As an independent freelancer with a growing clientele, when it came time to create my own website with Squarespace, I thought it would be an easy, straightforward process. Long story short, I couldn't have been more wrong. Although creating an account was a relatively simple process, setting up a website that was both functional and aesthetic was far less straightforward than it was advertised to be. For people who have full time jobs, working through the nuances of website design--how to manipulate images, change spacing between elements, understand how your site will function on a desktop vs. mobile, etc.--is exhausting. Squarespace doesn't offer any direct customer support, and when you do email them for help, they simply send you links to read and "how to" videos to watch. All in all the time and energy it takes to learn how to work with simple design elements can be extremely discouraging. Yes, you can set up a site, but there will be lots of things wrong with it and it will never really look like a professionally built site, which of course it isn't. Working with Mark, however, was simple, easy, and ultimately saved me an incredible amount of energy. After trying to work on my own with Squarespace for almost 2 years, I had a website, but it was nothing like what Mark was able to produce in a short period of time. What's more, working with Mark provided me with a website that was functional, professional, and beautifully reflects my personal brand. Not only does he possess an intricate off-hand knowledge of how the platform works, but he understands custom coding and will go to any lengths necessary to make sure you get what you want when it comes to the design of your site.
