I'll start by saying that I took away a star because I think the ambiance/decor at Altea's could be better. I feel like it has a sort of Parisian theme but it falls short. I would like to see more of the white walls filled and some nice green plants. The food gets 5 stars though. I've been here 3 times already and it's one of my favorite brunch places in Worcester. Everything's good and you can't go wrong with anything you order because it will all taste so good. I'd recommend the waffles with the banana foster...so decadent! I waited about an hour for two onion soups, one without cheese. My soup being the one without cheese tasted old and as if it had lost a significant amount of flavor. It tasted like this soup would've popped with flavor if it were served fresh, and if it was, then the recipe needs work. It was not very good soup, put plainly. This is honestly the best breakfast place that I have been to in the Worcester area. It is a small, modern looking breakfast place that is sure to excite. Our table of 5 was seated in less than 10 minutes, and the service was phenomenal. Everyone who came to breakfast was blown away by the food! Had brunch here for a second time. Ordered the smoked salmon omelet and it was fantastic! Omelet was cooked well and paired great with the potatoes and french baguette. My friend ordered eggs and apple crepes and they were delicious as well. We both ordered coffees with Jameson... And they were perfect. I also wanted to try the spicy blood mary which was one of the better ones ive had in worcester. My friend stated her mimosa was great too. Simple modern decor and a clean table made the dining experience pleasant as well. Our waiter was helpful but not overbearing. He stopped by when needed but I didnt feel the need to look for him. Owners Menton and Oriola have created a wonderful Park Ave. bistro in Altea. Although the very industrial décor differs greatly from that of its sister restaurant, Livia's Dish, the husband and wife team once again comes through with outstanding food and genuine hospitality (Oriola makes sure to visit with each and every customer. Now this is someone who is, most definitely, in the right business). Our sweet waiter, Ken, was none too shabby either. He even allowed me to snap a pic of him. Sis stuck to breakfast fare and pronounced her short rib-stuffed omelet, rife with tender meat and an abundance of white Cheddar, the best she's ever had. I can't say enough about my burger, which had absolutely perfect flavor combinations: The patty, served between a buttery bun which seemed to me like a cross between a croissant and a brioche roll, was cooked to my specified doneness (medium-rare) and topped with the most delicious onion jam, Boursin cheese, ripe tomato slices and baby greens. This burger was one of the best I've ever eaten. And the fries (skin-on, shoestring style)... Let me just say that you will eat the entire pile. Overall rating: 3.5 (rounded up to 4 for positive experience) I love the minimalist seating and decor -- it keeps the place looking very clean, bright, and inviting. I had the special, the shrimp frittata, with a light arugula salad on top. I thought it was good, but not mind blowing. The toasted, buttered bread was also a nice compliment to the dish! The eggs benedict was okay. I think I was hoping for a little bit more. The hollandise sauce was very yolky compared to some other one's I've had, and the ham was a pretty thin slice. Stopped for some breakfast during a road trip to New York. I was hesitant to come here and the homefries did not look appetizing. We were greeted and immediately seated. Went to Altea for brunch when visiting our daughter at Cummings Vet School. We got there at 10:00 am. It was busy but not full. We were seated immediately. Our waitress was nice and attentive. They had good coffee. I was able to get an Americano even though it was not on the menu. I had the Veggie omelette which was delicious. There was a generous amount of vegetables and the omelette was cooked just right, was fluffy, folded and filled with goat cheese. My husband had the frittata and liked the flavor of it. Our daughter had the crêpes with Nutella which looked amazing. Our waitress kept checking on us, making sure all was well. I knew I was going to be in Worcester for the day so naturally I wanted to try some of the best food spots. My friend recommended we try out Altea's for brunch and after looking at the Yelp page (as I always do) I was really looking forward to trying it. We went on a Saturday morning and while it was busy we only waited about 15 minutes to be seated. The first thing I noticed was there was so much variety on the menu without it being too overwhelming. We ordered the bucket of bubbles for our drink which includes a bottle of Prosecco and your choice of 3 juices. I had the breakfast poutine and my friend ordered steak and eggs. The meals didn't take long at all even though the restaurant was fully packed. I really enjoyed my poutine; just enough sauce and the kielbasa added that extra flavor I was looking for. There was no sear on the meat, it was coated with seasoning and herbs which gave it an almost unpleasant texture. In Worcester, there are a few hidden gems, but this one is the biggest. Altea's features chic French decor along with spacious seating arrangements that are wonderful for dates. And that doesn't even include the food, which is delightful and so reasonably priced. This is my second time here, and my first review of Altea's. It is truly worthy of multiple visits. We ordered the savory crepe, which is much like a breakfast omelette, but with crepe instead of eggs. It's salty, the chipotle aioli is spicy and rich, and the balance of crepe to ham is perfect. It's great for those who want to try a non-dessert style crepe. One of my go-to dishes here. My favorite dish is the waffle, which includes banana foster and whipped cream. The waffle is crispy when first served and the syrup saturates it with sweetness that is balanced by the tartness of the bananas. Of course, whipped cream is a must. Nothing was bad but it wasn't as good as expected for the price point. The menu is very creative given the location so they have the competition beat in that regard. We aren't fans of sweets so we opted for the savory options which were good but not satisfying. Something was definitely missing, maybe salt, maybe acidity, not sure exactly what but it falls into the trap I'm noticing a lot of the trendy restaurants in Worcester fall into where atmosphere is paramount. I'm sure if you have a sweet tooth the waffles/crepes/etc. would be much more impressive. I can imagine this is a great place for drinking and would amazing for the brunch atmosphere. The largest issue I had, which accounts for the star rating is that the place did not seem well socially distanced. Masks were implemented well of course but the tables were very close together at a comparatively high density compared to other places.
