I was excited to see rumblings about a new cocktail bar on social media, so I decided to try to check it out before our dinner reservation at Trust next door. It was their grand opening, and it was pretty busy when we stopped by. Nate and I got a couple spots at the bar, but it's a small space. The menu is designed to look like a check which was cute (but also slightly confusing because there was a fake receipt stapled to it). Cocktails ranged from $14-$18, and they had some really interesting sounding ingredients. I love black sesame so I ordered the Tokyo Slide, which had black sesame listed as the second ingredient. Nate got the baller's paradise. Our drinks didn't take too long to make, and I enjoyed looking around at all the art displayed (most looked like it's for sale). My drink was like a mojito...? I didn't taste any black sesame at all- it's a pretty strong flavor profile, so that surprised me. It was very minty and refreshing, just not really at all what I was expecting. Shiso is listed as an ingredient, which is an herb in the mint family, but I thought it would be a more savory drink. Nate's cocktail was balanced and tasty, with negroni vibes. I would probably come back to try some other drinks and order food - they have a small plates menu from Trust next door that you can order from.

That said, it is pretty painless. You can sign up on the spot and the email with the code comes through within minutes, so it does not slow things down too much. They offer outdoor seating even in the winter, and while it is technically heated, you will still need a coat. It was cold enough that we chose to sit inside instead, but the interior was also chilly. Every time the door to the patio opened, a draft of cold air rushed in, which made the space feel colder than expected. The drinks are on the expensive side, but the quality mostly backs up the price. I ordered the Donna's Kiss and it was absolutely worth it, very well made and delicious. My friend had a Moscato that was sweet and easy to drink. We also ended up getting two free shots of tequila because they liked our vibes , which was a nice and unexpected bonus! Definitely a great move on their behalf because it just goes to show that the staff there were super welcoming and that makes me want to come back (probably when it's warmer!!).

Our server was very nice, she was busy but we didn't wait too long. No bar nuts - and as the only food on the menu I was disappointed because I'm starving. But it's no big deal. Happy to finally check this place out after walking by it SO many times and trying to figure out how to get here! Thank you to @emilyingrandrapids for the info!

I sat at the bar and was met with good but indifferent service. I stated with their take on a dirty martini, L'oro sporco, which was very well executed; the honey really balanced the brine. I order the bread, it was stale on the sides and crust but a day ago this would have been a well made foccacia. The whipped Gorgonzola was great. The octopus came next, it had a nice balance of acid, was well seasoned, but some octopus was very overcooked and rubbery. The gnocchi was soft and pillowy with great brown butter notes, however the guanciale was burnt to a crisp and affected the dish. The sauce and tapenade were great. Here's where they shined, the agnolotti - perfectly cooked pasta, nice acid, goat cheese and pea notes. The fried chips provided a really nice contrast to the pasta. The ramp pesto is delicious. The asparagus's and peas are flavorful and well cooked. I can't believe this came out of the same kitchen as the last pasta fish and bread. If they can fix a few easy cooking mistakes and have a more friendly front of house, Allora could be the top of the GR food scene.

The pistachio syrup was legit - there were actual pistachio chunks and no fake pistachio extract flavor. i definitely would have preferred my drink sweeter though. i was also impressed by the drink to ice ratio. so many iced drinks are mostly ice but this matcha was FULL and not overly diluted with milk. i really enjoyed the flavor of the matcha itself as well. my partner said he'd give his latte a 9.1 out of 10. unfortunately there do not seem to be any vegan food options so it will be drinks only for us.

They were quite busy with every seat filled and we still got very fast service.

Service was top notch from start to finish. Plates were cleared between each course, we were checked on often but not too much and felt super taken care of. The tart strawberry mocktail was one of the best I've ever had, refreshing and perfectly balanced. We started with the truffle arancini- it sits on top of a bed of black pepper aioli which was to die for. The gem salad was fresh- loved the addition of crispy prosciutto&mandarins. I had the double waygu burger with fries(highly recommend asking for a side of the black pepper aioli for your fries!!) while my husband had the hanger steak frites. Both were cooked perfectly and SO flavorful. We were stuffed, but had to finish with the tiramisu. It came in a chilled glass- so appreciate the attention to detail. I'll be thinking about this meal until I can come back for more!

Food is fresh, service is excellent and the ambiance is cool too. My waitress was on it with her recs! She helped me find a gin drink to my linking and talked up the scallops. I got them and loved it! Dishes were a bit garlicky, but I like garlic! The bed tartar was wonderful and I enjoyed how they "chunked" the meat instead of making it a mush. My friend got a steak on top of the gnocchi and really enjoyed it! Overall I think this restaurant is worth the hype and canto wait to dine here again! It's important to know that if you want to dine here, plan to reserve a table ahead or plan to wait for a table. They hold 50% of table s for walk ins. Parking DT is always a challenge and once they build the soccer stadium, I imagine it will be craziness. It just takes a bit of planning.
