My computer suddenly wouldn't turn on because it could not detect the hard drive. Random, but painful. I call lenovo and they walk me through several different strategies, but alas the computer still wouldn't start. Based on alphaaurax reviews, I stop by to see if there's anything they can do for me. They end up fixing the problem in 30 minutes, explaining the process, and giving me recommendations for how to prevent a similar thing from happening again. Excellent place to get computer fixed. Fixed the power button on my computer (and also cleaned up my desktop pc). They misplaced the little wireless usb receiver that I use with my wireless mouse, but promptly offered me the money (even though I couldn't prove that they lost it) to replace it. In fact, they offered more money than it cost! Definitely recommend for computer repair. read more

When my laptop crashed, I needed a reputable place to get it repaired. I checked yelp and Alphaurax has rave reviews, better than most of the other places near me, so I went there to have it fixed. I dropped it off on a Saturday afternoon, they called me that same day letting me know what needed to be done and how much it would cost (I needed a new hard drive) and it was ready by Monday. Not only did they fix my hard drive, but they also fixed another issue I was having with the computer free of charge (wifi problems) and reinstalled some of the programs I was using for a small fee (such as Microsoft Office). I would not hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone who needs their computer fixed. EXCELLENT !!!! I love these guys. Went there just after my computer crashed with the 'blue screen of death'. My computer crashed. Completely. Dead. Day before Christmas. No file backup, of course. Called someone listed on Yelp who was barely interested; said he could come by in perhaps a week or two. Then I found these guys. Brought my computer in (to a hardware store; they work out of the back. Not easy to find) in a pouring rain, the day after Christmas. They looked it over, said it would take a day or two to restore it. Called me back the next day and said they were done. Replaced my hard drive with a new, larger one; managed to transfer every file. Good as new. Cost $250 and was well worth it. They're just great. read more

I had not had any repair work done in Queens where I moved to a few years ago. My Asus Desktop needed some serious attention. I got on Yelp and went with Alphaurax. They are excellent. Jin was my tech. He did a fantastic job. The hard drive was dying and the thing was internally a dust mess. Jin got the whole thing done quickly and expertly. I really got lucky when I went online to find an independent computer repair person near my home and found Alphaurax. Forget Geek Squad, they are nowhere near as caring and careful and responsive. Han, one of the owners of this business, spent at least 90 minutes listening to my questions and helping me to understand that I didn't actually need to increase my HP Pavilion laptop's memory.He did discover that because of years of dust and gunk buildup, the fan was not working and my computer was running way too hot. I left my laptop with him for about 1 1/2 hours and then went back for it. He had downloaded a program that I can use to check my computer's temperature. He had suggested I buy an external hard drive since I haven't ever backed up anything on my laptop in the 7 years I've had it, so I did and when I came back for my now-clean laptop, he showed me how to use it. He also solved a problem with my Firefox browser (or what I thought was a problem, but it was just that Firefox had changed how you save web pages and articles to Pocket). He also showed me that the necessary Windows security updates had been downloaded, when I thought they weren't. All of this only cost me $80. And they give you a three-month warranty on their repairs. The one little problem that I found when I brought my laptop home,was that keys on my keyboard were sticking because cleaning out the dust had pushed some of it onto the connector to my keyboard. I brought it back the next day and Jin, who also works at Alphaurax, easily fixed that problem. Jin and Han are really nice people and their work is fantastic. By the way, their business is in the back of a hardware store (they lease the space from the hardware store owner) so if you go to them, just be aware that you will have to walk into the hardware store and go through to the back. read more

These guys are great. They're young entrepreneurs who have recently started this new business so their prices are extremely affordable, they value customer service, and right off the bat, you get the feeling they're trustworthy. They're smart too; they know their stuff. I hadn't used my computer in about ten months because it was so over polluted with viruses. It also needed to be cleaned of all the dust it collected internally, and there was slight hardware damage due to overheating. These guys attended to my computer in a timely manner and gave me a call when they discovered there were even more viruses than anticipated. So much damage had been done that they would need to completely wipe out my system. They saved all my files and put them back after wiping out the computer. It required more work than they originally thought but they didn't charge me a dollar more. Now, my computer is running as though it's brand new. I will be using these guys for all my tech needs.
