The study was beautifully decorated, warm and inviting. Cameron took care of us. Nice guy and attentive. Hubby and I started with cocktails. He had an interesting bourbon drink with aperol and amaro. It was so good - and pretty! I had my usual bees knees. Missed the mark unfortunately. It had some fizz, which it should just be gin, lemon and honey. No soda. We ordered the deviled eggs as a starter. They were made with dijon and cornichons, topped with paprika, chives and lardon. Such a delicious bite. Hubby had the salmon tacos from the daily special menu. He loved the Spanish rice that came on the plate and the perfectly seasoned moist salmon. I had the seafood tagliatelle with shrimp, crab, salmon belly, fennel, and capers in a vodka sauce topped with toasted breadcrumbs. It was amazing! Thankfully, we had a refrigerator in our hotel room because I took half the tagliatelle to go. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're ever in the Grand Rapids area. We were able to make a reservation online easily and were seated almost immediately. The table was near the open door and it was such a lovely lovely fall night. They also decorated a sweet little postcard saying Happy Birthday to me! I thought it was a very cute personal touch. All staff that we interacted with were delightful We started with some cocktails: I got a Daisy Du and my wife got an Amelia. They were both so delicious! Later I also got a strawberry granita and it was YUM. I am not normally someone who orders cocktails because they are too expensive for my taste and I am generally content without any alcohol, but I wanted something special for my birthday. For apps we got a half dozen oysters and crab and artichoke dip. Both was amazing and we ate all of it. The jalapeno mignonette was INCREDIBLE and such a delicious addition to a standard mignonette. The crab in the dip was real crab and the bread it came with was the perfect balance of sturdy and crispy but soft and easy to eat. We ordered the 14oz Ribeye (rare) and 8oz Waygu Sirloin (medium rare) as our apps. The steaks were cooked perfectly and all the sides/sauces were so delicious. Truly cannot speak highly enough of how delicious these steaks were, like so good y'all. I have been to many steakhouses and have had steaks that weren't as good, but cost more than what we had at BU. I had thought I would get a complimentary dessert because it was my birthday (like it was my ACTUAL birthday), but we didn't get one. We were so full I didn't follow up to ask and it wasn't a big deal. I might have been incorrect in my assumption, but saw it in other people's reviews.

The service was exceptional from start to finish. Everyone was kind and welcoming. We ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a wagyu sirloin that had a red wine reduction, crispy onions, potato gratin and garlic green beans. We also ordered two kids trays which were priced very fair at $9 for the options and amount of food received. Our kids had the fried chicken tenders, grilled steak and picked sides of fries, mashed potatoes and fruit. The kids trays also came with drinks. Since this was a birthday celebration or server did make it special by brining a sweet treat and candle and even discounted my meal! Some things to think about when planning a visit: The restaurant is very loud. Make a reservation! It is popular. Plan parking! The area is full of great restaurants so parking is tough. Unfortunately due to how busy it was, our waitress forgot our drink order and somehow our order did not go in for the food correctly as it took so much longer for us to get our food than everyone else. While normally we wouldn't mind the delay, with two young kiddos this was not ideal. Even after a lengthy trip to the playground, the food still hadn't come out. The regular pizza was gobbled up and loved. The gluten free pizza was decent but when it cooled down was a bit more rubbery as GF things tend to get. The GF bolognese was just okay - the sauce was less saucy and more meat clumpy and drowned in Parmesan as you can see from the picture. The pasta at least was cooked well. Overall, we would try it again but our initial experience did not live up to the hype.

The ribeye was a perfect medium rare but I wanted to highlight the demi-glace. It had such a pretty sheen that you want the glossy sauce to be. It made their Brussel sprouts a focal point for me. The atmosphere was great--elegant and classy. Exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant that won best steakhouse in Grand Rapids. The ambiance is chef's kiss and during the summer months I highly recommend sitting outside on the rooftop if the weather cooperates. The drinks were probably my favorite part of the experience. Everything we ordered was well made and the cocktail menu has plenty of options. The food was also very good. It's definitely a little pricier than some other spots, but the quality matches the price point. I ordered the shrimp and enjoyed it, but it packed a bit more heat than I was expecting. Unfortunately, we did have a badexperience during dinner. A random intoxicated guest came up to our table and touched my friend's face for absolutely no reason. It was rude, inappropriate, and completely uninvited. We were all pretty shocked and it definitely put a damper on the evening. What stood out to me was how the staff handled the situation. Our server was very apologetic, and the restaurant manager came over personally to check on us and apologize. She even comped my friend's drink, which I thought was incredibly kind and completely unnecessary but very much appreciated. At the end of the day, the actions of another guest were outside of the restaurant's control. What was in their control was how they responded, and I thought they handled the situation with professionalism and care. Great drinks, quality food, beautiful atmosphere, and a team that genuinely cares about its customers. I will definitely be back. 5/5 stars!

There was an hour wait for a table. They gave us a beeper. We couldn't grab a drink inside at the bar to escape the heat, so we found another restaurant where we snuck in a back door and ordered drinks at the bar. The beeper went off after an hour and we made the 5 minute walk back to the first restaurant. We ordered drinks and appetizers. It took about 1/2 hour to get our drinks. The appetizers came out about 10 minutes later. We decided to order a Margarita pizza with added pepperoni and mushrooms. It sounded simple enough. About an hour later, the Margarita pizza showed up without pepperoni or mushrooms. We asked the waiter to take the pizza back and have the kitchen add the missing ingredients. Silly us. We figured they throw the missing ingredients on the pizza, reheat it in the oven for 5 minutes and bring it back. A half hour later, we asked our waiter about our pizza. He seemed new and a bit overwhelmed. He went to check on it. We never heard back. 15 minutes later we asked again. Nothing. Finally, 2 hours after we ordered the pizza, the pizza arrives, accompanied by the manager. She is very apologetic. They had tossed the 1st pizza, but never remade it. She comped us the pizza and we each got a free dessert. The food was fine. It was your typical Southern Italian-American food, meatballs, pizza knots, and calamari. The pizza was good thin crust pizza. There was a ton of pepperoni. (Maybe that was to make up for the long wait?) and barely any mushrooms. I was fine with that. No one complained. So it's ordinary food at an affordable price. The choices are limited downtown.
