My friend and I stumbled upon this neighborhood bar. Definitely a true local spot, the kind where everyone seems to know each other. It had a pretty raunchy feel with an older crowd, sitting somewhere between a pub and a dive bar. The door was broken and the cups by the water looked dirty. I live a few blocks away from here. I pass this place constantly but never gave it a shot until this past Friday. I met a friend here after work. It was about 5 PM and already very busy! The place is really small with limited seating inside as well as enclosed outdoor seating and tables/stools along the outside. Such a diverse crowd! They have 2 entrances. One the side and the front. It was way too busy inside so we chose to sit in the covered outdoor section. If you do that, be prepared for a lot of smoke and pigeon feathers flying around! We were okay with that! When you order a drink here, you get a wooden token which will get you your next drink free! This happened the entire time we were there. We had a total of 4 drinks each with 2 of them each being free! That will definitely have me coming back for more. There's no other place that does that. No jukebox, but the music they played was decent. Total dive bar atmosphere. Service was fine. Love the free popcorn with fixings station. Fresh hot popcorn with Old Bay is delicious with a nice, cold drink. All you can eat of it, too. Although I saw 1 patron go up 10 times for it! Talk about overkill. They serve hot dogs for a buck as well! Now the bathroom was pretty gross. Hardly any light. Stinky and no place to dry your hands. Did I expect a 4 star bathroom experience here? Absolutely not, but give me a working hand dryer or paper towel please. The shocker of the night was when I closed out my tab. For those 4 drinks we got charged for, it came out to $13.50! Uhh....what?! That's insane. Cheapest happy hour drinks ever. Did I get a headache from the well liquor they used for these drinks? Definitely. Was it worth it for that price. You know it! Bartender was being rude and disrespectful towards customers (group of people) for not receiving a tip though the tab was still open, another person a part of the group was forced to close the tab even though it was two separate bills. She then proceeded to come outside and yell at the group of people disrespecting people for their appearances and her dislike of the amount, she then proceeded to throw a drink that was already paid for at a customer. She came outside aggressively and told the group of people to leave without a reason before proceeding to call us slurs. We even decided to clean up our "mess" proceeding to take the cups inside rather then her come outside and clean them. 0/10 would recommend coming here read more

Awful treatment over a tip!! (Mind you no one was done drinking.) I've gone to this pub many times and had great experiences.unfortunately this time ended awful! A group of friends and I went and had many drinks putting it on one card.unfortunately the card declined and the payment was switched to cash.cash was used to buy more drinks,obviously insulating that we weren't ready to close out.soon after,the bartender comes to us and says she's no longer serving us because we tipped low on a 200 dollar bill.this young woman was screaming from the moment she approached.she stated that we had to leave "her" bar and refused to let anyone speak and explain the payment change.she continued to yell and eventually went inside.she then made another friend force close his tab because "his buddy didn't tip her!"soon after,she comes back out with a cigarette in her hand yelling that we all need to leave.she then proceeded to make disgusting comments about weight and appearance! No one in my specific party said anything to her about her appearance at all! She continued to yell and opened the door demanding we left "her bar",as we were leaving she continued to make disgusting comments and proceeded to throw two drinks out on the sidewalk.tossing it so the ice was basically across the whole sidewalk.one drink ended up hitting me and leaving my lower pant leg and sock soaked! My whole party was even discussing the CASH TIP we were going to put in for her when we were done(before she came out screaming) This whole situation could've been completely different.and it sucks because we're all Ridgewood natives and have had great experiences here before.so upset about this situation and unfortunately my whole new shoe is covered in cranberry juice. read more

Horrible experience, as a ridgewood native i like to support local businesses and went in here to have some drinks with my peers. The bartender proceeds to come out and throw drinks at us, curse us out, and kick us out over tipping "not enough" for her standards. She had not done anything the whole night, not even clean the table. If you want a bar in ridgewood do not go here! She claims it to be her bar but sources say she just started working here, it's a shame cause my party would've tipped bigger but we weren't done drinking. read more

Staff is highly unprofessional. A tab was closed on credit card and a new tab was opened with cash. The bartender refused service and kicked me and my friends out because she didn't get a satisfactory tip on credit (again, because we weren't done and going to give a cash tip so credit cards don't take a percentage). She also assumed another man was with us and closed his tab because he was sitting close to us because she said we don't know how to tip (again, we weren't done and were absolutely ready to give a hefty cash tip). Bartender (tall, dark hair, tattoos) said she will no longer serve us because we didn't properly tip (again, we weren't done) and told us to get our sh*t and get the f*ck out because she didn't want to serve us anymore since she wouldn't be getting tipped. My boyfriend, sister, and friend left letting her know that she doubted us and her response was "well it doesn't matter because I wouldn't want d*ck from anyone over 200 pounds so you can get the f*ck out" (directing the insult at my boyfriend). We left the bar and made our way to the corner where the bartender threw two drinks out the window in our direction, getting the drink she threw on my friend's pants since she threw it. My friend felt the drink drip down to her sneakers (that are brand new) and wet her socks. We used to love the prices and the other staff members but I would never return after tonight. We were celebrating the fact that we could hang out with someone that lives a bit further and we don't see that often but it was clearly ruined by someone who yelled in our faces and didn't even try to communicate. She seemed irate and maybe even under the influence a bit as she was the only visible staff. It was almost as if she had been drinking or maybe smoking and she got aggressive since things didn't go her way. I've never been treated this way and was deeply upset because I have family that own restaurants and businesses and I understand how much tips mean to many businesses. My friends and I all work and won't go out if we can't afford it. We were all willing to tip her on our own but after she said "if yall can't afford to come here just say that" I will absolutely never go back and I will be calling the manager of the establishment in the morning to speak about what transpired tonight. I am absolutely disgusted by these actions and unprofessionalism and I will never recommend this bar again. This space was much better off as a Subway. read more

came to myrtle pub in Ridgewood with a few friends after work and this low key pub is cool. Place has a retro weird funny decor vibe going on but any bar serving hot dogs and popcorn when you order a drink is fine and dandy with me . Plenty of space to lounge about as I grabbed a seat near the back space as my boys sat at the bar drinking and gabbing it up . Even if you don't drink much , this pub is still worth the visit to chill with your peeps and relax a while . Nothing fancy , no bells and whistles and that's ok . read more
