This is a quintessential neighborhood spot that is quaint and cozy. It's not trying to be anything more than what it actually is. The food is great and the servers are friendly and accommodating. They have a decent happy hour that includes both food and drinks. The baked Camembert was delicious as were the escargot and the steak au poivre that they split for us. This is a must if you are in the neighborhood and enjoy French bistro food.

Great happy hour featuring wine flights and small plates. Easy to walk in. Enjoy!!!!!!!

Amelie is a cute French restaurant in the UWS We went for their happy hour and easily found outdoor seating. We got a wine flight and a happy hour wine along with the cheese platter, the burrata, and truffle fries. It was definitely worth a visit as everything was delicious. Since we were seated outdoors it was hard to flag a waiter down at times but food and drinks came out promptly. We didn't feel rushed and everyone in the restaurant felt relaxed. It's a small place but lots of families in the area!

Service was amazing, we went for their lunch special where you could order two courses for $26. We got the burger, escargot, and chocolate mousse dessert. We were honestly most blown away by the bread and butter which had the crunchiest exterior and softest interior. Would return to try their other things

My ravioli was good but also SO rich, it was basically ravilois sitting in a bowl of melted butter - 7/10 My husband got the steak frites and said it was mid - 6.5/10 Crispy Artichoke appetizer was great and a huge serving, we got too excited and I forgot to take a picture before we ate it - 9/10 Vibes: date night. Service: solid. Oh and I love a restaurant that lets me do wine flights. I got the chilled red flight. Obviously not the best wine they had but I like the fun of a flight.

OUTSTANDING!! What a great experience I had at Amelie. I walked in as a solo diner so I sat at the bar and it just so happened to be happy hour. I was able to get in a flight of white wines and a few bites before happy hour ended. I ordered the warm goat cheese ball and the roasted cauliflower and it was OMG delicious!! Everything was fresh and so so flavorful and they bring warm bread to every table. Finally I ordered the onion soup and I have to say it was the best one I have had. I also want to give a shout out to the amazing bartender who took great care of me in the couple of hours I was there enjoying my meal. Thank you Jojo, you are awesome!! If you want to go to a place with great food, great service, and great ambiance, then Amelie is it! Can't wait for my next New York trip just to eat there again.

Gorgeous, emphasis on cozy (smalll tables), and delicious option on the UWS for a winter night's happy hour. Made it in time for happy hour last week and shared two wine flights and the baked Camembert which was 10/10. The bar area is petite and you are often sliding past people/people sliding past you. But if you don't mind a little shoulder to shoulder action this spot is great.

Amelie is a super cozy spot in the Upper West Side. Staff are always welcoming and attentive, and the food is consistently delicious. The restaurant is a bit tight inside and you will likely be seated fairly close to the another party. Having come for dinner several times, the Onion Soup is always very comforting to order and is served hot. The soup has a great balance of cheesiness and onion flavor, and it is always a pleasant surprise because it is not overly salty! The Escargots a L'ail have been tender and well seasoned with a garlic parsley butter mix. Each one is paired with a cute puff pastry. Another highlight is always the Ravioles du Royans. These are very classic French-style raviolis that are always delicate yet tasty. The topped butternut squash rounds out the flavor with a hint of sweetness. Definitely recommend visiting and trying multiple items on the menu!

I keep going back! Always loved the service. Last time I was way past my resv so I took the quickest available table but later asked to be moved and the server found another spot and I moved. The food is always good, and the ambiance is still fun, fresh and vibrant. It's always a go for me!

This is my 4th time visiting Amelie- I've always been a fan of the original location downtown so this was my first time trying out the one in the Upper West side. The food as always was delicious. The onion soup was just OK but the coq au vin and burger were perfect. This location feels a little outdated in comparison to the downtown location. It also feels smaller and less intimate. We visited after a Sunday morning at the Museum of Natural history and made reservations for 3 pm- so glad we did! The place was packed, but it also coincided with the NYC marathon so I was expecting that. We got our table right away and our server was fast and great!

Grilled chicken sandwich (front) French toast (middle) Coq au Vin (back)

Came here for brunch. Really nice, tasteful atmosphere -- feels French? Classy yet casual. I tried the grilled chicken sandwich and the French toast. Both were fine but not amazing. The chicken sandwich didn't have any special flavors to it -- just avocado, chicken, cheddar, and an aioli that was barely noticeable. The French toast was tasty but a bit crispy-verging-on-burned and difficult to cut. The people sitting next to us had the beef tartare and a salad with fried goat cheese that looked amazing, so I think in part I just ordered wrong. But more interesting additions to the grilled chicken sandwich and a softer, more egg-soaked French toast would have been nice. The service was mediocre. Took a while to order after saying we weren't ready to order yet, and then our waiter was pretty much out of sight for the rest of the meal. Moreover, the staff just didn't seem to be happy at the restaurant. They seemed stressed with perhaps too much to manage for the number of people working. It looks like Amelie is now in both NYC and SF and I wonder whether the restaurants are as a result more of a managed-from-afar set as opposed to restaurants with personal, direct leadership. All conjecture of course but the seemingly low morale of the staff made me wonder about management/whether staff were treated well. For one thing, it seems like really cramped quarters for waiters and chefs which is bound to affect people who are there for many hours a day. Perhaps a generous 4/5 stars, but the ambiance is special and the food on the whole is unique and tasty.

Onion soup broth was like dishwater. The coq au vin was flavorful - but it was a one-tone, harsh flavor.

Paper plates, plastic cutlery and pita chips warmed and served in the bags they came in. 2. Service - non-existent. No staff members acknowledge your arrival. You either have to wave madly or go to the bar and ask for a drink. The staff is always closing early with the staff excuse that "we are not busy" yet guests are routinely turned away. The staff is not happy and begrudge being there. DO NOT believe in the hours posted on the website. There is a built-in clientele but the staff can't wait to close it down. I don't know what is wrong with management but they have lost the plot. 3. Ambience - The space could be so much better than it is. The lighting is okay but the seating in the bar area is not appropriate. The adjoining cafe has a better feeling. Ambience has a lot to do with making guests feel welcome - this staff doesn't understand the meaning of hospitality but they should not be blamed. It is clear they have no training and are not held to any standard. If you want to go to a great space, go to the Wallace Hotel around the corner (I am NOT affiliated with them... have just gone there many times). It is so sad to see a place with such potential be so poorly run, especially as they have such little competition. The Arthouse Bar has the potential to be THE leading cocktail/music/late-night bar on the Upper West Side.
