Greek Salad
K M.

We stopped in with our family relative who just wanted a simple diner experience. Coolidge Cafe is more than that! The recent remodeling makes this clean, cool and airy interior even more inviting. Though a large screen TVs are powered, they're muted for easy conversation. Comfortable booth and table seating is available. Did I mention how pleasant everyone was? From the hostess at the register who welcomed us, to the attentive server and her assistant who bussed our meal - smiled, spoke with kindness, and made every patron feel seen. We ordered breakfast items, and I had a Greek Salad. Wow!! Portions are large. The salad was fresh and beautifully plated. The tasty dressing was placed in covered containers on the side. The grilled pita bread was warm, crispy and tasted lightly-seasoned delicious. We will return. We will bring out of towners. Kudos to the Chef, the wonderful staff and the Management.

Very huge portions, warm friendly inviting atmosphere. It can busy extremely busy depending the time you visit. The staff is very polite. You can tell the customers are loyal repeat patrons. Pricing is normal but you get more for your money. Omelettes are gigantic as everything is....it all looks good. Taste does very a little depending on what you get. They went through a recent remodel, everything looks great.

My husband wasn't excited about trying this new spot out, it seemed a bit rough from the outside and looked a bit old and and dated inside as well. Zina is waiting on us. Tables are blocked off for social distancing. They have a 60% for their health violations. Zina hasn't come to our table yet, she might be doing the register too. No one has come for over 3 minutes at all, what's up that? She came a few seconds later, apologized for coming to our table late. Asked if we were ready. Ordered a vegetarian omelet with cheddar and hash browns and a side of rye. The bread options are white, wheat and rye here. I wanted a biscuit sandwich with eggs, fried well, cheddar cheese, turkey sausage and turkey bacon, well done and a side of hash browns well done with green peppers and onions. The biscuit was made to order and looked and tasted decent. The turkey sausage were links and there were two nicely crispy turkey bacon strips too. The biscuit was okay, a bit dry, but decent. The hash browns were perfectly crispy, not burned, just the way I like them. The food was out within minutes, it seemed. Food service is quite quick here. The veggie omelet was average, per my husband, the hash browns were average as well. They do use canned mushrooms for their veggie omelet, not fresh, as they had the look and rubbery feel of canned mushrooms. The line for carry out gets busy, then again it's lunchtime now. There are 8 people waiting for their food in line and now we are waiting again for our bill. All the waitstaff are focused on orders and pickups now. Food is waiting to be taken to guests, but there's no one to take it out yet. I finally had to go up to the counter and wait for Zina to hand me the bill and then I had to wait in line again to cash out. One couple left after they ordered their food and nothing was coming out. That food was still waiting to be taken out after I cashed out. I would be livid if that was my food I saw just sitting there getting cold. The service was unbelievably slow and frustrating today. It felt like I had to keep asking for someone to pay attention to us at all. The only plus was they did a good job of crisping up my hash browns today.

I had no idea I'd have such a fabulous breakfast at this café. I had two huge pieces of catfish with grits, scrambled eggs, and toast. My friend's He-Man breakfast was plentiful also with bacon, sausage, ham, two eggs, grits, and toast. Both of us enjoyed our meal and agreed that we had to return.

Coolidge Cafe is usually one our favorite spots and a treat when we go. Unfortunately, this past time just didn't do so well for me. The service is always pleasant. Arriving around 10am, the place had ample seating available. Once we were seated the place quickly filled up. It's a popular joint. I ordered a salmon croquette breakfast with grits, cheese eggs and wheat toast. My husband a skillet breakfast and my daughter French toast. Upon my food arriving, I immediately felt something was a bit off. Looking at the salmon it didn't look properly seasoned. I saw no trace of cornmeal either. After my first forkful, my assumption was correct. The taste was bland and didn't even have salt or pepper on it. I ate one to be polite but couldn't stomach eating the other one. I couldn't finish my eggs or grits either. Meanwhile, my husband and Daughter loved their meals and raved about going back. I'll definitely be back, I'll just order the catfish next time.

They have the best turkey bacon in town. It's thick and cooked well. The scrambled egg are also the best. Nice family atmosphere

Rubbery catfish. Other than that it's decent but nothing to rave about. It's just OK.

Always good food, large servings and great service. If you like soups, they always have several choices. Fish dinner is highly recommended.

Walking in, there was very limited seating and about an hour wait, which clearly showed how popular this spot is. Thankfully, the hostess told us about their basement bar area where you can grab drinks and snacks while waiting. The downstairs area had such a cool speakeasy vibe dark ambiance, vinyl music playing, and honestly the perfect date night atmosphere. The drinks were REALLY good, and you can also order appetizers down there. Once we made it upstairs, we grabbed bar seating and talked to a few people around us who all said this was their favorite spot. Our bartender was amazing -- super attentive, explained the menu well, and gave great recommendations. We ordered the wings (perfectly seasoned and so good) and the chicken sandwich with buffalo added for a little spice... absolutely delicious. I also tried the pistachio martini, and wow definitely one of my favorite drinks I've had in a while. Overall, such a great experience from the atmosphere to the food and service. I'll definitely be back, and I've already been telling all my friends about this place!

Then someone politely said y'all must be looking for downstairs. Sure were! As it turned out, we were escorted downstairs to what people refer to as the Vinyl Room. If you're looking to host a larger party for a birthday or any other get together, this is a great spot. The starters of cornbread, candy bacon and sprouts were must-haves even though you knew you'd fill up a little too much. The brisket had depth, the pulled pork not needing sauce so you just add a splash for the taste, and everything felt like it had a point of view. Unfortunately, this place seems to have abruptly pivoted into a Tex-Mex concept, and it's not doing them any favors. The new menu feels confused. It leans heavily on Tex-Mex staples but still tries to incorporate the old smoked meats (which the brisket WAS still the same thankfully), and the result is a mismatch that never quite comes together. Everything sounds promising in theory, but what arrived was underwhelming--neither a satisfying barbecue dish nor a standout Tex-Mex offering. It's as if the kitchen is trying to be two different restaurants at once and succeeding at neither. To make matters worse, the menu itself is physically difficult to read--the font is so small and cramped that ordering becomes more of a strain than it should ever be. The atmosphere didn't help. At one point during our meal, a staff member began loudly sweeping the floor and slamming chairs around nearby (and it went on for nearly half an hour?!), completely disrupting the experience. It felt careless and intrusive, especially while guests were still actively dining. The one bright spot of the evening was our waiter, who was genuinely excellent. Attentive without being overbearing, friendly, and quick to try and smooth over our disappointment - he did everything he could to salvage the experience. If service alone determined our return, we'd be back. But it doesn't. Between the identity crisis in the kitchen, the mediocre execution, the distracting environment, and even something as basic as an unreadable menu, this place has lost what made it worth visiting in the first place. It's disappointing to say, but we won't be returning.

A thicker cut would really let you taste the high-quality flavor of the beef. If you're going to order, here are a few pro tips: Get the sauce on the side: It's an excellent sauce, but you are much better off dipping. Otherwise, the burger will totally get drenched and lose the meat flavor profile. The bacon situation: They smash little bits of bacon directly into the patty. You can barely taste it this way, and it would be significantly better just served as traditional strips on top. So I would prob get it without next time. The Tallow Fries: These have huge potential, but unfortunately, mine arrived pretty soggy via delivery. I should have thrown them in the air fryer to crisp them back up, as I know they would be amazing fresh out of the fryer dripping in tallow. And they would have worked much better as larger almost steak cut fries to let the tallow flavor shine more. However as i ate them, i would still choose cajun 5 guys fries well done over them. My order for a burger and fries came to almost $40 (including tip) through their delivery service. Is it worth that price point for a delivery order? Probably not. However, the core ingredients are so good that I definitely plan to visit the restaurant in person so I can experience the food fresh and at its best.
