We had visited the Ford Estate and were looking on Yelp to find a place for lunch. We decided to give Alma Kitchen a try and we were so glad we did! The service was friendly and good. The restaurant was clean, inviting and loved the wood table we sat at! I ordered the Brutus chicken sandwich and it was so good! Cooked perfectly! My other family had the burrito, sliders, jam burger and eggs with bacon. Everyone loves what they ordered! Prices were extremely reasonable and portions were fabulous! We are giving Alma's two thumbs up! We got take out so we have no comment on the dine in experience but the food was really good! We got wings, bibimbap, chicken and waffles, chicken sandwich and pulled pork sandwich. Everything was well seasoned and fresh. The ambiance is great. Everyone is friendly but the kitchen moves to the beat of its own drum. All of the food taste like white peoples went on a trip and had it then got home and tried to recreate it with ketchup and peanut butter. HANDS DOWN the best new restaurant in the area in a very long time. And, the best carry out experience and food that we have had in months. And we eat out a lot ... I wish we hadn't inhaled the meal so quickly so I could have shared photos. ‍ We sampled the chicken tortilla soup, chicken and mushroom pasta, smoked shrimp arrabbiata and the upside down apple pie. We got carryout and wanted to try different dishes. Some were better than others. I was excited to try the crab ragoons after reading the reviews. Unfortunately, the first one was empty with no filling. The rest had minimal filling and mostly tasted like fried wonton. The pepper beef was my favorite- very flavorful and the meat was tender. The coconut curry chicken was also delicious. The roasted poblano quesadilla with grilled shrimp was ok. Not all the shrimp were deveined which was unappetizing and I don't think the shrimp were grilled- just thawed precooked shrimp (no grill marks or char or seasoning). I think the quesadillas may be great in person (though I'd skip the shrimp) but in the to-go container they were stacked hot on top of one another and the steam made them very soggy and all stuck together. A piece of foil between them or different container may have helped. The honey tamarind chicken lollipops weren't bad, just not my thing though others liked them. I'd order again for the beef and maybe try something different. read more

Wow. This place is so good. There were so many things I wanted to try, but between two hungry people we settled on the shrimp and Crab Rangoon, Korean wings, Brutas chicken sandwich and the jambalaya. Ordered takeout from Alma during the holidays and it was delicious! We ordered pasta, a salad, the ABC scallion dish, the bread pudding and apple pie. My fav was the bread pudding! It's amazing. Dined in around 4:30 pm on a Sunday. At the time, we were the only customers in building. Server placed water on table with lettuce in glasses. When we placed our beverage orders we requested straws and fresh glass of water. We received soft drinks but no water replacement or the requested straws. After waiting for about ten minutes, I simply walked to the bar and requested a glass of water and straw. Ordered shrimp ragoons- do not order these. For the size of these, they were not stuffed at all. The tiny shrimp that were included were not deveined. Server never returned to check on how appetizers were or to even offer refills on beverages. Ordered salmon Caesar and husband ordered chicken sandwich. Salmon cooked perfectly and husband enjoyed chicken sandwich. All in all, service lacked and can use some work. When we got the bill, ragoons we're still on the bill after we did not eat as they were not deveined. Manager came over and was questioning why I wanted them off bill. I explained I did not eat them, and for the price they were not filled at all and the shrimp was not deveined. She explained that since the shrimp was tiny they wouldn't be deveined. If I'm being charged for food, I would like it to be properly cleaned. Spend the extra food cost, use normal size shrimp, and maybe chop up and actually fill the ragoon for price being charged. read more

Ordered last night...everything was excellent. Great communication as well with text alerts of the progress of your order including when it is ready. Walked in and was greeted with my order....cannot say how smooth the whole process went. In addition the restaurant looks great inside; cannot wait until we can dine in. My wife had the beef and rice dish which she loved; Inhad the chicken and waffles with mushroom gravy which was fantastic; and finally our daughter had the vegetable penne that she gobbled up. Alma's has consistently been one of the best foodie spots in the Pointes. It's an Asian/Mexican fusion that is always delicious without failure. I have never ordered anything from here that hasn't been at least really good if not amazing. Their carry out is usually just as good as what you get in person which is rare to get from restaurants, and staff is always nice and helpful. The restaurant is kept extremely clean and tidy, never once have I felt uncomfortable eating their by hygiene standards. Easily a must go to in the Pointes. read more

The food was amazing!! You can't go wrong with any menu option. If you make reservations for a large group, please know that there's only one check per table. This isn't shared on the website, nor when you place the reservation (in our case). Most of the servers were helpful with the exception of Leslie. She was very short, wasn't very attentive, and developed an attitude towards the end of service with our group. There was no apology for her miscommunication, instead she was extremely defensive and inappropriate. This wasn't a great reflection of this amazing restaurant. read more

Modern restaurant, all glass, metal and concrete like sitting in a tin box, so if you're here on a Saturday night, after 5:30 pm with loud inebriated (?) people at the bar, you won't be too happy, they keep the music up loud and for me it was "a get me outta here experience" When it got çrowded, we were yelling just so we could hear each other. Food was fine, we both had pulled pork generous serving on brioche bun with slaw to cut the spiceness. Overall tasty, would get it again with a side of regular bbq sauce. It was served with basic fries which according to the very sweet waitress, just had salt and pepper on them, really? For me a bit too much, hubby was fine with it, the pulled pork, that is, but he didn't like the fries. Had a slice of flavorless carrot cake, which was dry, with a "cheesecake" type of filling also lacking flavor, the best part was the drizzle of Carmel sauce, not enough to moisten there carrot cake. Wanted to like this place, might try again for lunch with the girlfriends. Suggestion to owner, try separating the massive bar from the dining experience, put in some sound proofing on the walls.... when we left we saw several couples walk in and promptly turn around due to the noise level, they were younger than us, lol!! read more

I cannot rave enough about Alma!!! I have been there 3 times and everything has been phenomenal!! I consider myself to be a bit of a crab rangoon expert and I've never had any like these, the brie is really a unique touch. The shrimp corn potstickers are amazing, tasted like I was at dimsum! The short rib sandwich is outstanding!! Like I was thinking about that sandwich for a long time. The short ribs were perfectly tender! The michigan cherry pulled pork with apple coleslaw was so tasty and not too sweet!! The best thing I've had there was the bibimbap!! It is perfectly cooked bits of steak with sweet potatoes and zucchini over rice and the sauce is sweet and spicy! Exquisite!! One of the best things I've ever eaten. This place is local and they opened during the pandemic so I'm so happy to support them!!! Planning on trying so many more things on the menu! read more

Food was amazing (I had shrimp & grits), prices were reasonable. They'd weren't super busy on a Tuesday night but our waitress was sub-par. Our food came quickly but we had to wait several long minutes for silverware. At the end of our meal, my friend asked for a leftover container. Waitress disappeared for another long stretch (was not waiting on other customers) and we had to ask bartender if she could locate our waitress. She came back and had no memory of us asking for the container but finally brought it with the bill. Never asked if we wanted dessert. Despite this, I would return to try other dishes. read more

Our family has lived in the Grosse Pointe area since early 2020 and this is our new favorite spot bar none. The food has been great , I've had the Cajun salmon burger, it was the best of its kind I've ever had. My wife and son both love the Brutus chicken sandwich, we've also had the chicken and waffles and the parmesan chicken salad and loved both. Their food is creative and delicious.
