We ordered the cinnamon, cheddar and pepper, and cream cheese and scallion scone. My favorite was the cinnamon scone. The savory scones were a bit more muted in flavor so I would recommend the sweeter scone flavors! Tabitha, my server, recommended the BlackBerry Vanilla Scone because it is her favorite even though the Blueberry Scones sell out first! The BlackBerry Vanilla Scone was crunchy on the outside but a tad dry on the inside. It also had a hint of sweetness. I like that because I do not like overly sweet scones. The scone was clearly made with fresh quality ingredients, and the portion was huge, but it was served at room temperature. I prefer hot "made to order" scones like the ones I get at Mary O's on the Lower East Side. The smell walking into The Sconery was divine, and the atmosphere has an Upper East Side vibe. The bakery is pet friendly because I saw several pet owners seated outside with their dogs on leashes. Outside the entrance of The Sconery were two small tables and a bench, where customers were enjoying their scones. I feel the $5 price tag is a bit steep though. I had very high hopes for The Sconery after seeing the rave reviews. I've also had good luck in Sunnyside, which has become a bit of a dessert destination with icons like Kora and Masa Madre. I will caveat that we arrived in the early afternoon, and perhaps the scones here are best had piping hot out of the oven first thing in the morning. We tried the vanilla blackberry variety, and while the scone had a nice tartness and buttery flavor to it, the texture was a bit flat. It also felt like it leaned too much towards the sour side and could have benefitted from a bit more sweetness. I will have to give it another shot next time I'm here earlier in the day! I've been very lax about writing reviews as of late. I had to stop what I was doing to write this one as The Sconery deserves it. I just ate one of the best scones of my life! Typically I'd prefer a non flavored "traditional" type scone. They didn't have any when we stopped by so I opted for one coconut, one peach and one berry. All I can say is OMG AMAZING! Get the homemade jam (strawberry rhubarb today) and the homemade clotted cream. It's sooooo good! They are making the scones fresh so ours were hot out of the oven. If you love scones, check out this new place that recently opened. Family owned, the owners and employees are really sweet. First time I went, I got Cinnamon (my friend loves this one) and Plain. Didn't get cream cheese green onion nor chocolate chip. They ran out of peach and another flavor. Second time I went, we picked up Cream Cheese Green Onion, Lemon Raspberry, Blueberry, and Vanilla Blackberry for a house warming. Everyone loves it especially the blueberry. The second savory wouldn't be ready until an hour later. They have been opened for several weeks and it's brand new. Go give them a try. read more

Whatever you do, don't dare ask if they have any butter to put on the scones. Apparently these are " American scones " (whatever that means!) and you aren't allowed to put butter on them. I did attempt to eat the scone without butter but alas, it was incredibly dry. read more

So i don't have much experience in scones TBH I made have had it once i imagined them to be very hard and dry...I was waiting for my barber to get in this morning, I did a loop arond the block and I stumbled on this place, it smelled amazing so i gave it it a try...It was Fyre (with a Y), crunchy on the outside and sofy and pillowy on the inside...it may have changed my opinion on scones. You are greeted by the smell of cinnamon and sugar and smiling faces. What a wonderful bakery. The scones are delicious. The perfect balance of sweet and soft in the middle. The flavor combinations are to die for. I had the orange cranberry and treated myself to their homemade clotted cream which is so smooth and the perfect accompaniment. Do not sleep on the clotted cream. My husband, not usually a fan of scones, loved their cinnamon roll scone and devoured without even offering to share. The coffee is also perfect. I had wanted to try this place for the past couple of months and wouldn't you know I had business to take care of in the area so I finally stopped in. It's a quaint little place with scrumptious looking scones! I wound up getting the blackberry vanilla and the cranberry/orange. I loved the blackberry vanilla out of the two. I really had no idea that this place existed. My sister absolutely loves scones. I think she has been going there almost every day since they opened. She loves their blueberry flavor and told me that they offer other unique fruit flavors. She told me that the top of the scone is crunchy and the inside is soft and tasty. Absolutely a charming little spot that opened only two months ago! Flavors change on the daily according to what ingredients the chef is able to source and everything is fresh (the fruits, the veggies and of course the scones). The scones are a lovely size and five bucks a pop. They're warm and soft and slightly chewy. I got a cream cheese scallion scone and it had pockets of cream cheese throughout, though the scallions were admittedly few and far between, and had everything seasoning a top. Not being a fan of scones myself, I decided to stop at The Sconery on a recent visit from Florida to visit my daughter...cautiously, I ordered a blueberry one--one melting bite and I was blown away--during the week, I tried every flavor available and had the same reaction every time!!!! I've enjoyed every delicious scone but my favorites are Cherry-Chocolate-Chunk and Lemon Raspberry. I stop by the shop 3-4 times a week for my scone, banana bread and chocolate chip cookie fix.
