Here is what we noticed: - Atmosphere is ok but a bit cavernous, not particularly comfy. - We started with cocktails. The Old Fashioned was a bit on the small side, but tasty! - My wife and I ordered both the Brutus Chicken Sandwich and the Roasted Poblano Quesadilla. While both were really tasty, the quesadilla won the contest for the best! - Service was great...attentive but not overbearing. - 20% gratuity was automatically added onto the bill. Great food, doors open to beautiful weather - we ate late lunch luxuriously al fresco today! Chicken tortilla soup had excellent flavor. The walnut/bleu cheese salad hit the mark. Alma kitchen is a bit of a difficult review for our experience. We went early evening and they were not busy, we were able to be seated right away. The menu is large and eclectic, which generally makes me nervous for the food. American, Asian, seafood...and Hawaiian. I was pleasantly surprised by how good my moco loco was, as good as I've had on the island. I had some of my friend's seafood crepe. It was interesting, I enjoyed a few bits, but would not order it. Our other friends enjoyed their bibimbap and stuffed salmon. The drinks were also good, though their cocktail list appeared to be from Christmas/winter. The interior is basic and modern, I did like that they have large doors that would open in warm weather. The only negative was the the service. Despite the restaurant not being busy we waited a long time for our food. Then we had to search for our server, who did not come back to check on us, to be able to pay. read more

We can so close to after brunch they allowed me to get the brunch waffles. It took a long time for our food. I really think only 2 people were working. Our server was nice and attentive. Alma Kitchen is our go to place for Saturday and Sunday brunch, and sometimes dinner with the family. It's my favorite restaurant and, in my opinion, the best in the area. We were told that the owner is the chef who cooks every dish, and you can really taste the fresh ingredients in the food. We've never had a bad meal here. Since my first review I have sat in, done pickup, and ordered through DoorDash. Everything is still always hot fresh and tasty. The one qualm I have is for DoorDash that sometimes they don't bring the whole order but they must not be asking for the whole order. I'm happy to have such a good restaurant so close to home. The staff was very friendly and welcoming initially the menu didn't highlight vegan options so I would recommend asking your wait staff for the vegan menu with annotations. I opted for the vegan tofu dish and it was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed the aesthetic of the restaurant it was beautiful and the decor was relaxing. My only strife for me and my guest were the flies. I understand that it's summer so whenever you open the door thousands of them attempt to get in but it took away from the dining experience. One of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant. Got seated was told my server would be by, server didn't show up for ten minutes. Ordered a Guinness and a shot, shot was served to me Guinness took 10-15 minutes to some me. Order chicken and waffles. How can you mess that up two chicken pieces that were over cooked and dry like no other. Waffle was cold and they don't even have maple syrup it's high fructose caramel colored syrup. Service was horrible and they make you leave 20 percent gratuity. As well the sever was sneezing and didn't was her hands and the server treys were dirty I bet the kitchen is nasty read more

Alma kitchen has become somewhat of a staple in our family, being an easy favorite of my husband and brother's. Oftentimes when thinking of a location for weekend brunch, this is an easy choice. We've also been here for celebratory lunches and birthdays. The space is expansive with lots of seating making it great for larger groups. Hats off to the servers for managing this! I've been here multiple times with large parties, no one has ever been disappointed with their meal. Every dish here is very well thought out, rich, and executed. Each meal uses lots of different ingredients, nothing is simple here and you can really tell. My favorite meals are the Cajun salmon burger and the Asian black pepper shrimp. I wanted to really like this place, but they misrepresent their food in their menu and charge extreme fees for delivery services. I ordered their crab Rangoons as a five piece. I received four and they were all barely filled and I detected NO SEAFOOD. They were burned in the outside and nearly uncooked in the middle. Like they flash fried a shoddy product in two minutes instead of doing the job. The sauce was also generic and tasted bland. I also ordered the curried coconut chicken. I will say it smelled great, but nowhere does it list on this app, doordash, or their website its served OVER rice. I cant eat rice at the moment for digestive issues. And it should have been on the side. No one serves curry on the rice. Its meant to be eaten on the side. After delivery and thirty minutes later all of the curry was absorbed into what I cant eat right now. I had high expectations for this place but now I doubt ill be back. They need to update their menus and inform their staff accordingly. read more

We've been by here a bunch of times and today we finally had time to try it and it exceeded all expectations. Clean, a bit modern decor with some excellent art outside and inside. All the staff was super friendly, came by multiple times to make sure we didn't need anything and that the food was good. I'll start with drinks, the spicy Bloody Mary was excellent balance of flavors and the coffee was a medium to dark roast very wonderful flavor, loved it was served with the little cup of creamer. We got the fried chicken lollipop(wings) had an excellent crunch with with an excellent sweet/spicy/tangy sauce, I would say the heat level is probably mild plus to medium as far as heat level. Wasn't sure what to expect with the churro donuts but they truly were a churro donut, the crunchy outside and soft pillowy inside nicely dusted with cinnamon and sugar and a freshly made caramel sauce not a sauce from a jar. My husband got the Loco Moco which I got to try a little and the brown gravy is amazing, could probably put that on anything. Loved the Chicken Chilaquiles kind of breakfast nacho for anyone who hasn't had Chilaquiles. You can tell they make all the components themselves, had such wonderful flavor. I didn't know if it was because we were the first order of the afternoon or if it's always like that, but I had a bit of a headache afterward. My friend ordered the burger and fries. He devoured the entire burger which was large. I helped with the fries; who can resist helping a friend with some really good fries! Our waitress was attentive, she was busy because the restaurant was full on a Sunday evening. We were lucky to get a booth, we only waited maybe 5-10 minutes. Wow... just wow. What a great spot. They have a mostly South American menu but there is a great variety. I went out of my comfort zone and got the loco moco and I was very impressed. The portion was generous, the egg was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were fantastic. I was also really impressed with the Korean chicken wings (the side of kimchi was a nice touch) and the chicken satay had a beautiful presentation and taste. Service was very friendly and efficient. *Visited on July 19th for lunch* I recently had lunch at Alma Kitchen on a Wednesday afternoon. Despite being busier than I expected, it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded. This wasn't my first visit, and it's always a great low-key spot for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Located on the border of Detroit and Grosse Pointe, the restaurant has a good-sized space and a private parking lot, so street parking isn't necessary. The service was quick in getting my food out, but my waitress only checked on me a few times. For example, when I was ready for the bill, it took a little longer than expected for her to return. I even thought she might have finished her shift and someone else had taken over. Nonetheless, it wasn't a major issue that would deter me from returning. I ordered a Sprite and water, an appetizer of spinach dip, and a pulled pork sandwich as my main course. The spinach dip was delicious, earning a 4/5, and came with real pita bread chips instead of the usual thin ones. The pulled pork sandwich was also a 4/5; it was a bit spicy, but I didn't mind that. Gratuity is included on every bill, which was fine with me as a solo diner. My total came to about $30. The environment is cool and not too loud, though the tables are a bit close together. Took a star off my review for slow service (when there were only three tables filled) and the addition of a tip for a party of two. This place is such a hidden gem. It's great for literally every meal with brunch options, regular lunch, or dinner. I love how the menu features cuisine from all over the world, with chicken satay, lomo saltado, korean wings, etc. I've had a ton of their menu and like to try out different things and everything I've had has been great. They have insanely large portions and great prices. It's usually not busy either, so you can typically just walk in and get seated. It's a really nice interior with the garage door that sometimes is open, depending on the weather, and lots of parking in the vicinity. Food- we ordered the spinach dip for an appetizer, and the pita chips that came with it were good but the dip was lacking taste. A few of us ordered the sliders and the meat was thick and was just ok. Also, a chicken Parmesan salad was ordered and the chicken was gross and looked old and the person who ordered this in our party took it off her salad and did not eat it. We had two kids in our party who ordered chicken and fries and the fries were tasty. The kids enjoyed their ice cream treat after their meal that I asked the server for due to it being mentioned on the menu. Service- the waitress was nice, but I felt like in the beginning it took a little longer for her to take our order and it wasn't busy. They do add gratuity to all bills which I don't mind that much. So I have never seen or heard of this place. This was my first time going so I was excited to see what they had to offer. I didn't know what kind of establishment it was, but the reviews all looked good. I was going to order takeout, so I called ahead to place an order... the only issue is that they didn't answer the phone and I called twice. So I got there and it was empty. Not one person in the place eating so I was skeptical. It was a nice interior and I can tell the vibe was very laid back. I was greeted upon entering and the staff was very friendly. I ended up ordering the Stuffed Salmon and the Crab Rangoon. The wait was about 20 mins for my food. The stuffed salmon was on a bed of orzo with butternut squash. It was stuffed with crab, brie, and a lemon butter sauce. The flavor combinations were amazing. The Crab Rangoon came with a sweet chili doing sauce as well. OMG you need to try this place if in the area! The food was delicious, I got the chicken and waffles. The chicken had the perfect seasoning in the breading, the waffles were nice and sweet but not too sweet yumm. The wait staff were nice and very patient.
