Super delicious, great service, very nice owners. Amazing to have affordable great tasting food in Waikiki

Amazing! Honestly this is the best steak I've had. I've gone to Morton's, signature and Ruth's Chris multiple times and I'd pick this truck over those steak houses. The quality of the meat is superb tender, juicy and not overly salted. I didn't need a knife at all. Usually when steaks are that tender they are too oily or fatty but this was a perfect balance not overly fatty like ribeye. I can't wait to go back I got the big steak plate for 27 and prior to that I was gonna buy my own steak and cook it then I realized buying a raw steak of lower quality was gonna costs me 30+ at Safeway or Whole Foods so it made more sense to buy it from this truck then to cook it myself. Highly worth the visit we drove into Waikīkī just to pick it up. read more

Tucked away, hidden in lower Kalihi, right on Republican Street, came across this food truck while waiting for the business across the street to open. Was perfect timing, hungry, never eat breakfast. Felt bad cuz was kind of parking right in front his food truck, felt like I was blocking, so we checked it out. Found out they was previously located on Cartwright Road in Waikiki between Paoakalani and Kapahulu, right by job, and I never bothered. I find it so coincidental to come across it in the boonies of kalihi lol Any way, no can go wrong with Wagyu. Not much choices, simple menu, but I ended up ordering a mini number 1, regular steak plate, and the wife ordered the number 4. I would say, was not bad. Like any other fast food steak joint like Blazin steaks. Did its job, fed the belly to make happy opu. Oh yeah, we ended up smashing right outside the truck, there's a cute little utility shelf with couple bar stools around for table. Made ourselves comfortable, and smashed. Yeah, was not bad. The reason why missing a star is cuz the wife said she paid, gave the money, I guess he got busy and must've forgot, but she was waiting for her change, and he never gave it. She even put a $10 bill in his tip jar, and even while we were outside of his truck eating, no change. But all good. Was only small change anyway, but still. Anyway, if u hungry for steak in the kalihi area, and like eat something else besides McDonald's sand island and Alicia's, check em out. Looks like they open from 8AM to 2PM M-F, 9-2 on Saturday and closed Sundays. read more

The waygu bowl was absolutely amazing and delicious food trucks are to go for visiting Hawaii

This place has the best wagyu plates that I found in the island. I tried all the food trucks next to this one and by far the American Wagyu Eatery had the highest quality food and very well priced! The service is great, the staff are very kind. They have several picnic tables in the shade to eat at. 10/10 next time I'm in Waikiki and need a quick bite I'm going here. read more

American Wagyu Eatery - #1 Wagyu steak plate - Wagyu, Maui Onion, corn, chopped lettuce - Food Trucks Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

The service is impeccable, very happy I wandered around and stumbled upon this truck! They advertise a type of wagu beef made in America with the exact standards set for wagu beef in Japan! The sample given to me was full of flavor and ripped apart very easily. The vibe was super chill. The food: I don't like curry typically but they said I should it and I'm so happy I did. This is the best steak curry I have ever had it's rich in flavor. The rice is done perfectly, the egg on top brings the whole meal together. I will be back here again. read more

Stumbled across this absolute gem today. I literally took the wrong turn and noticed the Wagyu beef flyer posted to the fence so decided what the heck, it's lunch time let me just try it out. I knew I made the right decision when I walked up and was greeted by a nice Japanese man. BEST. DECISION. EVER! The beef literally melts in your mouth!! Comes on a bed of rice, corn, grilled onions and kimchi. I couldn't even wait to eat it (hence why no photos of the plates ‍) I will 100% be back again & I've already told multiple people about this truck becuase it's literally a hidden GEM. It's just unfortunate that the location is off the beaten path and you have to intentionally look for the truck. But I promise you, you won't regret stopping here! read more

My husband planned on having a completely different meal when we arrived at the Ohana Hale Food Truck Park. Once we had a taste of the #1 wagyu steak plate, he completely changed his mind (and until that moment, I didn't really know what I wanted to eat). The mini Wagyu Steak Plate was PHENOMENAL- the meat was perfectly cooked, the rice, corn and garlic sesame cabbage all tasted wonderful. Wish this food truck existed on the U.S. east coast! Many thanks to Yelpers for leading us to the AWE! I enjoyed two dinners at AWE during my stay in Waikiki. The first time I split the Beef Lover with my husband. It was a hearty, delicious trio of beef curry, shaved beef with onions and sliced beef over rice with corn and a small amount of cabbage. The beef is so tender and perfectly seasoned. Just delicious! We went back two days later and shared a beef curry. The beef curry had sold out as an entree but we enjoyed the portion we had in our Beef Lover so we were happy that it wasn't sold out the 2nd time we went back. The curry actually came with some sliced beef too. It was so delicious! Definitely don't hesitate to stop by this hidden gem! read more

Swift service, cheap and filling. The meat is the only thing worth eating here though, delicious and perfectly cooked. Skip everything else. Especially the curry - it is about as bland as the cabbage and corn fixins, and they only serve a paltry two slices of wagyu with it. read more

Very good! Plenty of meat, great combo with veggies and fried onion. The place was open even though google said it was closed, and it's right by Hyatt which was convenient for us. Friendly owner, will definitely be back :) thanks! read more

We more or less stumbled across this place after noticing several food trucks on the street outside of our hotel. Having heard of Wagyu beef hundreds of times but never actually trying it, I was immediately interested in the menu. There are multiple 'plate lunch' style offerings but we opted to go for the combination plate which has all 3 styles of meat. My favorite by far was the sliced steak. Not that the other two weren't good - they were all tasty. But that sliced steak was just so tender and flavorful. If I was eating there again I'd personally go for the full sized entree of just that variety. The sides in the meal are a little lacking (plain white rice, plain corn, and plain cabbage); but let's be honest, the real star here is the meat. Overall 8/10 - would come back again. read more

I am visiting from Orange County and these food trucks were next to the Air Bnb. I could smell the goodness from the 4th floor. I went the first night and got the big Wagyu steak plate, it was so delicious! I went back the next night and brought my Dad, he got the Wagyu steak this time I got the Wagyu beef bowl. Once again, so tender and delicious. I don't normally eat Kimchi but I ate all of this! This food is some of the best I've eaten while visiting Hawaii. Everyone needs to stop by and give this Chef some support! Enjoy! read more

Went to the Lanakila event and ordered a steak plate ($21.99 w/tip) one hour before the truck closed. Waited 20 minutes for one plate. Got home and was very disappointed not only did I receive a curry wagyu plate, the wrong plate and priced cheaper and then what I paid. But I got 4 tiny nickle size slivers of steak, the grisle ends. If you are going to close earlier (2pm) than the closing time (3pm) because you run out of food, just be honest and disclose that you don't have enough steak to complete an order that a customer pays. But please don't charge them for a steak plate and give them curry with 4 pieces of nickle sized steak bites. Really disappointed! read more

If you are going to come here, get the curry, the steak and curry combo is amazong as well if you're feeling steak too. We encountered numerous food trucks stationed on Cartwright as we strolled back to our hotel in Waikiki each evening. Our interest was piqued by the American Wagyu food truck. Tonight, we resolved to experiment with it, and we are delighted that we did. Accepts credit cards, provides a reasonable portion of food, and provides prompt and courteous service. We selected the curry rice (regular size) and the mini wagyu plate. They offer three portion sizes for the menu items they serve. The cuisine was delectable, and I would certainly consider returning to the food truck. I am of the opinion that it was a reasonable price in comparison to the prices of cuisine in Waikiki. American wagyu is the subject of discussion in numerous comments that have been posted on this site. Japanese cows are referred to as "wagyu." Folks, there is no such thing as American Wagyu. Japanese is the meaning of the term "wa." Cow is the translation of the term "gyu." In order to be classified as Wagyu, the cow must be bred and reared in Japan. American Wagyu is a cute choice for a name for the business. read more

I almost forgot to take a picture, it smelled so good, tastes so good! Service was fairly quick. Got #4 wagyu beef lovers which gave us a flavor of everything. So good! Only thing I would add is an egg (I love eggs) but I was too lazy and I didn't check to see if it was an option. Seasoned perfectly! We'll eat there again! Btw, there were two of us, we shared, but could easily feed 3 or 4 for a snack. read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place. I will say I was disappointed that the meat is broil instead of grill. The guy behind the truck is really unfriendly and doesn't really say much. I understand it's a food truck and doesn't expect much but a smile won't hurt you. I tried asking about the late and got a grunt instead. I'll prolly not be back k here when I come back to the island. read more

American Wagyu Eatery - Mini steak plate with salad - Food Trucks Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Good price for Wagyu beef meals. They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, yet open other days in the evenings until 8:30pm. I ordered the regular wagyu plate $18.50, which comes with rice, cabbage, and corn. Substituted the rice for extra cabbage (dressed lightly in a salty sesame oil dressing) and added a side order of kimchi (extra $1). Sprinkled my corn with Japanese red pepper togarashi flakes too. Wagyu beef seemed to have been cooked via sous vid, as you can see the even lines from medium to medium rare in each slice. Wish they could have charred the outside just a bit, but overall a good deal for all you get. You could easily miss this food truck alley/street if you stick to the beachside food venues. Will definitely come back the next time I visit the area. read more

I had the number 1 reg. The sides are good but the steak itself needs more seasoning. The onions helped with the flavor but just a bit more seasoning and it would be perfection. Serves also very good. read more

We stayed at the Hyatt place next door and kept checking to see if they were open. I don't think they keep consistent opening hours. Luckily saw that they were open Friday at 6pm and ran over to order. Chef was on double duty working the cashier and cooking the food. Super busy but wasn't stressing the growing line and was still very kind. Truck is newly painted black and looks clean on the outside. First truck you see on the line of food trucks. My husband ordered the steak plate medium rare and since I'm pregnant I asked for the wagyu lovers combo well done. Surprisingly my well done steak was still very tender and delicious! Would definitely recommend. Took it to the beach and this was one of our more memorable meals this vacation. read more

This place is amazing!!!!! We got a $35 parking ticket trying to get a plate from here and you know what, it was worth it. This place has no business being this good. My jaw dropped when I saw the amount of beef that was piled on- it was hefffty. So this is a food truck located in an aisle surrounded by other food trucks next to a Hilton, which is why street parking was limited. It's ran by the NICEST chef! I was being super extra by taking videos in an attempt to become an IG food influencer (LOL) and the chef literally opened both plates and held it out for my camera Such a sweet, sweet man. You can't get better service anywhere else! The prices are quite incredible too, and the FOOOOD oh man the food! I got the traditional steak plate and devoured it. Hubby got the combo which allows you to try the steak, gyudon (beef bowl), and curry and LEMME TELL YOU that curry was the best damn bowl of Japanese curry I've ever had!! Yo I don't know what they put in the sauce but it's nice and dark, darker than the normal brown ones. And the best part is the chunks of steak that literally fall apart with a poke of the fork. Dare I say I liked it even better than the regular steak?! Definitely try to snag this plate if you can. We arrived around 7:00-7:30 or so and hubby managed to get the last combo plate so they definitely do run out before closing time. Do yourself a favor and support this amazing establishment and owner(s). You will be rewarded with delicious, affordable American wagyu beef for under $20 a meal. read more

American Wagyu Eatery - Combo steak, curry, and gyudon. - Food Trucks Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Great tasting beef, friendly service and excellent quality. Makes me want more and more. The Beef lovers plate was pretty darn good.

You know? Not all American Wagyu are great, to be honest, right? Well, This place IS so great! Forget high priced nice decor steak restaurants. If you are simply looking for a great steak this is it! I travel back and forth between Hawaii and Japan. So, I'm used to not just American Wagyu but Japanese Wagyu, too. But I much prefer this steak rather than modern Japanese Wagyu which are many time just too fatty and not enough "meat taste." This American Wagyu Eatery is, for me, just right, and it's darn so great. Right amount of fatty marbled in and juicy and tender meat is tasting like a real beef! So ono! They really know how to cook steaks! It was perfectly medium-rare which I love. I took it home and ate it, but it was still fairly warm inside, not cold. Now that's not easy! I chose the "Big Size (almost half pound)" $20 including tax. Good choice! I told them I can't eat rice, so I guess they gave me extra veggie, and that was nice of them. Very friendly couple (?) makes the experience heart warming and makes you want to go back again and again. Hmmmm..... just by thinking about it to write this review made me want to there again! I guarantee you'll feel the same! read more

definitely a must for the price and quality of plate/food. I asked for salad instead of rice with the beef and it was exactly what i wanted.

It was just ok. By the time we got there they were out of everything but #3. While I had hoped that at least that would be good, it was fairly bland meat that was quite fatty. I am not sure why this truck is so highly rated, but perhaps it is one of the other 4 items they were out of by 7 pm. read more

So the rice is just rice. The cabbage, well I got two chunks ofrom the head that weren't separated, and had no dressing on it. The corn was from a can, and cold. But then there was the steak. It was prepared awesomely, if I had anything I would like to change, it was a little under for my wife to like and borderline what I would eat. It was tender, seasoned perfectly and one of the best bites I had all week... For the price the sides need a lot of work. read more
