I've gone to this spot 2 times now and have not been disappointed either time. Some of the best and freshest tasting donuts in the area with decent drinks as well. Any donut lover should give this spot a try

Gluten free

The only place you can get GREAT gluten free donuts! You need to order them ahead of time (about an hour) but worth it!! I'd do it more often if I could order them online instead of calling.

We were greeted as we come in. The staff was friendly and explained to us what they have, as this is our first time. Service wise, 4 stars. Amazing Glazed is like a coffee shop... there are donuts, coffee, latte, ice cream. There are a few tables to dine in as well. As for the donuts, it's a pass for me. Don't like the texture of the donuts. The lady behind the counter told us it's fresh made, but it's not warm. The toppings are good. The donuts have to be eaten immediately because after a few hours, it's meh.. almost stale like. Overall, 3 stars.

This place is nestled in a quiet, not so traveled area of Chesapeake. It is small but has a lot to offer. They have candles (chocolates), ice cream and DONUTS! These donuts are not like Krispy Kreme donuts. They are cake donuts. They make them to order, but they are not piping hot. I would say that was my biggest disappointment. The staff is friendly and polite. The lace is clean. The donuts can be completely customizable which can get a bit overwhelming if you're not a donut connoisseur. They have different flavors of donuts and a 100 million ways to make them with a variety of toppings and glazes. I would recommend them, but I took my donuts home and put them in the oven at 170 to keep them warm. We had a few leftover the next morning and they were not good reheated. I forgot to take pics of the donuts. so you got a picture of the box.

Lemon, glazed, churro and s'mores

Amazing service, dozens of flavors, cute little spot to eat your donut at the coffee bar. What's not to love?! Got the lemon, glazed, churro, and the s'mores. By far the churro is the best. But I can't wait to go back and try more. Served warm and with a smile. It doesn't get much better! So thankful for this little gem in my neck of the woods!

Donuts, ice cream, coffees, candies and coffee syrups oh my! Donuts are freshly made. They have stools available for kids to watch the donuts come out. Perfect way to cool down on this hot day! They have indoor and outdoor sitting. Private parking area. I'd go during a non-busy day. Getting out of the parking lot might be a headache during rush hour. You can always call ahead for pickup for easy in and out service. Bathroom is available and highchairs as well! Staff is awesome and patient.

The setup is 4 stars with books set up for different things - a party space, a candy space, an ice cream space, a donut space... very cute and reminds you of old timey candy store - they even have cotton candy machine! The friendliness was 3 stars, maybe they were about to closed... the donuts are cake donuts like Duck Donuts but they weren't even warm!! The cake batter was bland. The toppings were not dipped, they used little plastic spoons (like those used for ice cream) to spread the sauce toppings. I just wish it wasn't so underwhelming , I wanted so badly to be impressed

"AMAZING". Very unique, donuts made to order. Weekends have yeast donuts as well. All were delicious! Staff was exceptional!

Chocolate with regular icing and sprinkles Chocolate Boston cream Jelly donut (regular cake with raspberry jelly and sugar coating)
Amanda S.

Who doesn't like donuts? Am I right?!! These are fresh, warm, made to order donuts. They're cake donuts (different than the soft melty donuts) I love that it's a local place. (No chain/franchise) If you are unfamiliar with Chesapeake, you might miss the shop. They have little stepstools for the little ones to watch the donuts being made. They have a menu board, but you can customize the donuts to whatever you like. They have flavors of the seasons: Sometimes apple cider, sometimes chocolate. I've never had anything I didn't like. They have coffee and ice cream, which I'm sure is amazing too. (No pun intended)

Which is nothing new, but it moves pretty quickly. I'm a talker so I'll always find someone to talk to while waiting to make the time go by faster. Their flavor schedule changes, so follow them on Facebook. This week they had cinnamon sugar, klassic glazed, and strawberry. I got glazed and strawberry. I got a dozen last time and realized the texture changes after the first day. You can pop them in the microwave, but it'll never be the same as the fresh ones because they thicken up. So I highly recommend eating some before you even get out of the parking lot to get the best melt in your mouth experience!! The glazed is one of my favorite. It's a little crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It sincerely melts in your mouth. They're also pretty big, and while waiting you can see them making the donuts, with the glaze dripping off. It's exciting to get to the front after waiting in line. The strawberry one was good, but not better than the original glazed. I can't wait to try the lemon one. The staff is always friendly and they keep the line moving!! You can also preorder to skip the line. If you see them, I absolutely recommend stopping to try at least 1. You won't regret it. Lol. Check them out!!!

My husband and I are regulars at Big Ugly but I've never taken the opportunity to try Taxus Street until this week. I tried to come on Monday and quickly learned they were closed, so returned the following day. They operate inside the brewery and have a nice setup in the corner. There is lots of seating - bars and high tops - and it's a great spot for a morning gathering. There was a meeting in the upstairs loft happening during my visit. The barista who assisted me was working solo. She was super friendly and happy to answer my questions. I was glad to hear they offer decaf espresso. I opted to try one of their seasonal lattes - the Mounds Bar latte with almond milk, mocha and coconut cold foam. It took only a few minutes for my order to be prepared. I did find the drink to be slightly sweet for my taste and would ask for half sweet on my next visit. For the lactose intolerant, they have almond and oat milk options. They also have several pastries and some hot food options to choose from like overnight oats and breakfast burritos from Burrito Perdido. I was really pleased with my recent visit and I'll be happy to come back soon!

Everything I've had here is delicious, but here are some of my favorites: UBE BLONDIES *** Probably one of their most signature items that stays on the menu season to season, this crumbly, satisfyingly dense, soft baked good with that nice punch of ube flavor will really have you coming back for more. The frosting glaze is just perfect, adding that sweetness that carries the ube flavor really nicely. The texture is just soooo satisfying, you can just tell when you cut your fork through it that it has this airy, yet dense and crumbly texture. TURON FRITTER Kind of like an apple fritter, but oh so crumbly, delicious, bright, and soft on the inside. Also had their brown sugar boba pudding cup when it came out, and it was really good; the tapioca actually blended quite nicely and was chewy and fresh, which means you're not stuck chewing it forever. Definitely on the sweeter side, but brown sugar items tend to be that way.

Needless to say the food was so good, pics proved to have zero chance. Sooo after a rough week, a Saturday late morning breakfast was calling for a much needed downtime to sit and enjoy... and well here we go: Some say happiness in a bottle, I say Happiness in a glass! Their iced praline mocha is soooo good! The right balance of mocha and coffee, not overly sweet but enough to give you a pick me up while enjoying their amazing food! Next time must try their lavender latte or pistachio... but gotta get it before 5/31 as it's available for a limited time! Definitely recommend the brekki bowl with cheese grits and fried chicken! You will not be disappointed. Cheese grits like "buhhhttah" without the oily and maybe the calories?! But honestly, so flavorful and creamy without the guilty feeling for having something that tastes so good. The veggies are fresh and perfectly cooked to give you great texture contrast. And let me tell you about their fried chicken!! Chefs kiss! Moist, flavorful lightly breaded chicken fried to perfection that had a slight kick for this girl. In full disclosure black pepper is spicy for me so take that with a grain of salt. And for those of you like me that believe there is never too much salt and add salt to your salt but need to cut that bad habit... this whole dish is the perfect amount of salt. I literally never had to add just a little more. The goat cheese crumbles gave each bite the little extra tah-dah pop that might have been otherwise gotten had you like me added a few more shakes of salt to the dish. Seriously though, if you are watching to slowly cut back on having to add salt to your food, this dish is for you! The service was great and everyone was friendly and hustling! This place is the best for a quick sit down or a group brunch. I saw a table of like 10 menly bros enjoying a huge selection of food, drinks, and catching up. Really awesome to see that as the next few tables were a mix of families with and without kids, in laws, aunts and uncles just coming together for amazing food, great and accurate service, and overall fantastic experience ina random Saturday morning!

I…read morestumbled upon it when I ordered take out at La Taqueria Hacienda (s/o to Theresa M for putting it on my radar). There is a direct indoor passage from La Taqueria Hacienda to MRTL, my youngest and I went to take a peek while we waited for our takeout order. It's a small store but lots of great stuff packed into it. At the front, there are some freezers and fridges with frozen treats (paletas, mangonadas etc) and other prepared goods from local businesses like flan and tres leches from Jessy's. The first front aisle is dedicated to a showcase of Mexican baked goods also brought in from local bakeries. The next few aisles are filled with grocery store items. I love seeing the products that familiar brands release in other markets. Will have to go back for the Palmolive fruity bar soap. It smelled so good ! All the way back, is the butcher with all sorts of meats, both plain and marinated. After we did a once over to see what the store offers, I couldn't help myself with the baked goods. I see/hear about baked goods and it's a trigger word (a good trigger). My eyes start to glaze over and I start making my way over LOL. I stopped a staff member and I asked her about all the goods. I wish she could truly understand the level of my enthusiasm and curiosity and I think she did the best she could to describe all the items, but I made do with what she shared and I just went with what looked good. She said that the case under the La Sabrosita had been delivered that day, so she didn't need to tell me twice. We got 4 things (these are not the proper names as I have no idea, just descriptions): - sugar donut with custard - classic sugar yeasty donut with custard, except, they don't poke a hole and fill it, they slice it in half and slather the custard. I loved this one. - puff pastry with cream inside and then a thin layer of icing type coating on top, and then rolled back in the puff pastry crumbs? These type of pastries tend to be on the dry side. It was pretty straight forward and it was pretty big. - cake/bread with sesame seeds - this reminds me of a homemade pound cake (not store bought) or madeleine type texture, not cake and not bread, in the middle. The size is pretty large (picture those jumbo muffins at Costco that you have to buy two packs) and it's topped with sesame seeds. Great morning item. I loved this one too. - Cinnamon cake - there was a thin layer of a cinnamon mixture at the bottom, majority of the cake/bread and then the top had a crack-ly crust, piped with what looked like a cinnamon stick, but it's actually another edible cake thing. On the drier side, but more meant to be another morning item with coffee or tea. My youngest loved this one with her milk. The items were not small either. The best part of all this, was when I went to pay, I was floored at the final total. I thought she had made a mistake. It was SOOOOO cheap! It was $8 and some change. The girl chuckled at my disbelief and she said the price had gone up. Well, don't mind if I do. I'll definitely be back and check out their meats back there too.
