These guys were great..... i was in and out in about an hour and a half with a rear brake pad and rotor replacement. Staff was nice and attentive. Parts showed up quick and pricing was good. I would've gave 5 stars but i still believe that my rotors could've been resurfaced rather than replaced. They said the rotors were too thin but once i saw the new ones, there wasn't much difference. I've come here twice now -- once to replace a battery and a 2nd time this week for an oil change. It was during all the rain (4 solid days!) so I also asked for some *good* wiper blades and mentioned that I wasn't sure my tires were grabbing the road well enough in the rain. They sourced some top notch wiper blades for me and, even though they sell a lot of tires, they were honest and didn't sell me something I didn't need -- they told me I just needed to rotate them. Finally, I also needed smog check which they don't do -- but they included a smog assessment in my oil change and told me where to go nearby. I feel very comfortable bringing my car here. read more

Their tire shop is a joke. Price margins are ridiculous! Needed a used tire for my 90' honda, claimed they didn't my size and had to buy a new tire for $88. Even though their website advertised 4 used tires for $99. Definitely felt like I was taken advantage of. read more

My 1999 Toyota Camry V6 LE (made in Japan) had the dreaded P0446 error code. With my upcoming smog test, I was stressed about getting it fixed in a reasonable manner--I'd like to keep the car at least a few more years and maybe even hit 250,000 miles on it. Augustin tried a couple of lower-cost potential solutions (gas cap, solenoid/valve) before concluding that the charcoal canister assembly (#77740-06093) needed replacement. He charged a very reasonable amount for labor and test drove the car to ensure that the check engine light wouldn't come back on. It didn't and a few days later I took the car in for my smog test. I passed and am looking forward to hitting 250,000 miles someday. read more

Came here for a wheel alignment special for my 280zx. When I picked it up the car felt good and straight. Our mechanic at Al's tire who was very honest told us about other problems that we addressed to him previously, so he took a look and told us solutions and a reasonable quote. Anyways i would recommend take your Z here they were working on two when I got there( a classic z and z31 300zx). I know z owners are picky when it comes to mechanics in which I understand but I can trust this place knowing my car is in good hands :) read more

I was on my way to a coffee shop in Pasadena when I drove over a nail that had my tire making ugly, nasty noises :( I went to Al's because of their yelp reviews, and it was the best service I've gotten from an auto shop! I parked and it literally took FIVE MINUTES for everything to be taken care of. Arturo popped off my wheel, put a patch on, and that was that. Didn't try to upsell me or push anything I should buy there. The only downer was that it was supposed to be $15, but my lack of cash made it $20. Still, I saw firsthand the work he did on my car. Open Sunday! My tire blew out Saturday evening and I had an early meeting Monday, so had to get a new tire on Sunday. There were only 3 places open -- Pep Boys, Sears Auto and Al's Tire Shop. I called all three to find out the price of a tire and Al's was the lowest by a substantial amount. Chris the new owner, was nice and didn't try to sell me more tires that I didn't need. I used to bring my little Miata here for regular maintenance and I really liked the service and HONESTY of Rudy. Unfortunately there's new ownership and I will never set foot here again. $250.00 for basic maintenance on a 1990 Miata !?!?!?! Under Rudy's management they would pick up and deliver my car from the office (I'm 2 blocks away) and the most I paid was probably $60.00 and he always explained what was wrong with it if I needed other mechanical work. Great place with good quality service. I don't have a flat tire often, and have likely gotten ripped off in the past being unknowing in autos and mechanics. But the man who serviced me today was wonderful. He let me watch everything he was doing and efficiently did it all. He took off the tire, used a repair sealant and then replaced it. Took about 15min. And only cost $15. I didn't use the 10% discount w check-in since it was so cheap. We'll see how long my tire lasts, but for now i'm very satisfied and with my results and would go there again. read more

This is a great auto center! We were on a family vacation in our motorhome when all of a sudden on the freeway our power steering and power brakes went out. Serpentine belt and vacuum pump were toast. We google mapped the closest mechanic and found Al's auto center. We are sure happy we found them. I went here at 7:00 AM because they're the only ones around the area to open at 7:30 AM when I had a nail in my tire. There was a guy who was just coming to work and when he saw me, he immediately helped and worked on my tire. It costed me $15, but because I used a credit card, they charged an additional $5 (bummer!). There was a car shop nearby (I think America's?) and I've heard they charge free for removing nails from your tires, so I thought that was a good marketing strategy. Too bad they were still closed when I really needed it. That said, the people in Al's were friendly and fast, so I really couldn't complain except for the steep prices and additional charge. read more

Just came back from having the whip serviced. Got four brand new tires and new front brakes. The car drives like a dream now. They gave me a great deal. I still need to get an oil change and replace the rear brakes but I'll be back next week since I needed more time for that. They actually go by "California Auto Center," so don't let the faded out 45-year old marquee that says Al's Tire Center throw you off. The building is separated into sections. There's one for auto body repair, auto mechanic repair, and tires. They also open 7 days a week and they're open early, too. Give 'em a shot. read more
