A delight to eat in the restaurant, the staff were attentive and of course the food was outstaning. Especially for me the Biryani.

Without a doubt the best Indian meal I've ever had. Followed closely only by their sister restaurant, Chutney Mary. They more than earned their Michelin Star and deserve a second! Every dish was fantastic, but the standouts were: Seafood platter - Includes scallop, prawn, and fried oyster. Devine. Palawan is the unexpected standout here. Black Pepper Chicken tikka - perfectly tandoori grilled, moist, and flavorful. Crispy Cabbage and Noodle Salad - Fresh, light, satisfyingly crunchy. I could eat this all day and feel good about myself. Minced chicken lettuce parcel - Lettuce wrap with a light curry chicken, perfect way to start your meal Punjabi Channa Chaat Tart - Explosion of all your favorite Indian street food flavors in a single bite. Butter chicken - Don't judge me, but this was amazing. My only wish is it was a bit spicier. Truffle naan - Superb complement to the butter chicken Cocktails were also great. I especially liked: Smoked Old Fashioned - Perfectly executed, lingering smoke lasted throughout the drink. G'Old Fashioned - A fig dominant old fashioned with notes of coconut and an Indian whiskey base. More unique than the Smoked Old Fashioned, and a tad bit lighter. Service was impeccable, and I especially liked our server's willingness to be honest with us about his thoughts on the dishes. Felt like we were friends by the end of the night :) Prices were reasonable given the quality, and since it's tapas style, you could order light and get away under £100pp. read more

A superb Indian dining experience. Nestled in the Halkin Arcade....decadent entrees await you. The staff is wonderful and attentive to any and all needs from start to finish. We really enjoyed the open kitchen concept where the artisan cooks grilled in tandem completing each dish in the tawa (a vast griddle), and the sigri (a charcoal grill). Each dish is aromatic and flavorful and dance on your tastebuds. I would suggest you try at least one item from each group (chicken, lamb and seafood) to get the full experience of how Indian spices truly enhance a dish. The garlic naan is always a must but you should also order the truffle naan which is outstanding. Some of the dishes are extremely spicy (not an issue for my group) but it is just something to keep in mind if you're new to Indian spices. Amaya is such a hidden gem! We did the pre fixe lunch platter and it was a wonderful amount of food and great for someone like me who always wants to try a bite of everything on the menu. I did the full lunch platter which came with 7 different dishes from plus naan. My friend did the vegetarian version which had most of the same items except the 2 proteins which were replaced with vegetarian dishes. So happy to have stumbled upon this gem of a place. We got the platter where we could try all their highlights on the lunch menu and it was amazing. My favorite bite was the fish and we also ordered the biriyani additional which was also a standout. Everything on that platter was delicious. This was excellent. We came and ordered a lot, with my favorites being the sweet potato chaat, lamb chops, and minced chicken. Overall I'd say this is a great place for very well made accessible Indian food. Of our group of four, I have Gymkhana in a totally different league, while the other three (who don't handle spice as well and aren't looking for something particularly new) all were at least slightly more neutral or even preferred Amaya, so I think it's largely dependent on what you're looking for in an Indian meal. Food and service were excellent. Portion size was the smallest I've ever had and far to expensive. 5 people came out to over 1,000 GBP! Not worthy of a Michelin rating, not enough, not worth it in any way. The worst part was the table of unruly, loud and disgusting patrons behind us. No manners! Wild animals act better! At one point the man at the table of his WIVES and children spit on the floor next to my family member who was wearing a dress. He thought she shouldn't wear such revealing clothing outside and cursed at the whole table telling us we are heathens and that women shouldn't be seen and that our men should punish us women. Welcome to the 21st century London. If men from other places can't deal with women wearing and saying what they want they shouldn't dine out in London! Lovely experience in late July 2021 coming out of COVID times. It was, blissfully, a non issue during the meal so could focus on what matters; food and service. We shared quite a few dishes, and they seem to change with time so the website doesn't have the full selection, but what I will say is that for a one Michelin star place it very much lived up to expectations, each dish was filled with so much nuance and talent plus service was excellent. Attentive let casual and unpretentious. We did have the chilli lamb and the prawns, both of which seem to be menu standards so can't fault there. Also had a salted ice cream, sweet pastry dessert (I forget the name...) which was a lovely sweet end to the meal. Cocktails also fantastic; wife had their version of a Pimm's cup and myself their negroni. At £13 each not a bad price for the neighborhood or level of restaurant. read more

Perfect meal every time! I am already looking forwards to my next trip to London and Amaya.

We had a tough time deciding on which Indian restaurant to try when we traveled to London. We just love Indian food and can appreciate the different flavors and levels of sophistication ranging from street food like samosas to more elegant fusion type cuisine. Our mind was made up when our friend, who travels frequently to the UK and is quite a foodie himself, verified that our research on the conde naste and yelp sites got it right when they touted Amaya. We were not disappointed. The space itself is contemporary with high ceilings, simple wood top tables many of them with a close up view of the open kitchen. Our server who initially thought we looked like regulars, was very attentive and made several recommendations. The owner also stopped by to make sure we were enjoying which was a lovely touch. I asked for a sample of two different red wines before committing to the Italian Barolo. The wine by the glass list was very nice. My husband sipped on a cocktail which he seemed to enjoy. We ordered several small plates and finished with a shrimp curry and some garlic Naan. We started with the tandoor grilled prawns, the Bronzino, the arugula pomegranate salad, chicken tikka and the broccoli small plate. All were just delicious and many of them prepared on their grills. The plating was pretty, if not over the top. The flavor profiles really worked. We didn't opt for dessert because we were so full. But we did enjoy our tea service. Although this is not your average curry row or brick lane joint, and the prices reflect the sophisticated location, decor and food, we felt it was really worth it. The welcome at the door was friendly. When we were sat at our table, the attention given to us by our waiter was amazing; timely and not intrusive. He asked us if we'd been there before (which we hadn't) and then gave us a briefing in the restaurant and the menu. We went for the non-vegetarian menu and we're really impressed with all the dishes. As each course was presented to us, we were given an explanation of what was in the table. That helped as you tend to forget what is in a tasting menu! All the dishes tasted so good. This is Indian fusion, not Indian food (example - baby lamb chops with an Indian spice rub). I didn't think the food was very good - too heavily seasoned instead of being traditionally marinated. I have been going to Amaya for years for good reason. The food is excellent as is the service. While it's mainly Indian staples they do introduce some orthogonal dishes as part of their tasting menu. It is impressive that they have maintained this consistency over all these years. read more

First Impression... WoW this is a very nice, fancy place. I'm excited for my Indian meal in London! (My friend said Indian food in London is great so I looked up on on Yelp and landed upon this place.) Strike One: No photographs allowed in the restaurant. WTF. Seriously? I'm going to pay a bajillion pounds for the food and I can't take pics of the food? You've gotta be kidding me. Stuck up snobs. Strike Two: You can't order just one tasting menu. Apparently you have to have at least 2... which was a problem for us since 2 of us wanted the vegetarian tasting menu and one of us, who could eat meat, wanted the regular tasting menu. So... the one who could eat meat just order chicken curry... which was a lot less expensive than the tasting menu. Fail on the restaurant part... you could've made more money had you allowed the 1 portion tasting menu. Strike Three: I wanted to get the full experience so I order one of the more expensive drinks.. a 14 pounds ($22) drink. However the glass it came in made it super difficult to drink since the lip curves in. Um... hello? I want the liquid to go into my mouth, not back into the glass. Idiots. Oh... and just in case 3 strikes wasn't enough. They highly discourage you to order the curry. They say, "I'm sorry it's going to take 45 minutes to make." As if they are asking you, "Are you sure you want to order that? It's going to take forever to get to your table. Maybe you should order something else." Anyways... the good thing was that the chicken curry was good... and it did not take 45 mintues... and the bokchoy w/ the corn was good. 169 pounds ($253) later... totally NOT worth it. I do not recommend this restaurant and will not return. P.S. I sniped some photos even though I wasn't allowed to... and they are terrible because I had to snipe them but that's ok... it's their fault for not allowing people to take pretty photos to make their food look good. read more

Amaya has been around for a long time and competes against many excellent Indian restaurants in London but the service and food remain exceptional. The tasting menu continues to evolve keeping a mix of tandoori, rice and naan dishes with more modern appetizers, desserts and seafood dishes. The cocktails are refreshing and well matched to the menu. The price is pretty good considering it's a Michelin one star and the cost of the tasting menu without wine is very near what you would pay for high tea. The staff is very friendly and attentive. My husband and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary here tonight and we had a great time even though we almost missed our reservation. Google maps pulled up there corporate office address so that's where we reach 6:30 on the dot for our reservation. I was completely panicked when we realized. We called them and explained what happened (we don't live in England, we are from US), we let them know we are u wrong it over and will be 10 mins late, they were so understanding and told us no worries just head on over. Service: the service was great, we got seated by the open kitchen so we had wonderful entertainment and side conversations in relation to the view Food: All of our dishes were amazing, we ordered 6 and 2 desserts and we got 1 free dessert for our anniversary. Out of the 6 mains we loved 4 of them, which were the lettuce chicken parcels, corn mozzarella kebab, ginger chicken, and lamb chops. The black pepper chicken was juicy and moist but not our favorite but cooked AMAZINGLY PERFECT. Dessert: this was the WINNER! We had the chocolate Rasmalai, raspberry chocolate box, and Gulab jamun with ice cream. CHOCOLATE RASMALAI WAS THE BEST EVER! So unique and the presentation we were literally speechless, must get!!! We would go back just for this, so speechless we didn't even get a photo of it. We devoured it! The gulab jamuns were super soft and perfect not too sugary. The raspberry chocolate box was ok and our least favorite, nothing was comparable to the chocolate Rasmalai. read more

What an amazing dining experience! We arrived to find the front under construction but the restaurant was still open, we just had go under the scaffolding. Once you enter the restaurant you are in a dark modern atmosphere. We were immediately greeted as we were the first diners of the evening, we were directed to a table near the ovens. Normally that is not a desirable table but here the preparation observation is part of the experience. I had a signature martini that had just the right amount of Chili, it was very well balanced. The four of us ordered the Gourmet Menu, which lays out the menu for the evening. FYI the whole table must order the same tasting menu. A vegetarian tasting menu was available too. We had excellent service and a well timed menu with delicious dishes. My favorite dish were the oysters in an amazing yellow sauce. I can not recommend this place enough as it was amazing! read more

Ah Amaya! How can we pick you up and transport you intact with ambiance, flavors and full menu to San Francisco? This is a must visit Michelin star Indian restaurant in the Belgravia 'hood near the consulates in London. We went when the holiday light displays were out and there's just a magical feeling to all of London. We sat near the tandoor grills and got to see how the food magic was made as skewer after skewer of meats were lowered into the copper clay tandoors.. Our waiter was knowledgeable and polite and attentive, they had a cardamom pear fall cocktail which paired nicely with the depth of spices. The timing of the grill dishes was impeccable culminating in a chicken biryani at the end with a raita side to perfectly balance the heat. Highlight dishes of the night were the tandoori foie gras (what?!?!?) which is exactly as perfect as you'd want and hands down the venison kabob which is stuffed with masala sauce in the middle and was so perfectly spiced to pull out the full flavor of the venison meat. We could have eaten a dozen of the kabobs. The cauliflower was also very yummy as were the perfectly seared and succulent lamb chops. Truffle Naan was light and fluffy, We stayed for several hours and loved every minute. At the end of the night, our server asked if they could have done anything better. Last week I was with my friend visiting London for the first time so we decided to try the best restaurants in town. My friend being Indian and me not knowing anything about the culture or its food we decided to make reservations at this amazing restaurant. Hands down on of the best gastronomic experiences I've ever had. We wanted to try their prix fixe menu but unfortunately we made the reservation too late and the kitchen was no longer serving it (make sure to book reservations before 10:30pm if you want the prix fixe menu), so we went ahead and follow the waiter's suggestions! At first I was a little hesitant knowing that Indians tend to put a lot of species on their dishes but once the first dish arrived the explosion of flavors blew my mind. Every single dish had its own special magic and colors. As I mentioned before it was one of the best gastronomic experiences I've ever had.
