Wanted to start off stating that just because I'm an Amazonian does not mean this review will be biased. The Amazon Go store is such a cool addition to Seattle. I'm excited to see them pop up elsewhere so others can enjoy the fun. While the store is small, it's always stocked with amazing grab and go items. The process is simple!!download the Amazon Go app on your smartphone and you'll log into your existing Amazon account. This will give you instant access to your preferred payment methods stored on your account. You scan to get into the store and that is where the magic behind the curtains happens. Without getting into much detail (because we can't), the moment you've scanned into the store, anything you grab and place into your really cool AND FREE reusable Amazon Go bag is tracked. This scares some people as technology can be quite intimidating at this level! But trust me, it's accurate! I had not gone in a while but decided to stop by before a meeting in one of the neighboring offices. The process was flawless and I began my scan of items I was going to buy. As usual, I really just wanted a La Croix and ended up buying a ton of goodies because everything is reasonably priced! Not to mention they sell Blazing Bagels! This was awesome for me to see and despite the store being a roughly 20 minute walk from my office, I'm probably going to come a lot more often! They have a ton of bottled drinks, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, prepared dinner meals, veggies, now serving bottled alcohol! If I lived in seattle I would probably shop here all the time! In and out of Amazon Go never felt so easy. Amazon Go is located a few feet from the Amazon Sphere, which I'd also give a gander if you're in Seattle for a quick trip. In order to enter Amazon Go, you'll need to download the Amazon Go app first. Login to the app with your Amazon account and select your card payment of choice. To enter, you'll need to open the app, scan in to enter, begin your shopping, walk out, and be billed shortly after. It's super intuitive, clever, and smart. If you're bringing family members and friends, you can use your Amazon Go app to scan them in as well. When you scan them in, anything they grab will show up on your bill as well. From the outside, Amazon Go is very tiny and the selection of items are quite limited. However, if you're looking for a quick meal or snack, I'd definitely visit Amazon Go so I don't need to search for my wallet to pay. read more

I'm all for this futuristic, new way of shopping! Whether you're visiting or living in Seattle, Amazon Go is something you need to experience. How it Works: 1. Download the Amazon Go app. Sign in and register a credit card. 2. Open the app and scan your phone before entering. If you're coming with people who don't have the app, scan your phone and let them enter first before scanning yourself. 3. Pick up a free reusable bag (while supplies last)! 4. Shop away! Once you grab something, it'll automatically be added to your cart. If you put it back, it'll be removed. 5. Just walk out when you're done! Your receipt will show up on the app moments later. It'll definitely feel weird just walking out when you're done, but I'm all for it! No more waiting in long lines, dealing with bugs on self-scanners, carrying your wallet, talking to cashiers, or collecting piles of unwanted paper receipts! It's pretty amazing how their cameras can accurately identify their customers and automatically add/remove whatever you grab or put back on the shelves. I was a bit hesitant to touch and put back all of the items for fear that they wouldn't be removed from my cart, but my friends grabbed and put back several items and had accurate receipts. Remember that this is a convenience store and not a full-on grocery store, so don't expect much in terms of variety. I can't vouch for the pre-made food, as I only purchased small items like gum and water. However, my friends each got two different types of pre-made sandwiches and said they were pretty good. We also noticed that their prices were very affordable, at least compared to the prices we're used to in California! Tip: There's a small bar seating area to the side where you can sit and eat your food, grab utensils/condiments, microwave your food, and charge your electronics! The Amazon Go store was quite the experience. Luckily, one of my friends in my traveling party had visited earlier in the day and gave us the breakdown of how it all worked so we were ready to go. We made sure we had the app ready to go on our phones prior to getting to the store itself. Walking into the store was almost like a grab and go convenience store set up but with some subway turnstiles. You scan your QR code via the app when you enter and you're ready to go. The store itself is fairly small but there's a variety of some household grocery items on the right side of the store, and then a lot of packaged ready to eat things on the left hand side. There's some cool Amazon Go store exclusive items that they have at the store that would be great souvenirs. They had tumblers, mugs, and chocolate bars. You take anything that you want and once you're done, you leave the store. Through the magic of technology, they know exactly what you took and what you put back. In about 10 minutes or less you'll have an emailed receipt of what items you had taken and what was charged to the credit card that was linked to the Amazon account/app. The app didn't accept my gift card balance as a form of payment but it had to be a credit card. Overall, this store is very efficient and convenient. There wasn't a wait to check out and this place easily could have been chaotic with crazy lines with how many people were in there if this was a traditional market. There were It's a wide range of shoppers that were in here including people that worked in offices nearby, construction workers that are working on the next big building across the street, and I'm sure many tourists such as myself checking the store out. I wonder when they'll start rolling these stores out in other cities. This probably works best in a city setting where there's just the right amount of foot traffic. read more

So hyped to come here, but then confused once we were done...because it was just so fast. It kind of feels like you're stealing because it's so odd to just walk out! Here's how it works: 1. Download Amazon Go app 2. Scan app to enter store 3. Put whatever you want to purchase in your bag 4. Head out, then within minutes you'll receive you're itemized receipt I probably wouldn't do all my groceries here, but they have a lot of meal ready options, and part of the building includes microwaves and an eating area so you can have a quick meal or snack right after. There's also beer, wine and an employee to check your ID and assist you. The ceiling is covered with cameras that pretty much scans and watches you. You can come with a friend, but how the store works to confirm that person is part of your purchase and leaving at separate times is over my head. Amazing shopping experience! As the very first store of testing this technology, I think it's fun and eye opening. The selection of the store is not as wide as a grocery store, of course for its very first attempt. However, you'll find something that catch your eyes and plus - their pricing is reasonably fair. My favorite item, which can't be found elsewhere in downtown Seattle, was the panna cotta from Sweetaly. Amazingly good! Their sandwiches were pretty fresh and tasty. Their prepared food had pretty good presentation; all looking fresh including fruit too. Download their app or go with someone who has it so they can scan you in. Have fun walking around and put things you like in your bag. Then put things back if you changed your mind. Then just walk out when you are done shopping. Opening day visit! I'm ready to embrace this Black Mirror future. The line wrapped around the corner when I stopped by after work, but an employee said it would be about 8-10 minutes, and it wasn't even that long. The store has a capacity of about 79 people, so it's one in, one out for now. To get in, you need to have downloaded the Amazon Go app on your phone. Display your QR code face-down on the scanner, walk through the turnstile, and you're in. If someone else is with you, they just walk in ahead of you to be included on your bill, even if you split up. After you scan in, it really is seamless. Browse stuff, pick it up and put it back -- even on the wrong shelf -- and you won't be charged. When you enter the beer/wine area, an employee checks ID, but then you're on your own. Selection is limited, of course, but they have cold drinks, sandwiches and salads up front, baked goods from Macrina and Blazing Bagels, chips and candy, dairy and juice, and some cereals and dry goods. Of course, they also have Amazon meal kits for $20. Local brands seem to be given some preference: I saw Tim's chips, Tillamook cheese, Starbucks, and Theo chocolate bars, but also regular grocery store brands. Prices generally seem comparable to, say, QFC. An 8 oz bag of Tim's chips was on sale for $2. A case of La Croix was $3.69. Wine and beer were competitively priced. The grab-and-go meals seemed more expensive, like the $6 tofu banh mi. But everything is clearly signed and you can browse the app beforehand to see what's there, so no surprises. There's a very small indoor seating area with napkins and condiments and a few chairs, but it's cramped and doesn't have a particularly great view. You might as well grab your salad and go sit by the Spheres, which are just steps away. Out of curiosity, I did my share of picking things up and putting them back, and the cameras were not fooled. About 10 minutes after I left, a little notification popped up with my receipt. You can even do returns through the app, though I didn't see where in the store that would happen. Overall, a fun novelty and definitely worth visiting once for the experience. THE FUTURE IS HERE! What an amazing concept! When I had first read the news about Amazon Go, I was skeptical that it would work. I had to see it to believe it, so when I was in Seattle, I went to see it. And now I believe! It's very simple: download the Amazon Go app, sign in with your Amazon log-in, hold the QR code down on the turnstile scanner (as you would do with a boarding pass at the airport), enter, grab what you need, and walk out. Perfect for introverts who don't want to deal with cashiers. There's a wide selection of ready-made food, desserts, snacks, and junk food. So I had to check this place out when I was in Seattle. Five stars for the technology. Once you're signed in, you can literally walking into the store, grab what you need, and leave and it handles all the charging. Four stars for the pricing. Some was good, some not so much. Two stars for selection. Many of their shelves were wiped out with almost no prepared food available. Concerned this is more novelty than practicality, but I'm always a fan of tech improving and simplifying our lives, so I hope it's a concept used more. read more

THIS PLACE IS SO COOL!!! As a tech enthusiast (though not overly smart or tech-savvy), I had to check out this innovative store. It was the first time in my life that I felt like I was stepping into some futuristic movie scene, like something out of Aeonflux or the Matrix. I asked one of the Amazon helpers standing by how everything worked, and he smiled and said, "I'm sorry, but we can't reveal Amazon's secret sauce." Haha! The experience truly was something else. I picked up a few things and just... walked out. And I stopped after passing the turnstile area, looked at one of the Amazon guys, and gave a hesitant smile. He shrugged with his own smile and said, "Yup, you're good to go. You don't have to do anything else." I giggled and walked out like a kid who'd just been given free candy. The future is here. The space is on the small side but it doesn't matter because Go is designed to get you in and out quickly. There are some very nice Amazon employees on hand to help you if you have any questions. You can scan your friends in with you if they don't have the Go App on their phones but be aware that anything they walk out with will come off your account. There are snacks, alcohol, make-at-home meal kits, convenience foods - salads, pasta salads, sandwiches galore, etc. - but everything feels just a little more upscale. Way more Whole Foods than 7-11. I got a burrata sandwich, which came on good crusty bread with balsamic, roasted red peppers, and very generous globes of burrata. 10/10 sandwich. It didn't have that stale convenience store cold case flavor but had plenty of that delicious convenience store texture - you know, that thing where the ingredients have been friends long enough for the flavors to marry but not so long that they've become enmeshed and forgotten they're individuals. They have a great selection of hawt new products! I got a can of Spindrift made with only seltzer and fruit juice. La Croix, who? Though they do have La Croix in individual cans and full cases. You won't be able to get $1 Tornadoes or giant slurpees here but lunch still clocks in at under $10. Most of the sandwiches are $5-8 and there are some seriously good deals, too! An 8.5oz box of Maldon salt is $6.99, exactly what it costs on Amazon Fresh. Money and time well-spent! On your way out, there is a little area with bins of condiments, napkins, etc. so you can grab some and go to the adjacent green area or dog park to enjoy the sun! read more

Suuuper cool concept and feels like I'm shopping in the year 2040...how does it know what I take off the shelf?! They use a bunch of overhead cameras and somehow tie it to the app you have to download on your phone. You'll also need this app to actually get through the entrance turnstiles of the store, where you'll also get some free Amazon Go reuseable grocery bags! I was a little bummed at how small the store actually was and how "normal" the prices were. I wasn't expecting super low prices but some of the products were actually a little more than other stores. I think the goodness in this store lies with the smaller takeout items (i.e. sandwiches, ready-made pastas, etc) and the meal kits that their known for. Another perk is the convenient parking just downstairs - it was free for at least 30 minutes! Limited selection, but what they have they do well. They are targeted at being a grab and go lunch spot for Amazon employees so most of what they sell is pre-made lunches. It's convenient, but subpar for people with food allergies. I haven't seen this location have lines in years. My mom picked up a sandwich here that she enjoyed. I used to love the shrimp and grits Amazon meal, but this location never had it in stock (only the larger Cap Hill one did and they seem to have discontinued it). A lot of their premade foods have nuts, so I couldn't try them. The salads seem nice but are priced highly. Granted, Whole Foods salads cost even more and I've found flies in mine. If you want a lunch salad go anywhere else. They have a large drinks section, but they are split into 2 parts of the store. Due to Covid the store is 1-way wandering and I didn't notice the cheeped drinks are at the end and the beginning ones are more expensive. The candy section was disappointing. They chose healthier brands. Skip the sour gummy worms. Honestly you can find everything here and have more selection at the Target a few blocks away. The main benefit here is no line, and the food is more grab-and-go. read more

Dropped in while in town for business on its launch day 1/22/19. The store is well stocked, with a good variety of products that include freshly made baked good, sandwiches, juices and all of the packaged foods everybody seems to like. The sandwiches we bought tasted freshly made, and the prices are good compared to other stores. I don't know if this concept will work everywhere. This is a very controlled environment. I do like the speed of service when wanting to purchase food, and related items. Amazon said they will not use this checkout system at Whole Foods. I guess that's a wait and see. read more

This is such a novel concept that you should go, just to try it out. You need to download the Amazon Go app and sign in with your account. You scan the QR code at the gate and in you go! The assortment of food is not really super special with the exception of some Amazon Go specific chocolate you can buy. One of the worst stores in the country! They have a lot of issues now. They used to be good when they first started, but amazon has gone down the tubes. The customer service is the worst! Whether trying to solve a problem online, chat, call, or email, they just do not get it. Most of the agents/customer service do not read, know, or understand English well so can never help to solve a problem. I have reached my break point with them and will stop using amazon or going here anymore. There are other stores much better that have much better customer service and stand behind their products they sell better than amazon. OVERALL: 10/10, AKA "FINALLY I CAN CHECK IN HERE ON YELP AND NOT FEEL WEIRD ABOUT IT!!" This place is the perfect hybrid of a convenience store size plus medium-sized tech-focused grocery: it has the beer/wine/soda/snacks for your party, plus the frozen/refrigerated foods for your weekend (if you're staying in, that is). Context: I've been coming here since the beta opened for full-time employees, for almost every possible occasion... 1. night-time munchies, 2. grabbing something quickly for breakfast, 3. a sandwich for a lunch break, 4. buying some batteries for my headphones, or 5. buying snacks for hosting a party after work. The way this place works is combining computer vision with machine learning and natural behavioural understanding - when you pull something from a shelf, it goes into a "virtual cart", which is then submitted and checked out immediately upon departure (caveat: to generate the QR code you need a valid Amazon account and linked payment method). The review breakdown is fairly straightforward: 1) VARIETY/SELECTION: 10/10. For a place this size, the buyers know exactly what to stock; this is mostly based on customer requests / inquiries, but it's also based on machine learning models, which use data. Amazon is definitely making data-driven selection choices to help drive customer conversions. 2) FRESHNESS: 10/10. The cooks create breakfast sandwiches, pre-made meal kits, and sandwiches fresh, every day, so you never need to worry about stale food choices or options. Plus, the shelves are constantly balanced and re-stocked to ensure that you're always looking at the freshest products. 3) VALUE FOR MONEY: 10/10. The prices are very comparable to the competition; beer/wine compares to the Downtown Wine and Spirits a couple of blocks away, the snacks / groceries / non-alcoholic beverages cost the same as what you'd find at other convenience stores / Whole Foods / QFC / Safeway. 4) SERVICE: 9.5/10. The only major service points are when you enter (need to show employee the QR code you're going to scan), and your ID if you want to peruse / purchase the wine / beer in the back corner. All entry points are fairly frictionless, but I'm docking 0.5 stars because there's been times when nobody was at the wine/beer section (pre-public-launch) to check IDs, which is dangerous if it ever happens post-launch. 5) PRICE: 10/10. It's hard to argue with the prices in general - Amazon Go has regular sales on products, all of which provide meaningful value. For example, Pringles lightly salted is $1.25 right now, where its normally $2.00; that's a 37.5% discount! Even the normal priced selection is reasonable - a non-breakfast sandwich ranges from $5.25 to $7.75, and there is a great selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Yes, there were lines on the first day... I went this morning at 9:30am and experienced no such wait. The inside of the store definitely seemed more busy than I was used to (and people were generally more rude about blocking aisles and throughways, argh), but I don't feel like the post-launch experience is going to differ that much from the 30+ times I visited during the beta. The only noticeable difference now is that there *has* to be someone to check ID at the wine/beer section during all open hours. read more

Ok wow, this is the coolest concept. It's almost too much for today's consumption of grocery shopping. Its a strange concept to walk into a grocery store, grab what you want, then just walk out and not speak to anyone. I literally downloaded the app outside the store, walked in and bagged up like 15 small items, then headed for the door. To get a tall can of beer I had to show a guy in the back my ID, but no biggy, I'm only like 45ish. Love it, going to hit this place every time on my way back home from work. Only thing I didn't like, very limited selection of foods. Overall, nothing bad to say, its just ahead of its time I think. People may not be ready for something so advance and game changing yet. This must be a sign of the times " Amazon Prime Member" I ordered Coleman tent instructions were "someone needs to home to sign for." Delivery date 11/14 by 9PM. I checked on the tracking sometime after 6:30 it showed delivered. I called as it was not received. I was asked to wait until 6pm the following day, if not received call back and ask for shipping. 11/15 called back, again verifying account I explained the item had not been delivered. After being on hold, the agent transferred me without any notice, so asked her to read the notes. I also asked for a Supervisor 2day for over 1 hr I wanted it re-shipped, not a refund. The supervisor, said "you need to file a police report & contact USPS to see where it was delivered. I live in a complex of buildings, I believe it was Amazons place to find out where it was deliver or file a claim. She said no once it is given to the carrier it becomes my responsibility!! Incredible, !! Then she HUNG UP.. Livid I called back, and started all over, spoke with Supervisor? Adrian who repeated the same information, that was in terms & conditions. I asked for a copy attached is what he sent, since when is the customer liable from hand off to shipper? Will be the last time I use Amazon, I have been ordering my groceries and have about 2-3 items sent monthly. So question? initial tracking was UPS looking today it was handed off to USPS apparently I am responsible for USPS & UPS!! Soon after that, they will send you the receipt via the app. I am not worry at all if it should charge the wrong amount. Amazing great customer service, for sure, will take care of that. You can request a return through the app. (I have not got to use it) It charged me correct amounts all the time. Have the AmazonGo app on a phone and always check in 2 people, with my wife. If you haven't gone you need to go because the technology is amazing the whole idea and concept behind walking into a grocery store and walking out is revolutionary concept and great that Amazon pulled it off. This is not a place you want to come and do your grocery shopping but it's a good convenient store. Amazon Go is a awesome place to check out maybe grab a drink, some food, or some snacks. Also they actually sell alcohol. I did ask the associate working on how the whole regulations work it and she said there has to be an employee working who checks ID and then you're able to grab your alcoholic beverage and walk out. The whole idea behind Amazon go is amazing so if you haven't gone yet definitely go and check it out. Amazon Go is closed on the weekends and open until 9pm on weekdays. Also you do need to download the Amazon Go app and if you're planning to come with family they don't need to download the app, one is sufficient enough to get everyone inside. read more

Finally got to check this place out when I visited Seattle. This is a connivence store rather than a grocery store. The store is clean and everything is easy to find. They do sell wine and beer here but its a small selection due to the store size. When you walk in, you scan your friends/family first before scanning yourself out. They have a lot of different prepackaged foods like salads, sandwiches, and microwaveable foods. I didn't get to try the meal kits that they had but I did try their microwaveable salmon teriyaki lunch box. They also have a dining area with a microwave if you decide to eat the food there. The salmon was fantastic considering it was microwaveable food. The teriyaki sauce pair well with the salmon and it wasn't overly sweet. I like this place because you can just grab what you want/need and walk about without the hassle of waiting in line to pay. read more

This is more a fancy 7-11 than a grocery store. Very small footprint, but has most of what you want for snacks, drinks, or even meal kits. The novelty is high here. Fun way to shop, a Seattle only experience and/or yeah another sign Amazon is taking over your last life. Pick your reason to go. It's a small convenience store but one with a lot of fresh meals to go. Coming from Philly I will argue the Italian Sandwich is just wrong but the selection is wide. It's a great place to grab breakfast or lunch if you work in the area. Stopped in for my first cashier-less shopping trip upon my return home from work. I parked and walked in around 16:30. I was surprised that there wasn't a queue out the door to get inside the store; but there was a good sized crowd shopping. I would love to see this type of shopping experience expand to a full-sized grocery store. Until then AmazonGo is a quick and easy way to shop for on-the-go sandwiches, etc. **Their meal kits are great! This store is an introvert's dream. You would need to download the app to get in and after that, select the items you want and walk out. I want to say that this reminds me of Whole Foods with lots of healthy options to choose from. You can also find some convenient items like batteries, toothbrush, razors, etc. For the whole ~10 minutes we were there (this duration will actually show on your receipt), we took and put some items back. The impressive part about it was that we received the receipt the next day and the charges were spot on. The prices were decent here for the convenience you're receiving. Great store!! We took a tour of the spheres and needed lunch, so we decided to stop in this store and head back to the hotel for a bit. So glad we did!! It's nice how it all works, especially for an introvert like me. We got a wrap and a Caesar salad and both were really good! read more

Amazon Go is supposed to be convenient, but it is not. I went there to return. The shopkeeper told me II had to get into the store to do the return. even I can reach the counter from the entry area. To get inside the store, I have to use a credit card or a phone, but I have neither of them. What a stupid store policy. read more
