A legendary spot in Pike Place Market! I had many friends suggest I visit this spot while in Seattle and it was worth the hype...especially if you love tea. Every tea imaginable is available here, plus they're particularly famous for their orange cinnamon black tea (which tastes like non-alcoholic Fireball). A lovely little tea shop nestled in the corner of Pike's Place Market. I would consider it a core part of the tourist Pike's Place experience, since it is located nearby the fish-slingers and offers unique samples of exquisite tasting teas. Their cold tea sampler was a refreshing, rejuvenating part of walking through Pike's Place and I purchased some individual tea bags with some crazy flavors (there was a "pho broth" tea!). The employees are super friendly and they've got some funny gimmick "loot box" type random bags for adventurous types. Huge fan, will bring others back. read more

Great spice and tea shop in Pike Place Market! Shops can be hard to find in the market but this spot is right near the famous spot where they throw the fish. They have tons of spices and teas that are affordably priced! I bought some Italian sausage seasoning, savory vinaigrette herb mix, dried chives, and bay leaves. It was all only $12. Very well priced and affordable. It's worth a stop by if you're into cooking or need to refill on spices or tea. I wish I had bought more when I was there. read more

This little tea and spice shop at Pike Place is a gem and a great place to buy gifts and souvenirs. The cinnamon orange is their iconic signature tea. Right at the entrance, they have samples of the hot tea to lure you in. It's very good! (For anyone who's been to the Kobuk tea shop in downtown Anchorage or at the ANC airport, this tea is very similar to their Samovar tea! A good substitute!) They offer a range of packaged tea that come in teabags and also loose leaf. The smell is incredible. I bought a few on my most recent visit to give away as xmas gifts and also bought a bag of loose leaf tea for myself. Be careful and make sure to read the labels cuz they cone in caffeinated and decaf (I absolutely have to have caffeinated). There are way more teas and they have a wall of spices. I also saw that they sold yerba mate and also the mate cups you drink out of which was cool to see. The cashier was friendly. It's a small space so hard to linger. As a former local resident, I recently visited Market Spice about a month ago and made what I thought was a simple purchase of tea. Unfortunately, I accidentally bought two boxes of caffeinated tea instead of decaf. When I returned to the store to request an exchange only (not a refund), I was told it was impossible without a receipt. Even though I showed proof of purchase on my credit card, they were completely inflexible and refused to make the exchange. I wasn't asking for money back just a straightforward swap. The staff was unprofessional and unwilling to work with a longtime customer in good faith. This kind of rigid, unhelpful policy does not reflect well on a local business that should value its community and loyal patrons. To top it off, the register actually asked for a tip on a purchase they wouldn't even stand behind. If the establishment had shown any flexibility, this would not be a one-star review. Staff needs to be better trained on how to treat long time customers. Not returning nor am I recommending! read more

MarketSpice is a retail shop located in the Pike Place Market that dates back to 1911. We got to taste some of the tea samples and ended up going in to look around. Service was ok, not super friendly, but no real complaints. I just was not impressed and there was a lack of personality of the employees that did not feel too inviting. It is a cute little shop with a variety of teas and picked up a Bee mug for my Mom, and a 10-Teabag Pack of the MarketSpice Cinnamon-Orange Signature Black Tea and a Chai 10-Teabag Pack. I love this tea so much, because it reminds me of home. Whenever I run out, I won't even throw away the box until a new one arrives! Love it! Spiced Cider Mix (4 oz.): Another winner! I tried a sample & immediately had to take home with me. Reminds me of a warm hug. It's fragrant & perfect for winter. I also purchased this for my brother & sister-in-law. They loved it as well. Note: Be sure to also purchase Apple Cider at the grocery store to complete this mix! Cinnamon-Orange & Clove Hot Chocolate(6oz.): Purchased for the first time; it's a unique combo. Glad I tried it. Milk is needed. I tried it with almond milk. Chai Tea(10 bags): Purchased for the first time. I also love that there are also smaller samples to buy at MarketSpice. Im 61 and have been going there to visit since I was a kid and mom worked at Seattle Pub Library. The cinnamon orange tea is in a huge pot, ready to fill a cup. The taste is so awesome you wont want to leave it. The amount of spices, herbs and flavors is incredible. Last time I was there I bought a couple pounds of the tea since I have 4 kids, my wife and I really enjoy it hot or cold. I have always made sure I stopped by as we did last time in the last 5 minutes till they closed. The workers are awesome, The cashier told me that it is best to put the tea in a glass airtight container when I bought a pound of the Cinnamon Orange tea and the other was in a glass container. Make sure you have lots of time to review the shelves of the herbs, spices, oils, and flavors you need for cooking or candies or other. The cooking items, and other are at a good price. Its very clean and well kept. The smell is so awesome you wouldnt want to leave. You wont be disapointed. read more

Ok first of all, the Googlemaps directions to find Market Spice were very confusing/did not lead me to the correct location, so it took me longer than it should have to find it--but it's right by the main entrance of the market, right behind/to the left where the iconic fish throwing stand is. When I walked in, there is immediately some hot tea to consume--I ended up grabbing this on my way out due to the slight line, but it was really good! It was their orange cinnamon tea, sweetened, and it was piping hot which is my ideal tea temp, especially on a nippy Seattle Saturday morning. The store is smallish, and there was a decent amount of people present, so it was a bit tight to navigate. The store has a good assortment of tea, spices, and candles! I grabbed some of their orange cinnamon tea bags, and a candle, and the person checking me out was pleasant and efficient. I will definitely be back to restock on tea! read more

They are located in pikes market, which makes them difficult to get to because of parking, but it's definitely worth the push. On top of that. The place as I'm sure you can imagine, is filled with tourists that are more interested in other things going on in the marketplace, so shopping at market spice for me, it's a perfect little getaway from the rest of the market. The staff is amazing. I love how knowledgeable they are, but interestingly enough, they are also open to learning. I was having a conversation with one of them about a specific spice and she clued me into some new options, and I was able to share some knowledge with her that she wasn't aware of. Literally an amazing experience to be able to share information in that regard. They are reasonably priced, and I walked out with a little bit of this, and a little bit of that, and all I know, is that I will be cooking and baking for months to come. What I really love is that they have an online presence, and any other items can be ordered online and shipped directly to you. #Winning They also offer a variety of teas from green tea varieties, to herbal to some amazing black tea options. There were three people working and none of them cared about helping customers. I stood at the checkout for over 5 minutes none of them acknowledged me, and then helped someone who was there after me first and then despite me standing right behind her the guy just walked away again. There were no other customers in there after that and they all just ignored me and my friend and finally when I said something the man said to me we have other things to do too you don't have to yell(which I did not, but I was clearly annoyed) and then the manager went ahead and backed him up and made me out to be the bad guy for speaking up about them being rude and not doing their job. I get that you have other jobs to do but helping customers is your #1 job and especially when there are 3 people stocking and zero helping customers. My friend and I both left without buying anything and we will be going to world spice now instead. read more

With so many teas to choose from, MarketSpice is like tea heaven. We enjoyed smelling each tea to see if it was a fit for us, and learning about the hundreds of options. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we appreciated their assistance in helping us make multiple selections. Our favorite was the Fox and Rabbit Tisane. It is delicious, refreshing and has become one of our favorite options. If you enjoy tea on any level, I would be absolutely shocked if you couldn't find something you loved in this store. Amazing array of spices. The jars also have creative cartoons on the outside. I liked the artistic appeal. The shop smells wonderful and they have many teas available from around the world. The bad news, is that it is hard to read the names on the jars. Some are turned, so you cannot see what is inside them. There is a sign that stops you from being behind a variety of spice jars. It is not easy to be able to shop and see the spices from this point. I saw a young man, staying at the boundary line trying to peer at the jars. A young blond male employee appeared unhappy with being at work at this store. He yelled at the customer, shouting "Stay back!" and did not offer to help him in any way. He went back behind the counter, glowering at customers. I had planned to ask him about some of the spice blends. He was so unpleasant, I opted to go elsewhere to buy spices and left. Don't let the name fool you - this place has a lot more than just spices. I bought some butterfly pea flower tea. They happened to have some for sampling and I've been wanting to try this forever. It's a tea that looks blue, but if you add lemon it will turn a violet or purple due to the change in pH. The taste is wonderful too. High in antioxidants and other health benefits. Bought my daughter some different tea too. My son bought some gorgeous brass/copper salt and pepper grinders. They are almost too pretty to use. Would definitely go back there again. read more

Market Spice is a really cool tea shop! It's fairly small with a LOT of activity. My friend sand I came to Market Spice on a Friday afternoon. It was packed. So packed that I was afraid I'd knock over something while excusing myself in the aisles as people shopped. I would say, parents if you have kids with you keep them extremely close or it could be a mess. There were 2 store associates sharing the load of cashier and making your persona bags of tea. A few times the person helping the 3 of us had to stop and run to the cash register to close people out, so be sure to exercise patience here. Between the 3 of us we purchased the following flavors of tea: Kentucky Bourbon Tea Minty Rose Slumber in Seattle Breathe Deep Morning Sun Tea Market Chai We wanted to purchase a lot more but felt like we were taking up too much of the sales associate's time. Again, it was a packed house! I haven't sampled all of the tea we purchased, just one .. the Kentucky Bourbon Tea. This does not include alcohol although it definitely sound like it does. I did however, add a little whiskey to my nice hot cup of Kentucky Bourbon Tea. It makes for a killer Hot Toddy! We're DEFINITELY stopping by again for more tea and because we didn't try any of the spices. read more

This is an okay place in Pike Place Market. If I were a tourist, I'd probably give it four or five stars. But I am not, and three stars is "A-Ok", which sums this place up pretty well. They sell a variety of tea blends, coffee, herbs, and spices. They also have some small kitchen and tea/coffee accessories. These all look pretty nice. I needed a few spices for the duck breasts I picked up at the meat market nearby, so I stopped in here to get them. I like that they get the spices for you, and they have several people doing that. Keeps the thousands of customers' hands out of the spice jars. But their tea and spice jars all look like they could use a nice hot water and soap wash. I think it's just the dust and grime of time in Pike Place Market that's accumulated on them. It should be removed. The other thing that kept me from going to four stars is I asked for pink salt for curing. Pink salt is a pretty well known way to refer to curing salt. I asked if they had it. They said they did. What did I find in my bag when I got home? Himalayan pink salt--not a curing salt at all. So, if you're nearby and need spices (or tea or coffee), this is an okay place. If you're a tourist, it's a great place. read more
