The space is well put together, inside of a former Army church, surrounded by abandoned buildings, it's a really nice venue to view art in. It's been restored by not too much, it's still rustic. They offer beer, wine, and snacks, and were playing your standard electronic ambient music. For the most part I also really enjoyed the selections of pieces from artists they were showing. The main room has great acoustics and we got to see a cello player perform. The garden out back is a great space that's both part of the exhibit and a location to hang out in. There are old velvet couches sprinkled through the overgrowth, tiki torches and fairy lights highlighting both artwork, old mechanical equipment, and neglected garden decorations. If you go through the garden, around the back to where this massive hulking abandoned building is, you'll find a direct route to the beach too. Definitely worth stopping to take a look at if you're nearby.

We took two knife making classes here on consecutive Saturdays... wow, what memorable, fun and…read morerewarding experiences! I was clueless but excited and we dove in to the process. The teachers were all incredibly patient and helpful and let us do our thing, but guided us the appropriate amount. We now have amazing custom knives built by our own two hands! But, even better, we have this experience together! Life is good when you try something new!

This is a nice date night experience…read more Sorry for my late review work has been really busy but I didn't forget to write an honest review based on our experience. I booked a late Father's Day gift for my husband took him to the up-cycle Game Boy class. We love playing games together so I booked it for each of us to get a game boy in the end. You are given the opportunity of picking which gameboy you are going to repair, and you do all the work. You take it apart clean it dry it put it in a I believe was a laser cutter, You customize it and set you up your speaker, screen and motherboard. You get the full experience. He really loved it and so did I, I am not experienced at all in welding or anything like that and the instructors were so helpful and knowledgeable. The way the walk you through it was really helpful to the point I was able to memorize the steps and retake apart the game boy to replace a piece that was oxidized. Don't worry the staff will help you if you're second guessing your ability to do this lol. The best part in the end is you keep it. ^_^ I highly recommend this 1 day class it was very helpful informative and fun. I will be coming back to try to make the survival knife next lol.

Local event resources were hyping up an evening comedy show at a new spot called "The Collective"…read more The tickets for the show were available in various packages, some of which included a "custom hat", which was very mysterious to us. Hats seemed like an odd counterpart to a night of humor, but we also had not heard of The Collective and were not sure what type of business it was. Thanks to a sidewalk placard, we were able to locate the business on the second floor of a smaller, remodeled building. The sign called out the hat crafting, which was particularly helpful in catching our eyes, though we were still not sure what to find when we made our way upstairs. My companion was recovering from surgery and was happy to see that the modernized building included a small elevator so that he could avoid the narrow staircase. When we arrived at The Collective, we were created by incredibly nice folks! We were introduced to the owners, Gary and Grace, a young couple that created one of the most unique and creative spaces in town! Gary took us on a tour, where we saw an art gallery with pieces from various local artists, a room selling vintage rock t-shirts and records, a custom hat designing studio (trucker's and cowboy-ish styles), a candle-making facility and display area, and much more. The team was really optimizing their location by offering a variety of after-hours classes and events, all of which were BYOB. The first of which was the comedy performance, which was held in the main room, where a variety of mismatched seating and a small stage were located. The troupe was led by Matt, while the show was MCed by Grace (a different woman than the owner). The two of them were outstanding, as was every other comedian in the hour and half-long show. We had been to a good number of similar local acts and been very let down by the lack of laughter generated. However, that show was had us cackling out loud! We truly enjoyed our time at The Collective and all of the friendly people that we met there; we could not have asked for a better evening! I hope to attend some of their future events as well.
