Food is good, but blatent disregard for the specifics of what you order. How they can get a sandwhich so blatently wrong is beyond me. My wife was so excited for this sandwhich and I will never forget her look of pain and despair when she opened it contained ingredients which she does not like. #12 Classic. NY. Pizza. 4.6 **** Simply extraordinary NY style pizza. The crust cracks when you fold the slice. Great ratio of sauce... cheese and dough. It all comes together perfectly. Not close to a subway so it is hipster free. Lol You never see this spot on any of the top pizza lists, but it deserves to be mentioned for top NYC pizza joints. I like this place & highly suggest that you check it out. Prefer when the owner is on site, because the counter guys are kept in check - but we won't go there. Pizza is pretty darn excellent and holds on its own. Nice thin crust with really delicious sauce; you can easily tell that they are using some prime ingredients. We have been to all of them before numerous times, but never on the same day, let alone the same meal. The goal is to find our definitive favorite pizza joint for this neighborhood. To be fair, we got one regular slice from each pizza maker during busy lunch time, and consume them within 15 minutes of each other. Here are our findings. For me, everything that makes up a great slice is important, however nothing is more crucial than getting the crust right. On this day, Brother's Pizzeria slightly edges out Amore by a hair if I had to pick, though both were fantastic. They were super thin, just the right amount of crispiness, and a deliciousness that's hard to describe. On the other hand, Lucia was a distant third place since its crust had a thicker and doughier texture, along with a bland taste. Crust: Brother's = 9, Amore = 9, Lucia = 6 As for the sauce, Amore had plenty, Lucia was second, and Brother's had the least. Yet, you can over sauce a slice and make it too wet as well. So the flavor of each sauce played a large role in determining this victor. Due to it's super zesty sauce, the clear winner for this battle was Amore Sauce: Amore = 9, Lucia = 8, Brother's = 7 Lucia had the most cheese, a bit more than Brother's. Though Amore had the least amount of cheese, it was more gooey and had way less oil compared to the other two restaurants. For this category, we both gave it to Amore Pizzeria by a little bit even though we would have preferred a tad more cheese. Cheese: Amore = 9, Lucia = 8, Brother's = 7 In the end, a perfect slice of pizza is the chemistry of all three parts working in synergy to produce that unforgettable bite. It's hard to represent the quality of pizza with a number and it could be different on any given day. However in our case, it did match the order we would rank the three pizzerias. Lucia came in third because of that slightly better than average crust. Brother's need to improve on their sauce and cut down on the oiliness. I have had somewhat average pizza at Amore before. Finally starting going to some new places since the pandemic and I came here after a craving for some pizza and on the advice of a trusted friend. I ordered ahead and picked up; there was a short line of people but I was able to get my food quickly. I also asked for some garlic which they kindly obliged. I picked up the sausage and meatball; i think the sausage was better as the meatball was lacking flavor. This pizzeria seriously serves the best pizza I have ever had in my life and it is consistent every single time. The tomato sauce on the pizza is perfectly tangy and is generous per slice. A regular slice will cost you $2.50 and an additional $0.75 if you want toppings. We ordered two regular slices, a pepperoni slice, and a medium fountain drink for a total of $10. It is a little confusing because I see on Yelp images that they serve pastas as well but I did not see it on the menu on the wall. I only saw pizzas, heroes, and drinks. Perhaps there is a separate menu somewhere? Service is quick and efficient. I won't say they are the friendliest of people since they don't greet and chat; it is more straight to the point of what you want to order and how much.
