Have my Mac-book fixed on time with good customer service. Recommend !!!

These guys are really great. I took my Dell Laptop( running Windows 7) to them to fix the following issue: user profile service stopped downloading which kept laptop from logging into Windows. The issue was probably caused by my stupidity in using registry cleaners. Warning: avoid this kind of software at all costs. The conflicting software mangled my registry. However, the problem was fixed while I waited( approx. 30 min. ) with alacrity and tremendous courtesy. Well worth the trip from Port Washington to Sunnyside on an LIE jam-packed with Saturday afternoon traffic. They are going to move to New Hyde Park... Thank goodness! Much shorter trip for Long Island residents where reputable computer repair is practically non- existent. In summary, these guys are the real deal... Honest, smart, no nonsense. I spent 50 bucks and the service was worth twice the cost. Highly recommend. read more

Please make sure they clarify what is wrong with the computer and what they are replacing/repairing. They advertise that they do a free diagnostic, but that doesn't mean much when they're charging over five times the amount. My cousin took her lenovo z470 laptop to the store after it wouldn't turn on. They told her that the DC adapter jack was faulty and that they would need $150 to fix it. Since she just wanted to get it fixed she was ok with the fee. But a quick google search will tell you that BRAND NEW DC board for the laptop is $30-$40. Also note that they never replaced it in the first place, they just fixed it. Even if they replaced it, it would have been a rip off. So make sure you ask specifically what is wrong with your computer, and do a quick google search to see how much it costs read more

These guys are great! Believe the reviews! They are professional, sincere, hardworking, honest, & know what they are doing. Their office is easily accessible from Manhattan - #7 train just off the 46th St subway stop. My son spilled water on our laptop keyboard & my husband tried to fix it, but the computer then didn't work correctly. I took advantage of their yelp free estimate. Han instilled such confidence as he clearly knew what he was talking about. For a reasonable rate, Alphaurax fixed the problem. For some reason though the keyboard didn't match the original so my typing was off. For weeks my Gateway all in one desktop would make a loud noise from the fan area but i never got it looked at. Well one day I turned it on and it just wouldn't come on. So i'm facing the fork in the road of do i get it fixed or do I just buy a new system. I went on yelp to find a place that I could go to who would give me an honest solution for my pc at a fair price. Well these guys were it based on Yelp reviews. So I brought it in to get it checked and it ended up being a busted fan initially but because i waited to get it looked at the motherboard also went..smdh...So i hesitantly asked what the damage would be to fix it and it wasn't bad at all. Before they did any work I was called and asked if it was ok to proceed. They are such young knowledgable people. They took the time to explain everything to me. What people are saying about excessive PRICING $$$$ IS TRUE!!! BEWARE!!! I wish my overall experience was better. Unforgettably I got the rotten apple in the bunch. My Surface pro 3 wouldn't power on. So I found these guys. All started well when I first stopped in. Charley was pleasant and seemed to know his stuff. I've always been pretty good with computers, but this time I was stuck. I took it to Alphaurax we're it was agreed $30 to diagnose the problem and If I used them for the fix that $30 would be waved. Long story short I was charged $107 for a 3rd party $30 charger and a very basic hard reset. Why was I charged $70 for a hard reset? I was told They needed to reset the computer and perform some updates. I agreed to it as they made it appear that what needed to be done was beyond a customers very basic understanding and ability. Yet any one could have done it!! I figured that out on my own after the fact. When I picked up my Surface pro I asked the Asian guy(I forget his name) that was servicing me "is there anything I can do myself if this problem happens again so I won't have to come back." Instead of telling me the very simple solution, he tells me if it happens again within 3 months bring it back no charge. It happened again within 2 weeks. When it happened the first time I tried to get it going to no avail. This time I decided to to try again using different methods than the first and BINGO! Hard reset with updates with the push of 3 very simple buttons and WOW this is what I was charged 70 bucks for that if it happens again bring it back to you guys because it's so easy my niece can do it!! SCREW YOU!! And because of this I felt Alphaurax was mis leading withheld information and did not disclose or provide transparency with their services. I got the rotten apple. read more

My screw was stripped while I was trying to repair my own computer and they not only spent 30 minutes trying different screw drivers to remove the screw, but when they finally got it removed, they told me it was no charge. Great and quick service provided. My hard drive was damaged and they replaced/upgraded it. They were also able to transfer all my files over to the new hard drive. My fan also was having issues and they fixed that too. My computer works great now! Price was also very reasonable! read more

I was incredibly impressed with the service and care I received from Alphaurax. I had attempted to replace the fan on my Macbook Pro by myself, and detached a few fragile wire connections from the logic board. I thought I had ruined the connections for good but this was a very easy fix for the experts at this place. They were very polite, and walked me through each step, and explained the simple fix, so I didn't have to go to any unnecessary trouble, should this happen again. They even called to update me on the repair process, and ensure how I wanted to proceed, and were transparent about costs throughout the process. I am totally disappointed by their service . They gave me back my MacBook which does not even turn on . Long story short , when I first bought the laptop , they never mentioned mother board problem . They charged me $220 and I paid them , never knowing what I am paying for . After few weeks I had some problem with the MacBook turning on . I don't use the MacBook quite often since I have another MacBook Air . When I went they told its mother board problem . And it's going to be $300 more and they are also not sure if the MacBook is going to be turned ON. So it's like pay $300 , if it turns ON good if not its your loss . Total rip off . I rely very little on ratings however i was happy i fully relied on all the rating for Alphaurax. I made a call, spoke to Han, went in right away, gave me the diagnosis and cost up front and it was ready the next day. Cheaper than what was quoted because he actually worked with what could be fixed instead of suggesting to get everything new.. Unlike most of the other posters here, I took in a Dell PC tower that just would not boot up. It took the guy 15 mins. and it was fixed. Courteous service and very professional. These guys do great work, and I'm a PC user since 1984. Do not be deterred by the back of the hardware store, OMG this place is a mess appearance. They can fix almost anything, reasonably priced, and deliver as promised. First off, I rarely write reviews, but this is the least I can do to show my support for these guys. My macbook air wouldn't power on one day and coincidently I had 2 weeks left on apple care so I took it in to the genius bar and they diagnosed my computer as damaged due to liquid. He told me that one of the white liquid sensors was red and that meant my warranty was null. It would cost me $750 for apple to repair it. That is strange I told him because I didn't spill anything on it. The dude callously suggested it was probably my roommate--ok, whatever, you win, I thought. I almost gave up on it, because the machine is 3 years old-maybe its just time to get new one, but I gave it a last chance by going to these guys solely based on their reviews. I found the location in the back of a hardware store to actually be quite charming and the two guys working incredibly sweet. He took apart my computer in front of me and examined each part and concluded that there was in fact NO LIQUID DAMAGE. He suggested that I take it back to the apple store and ask them to present the liquid damage. I took his advice and sure enough, NO LIQUID DAMAGE-now apple is fixing my computer for free. It was a straight up lie. I was charged nothing by Alphaurax-but I'm going to go back just to leave a big tip. That honesty--in NY???What!!!!! Went in for a repair today. The very first thing I noticed was that the storefront was actually a hardware store and no display of the repair service. The address was correct so I carried my desktop tower into the back of the store where I can see it. At the back of the store was a little section for the computer shop and there he was, a young south east asian guy whom was very friendly. I used the yelp discount for free diagnostic and within 10 minutes we found the problem. He was very courteous and didn't charge me a thing or try to nickel and dime me. Finally, I found a trustworthy and highly skilled computer repair company. Honesty and concern for the customer is so refreshing! In the past, I always went to Tekserve, and I now realize that they were putting sub-standard parts into my computer, causing it to fail much sooner, hence causing me to pay them more money. When I brought my Mac into Alphaurax, they not only replaced the motherboard for less money than Tekserve, but they pointed out that the previous motherboard was missing a vital component which prevents the cpu from getting too hot. In short, Tekserve purposely left out a vital component, knowing that it would fail in about 1 year. That is very sleazy, and should be illegal. Alphaurax fixed it AND kindly installed software which monitors the cpu temperature, in addition to installing the correct component which will keep it cool, so it will last for many years. I will be going to Alphaurax for all of my computer repair needs, and you should too. read more

Really honest guys! My son threw a ball and knocked my whole large cup of coffee onto my MacBook Pro - milk and a ton of sugar included. Brought it in knowing I needed at least a new keyboard and trackpad. Turned out the trackpad was salvageable but the motherboard had damage. They fixed it instead of saying it needed to be fully replaced - which never happens for me at least! Turns out the cd/DVD mechanism was also bad - they are replacing that for free at my own convince because they don't want me to work with a computer that isn't fully functional. That's caring about your customers! All in all it was a pretty penny but BEYOND reasonable for the amount of work they did. read more

These guys are the most helpful computer repair guys I ever dealt with. I spilled beer on my 6 month old macbook air. The motherboard was fried an I thought i would have to dish out 700 bucks for a new one. What they did was clean my entire computer of liquid damage residue for 129. I broke my iPhone 4 screen and bought a new screen online. I attempted to fix myself, but failed miserably. In a panic, I went online to find someplace nearby that could fix the screen. Brought my 27" iMac in because it was freezing nonstop randomly even after 2 fresh OS installs. I thought it could be a hardware issue causing my machine to fail, but they identified the problem was just a corrupt internal HD. They suggested I upgrade to an SSD, which costed more, but figured might as well, if I was going to pay for the repair and extend the life of the machine. One day to diagnosis, about a week to order the part and repair, fair price & great service as usual. read more

I have nothing but high appreciation for these guys. My computer was so overloaded with viruses and a bad mouse that acted up on its own , I couldn't use it for months. After the initial diagnosis they saved my important files, photos , reinstalled Windows, got rid of viruses, installed a new protection (free) and gave me back a brand new working laptop. At first I saw the reviews and trusted them, I sent in my PC to receive the information from my previous PC transferred and was told Office will be installed. However once I went home the information was transferred but not the program. I visited the store regarding this issue and let me say the associates are only friendly at first but not when there was a problem. They refused to refund my money and asked me they would give me $10 back take it or leave it. The staff is young and perhaps they are great at what they do but they do not have customer service experience. Idk if I would return here and if I do I will ask them to check their work before I leave. Great prices but I doubt this business will last so please proceed with caution. read more

Found these guys through Yelp. A bunch of reviews that were spot on accurate. Definitely a good vibe here. A funky place, but that just adds to the charm. The folks there were very savvy and honest, and that's not easy to find in NYC. Turns out we needed a new machine after all, but they told us what happened, talked with us about how the big box store had sold us a new computer with replacement parts, and charged us next to nothing to recover our files as compared with competitors.
