Jazz trio adding to the ambiance
    J W.

A charming relaxing lounge inside a jewel of the lively Grand Rapids' downtown. We were there to see the jazz trio led by Judah Guerra. It was lively on a Friday evening. Fortunately, for being in a mechanical wheelchair, we found the perfect lounge chairs to hear the band. The sound was perfect, not at high volume. It was elegant but more on the casual side. The staff was friendly & courteous.

To start, my drink was absolutely exquisite! I ordered their monthly feature. It was a cranberry elderflower spritz. The presentation was stellar and I had the chance to enjoy a live jazz band during my visit. The service was attentive and helpful. I can't wait for my next trip to the Rendezvous and hopefully another live band will be in the works!

I've been here a handful of times. I always get good service and great drinks. It's a classy place, but you feel welcome regardless.

We finished dinner a little early so my boyfriend and I stopped in to Rendezvous for a quick drink before seeing a show at DeVos. This newer bar in the Amway Grand is cozy and a little fancy, with comfortable chairs and lots of varied types of seating. We were greeted at the hostess stand and she told us we could take a seat anywhere. We opted for a seat on the curved bench which winds around one side of the bar. The menu consists mostly of drinks but they do offer a few small plates and snacks including charcuterie, flatbreads, and two sweet items. Drinks here are priced for the atmosphere and location, with cocktails ranging from $12-$15 for some basic specialty cocktails, $6-$8 for beer, and $11-$28 for a glass of wine. I ordered the Calor de la Pasion, which was pretty balanced but I was hoping for a lot more passionfruit flavor. It basically tasted like a margarita with a tiny bit of spice. I don't think it was worth $15 and probably wouldn't get it again. My boyfriend got the old fashioned which he enjoyed. We spent $33 for two drinks plus tip. Obviously we knew what we were getting into when we saw the menu, but the pricing seems high especially since they were pretty basic drinks. Service was quick, which was nice as we were on a schedule. I likely won't visit this bar again, but it was fun to check it out. I liked the atmosphere of the lounge space.

Really cool space and it has a classy hotel bar feel for sure, but the drinks were really expensive and not that good. The old fashioned I ordered I would have expected with a large ice cube or ball, instead it had crushed ice and was quickly watered down. It was just kind of a simple and boring version of the drink. It was pretty busy and the service was understandably slow, but if you are in a hurry that is something to keep in mind. I didn't try any food, so I can't speak to that. f I went back I'd give it a shot, and just stick to beer since it would be more consistent.

Terrible service. Bartender was stuck up when asking about different types of liquors. Made our party full of different ages and generations feel absolutely stupid and inferior. Drinks were okay, overpriced. For such a nice and classy space, and as someone who comes to the Amway a lot, this place is quite the letdown.

Many brands were local that I'd never heard of before, and it was fun to experiment and try new things. Their food menu honestly shocked me with how tasty everything was. For a board game bar, I usually expect food to take a back seat or be phoned in, but everything was delicious! I had to try the elote deviled eggs, which was a combo I had never considered but I'm so glad someone did! I also got the truffle mac and cheese and a house salad. Both were excellent! The board game selection was extensive, with old favorites and hidden gems. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be sure to stop in again!

You can order from a QR code on the table and the food is brought to your table. For dessert we ordered a cookie skillet. We had a good time at Hose Rules and highly recommend it.

The pistachio syrup was legit - there were actual pistachio chunks and no fake pistachio extract flavor. i definitely would have preferred my drink sweeter though. i was also impressed by the drink to ice ratio. so many iced drinks are mostly ice but this matcha was FULL and not overly diluted with milk. i really enjoyed the flavor of the matcha itself as well. my partner said he'd give his latte a 9.1 out of 10. unfortunately there do not seem to be any vegan food options so it will be drinks only for us.

The atmosphere was cool, and our server was super chill and friendly, which made us feel welcome right away. Service was a little on the slower side, but we were seated near the front on a Sunday night, so it's possible the restaurant was busier than it seemed. Either way, the food was well worth the wait. If you're looking for a place with great vibes and delicious food, this one is definitely worth checking out. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town!

The chronic fries are DELICIOUS, with a perfect hint of heat to make them more unique. Prices were pretty good for serving size. We can't wait to make our way back (& hopefully that's soon!)
