My significant other and I were enjoying our Sunday evening in La Centerra when suddenly we gained a craving for Mexican food. We wanted to try Ambriza since we've never visited before. Where do I begin? We were greeted by friendly staff at the hostess station and were sat immediately. My goodness the artwork in the establishment was breathtaking. Our server, Omar, was very kind and helpful. He gave us his personal recommendations which did not disappoint! My significant-other and I shared the "Sopes Trio" and the "Brussel Sprouts Honey" which were to die for. Soon after, we ordered the "Short Ribs En Salsa De Chiles." The meat is top-quality and the sauce was the perfect touch to accompany the ribs. The food was delicious, but I really want to take this opportunity to highlight our server, Omar. My wife and I have been here twice now and I wanted to wait til after the second time to make sure it wasn't a fluke. This place has the absolute best happy hour possible. We ordered from the happy hour menu both times and we got several of the appetizers we've tried almost all of them now and the only one I wasn't crazy about was the fish but everything else was CRAZY. I went with a couple of friends, we were seated promptly, it was about 3 in the afternoon, restaurant was pretty slow. we sat for roughly 10-15 minutes, never had menus or water brought to us, never spoke to anyone from wait staff, and when we decided that we had enough sitting around, watching staff walk all around us without asking if we needed anything, or if we had even been helped yet, we got up to leave. THEN we had a member of staff ask us what was wrong, it was the hostess. We told her we had been sitting since she sat us, and no one helped us. She apologized, ask us to stay and that she would have someone help us immediately, but we refused. We just went to Torchy's. Won't be going back. read more

From the second I walked in I felt so taken care of! I came in on a rainy day during brunch hour, the service was impeccable! We were first greeted with complimentary appetizers of there elote which was the perfect mix of everything an elote comes with, included a mini bottle of there Tajin to adjust the spice level to your liking. After we ordered 2 orders of the barbacoa tacos which were delicious, the presentation was amazing as well as the rice and beans were perfectly seasoned. All the food had a very authentic feel to it. My server was Alejandra and Victoria, extremely generous and kind women made me feel super comfortable and excited to eat and try this new restaurant. I would 100% come back here. There chips and salsa was also delicious and different than any other Mexican restaurant. You can tell this restaurant takes pride in there service and food as well as there employees, my drinks were always refilled and never let get to the bottom and the colors and setting of the restaurant was beautiful, very Mexican feel. They advertise service on the patio on their web site. Drove to the restaurant and the large and nice patio was closed. Very disappointing as the inside seating was very noisy. I requested that we be allowed to sit outside and they would not accommodate the request. Really.... How hard is it to service the patio? We had a pretty bad experience. The waiter was absolutely terrible. She forgot to order 2 of our meals. We were almost done before the remaining meals arrived. The drinks were not kept full and were frequently empty. The food is mediocre at best. This place is very very loud. It is so loud you can barely have a conversation. After waiting a long time for our food to arrive it was delivered to our table cold. The food flavor was not that great either. Black beans are the only bean choice. I was surprised when my "Charro beans" arrived and it was basically a bowl of nasty black beans. The prices are really high for the low quality and small portion size. My asada tacos had more onion than meat. The meat was cooked extremely well done and was partly crispy. I will be surprised if they survive. We were not impressed and will not return. read more

I've tried so hard to like this place; about 6 times to be exact. Today was probably one of the worst experiences here to date. Why do I continue coming you ask... the margaritas are great, but that's about it. Today we sat at the bar. The male bartender was extremely nice at first. The manager was nice too when he did his "table touch" at the bar but as the night went on he seemed to make the female staff uncomfortable. I hope you have an HR department for that one, you're going to need it. The meat was over cooked, burnt and dry like it had been sitting. The enchilada sauce had zero flavor. The bar staff was more worried about cleaning and doing side work than serving us. I checked the time at one point because I thought maybe it was closing tome, nope.. it was 7:15. We wanted to drink more but gave up and left. This place just isn't worth $20 a plate. Either they need to do better or maybe people should spend their money else where. read more

Ambriza is our favorite Mexican restaurant. All of their employees are always so peppy and excited. Great energy. They give you complimentary corn for your first time dining with them. Such a warm way to welcome your customers. We always get their margaritas SO good! We want to try different things on the menu everytime we go back because every item we had so far has been very tasty. read more

I've visited this place 2 times now. The first time, I had a decent experience. We ordered mole, nopales, fajitas, and tres leches. Nopales and tres leches were GREAT. Mole was good. Fajitas were ok but I thought they were too dry. Margaritas were also good and BIG. We waited 1 hr to get a table because it was very crowded. Our server forgot basic things- plates, tortillas, certain silverware... he seemed so busy so we were patient and understanding. We left thinking food was great and service was ok but we blamed it on how busy the restaurant was. The second time, I went for brunch... we had the same server, once again he was super busy. It was hard to catch him to ask for another mimosa and then it also took forever to get. It was also busy this time but still.. service was just ok again. Nothing wrong with our server, I think it's just they are too busy or understaffed. Now, what changed my mind entirely about this restaurant was the ladies restroom. I went into a stall that I didn't realize was malfunctioning and when I flushed, some toilet water droplets sprayed up onto my face, hair, and sweater. I was totally disgusted and embarrassed because I was with my boyfriend's family if not, I would have let the manager know and left. I told a staff worker who was in the restroom and all she did was make a disgusted face and she closed the door to the stall. I smelled toilet water on me for the rest of the brunch. It wasn't a ton of water that got on me but I could still smell it through out my whole brunch. I felt the need to let the restaurant know by writing a message to them through their site about a month ago and I have yet to receive a response. It's really disappointing that a restaurant I with such potential has totally been ruined for me because of this experience. Any time I think Ambrizas, I now think of toilet water. I recommend trying this place out but beware of the toilets!! Check them to make sure they are working or just be safe and avoid them. Lol read more

My husband, 2 kids (3yr old and 1 year old) and I went at 530p on a Tuesday night and it was so good. There was no wait and the hostess sat us in a booth. My 1 year old had a highchair. We had Franco (Gianfranco) as our server and he was so friendly, fast, and warm. We ordered the street corn, Maduro envueltos, Pastor tacos, and enchiladas. The food was extremely tasty. especially the street corn. Both kids ate the corn and maduros. My husband did have the famous margaritas and he said it was delicious. The menu was really easy to navigate (especially since my 1 year old and I eat gluten free). There were lots of gluten free options in every category and it is indicated on the menu so you don't have to ask for a separate menu. The manager did a table touch at the end which is nice to see a manager engaged at all of the tables on a Tuesday night. The manager was very present as he was on the floor and talking to all the tables. Our server was always available and I never felt like I was looking for him (which is helpful when you are eating with 2 kids). We had to ask for a side of rice for my 3 year old since she changed her mind last minute and then we had to ask for plastic togo spoons for the kids, but Franco was always there so it didn't feel like we were a bother. There was a birthday a few tables down and it was nice to see. The place is very beautiful & bright. I loved the decor. My 3 yr old daughter said it reminded her of the movie "Coco." Overall, I would highly recommend for anyone who eats gluten free and/or with young kids. read more

We tried this out as it is a newer restaurant in the LaCenterra area. My partner got the lechon tacos and the tortilla was undercooked and hard, and the lechon was greasy, and there ended being a huge pool of grease on his plate. As for my order, I got the poblano quesadilla and halfway noticed what I thought was chicken, but actually turned out to be fried panela queso cubes....and was told it's supposed to be tofu... You are supposed to be an authentic Mexican place... nowhere in Mexico do they add fried panela queso cubes or anything for a tofu substitute in authentic cuisine... what is even more amusing is that the waiter at a different table was talking about how there's no "Tex-Mex" there but honestly, it really felt like it was more Tex-Mex. Besides that, the rice was dry and undercooked, and the salsa was watery. Our waitress was very nice but we would not come back here. For how expensive it is, the food is subpar. Had Saturday lunch. We stood there for at least five minutes before the manager came up and hugged a person that walked in and sat them and completely ignored us. We had to ask somebody if they would seat us and they did. That corn on the cob tasted OK but the corn was over cooked. It was too soft. The chorizo queso was pretty good but you can't really mess that up. We ordered the Barbacoa tacos and the meat was so overcooked it was mushy. Have absolutely no plans on going back. Drinks and ambiance was good as well as the food. However the service was slow and even though the food was good it wasn't enough and overpriced. We waited for a long time before our food came out. We had to ask for them to clear the table after our appetizers We had to ask for the check and then waited for the change, My husband had to track down the waiter after30 min of waiting for his change. My sister never received he bill and had to ask after we had left bec the waiter never brought it. If I go back it will be for drinks and an appetizer only.
