He has changed my fan when I needed it (after the people at Best But misdiagnosed my fan problem several times), changed my hard drive, and has recently replaced my battery. MRK got the job done and quick for me. They deserve 5 stars for sure. They are a small minority owned electronics repair shop. They were great and explaining what the issues were with my macbook and what to expect after it was fixed. Their standard minimum repair charge is $100. So expect to pay at least that much. I got a new hard drive installed and my broken cd-rom (who uses those things anyway) taken out. They finished the job same day. My computer functioned and looked just the way I had left it just 3-4x faster than before. Really happy with their work. I also go there to pick up my ups packages. They are a certified ups pick up location so when I am not home that's usually what ill do. read more

So after my ceiling caved in and there was a major wreck site over and on top of my work station, I was in dire need of computer repair services. You see, the ceiling fell through and the stucco came crashing down on my laptop and desktop, leaving both units covered in debris. Imagine the look on my face when I came home to find my humble abode looking like a post-earthquake disaster area. Luckily, my Samsung laptop survived but with a heaping amount of debris all under the keyboard. I could barely type on my keyboard but I found MRK Computer Services and called immediately. Marc was extremely nice and professional. It was pouring out that day, but he agreed to stop by my place to clean out my laptop. WIthin half hour or so, Marc was here to the rescue. He wasn't able to clean the laptop right on the spot (he was initially planning to do so), and so he lugged away my laptop and my desktop for repair. He said it would take about 2 hours and he would have everything ready. Sure enough, two hours pass, and I get a call Marc. This time, I venture over to his office. He was already outside waiting when I got there and helped me load up my desktop and my laptop into the car. My laptop is now clean and the keyboard is functionally good. He also changed the fan on my desktop and that unit is also up and running smoothly also. He charged me $100 to fix both and I have no complaints here. Marc is courteous, polite and personable. I will definitely use his services again when one of my computers break down again. I am grateful he came to my rescue and especially on a dreary and raining day. I have a very heavy Mac Tower plus a 23" screen to go with it....so the real reason I intially went to this place was because it was right around the corner AND the reveiws are very positive about this place. So i gave it a try and I was not dissappointed at all!! I do have to say that this place was great, very professional and fast. The same day I dropped it off, same day I had received answer to the issue and a solution. The price was sooooo reasonable that I actually asked "are you sure thats it"!!!lolol If I have any other issues I will definitely go there first. Honestly if your in or near the Crown Heights area and you computer starts acting up call MRK Computer Services first before some expensive Geek Squad or Cyber Nerds!!!! GREAT PLACE!!!!!! read more

The guy who fixed our computer was extremely knowledgeable, professional and fast! He took 10 seconds to diagnose the issue and an hour to fix my old Mac book to a brand new condition. Loved his vibe, he might be the owner (I believe) which means it's a black-owned business (please correct me if I'm wrong) nonetheless it was a great to support this small local business in Crown Heights/PLG. Less stress than trying to go to the Apple store in Williamsburg to pay the outrageous prices for a simple fix. read more

Marc was very helpful, generous, and communicative when fixing my laptop. I needed to replace the battery and it took 3 tries to receive a part that worked (nothing to do with MRK). Thus, Marc did 4x the work by having to install batteries several times and he never charged me extra. He was very patient with my questions and concerns and now my computer is working much better. Yelping from my newly fixed laptop! The past weekend, my Dell XPS laptop screen decided to just go on strike without any notice. After spending 2-3 days searching for old receipts and trying to contact Square Trade, I decided to take it somewhere nearby. Upon researching, I was immediately drawned by the great reviews for MRK. I dropped off my laptop yesterday and promptly received a call from Marc regarding the diagnosis. He was kind and seemed very knowledgeable over the phone. Since I wasn't that computer savvy I decided to go get help. I went in to fix my operating system issues. I decided to go check out the place my self since the amazing reviews it received. To my disappointment the employees were very rude to me . I tried to be nice and ask questions but the employees were very aggressive towards me and acted in a negligent manner. I was told the issue would take 200$ to fix which was extremely unreasonable since a new windows install disc would cost list . The prices at this place are very unfair and not competitive. I would not recommend coming to this establishment unless you want to be royally ripped off. I am disappointed that the yelp reviews were very misleading . I would recommend if your having any computer issues to visit another place. Very pissed off the employees tried to rip me off due to the fact of my age. read more

You can tell when someone really loves what they do. Marc fixed the blue screen of death on my aging HP and replaced Windows Vista with Windows 7 for no extra charge. He even put Microsoft Office back on my system and it was a better version than the one I'd had. My hard drive was a piece of sugar-honey-iced-tea, not the technical term he used, but you get my drift. And to replace it was more than he originally quoted. I was on the budget to end all budgets so I had to stay in my price range. He could've let me leave with my crummy hard drive and risk having problems again but he replaced it anyway. Basically he fixed my system, replaced my hard drive, installed my dusty old hard drive in an enclosure so I could get my data, and has my computer running better than it has in years. And for a very reasonable price. Much more so than if I would've went to the Geek Squad or something. I would absolutely recommend him, he's knowledgeable and professional, and he's like always there, I don't know when this guy sleeps, lol. Support the small businesses, you'll a great level of care for a decent price. And if in the end your computer takes a long walk on a short pier he has refurbished computers for sale, and if you need something in the meantime there's also an internet cafe with Macs and PCs. read more

I started receiving an error message on my laptop stating that my short dist drive had failed. After some online search I realized my hard drive will need to be replaced. I chose MRK computer services based on previous yelp reviews and proximity. I'm extremely happy with my choice. I stopped by the store and spoke with Marc. He explained what had caused my previous drive to fail and provided me with multiple options for a replacement. He told my computer will be available for pickup the next day in evening at the earliest. He later txted that same night (approximately 3 hrs later) after he finished replacing my hard drive to tell me my laptop was ready for pick up anytime from 9am the next day. He actually stayed late to fix it because he knew I wanted to get it back as soon as possible. That was really nice of him and I definitely was not expecting that. He is also extremely affordable and professional. I have never left a yelp review, but decided to because of how professional and nice Marc was. I've use MRK for a couple of years now. The first time my work computer gave me the blue screen of death. Although data recovery wasn't an option, Mark helped re install my entire unit and gave me a fair price. I then had a failed secondary hard drive, Mark found a way to help me get a new one and recommended another company for data recovery. Marc is legit. A true professional, a sweetheart and knows his 'ish. I called him today to let him know that I would bring my mini Acer that had dropped on the floor and all of sudden, couldn't download Adobe products (yes, seriously). My mouse pad also wasn't working either, too. It was a few problems that left me scratching my head. He told me he was running a bit late and was very nice to call me back to let me know he got to the shop (I like that!). I got there around noon, he looked at my computer and said he can fix it in a couple of hours. I was in the movies and yes, he was done after a few hours. Got back to his shop at 7:00pm and he explained everything was fixed. He takes credit cards so I whipped out my CC, spoke for a few more minutes and told him that I will bring my 17-inch Acer laptop to him; half the keyboard doesn't work. I needed to replace my cracked screen on my laptop - though it wasn't an emergency so I was browsing around different company websites around 11 pm one night. That's when I came across MRK and its impressive reviews. I emailed for a quote, then shut down for the night. The next morning I had a response - sent from a real person, not an automated message! - that had been sent 5 minutes after my 11 PM inquiry. Wow. I told Mark I was on a budget and shopping around for the best deal. He said He would take apart my laptop to see what part I needed, give me an exact quote that I could turn down if I wasn't happy - all at no cost. Talk about honesty. In the end the job that was estimated to take a week (I have an old laptop, the part had to be specially ordered) took 1 day. Mark gave me a 12% discount just because. The whole thing was under $200 including tax and labor. The entire time Mark was in contact with me via email and cell. Loved the service and rates with Mark! When I first checked in, he wasn't at the shop yet (the shop's long hours mean he can't be there round the clock, but checks in frequently) but his coworker who helped me was so friendly and knowledgeable. I went in because my LCD screen was broken and left my laptop with her after filling out and receiving a copy of paperwork. When Mark got in later that afternoon, he sent me an email with a quote for the part, labor, and (gasp!) virus removal. I loved that everything was in writing and he let me know what the charges would be and when I could expect the laptop back (three days, as soon as the part came in). He didn't start the repair until I agreed to everything and I wasn't charged until after I got my computer back. I was offered a delivery option if I needed it and I also wasn't charged a penny over what I had been quoted. Mark told me he had my computer within hours of when he said the LCD screen would arrive to the shop, which means he works with the utmost urgency. You don't have to wait on him because he will call and/or email you to let you know that the job has been completed or that he's waiting on a part. Highly recommended! I brought in my Sony VAIO laptop that would turn off within 3 minutes of booting up. I had a feeling that the issue was overheating (a rather common issue based on internet search) and the owner of MRK confirmed that it was. The fan wasn't working. He fixed it on the spot, quickly and efficiently, while I waited on a comfortable couch. He also cleaned up some debris that were clogging up the fan. All in all it took about an hour and cost $65 plus tax, which I thought was a very fair price. If I have any problems with my laptop again, I would definitely come back. I can't say enough good things about Mark. Background: After two years, my Lenovo suddenly stopped connecting to the internet. It had essentially become a brick with word processing capabilities. I spent two days trying to fix it on my own (reinstalling the drivers, resetting the router, buying a USB wifi adapter, etc.) but no luck. Finally, I decided to bite the bullet and take the computer to an expert. While searching Yelp for nearby computer repair services, I stumbled across Mark's business and his glowing reviews. "Wow!" I thought. "I've never seen a five star business on Yelp before!" Little did I know, Mark doesn't deserve five stars... He deserves at least six or seven. First, I went to Mark's office in Crown Heights. Mark walked me through a diagnostic and the problem seemed to be fixed. He refused to charge me anything for that. I went home skipping, thinking the problem was gone, but alas, my computer still couldn't connect to my home network for some reason. I called Mark, and he walked me through several other diagnostics (again for no charge), but no dice. I can't emphasize enough that Mark tried his best to solve my problem for no charge, which pretty much no store of any kind in New York would do ever. Trip to Mark's office #2. Mark offered to replace my hard drive and completely reboot my computer, which was really the only option left. He did all of this in an hour and a half, late on a Friday night, for an extremely reasonable price. I took the computer back home and still, unfortunately, the problem was not fixed. After letting Mark know, he offered to stop by my house to check it out IN PERSON for no extra charge. This is clearly far above and beyond the call of duty. Mysteriously, by the time Mark was heading over the next day, the network connection was working fine. Obviously, something he had done along the way worked. (Believe me - I had spent 16+ hours trying to fix it myself and made no progress.) Mark was very polite about showing up for now, basically no reason, and gave me instructions on how to call Lenovo to re-register my OS. Bottom line is, the problem is solved, I'm very happy with my new hard drive, and my computer works like new... which I didn't even think was possible. I want to note that I'm not a computer person and Mark never condescended to or tried to upsell me. Instead, he explained every option step by step in layman's terms and put me completely at ease. He was also able to juggle my frequent, distressed phone calls while working with other customers and maintaining an impressive Jedi-like calm. The only mistake made during this whole process was that I didn't go to Mark earlier. Mark was able to quickly guide me to the solution in one day and saved me the thousands of dollars that a new computer would cost. If I ever encounter computer problems in the future, I will go to Mark first, and I will be enthusiastically recommending his business to everyone I know. read more

I sent a quote request in for virus removal frantically on a Saturday night after NYC was decimated by hurricane Sandy and I was leaving Sunday morning on business. Mark called me within 15 minutes of my submitting the form and told me if I could bring it in at 8:30pm on a Saturday night, he could fix it before close. A self-professed computer nerd, I was completely embarrassed by my problem - so naturally, the first thing I said when he called was, "I'm a complete dumbass" and his response, "No, you're not a dumbass." He stayed past close whilst I waited to get my HP up and running again with professionalism, poise, and patience - and not to mention, for a completely reaonsable price.
