I work at a school and this company provides our tech support! And I have to say, as someone who has worked in Tech and knows how Tech support is supposed to be done, these people are fantastic! I call in about my issue and get a ticket right away. They contact me and they are able to help me within an hours of initial contact! In my previous job, the Tech Support team was next-door and it often took them days to respond to any request. Sometimes I find them walking around working on something else and would go to them and say hey did you see my request and they would tell me to send it to someone else or do something else. So when I found out that there was an offsite group of people who are handling our Tech Support I was very concerned. I am no longer concerned! I would recommend them in their services to anyone who needs them! They have really good value for what they offer and I love the fact that they are local and co-op. At one point we were missing something and I came and met with someone who went to a store to buy a part to help us. I know for a fact that in my old school that never would've happened. And did I mention that the Tech Support department was next-door so I was amazed at how many times they needed equipment and then they had to go out and get it somewhere or order apart from San Jose, that was stuck in traffic for hours? It happened much more than it should have. They helped me to load programs onto my computer, they helped me set up printers so that I can print directly to them, they helped me when I was working at different locations to figure things out. And the Tech Support folks are so nice on the phone and in person. Alternative Technologies came highly recommended by our IT support company as our office needed someone to install a couple of cables from our suite to the building's very strange telecom basement for fiber internet. Years ago, we had an internal staff member do the run to save money. This time, boy am I glad we got professionals to help us out because I have no idea how we did it. The clerical and scheduling staff were courteous and fast to respond. We were provided a complimentary site survey to see if they could do the work for us and then provided a reasonable quote. The cabling had to run through a neighboring suite whose tenants are not often around, and Alternative Technologies was also incredibly flexible when I requested a last minute installation on a specific day when I knew the tenants would be able to provide access to their space. The telecom basement is not to be trifled with; the building itself is very old and it has a ton of wiring that is out of date and unused. There are creepy crawlspaces all the modern cabling needs to run through to get to the suites but it's not apparent which ones go where. Other vendors have taken one look and said they couldn't help us without even trying, which is why we did the installation ourselves before. Alternative Technologies was confident they could do their job and even said they've seen more complicated situations before. This company rocks! From the customer service to the tech guys to the sales team, all super friendly, very knowledgeable and quick to get things done! They did all the internet wiring/cabling and installed all of the ethernet ports in the 9,000sq ft coworking space I opened in June 2013 (NextSpace Berkeley). This is a two floor facility with around 100 ports, so it was quite the work load. They got everything done exactly on time. It was the easiest thing for me to manage throughout the entire construction process. They knew exactly what to do. It was so seamless that I barely had to check in on them. There were a few delays on our end so they couldn't complete a couple parts of the project until later in the process, but as soon as we sorted things out on our end they were in our space right away completing their end of the project. I was super impressed with their flexibility and responsiveness. Also, any time I call their office someone always picks up the phone, is super friendly, and gets a tech to call me or show up at my door right away. Anytime I email them, they respond within the hour. I couldn't be happier with the level of support and skill they have given my company. We are projected to open more spaces and plan to keep using Alternative Techs as much as possible. read more

Our nonprofit does health work in Africa. Because our staff is not very technical, we need an IT support company. So far, we've worked with 2 other companies and they both started off fine.
