came here for my birthday 9/26/26 and the ticket lady at the front tried to steal our money!!! i asked the security guard how much to get in and he said $15 cash. we get past security and the ticket lady says $20 a ticket. we said no, security said $15. she asked how many were in our group and i said 5 of us. she said okay fine $15 each. i go to grab my money out and she tried multiple times to snatch it out of my hand before i was ready.. we gave her $85 expecting $10 change and she just took the money and said "ok you're good!" i had to stand there and do the math and then confront her about it to get the $10 back. extremely unprofessional. it's way too high of a cover to begin with, but then the ticket lady was so rude and tried to take our money. and then we get inside and it's hot and sweaty, and the dj was playing shitty songs and was rude about song requests. overall a disappointing experience which sucks because it was my birthday and i was really looking forward to this spot. read more

Our two families were looking for a place to grab a bite before the Padres game while we were hanging out in SD for the day. Saw American Junkie and headed straight in. Our hostess seated us in the corner booth by the entrance. It was fairly empty since it was the middle of the day on a Saturday. Our server took a while to greet us but she did come with waters and took our drink/food orders quickly. We all ordered burgers, a pizza, nachos, etc. The menu isn't super extensive but there's something there for everyone. The food was okay... wasn't mind-blowing but it did the job and everyone seemed content enough. It's def more of a bar atmosphere (we had 3 kids under 12 with us) so our expectations were tempered accordingly. Drinks were great, though! There was also a photo booth in the back so we got a nice souvenir photo of the kids (I think it was $10 for two strips). As for parking, there is street parking or one of the public lots. read more

American Junkie is a OSU bar. The place was packed. I couldn't stay long so I just had steak nachos and a soda. The nachos were good but the portion size was small. It was a fun environment so if you are a OSU fan you need to come here to watch your games. read more

Was visiting San Diego and went on a Cisco live week ! The whole downtown was crazy and it was crowded . We were walking through the downtown and found this place . One of my friends suggested this . The place was huge and they had lots of tables inside and outside the restaurant! The bar was vibrant and they had some variety of beers on the tap . We had blue moon and it tasted a bit watered down. We then had the hazy IPA and it was really good . Lots of options to choose from . The issue was - SERVICE !! For so many people sitting in bar , there was only one bar tender and it was making the whole process so slow ! Once we get an order , it takes 10-15 mins for the next time someone comes and asks us .. with the higher influx of customers during Cisco live week- they should have hired more helpers . Food was good overall and wasn't that pricey .! Price wise everything was normal and not too expensive . We had guac and chips and pizza and few other stuff . Everything was ok me For whatever I know and could taste like a PRO , I surely will give this restaurant a 4 star read more

They consistently bring in good DJs so the music is always on point. The place usually stays packed, and there's always something going on, whether it's people playing beer pong or just a vibing to the music and drinking. We went to American Junkie both Thursday and Friday while staying in the area, and honestly, the experience was pretty mixed. The bar itself is really spacious, and I thought the Photo Booth was such a cool addition! Thursday was definitely our better experience. The vibes were fun, the energy was good, and we had a pretty easy time getting in. Friday was a completely different experience, though. It was my friend's birthday and we were there to celebrate, but the security staff came across pretty rude and off-putting. We were also surprised that they were charging $20 per person to get in. I've personally never been charged just to enter a bar, so that was definitely something we weren't expecting and didn't really enjoy. Another thing I noticed was that the music was pretty random and didn't feel very up-to-date, which took away from the overall atmosphere a little. Overall, I'd give it 3 stars. Thursday was a lot of fun and I could definitely see myself going back on a better night, but our Friday experience, especially with the cover charge and how we were treated by security, left a lot to be desired. read more

Believe it or not but the food here is 10/10. My group of friends and i got the margarita pizza and the tomatoes tasted like they were picked straight from a garden. If they had told me they had their own private garden outside i would believe them. We also got the giant pretzel, rock shrimp, and nachos. Everything was so good. The drinks are that like you would get at any other late night bar, i wouldn't say anything special about them but the happy hour is extended until 8pm. Located in the heart of Gaslamp, this is a good central location if you're looking for a spot to grab a drink. With very stereotypical Gaslamp bar vibes, the interior has booths, tables, low booth/table set ups, and bars on both sides. We went to pregame a Padres game, and they have a pretty decent HH with $7 margs. The food is nothing to write home about and the food service is slow, but if you're just looking for a good HH before the game, this does the trick at a reasonable price. Pros: good priced HH, even on the weekends! Cons: really slow service. Took 30 minutes for sub-par nachos that didn't even have meat, and we were one of three tables in the restaurant at the time. TL;DR--I'd come here again to pregame for the game. Great price for HH drinks. read more

American Junkie is more of a drinking spot to hang with friends and listen to punk, grunge, emo and pop rock hits. I really liked the aesthetic of this place! Service was a bit rocky, the waitress I encountered was nice, but not very attentive. Also, the place seems heavily understaffed. I came at a time when there was hardly anyone in the restaurant and the food still came out somewhat late. Oh, and there was this guy who made me very uncomfortable, he had staring problems. I don't know if he was a busboy or what, this dude was rude! American Junkie offers other American fare like chicken, burgers, and classic appetizers (mozzarella sticks, shrimp, nachos etc.). I spotted a few fun alcoholic drinks exclusive to SDCC. American Junkie is a large space with plenty of seating which includes booths, tables, outdoor seating, and a large bar with stools. I've heard people jump on top of the bar? Oh and there's a spin-the-wheel activity for late night party animals. If you're into that, it's here. Myself and a few others came here for a playoff game (Padres v Dodgers) so we expected it to be busy! It was, and we ended up feeling bad for our waitress as she was sprinting all over and they seemed understaffed for the expected busy night. Despite slightly slow service, she was lovely & it was a great place to watch the game, screens everywhere and every angle! The food was surprisingly good- I HIGHLY recommend the crispy shrimp, truly sooo yummy, I'd come back for just these. The drinks were ok, I went for the cucumber spritz at first and it was so sweet I couldn't drink it--like, I swear it was mainly straight up syrup. Alas I had to say something (I don't love doing that) and they didn't charge me for it and let me order a different drink. Very nice of them. They were obviously hand breaded with what seemed to be a corn flake breading and fried beautifully. It came with 4 sauces: ranch (I couldn't tell if it was from scratch, but it tasted great), standard ketchup, honey mustard that was handmade and phenomenal, and a very unique and delicious BBQ sauce. My wife and I shared the hot chicken sandwich. This was amazing, homemade slaw, a spicy variant of that bbq sauce, and hand cut potato chips (a little under fried)....for $16!! IN GASLAMP!! Easily worth triple in a swankier establishment. Understand that this place is a bar. It has sticky tables, people playing beer pong on a Sunday afternoon, and a vibe that I haven't wanted to partake of in 10 years. The food however, completely took us by surprise. Came in for the Ohio state / Michigan while in town for WWE. Everyone was very friendly. The atmosphere was awesome! I did think for as busy as it was, the restaurant could have been more forceful with guests about seating. Lots of open seats because people weren't sitting with strangers. In restaurants I've worked for, if it's that busy we make it family style seating. We won't allow open seats when there's folks wanting to spend money with us. It was standing room only by 9am and we ended up eating elsewhere because there was no where to sit. Food looked amazing from what people around us ordered. I gave American Junkie two chances because my girlfriend wanted to try the salads and fries again. Both times we sat outside and both times we had the same brunette waitress. Both times were a disaster. The first visit she forgot the fries. She admitted the mistake and brought them at the end of the meal. I still tipped eighteen percent but it was not a great start. The second visit was worse. She forgot to put the dressing on the side which matters because my girlfriend follows a strict diet. When we ordered another glass of wine she asked if she could take the dirty glass back to refill because "they do not clean glasses well." That was already disgusting but on top of that she was coughing nonstop right next to guests who were eating. If you are sick stay home. It took twenty five minutes to get the corrected salad and by then I had already finished my teriyaki chicken and vegetables. They also charged extra for a tiny cup of teriyaki sauce. While all of this was going on the waitress ran into her friends outside and started swearing loudly right in front of us. The final straw was watching her cough, take our used wine glass, and then set it back up on the bar rail for the bartender. That was it. We canceled the wine and decided we were done. Between forgotten orders, long delays, coughing fits, swearing, and total lack of professionalism, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in San Diego. We will not be back. Management should train this waitress on hygiene, professionalism, and the basics of customer service read more

Great bar in Gaslamp. We came in for the last quarter of the Chiefs vs. Bills play off game and they were BUSY. The bar was full and most tables were taken, but they had a few available inside and the entire patio available. They have an evening happy hour that's also available during the weekends, which was perfect for Sunday Night football! We ordered a few drinks and appetizers - Buffalo boneless wings and chips, guac and salsa. Our boneless wings actually came out as cauliflower wings, not sure if the kitchen messed up or if the server brought us the wrong dish. But she was quick to recognize they were wrong and bring us the right wings. The Buffalo sauce was actually spicy and the wings were huge. The chips & dips were standard but perfect for a game night. The service was great. Although they were very busy, we got our drinks and apps fairly quickly. read more
