    Brussels sprouts appetizer

I went for dinner here with friends prior to a show at the ASU gammage. The restaurant had a good vibe with a nice and open restaurant area. They also had a great patio that ran along the street. They had an offer with free valet parking if you are attending a show at the Gammage and eat at the restaurant. It was a great deal and nice walk to the theater. Our server, Josh, was friendly, helpful with recommendations and attentive. We shared a side of the Brussel sprouts. They were delicious. I had the vegeyable potstiickers and sticky rice for ny entree. Both were very flavorfulwith good spice.ls. the dipping sauce with the potstickers was very good and not too spicy. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I would definitely dine here again.

I've stayed at Canopy by Hilton twice now and both times I booked through Amex and had a $100 food & beverage credit, so I got to try a lot of food at Alter Ego. For a hotel restaurant, it's pretty great. The menu has a lot of options and everything is pretty tasty. As a regular restaurant I'm not quite sure I would go if I lived in the area, but I also wouldn't rule it out. Both trips I had the Fork & Knife Breakfast Burrito and it was absolutely incredible. You can EASILY feed two people with this, and I'm sad to say I almost finished the whole thing this morning. Fast forward 10 hours and I wasn't even that hungry for dinner, but I had the miso salmon which the bartender recommended and was great. The menu was slightly different from a year and a half ago so it's nice to see they don't just let the menu sit for frequent visitors of the hotel. Service has always been excellent from both bars/restaurants in the hotel.

Love this venue. Very good food and best of all they have Butter Cake! Events happening all month long. Some amazing staff. Don't forget to check out the Paint Nite events they have monthly.

Not the best hotel restaurant I've been too, although I appreciate the experimental nature of it. Came here on my checkout day for a quick lunch - the server looked a little done with it all, lol? Food was ok - the crispy pork belly was over fried and too much flavor, and "sticky rice" is just Asian rice.... Maybe it's just the area The latte was good though, but that was about it. Prices felt a little expensive for the taste but it is what it is at a hotel I guess.

Stopped by for dinner on a Tuesday night at 5:45pm. Restaurant was relatively empty with a few tables of people and a few individuals at the bar. Ordered the prosciutto flatbread, miso salmon, a side of brussel sprouts and a side of extra noodles. Server was knowledgable and helpful with recommendations. The prosciutto flatbread was good but was heavy on the balsamic, which was less sweet and more so tart. The salmon dish was also good, but the salmon could have used more sauce. They were willing to accommodate my request for the spice to be removed from the noodle dish, which was awesome, but overall the noodles were relatively bland, so I assume the spice would have helped mask the bland flavor. The brussel sprouts were good and came with bacon and cheese. Overall, the ambience was great, the restaurant was clean, our server was great, and the food was decent.

Cool restaurant near ASU. Service is friendly and chill. I only had a Diet Coke and the portion was generous for about $5.

The wings weren't spicy but had such good flavor. The orange chicken was nice and spicy, loved the flavor and big portion. Drinks were delicious, melon mule with mezcal was a must. The service lag a little but busy with one server who was attentive enough to grab things when we needed. Cute patio to savor the sunshine in Tempe.

Yesterday, I had the Togarashi Tofu and it was very well prepared. The tofu was Avery good flavor and very tender. The surrounding veggies and rice made it a really good lunch. The server - Armando was very helpful and professional. Today, I had the Shaved Brussels Sprouts salad with tofu . It was crunchy, sweet, tangy, and downright delicious! The server, Armando was polite, personal and attentive. Well done.

Decided to come for brunch myself on a Sunday. I was so happy I did because there was a live music and a small farmers market in the hotel. I ended up grabbing some gifts to go and even got a free tasting of tequila. I would definitely suggest putting some more veggies with the Benedict maybe tomato or avocado could complement it better. Overall, I had a really lovely brunch with great service.

My friend and I stopped in here on a Friday evening for drinks, and there was lots of seating available. We ordered our drinks at the bar, and then sat outside to enjoy the cool weather. The bar tender that helped us was very polite and made our drinks quickly. I don't remember the name of what I ordered, but it had mezcal and tequila in it, and it was absolutely amazing! The smokiness of the mezcal hit right at the end and lingered for just the right amount of time. Highly recommend this spot for drinks. I've heard they also do an awesome brunch, so I'll be back for that soon.

Alter Ego hosted a paint night but I had plans to check out the bar food as I had been missing special events they were having here over the past few months. Surprised it wasn't as busy on a Friday night, but it was near the holidays so people were sheltered with family. Bartender and host for the night was great. He spent time remembering my name and our drink orders which says a lot about the business... I kept it light on the eats, & went with the Ginger Meatballs, Street Fries and of course, a few drinks from the bar. Ginger Meatballs were impressive and had a lot of flavor... so good that I doubled down and got another round (kinda like my drinks). Drinks from the bar didn't disappoint and on par price wise when it comes to "craft cocktails". Looking forward to my next return trip for dinner!

Bloody Mary and iced chai latte

Our breakfast experience was fabulous. I had a great Bloody Mary and iced chai latte. The French toast was delicious and the açaí bowl was healthy as well as tasty. The vibe was really nice-plants & flowers everywhere as well as great mood lighting. Our server, Jamie, was kind and attentive. Bar looks great with comfortable seating not too close together. Would 100% recommend.

I have never been in a cocktail lounge in my life and had to beg for drinks. Our server would wait until every drinks was made for all of her tables before bringing out drinks. It was ridiculous. She was nice but seemed high. I ended up only having 2 drinks. We would have ordered more but they have 90min max seating and we didn't event get drinks for the first 30min. No exaggeration. Also one of my drinks I had to send back. My apple martini tasted like soap. It was like they did clean the glass after giving a soap bath. No bueno. So they need to get their service to match the vibe of a true cocktails lounge. Yes it is a 70s vibe but doesn't mean the lackadaisical style service. I would come back and try again. The music, the atmosphere and the food was good. They gotta get these cocktails together and service. We ended up walking to nearby competitors and that was money lost for DDG.

Loved this place!…read more First, we had to change our reservation, and the host could not have been nicer. On a busy Saturday night, he graciously allowed us to push it back by an hour, which we really appreciated. When we arrived, we were immediately impressed. The jungle theme, leopard prints, intimate booths, and dramatic overhead lighting created a fun, unique atmosphere. The service was excellent, the cocktails were delicious, and every dish we ordered was a hit. My son said it may have been the best steak tartare he's ever had (although neither of us was a fan of the plantain chips). It was certainly the best tartare I've had in a very long time, with generous chunks of high-quality steak instead of being overly minced. The baked brie dip was outstanding, the grilled oysters were excellent, and my New York strip was cooked perfectly. My only small criticism is that the oyster appetizer came with just three oysters. For a $19 appetizer, I'd love to see at least four. An even number also makes sharing much easier, although my son generously let me have the extra one! Overall, this is a fantastic concept with great food, great service, and a memorable atmosphere. We can't wait to come back.

We called about half hour before and made a reservation by phone. I was disappointed that my first order choice of the Seabass was unavailable and my second choice of lamb chops was also unavailable. Not sure if this is because it was a Sunday night and/or we made the reservation immediately before showing up. They were also out of the Melted Cast-Iron Brie Small Plate that we were excited about ordering for the table. We loved this restaurant because of the dark and jungle-themed interior. We were excited to see the bold taxidermy featuring the large cats combined with the ornate, gold- framed dapper animal art hanging on the walls. Another reason to love this spot: hidden inside is an entrance to a secret cocktail lounge, or speakeasy, called "Drop Dead Gorgeous." We also appreciated the entire restaurant centering around a glowing, raw wood-fire cooking pit. We could hear and watch our entrées being prepared. What we didn't love so much: the items that we would've liked to have ordered were unavailable. The price to portion ratio in the small bites could also be improved a bit. Great service from our waitress throughout the evening. We ordered: - Fire Roasted Bone Marrow for the table (3/5) - sourdough toast, jalapeño marmalade with demi. I was so excited to try bone marrow for the first time. It was interesting. Sort of like a mix between butter and fat from a steak. It tasted really good with the spicy jalapeño jelly and bread provided. I expected us to be warm and it came out cold. Still not sure if I like it or not. Maybe I'll give it a second try - White Oak Grilled Chicken Skewers (4/5) - served with shiso leaves, kimchi, shishito peppers. kosho aioli, lemon aioli, ssamjung for the table - Very yummy. We enjoyed these. We had actually changed our mind right after initially putting in the milk bread order for the table and they brought out the milk bread so quickly that our waitress said she would give this to us on the house. - Milk Bread for the table (4/5) - miso tomato butter, almond & Kalamata. Even though we changed our mind and got this sent to our table accidentally, I would order this again. It was very delicious and it comes out as an adorable little tomato shaped and colored milk bread with the toppings looking like the stem on top. So tasty and everybody loved it. A little small for our party of five. - Lemongrass Half Chicken (5/5) - Caramelized carrots, kyoto roasted garlic, mashed potatoes & jalapeno jam. Hubs loved this. He said everything was delicious and went well together. - Bomba Rice x2 (5/5) - Risotto, shrimp, linguica, chicken, piquillo peppers, green peas, kosher aioli & Parmesan. My son and his girlfriend both ordered this and said it was very good. - Shishito Caesar Salad add Chicken Skewers (5/5) - bonito, charred shishito peppers, ricotta salata, tapioca chicharron & togarashi. My daughter ordered this and said it was very good. - Spicy Peanut & Tomato Salad add Chicken Skewers (5/5) - peanut dressing, heirloom tomato, baby gem, daikon radish, onion, mala chile, whipped queso de cabra & sour nut. YUMMMM What a creative and unique salad! So glad I tried it. It has unique flavors that work well with each other and a crunch. There's also some heat that goes along with the salad. I was able to withstand it. My son would probably say it's not spicy at all. I'll be craving this salad for months to come. - Dad or Daddy Specialty Cocktail - bright, buzzed & stoned vodka, apricot liqueur, Riesling cordial, ginger, lime, topped with Red Bull Peach Edition (White Peach) - Fruity Mocktail - I asked the waitress if they had any mocktails and she asked me what I liked and gave me examples. Based on what I told her she brought me out a delicious fruity mocktail topped with fresh mint. Parking along the street at metered parking or in parking garage nearby. A few streets away from Tempe Town Lake.

If you're looking for free parking, you're going to have a long walk. Outside of that, you'll have to pay for parking in a garage or metered street parking. Ambiance (4/5): Hint hint. Idle Hands is located inside Devil's Hideaway. A true speakeasy shouldn't have signage outside indicating its location. Unfortunately, there's a sign for Idle Hands outside of Devil's Hideaway which takes away the sense of mystery and intrigue that a true speakeasy provides. Outside of this hiccup, it's a cool speakeasy. It's intimate, with 10 or so seats at the bar and about 10 seats in booths facing the bar. There's a projector screen behind the bar that had mystical motion graphics the first time I stopped by (thinking wizards) and Halloween motion graphics the second time (with it being a day before the holiday). There were some other Halloween decorations up. The only area of improvement? The music often doesn't match the vibe. A lot of the music they were playing on my last visit was Irish music that would be fitting for a pub. Service (4/5): I had the same bartender each time. He knows how to make a good drink and is pretty efficient. When you close out, he only gives you the merchant copy. Which is a pet peeve of mine. Let me get that customer copy too. But overall, a good experience. Especially at a college bar. Food (N/A): I've only had drinks both times. Idle Hands actually doesn't have food, but Devil's Hideaway does. And you're allowed to bring food from there into the speakeasy. Drinks (4.5/5): It's pretty surprising to see a speakeasy on a college campus. I was impressed with the creativity of the menu, both in terms of the ingredients used and the fusion of flavors. I've had a different cocktail each time, and they've all been great. My favorite was one served in a box filled with smoke. Talk about a cool presentation! The hallmarks of a solid speakeasy are elevated cocktails, nice ambiance (dimly lit), an intimate space, and mystery/intrigue. While the intrigue is lacking at Idle Hands, and the music can be improved, they hit it out of the park in the other areas. One of my favorite speakeasies I've been to in Phoenix (and surrounding areas). I am, after all, the self-appointed king of speakeasies. The king gives his stamp of approval.

Everyone was friendly, professional, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling overbearing. The service honestly matched the upscale atmosphere perfectly and made the whole experience feel even more polished. And OMG... the food. SO SO SO SO SO GOOD. Like genuinely one of those meals where every single bite makes you pause for a second because it tastes that incredible. I got the chicken orzo along with the lime icebox cake for dessert, and both were absolutely amazingggg. The chicken orzo was phenomenal. The lemon flavor throughout the orzo was bright, fresh, and flavorful without being overpowering, and the tomatoes were the PERFECT addition because they balanced everything so well and added a little sweetness and freshness to the dish. But the chicken... wow. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while still being super juicy and tender inside, which is honestly hard to do. Every component of the dish worked together perfectly. Magnificent is genuinely the best word for it. And the lime icebox cake was the perfect ending to the meal, refreshing, creamy, flavorful, and not too heavy after dinner. Honestly, I'm sitting here craving the food again just looking back at the pictures I took. This is definitely one of those restaurants that sticks in your mind long after you leave.

The restaurant itself is very cute and clearly designed for photos, which matches what I saw on their Instagram. Service overall was fantastic. The food, however, was just okay. I ordered the burrata and fig plate and was told they'd replace the bread with apple slices. I received five very small slices of apple, and when the plate was set down the waitress said she'd get more if needed. I later noticed I was charged $2 for an additional five slices, which together didn't even amount to half an apple. Ironically, the bread that comes with the dish would have been far more substantial. The burrata was fine, but nothing memorable. My friend ordered the chicken and brussels sprouts and didn't even finish it before having the plate taken away. The flourless almond cake was the star, a bit salty on its own, but with the ice cream and whipped cream it was a delightful combo which were the highlight. Overall, this is a great spot for cocktails, ambiance, and photos, but the food is fairly mediocre compared to the setting.

If your kitchen can't handle a simple order in a reasonable amount of time, don't accept DoorDash orders in the first place. What's even more frustrating is the complete lack of respect for customers' time. There was no urgency, no accountability, and no reason a two-item order should take longer than two hours. Accepting orders you clearly can't fulfill is misleading and incredibly unprofessional. I won't be ordering from Social Hall again, and I wouldn't recommend anyone else waste their time either. Do better.
