Terrible experience on 10/19 at dinner time. Ordered dinner and appetizer. After 30 minutes of no mango lassi, no appetizer we asked the server and he said, do you want the appetizer before dinner?? I'm not sure who is giving this place good reviews, but this restaurant doesn't even deserve 1 star! We went in at lunch time, wasn't really busy, however the waitress took her sweet time giving us our menus. We tried to order naan, chicken tikka and tandoori and was told none of those things were available. Then tried to substitute with mutton curry and was told that's not available either. All the food that we ended up ordering was subpar and it seemed like the same spice mix was used for all the things ordered. We even found hair in one of our orders, the waitress was nice enough to apologize and take that off our bill. Coming so far for Indian food only to be greatly disappointed! read more

Visit the one near the apna bazar-this is good. They opened a new branch behind Rajdhani (this one is bad) and tried to have a buffet during the thanksgiving weekend of 2021. It was 1.30pm the veg main course were still not ready, just kept a place holder for it. We were having veg. The starters included mostly the ones they would have in their $5 breakfast combo. Apart from the bajji and onion pakora all were below average, till the main course arrived after following up 3 times. They used over the counter ready made masala for the only two veg curries(mix veg and paneer tikka) and it tasted like feet. We were the first one to take the curries yet had to struggle to find pieces of vegetable and paneer. The veg pulao was still eatable but the veg biryani never arrived and they have to put the paratha tray to cover the absence. That was quite an experience not expected from the management of a already running business. Too bad I had to pay $16 per person for that gross food. read more

Disappointing. We were looking for kailash parbat, but realized that Amma's Kitchen has opened here. We decided to give it a try. We didn't enjoy the experience. Here's why:--- 1. We ordered for veg pakora, chicken tikka and two dosas. They got the dosa first. We were expecting the appetizers to come first. 2. The sambhar was cold! Completely cold. 3. They didn't have enough menu cards. They just gave us one and the girl immediately took it from us to give it to the next table. 4. The A/C was NOT working. When we told them to check it, they said it's working and we are feeling hot because we are sitting next to window. Really??? Just admit the truth. We were hungry, so we just ate and left. Overall, not a pleasant experience. I understand they are new and it takes time to establish. But they are missing very basic things. We are not going back again. read more

Horrible the worse south Indian food I have ever eaten. The chutney is a blob of ground watery coconut, no salt, no chilly, no dal. Sambar doesn't taste like sambar. Went on a Thursday not sure if the chef is off and helpers are running this place. Idli is too thick and Not spongy. Dosa tastes like cardboard. Don't waste your money, time and mealtime. We were on our way to Anjappar, only to find out the place was closed during those hours. While on the Parkway, we quickly Yelped to find another place close to where we were. We were surprised to find out that this place was in a small mall in the area, took us a while to actually find the place. It is tucked in cozily between a small local bakery and the 'Famous samosas' place. I wanted to go find another place to eat, but now that we were there, we tried it anyway. Such an amazing surprise. Glad we stayed and decided to try. We ordered the idli vada, kothu paratha and the chicken biryani. Absolutely delicious. Loved the curry in the biryani. In the half hour, we were there, we saw at least 4 people come pick up their large catering orders. Guess this place is really popular. Their food reminded me of all my summers in Chennai. I agree to some extent with many of the comments here. The food taste is good. But the restaurant owners doesn't seem to know the basics of running a restaurant. Like someone commented earlier, I was also served the food in the reverse order. Ordered parotta along with a dry item. By the time I got the dry item, all of us have finished our own primary order. Height of it was, no body seem to realize/care that it is a problem. No one seem to take care of the customer. The way they serve is, whatever is prepared first will be served & it is up to you to eat or wait until you get the remaining. Parotta came first & I have to ask for gravy. They say it's coming with a tone that I asked for a favor. Even the water in the table was hot & I have to ask for new. Height of all, I ordered fried rice & it came so late that I have to pack it. No one cared to give me the real status. The so called owner was watching all these even while I was paying the check. Not even a word. I have to ask whether he knows & his reply "Yeah, I was watching & scolded my employee. I didn't ask you because I don't want aggravate the situation"...What a cold & dumb reply.. That too, after I asked. In fact, I overheard him telling his staff, if the customer is so impatient, let them very well have it packed. Really Amma's kitchen...long way to go. The food here is so good, tastes homemade and authentic. The portion sizes are super generous, especially with the thali's that have practically infinite food. Most importantly, the staff are the nicest I've ever met. Even on our first visit they treated us like regulars (which we eventually became!) and were super kind and generous to everyone. I'm a biggest fan of your kothu parotta but on my last visit 2 days back, ur kothu parotta quantity reduced a lot., the salna u giv is the highlight at ur restaurant but u served vegetable kurma for kothu parota that day. I even tried idly and it was so dried up. Please tak this review and bring back the old ammas restaurant as it was previously. I heard the same comments from my othr frnds too. We ordered Malbar fish curry (fresh fish I had in long time), pepper prawns ( perfectly cooked and seasoned, not frozen and chewy prawns u get at most places)and chicken sukka. Happy to find this gem.
