a view of the bar from the dining area

Kind of a hidden little spot off the beaten path located in a very Euro part of the area. I dropped in here the other day to do some work on my computer and enjoy a cup of cappuccino. It's a small but nicely kept place. Bathroom was very clean. Hot coffee, espresso, a fridge with cold imported beers in them. One lady working here who was nice, figured out the wifi password for me, and even brought me some cookies while I was on a client call. I was the only one in here for quite a while. As it became dark I knew it was time time to leave when a bunch of large men with accents walked in and took their business to the back room. Yup, time to go.

We had smoked fish dip with fingerling potatoes, deviled eggs, beef pierogies, sausage with beans. Everything was flavorful, fresh and great presentation. We tried a few cocktails - all were strong & delicious! Of course we had to try honeycake as well - amazing! Not overly sweet but flavorful and light! Espresso was strong but not bitter - great compliment to the honey cake. Our dinner was so impressive that se had to come back for breakfast the next morning to try more dishes. Breakfast did not disappoint! We tried the heirloom tomatoes, breakfast sandwich and lazy pierogies - all exceptionally delicious! Service is friendly and prompt! The market has quite a bit of various products too! Go try it, you won't be sorry!

It was topped with crispy potatoes string fries. On top of a subtle relish. And a crispy hot dog. It was so delicious. My wife at the non meat pierogi. The dough and filling had the perfect ratio. Cooked very well as the dough didnt have an firmy or overly cooked bites. And the onion topping had such a great sweet finish. Can't wait to come back for dinner. Bonus- I just adore the space. The details and the feeling of calm was great.

We were sitting at the bar and we each got an espresso martini and were not bothered to order more. They had cider and IPAs there all for under $10. When I was heading out, I saw someone with their dog on the couch and they also seem to be some games you could play. The decor is very cool. They also have a TV at the end of the bar. It was playing Hulu while I was there.

The bar is a bit on the smaller side in terms of seating, but it has a TON of personality. I loved the eclectic decorations and knickknacks around the seating areas and the bar. The bartender had the TV tuned in to Jeopardy, so my inner (or extremely obvious?) nerd was beaming. In terms of the drinks themselves, I tried the cocoa orange whiskey (?) infusion on the rocks, and my BF had the chipotle paloma. We would both say they were solid, definitely not at "craft cocktail" level, but decent. This bar has a fun + dive-y feel - the kind of place where you get a beer, a plate of chicken nuggets, and watch trash tv with your neighborhood crew (I think they actually do have people who have a weekly Bachelorette viewing during the week). Definitely worth checking out if you're already in the area and looking for ~vibes.~

So I look up this place, Gottscheer Hall, because my German friends said it was classic or…read moresomething. A quick look from the outside, we'll, it looks like some kind of place where they keep really historic things and serious beers. Also outside are these big blue awnings, not trying to be all fancy, probably for weddings where locals use a side I've never been. The inside has got this big old wood bar and a few tired ceiling fans above. It looks like the kind of place where old and young, guys and gals go to eat, drink and make merry. The Queens Chronicle has a picture posted inside '100 years of good cheer,' it says. So I ordered all this German grub and our it came all at once, all laid out looking absolutely delicious. Just look at the giant pretzel. It's sitting there with some wonderful yellow cheese dip, and the platters of sausages, potato pancakes, and sauerkraut, it's all so heavy and seriously yummy. They've even got a bunch of beer bottles lined up under these little blue lights, like they're trying to match the blue awnings, I loved the look myself, i love anything that reminds me of Christmas. The dessert with the massive meringue on top of a brownie. It wasvreal good! If I ever went to this place ahain, I'd probably just drink beer and eat pie while staring at my giant pretzel for a while.
