Michael assured me that such a scenario was do-able 90% of the time. I loved the fact that his technician would come to my apartment to do the job, while respecting my privacy. The technician showed up at the appointed time and set to work, explaining what he was doing as he went along, even showing me some good tips. High prices and illegal marketing tactics! $140 PER HOUR(house calls, then $125 hr The highest rates in nyc, that any shop i called quote me on the phone ILLEGAL MARKETING TACTICS: "WE FIX IT OR ITS FREE" (Its aginst NYC Dept of consumer affairs laws and regulations and use this advertising tactic) THEY CHARGE !140 FOR THE FIRST HOUR THEN $125 PER HOUR THE MOST EXPENSIVE COMPUTER SHOP IN NEW YORK CITY!!! IN THEIR SHOP $99 PER HOUR! I asked if they did not fix my laptop at the end of the $140 hour would they charge me? Their answer: "well you have to let us fix it or we charge you!" I asked what if the mother board is bad and cost $400 or $500 to replace and I do not want to spend that much on an old machine, will you charge me for the $140 hour? His answer: Yes, otherwise bring it to queens and well charge you $55 to give you an estimate? So much for the fix or free! $55 just for an estimate In my opinion "if we cannot fix your computer its free" is just a scam Because they can always fix it even it cost you $10,000 dollars at their rates. MIchael's PC Express provides fast, honest, reliable service. I called when my computer got jammed with malware. I had extensive on-line research to do for my job and needed to get the problem fixed immediately. I first tried The Geek Squad but was told I'd have a 10-day wait for an in-house call. 10 days! Michael's sent out a technician who was at my house in 1 day's time; Nissan (the technician) showed up on time and fixed the problem in less than 1 hour. To finish off his work, Nissan installed a malware removal software program at no extra cost. Now, I can corral and delete malware bugs before they disable my computer again. A case like mine could be an easy mark--delete the malware; wait for it to crop up again; score another $125 house call. Not Michael's. Solving the problem and providing the tool I need to prevent it from happening again--providing competent and fair services for reasonable prices--are how this firm does business. Very impressed with the service. Quick response from an employee (10 minutes after calling) who really knew what he was talking about and quickly guided me through various processes, including a virus scan/removal procedure and when that failed, helping me wipe my harddrive clean and reinstall my operating system and various drivers. All this through the Internet directly to the computer in my home office. It would have taken one of those computer experts at a big box stores at least a couple of days to find what was wrong and to fix it, and I would have lost the use of my machine for that time (I don't think they do 'loaners' like some garages do when you drop off your car to get it fixed), not to mention the hassle of schlepping the thing all the way there and back. Ideal for a freelancer who doesn't have a dedicated IT department and knows something about computers, but not enough to adequately deal with a virus attack. These guys are the best. They set up appointments to focus on you when you visit them and give great repairs in short time, though it can be bit pricey. It is, however, well worth the wait when you are a freelancer and need to get back to work soon. My laptop had a broken hard drive and I was smart enough to back up my data. But marketing my business online everyday was important to get clients and do projects. Otherwise, no money (: . They rapidly fixed my laptop in three days where other shops would have taken at least a week or more. Not an ideal situation for me to go through. I was more surprised at their rapid quality fixing than how they fix it. So, if I need a quick help, these people are my main go to for repairs. My desktop computer, which I use primarily for my solo law practice, broke down last week. I called around to a few places and the third place I called was PC Mac Express, at which point it was almost 7 PM. Michael did some free phone consultation and trouble shooting and figured someone would have to go in person to take a look at my computer. We made an appointment for 5 PM the following the day; the technician arrived right on time, came in, and started to go through everything. Within an hour and a half he had figured out it was a connection problem with my second monitor, and there was such a sigh of relief. I had an email issue over a couple days and not being particularly tech-savvy, was concerned there might be something serious about to occur. I called PCMac Express about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, spoke to Michael and fully expected to have to take my computer over to their offices at some undetermined date in the future. Instead, Richard (one of his technicians) appeared at my door in about forty five minutes and fixed the problem in about thirty. I'm never going to anyone else again! I am a complete computer illiterate AND when I have had problems in the past I've been very frustrated by the unsympathetic and expensive 'solution' companies. My hard drive was corrupted when a power outage occurred in my area. I found this company online, the reviews wre great and I took a leap of faith. I have a great experience! I have to give Michael's PC and Mac Express five stars, and I will explain: I had been trying to solve a netbook problem that involved updating the operating system and some other problem that was difficult to diagnose - and it was quite urgent that I solve this since it had taken so long! Most other stores wanted to just re-install the OS but Michael not only did that but because of his great experience and skills was able to rapidly find the problem (which turned out to be physical) and repair it himself. He did this at a very reasonable rate, a job that other stores would probably not even ventured to do! I had used PC Mac Express previously for a home computer that was giving me problems and over the phone they found the problem in no time flat. Because the "fix" was found so easily I was not charged for the support they gave me. Recently I need some support for my office computer and Michael dispatched a technician at the exact time I told him I would be available and again the problem was identified and resolved. This time they charged me--as they should! I strongly urge you to call on this family-owned company if you need tech support--they're fast, they know what they're doing and they're honest. I needed help getting wireless and moving data from a PC to a Mac, and one of my laptops had a virus. The infected computer has a Japanese OS, which is harder to deal with unless you read the language. I'd expected to pay at least $300 for everything, based on my experience with similar services (that Japanese OS is not easy to work with). Michael told me which wireless router to buy before the technician got there, to save me time and money. The technician was smart, helpful, and very respectful (even though I know exactly nothing about how to use my own computers). I spilled hiccup of water on my computer and my husband located this service close to the walking distance 10 - 15mins away. I called and left a message. Within 10mins I received a returning phone call and explained my issue.
