Finally got a seat at the bar! This place is always packed. They take reservations but not for one person. Bar seating is first come first served so I went right after work and got there about 4:45. There were a ton of seats open at the bar. A friend met me at 5pm. We were seated with Fin, the bartender. He was awesome- very attentive but not overbearing. I could tell when he was coming by to peek in on us but he never interrupted our conversation. He would glance over and check our drinks and pause, and then keep moving. I'm sure if I was alone he would've provided me with some banter, he seems nice enough. He recommended a cocktail - The Last Word. I've had one before and this one did not disappoint. The other drinks I had were the espresso martini and the New York sour- both favorites of mine and done very well by Fin. I love that this bar uses frosty glasses for their cocktails. It's a nice touch. I had to have the Wagyu meatballs. They're mentioned in many reviews and people at work agreed they're a must have. My friend wasn't very hungry so I ate 5 out of the 6 haha. The bread that comes w it is a focaccia that is his divine! I thought it was deep fried but it's just soaked in oil and then heated on the griddle. The meatballs are Wagyu 75/25 so kinda fatty but so smooth. They are served with a marinara sauce and ricotta. So good. Would get this again. The menu looks awesome but we were just there for drinks and snacks. Next time I'll make a reservation (Resy) and have dinner. Parking is typically awful. No valet. Bathrooms are multi sex unistalls, clean. The restaurant is noisy- maybe not a great first date spot. Seemed to be a lot of well to do people in the restaurant, based on the outfits and accessories I saw. Might be a place to meet someone new if it wasn't so loud and incredibly busy. It's hard to get a table during dinner hours especially if the weather is perfect. But try your best to get in. They do take walk ins and it's worth an hour wait. read more

Valentine's Day menu special Truffle Arancini was so good they made it a full time menu item. Insane, new must-try appetizer if you're there. Everything else was consistent or better than usual. Filet mignon is always buttery soft and the potato gratin was done with less lumpier potatoes which made them even better than they were. Their asparagus with the feta cheese is also very good and asparagus cooked all the way through if you want to mix in a green. For dessert, the tiramisu in the chilled glass is a really good, refreshing way to finish off dinner. Have had most of the dessert options and think the tiramisu might top both the cheesecake and the chocolate cake. read more

This should absolutely be a 5 star rating. My expectations were high, perhaps too high. I went with 4 stars instead of 3 because there were still a number of good things about our experience. Even though their website says 50% of seating is available for walk-ins, a reservation is pretty much mandatory in my opinion. Ours was quickly honored and we were shown to a nice table. First impression-beautiful, well thought out design providing a very nice ambiance. We ordered drinks and our server's wine knowledge was impressive as my wife was totally enamored with our server's recommendation for her. While the ladies drank wine, my friend and I were impressed by the bourbon offerings and went in that direction. We ordered the Parker House Rolls and shrimp cocktail to get started. The rolls were amazing and while the shrimp wasn't "jumbo" as described, they had that nice "steaky" texture and flavor. Our orders were as follows: friends-filet mignon and cod. Ours-gnocchi bolognese and spaghetti ala vodka with added shrimp. Here's where things broke down. First to arrive was the cod. We told our friend not to let it get cold and start eating. The rest of our meals arrived approximately 4-5 minutes later. My wife's spaghetti wasn't even warm. A "roving manager" took her dish to warm up. It arrived back a few minutes later amazingly not much warmer. Also flavors were bland. She enjoys the flavors of "Ala vodka" pasta and these were nowhere to be seen. Also, the three of us were well into our meals despite efforts to go slow and wait. My wife ate about a third of her meal and asked for a box. The next day, she doctored it up a bit and had a nice lunch at home with the meal which should have been consumed the night before. My gnocchi was excellent as well as my friend's filet and cod. Evening could have been perfect had there been no kitchen miscues with poorly timed delivery and food at proper temperatures. We will possibly return at some point. read more

I visited Gin Gin with my husband to celebrate , and the welcome was very warm, which I truly appreciated. The atmosphere is cozy, lively, and full of people and conversations a great spot if you enjoy an energetic yet comfortable vibe. Definitely a fun spot. We ordered the salmon and the burger. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and delicious... just a bit on the petite side (not mad, just still hungry ). The salmon was tasty too, though slightly burnt. At first I thought it was a small mishap, but then my drink arrived with burnt strawberry notes, which made me realize this might be their signature "a little charred, a lot of confidence" style. I ordered the Strawberry Tart mocktail ,it was fine, but the flavors could use a bit more love and balance. Now for the plot twist: flexibility?. I asked to swap the asparagus for potatoes or rice or corn or green beans. Simple request, right? Nope. The options were asparagus... or cauliflower. That's it. End of story. Very "take it or leave it" energy. I ended up ordering a side of potato gratin just to survive, and was charged extra, even though asparagus costs more on thier menu. Math was not mathing. they did offer a complimentary birthday dessert , which sounded sweet until I realized it was limited to the cheapest item on the menu: ice cream. If I wanted any other dessert, I'd have to pay. I am not complaining, and since it is free..awsome and nice. But to be honest It felt a bit... limited.. to me. Most places let you choose your dessert when they're celebrating you. Think about it, if they offered one of the best items in the menu, i would be be now writing about it happily and advertising it for free in my reviews. had a lovely girl's night to celebrate my cousin's birthday at gin gin's! according to Resy, Gin Gin's reserves 50% of their tables for walk ins but you're able to make a reservation online for 1-6 guests. for 7-12 guests they let you know to call them to make a reservation. times fill up quickly so make sure to book in advance! parking can be a bit tricky too depending on what day and time you go since it is street parking and near other restaurants/bars. this was half of the table's first time here and everyone enjoyed their experience here. we decided to order a few different apps/entrees and do it family style so we were all able to try as much as possible. my favorites were the broccolini and the seared scallops. i was disappointed that there were no free bread/rolls since i feel like it's standard in most restaurants in this same category. i'm a sucker for bread so we did order the rolls. while they were good, i don't think i would pay for them again. the location is great too if you want to continue your night out since it's a turn away from Bridge Street! from the hand-drawn birthday card to the incredible service and to the delicious food, Gin Gin's takes care of you and your crew inside and out! i'll definitely be back to try more items! read more

Easily a five star review from me! I absolutely love this place. Each time I've been, I've enjoyed my entire experience from the drinks to the dessert. Sometimes getting a reservation can be trying but it's well worth the wait! The interior of this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. I love all the different textures and colors and vibes. I still haven't made it to eat out on their patio yet but it's just so gorgeous and I can't wait for that opportunity. Hopefully next time. One of my favorite drinks is a dirty martini and they offer theirs with blue cheese stuffed olives which is just soooo divine. Loved every appetizer I've eaten here and would definitely recommend the oysters and the wagyu meatballs. The Parker rolls are also delicious! The spaghetti is a favorite dish of mine but also the gnocchi and short rib ravioli for something in the pasta category. ALL of the steak I've consumed here has been sooooo delicious. I'm drooling a little bit now just thinking about it. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone just passing through GR, to anyone looking for a good date night spot, and or girls night. Lovely dining experience from arrival to departure. Eddie, our server, was fantastic - honest about menu items and had great suggestions, both food and wine. Was extremely friendly and patient with us deciding what to order and curated a great experience for us. We started with some delicious cocktails pre-dinner, accompanied by the tuna crudo and meatballs. The tuna crudo had a delicious vinaigrette, the whole dish was light and refreshing. The meatballs were excellent, rich and flavorful. For a main we split the crab lumache which was excellent. Creamy, crabby but not overly rich. Well balanced and light, delicious pasta. I've been wanting to come here for a while as we were recommended the place after admitting how much we loved Butcher's Union and knowing that this was a sister restaurant. I had to make reservation a few weeks in advance, though I think we could've gotten a table without them given that we were there on a Monday evening. We came to celebrate our anniversary, which we received a postcard on our table for. It may serve as a reminder for some of the staff to express their wishes. The atmosphere had a very similar vibe to Butcher's and they did take their Head Chef. It looks like there were some similar dishes. I did go for the ceviche because I did not remember seeing it on the other menu and I haven't had any in a minute. That was pretty simplistic, all fish and maybe more sushi like as opposed to more Latin inspired, in my opinion. It was tasty, but just not what I had envisioned when I think of a classic ceviche dish for my main dish I did go for the filet mignon and a couple of scallops. It was nice because I feel like you can make your own surf and turf. I also got the side of mashed potatoes and the crispy artichokes. I did ask for a side of au poivre/peppercorn sauce for the steak. It turned out to be ok. I actually liked the garlic butter sauce that it came with. I was worried that it would be more on the plain side and lack flavor, but it was not the case at all. I don't see artichokes on the menu often and so I feel like it's a must order dish because I do enjoy it so much and it was excellent. The tough thing for this meal was the highly recommended tiramisu which I love and I don't think that you can really mess it up, but I feel like they did. I had a few bites just to make sure that I might have just imagined what I was experiencing, but I felt like the Ladyfinger was just chewy and harder than I expected. It just felt wrong and it was disappointing. I mean the presentation of it was so pretty, and it reminded me of a tiramisu that I had in Italy. Desserts are my weakness and I normally would've eaten the whole thing but I just had like the three or four bites. It was really appreciative that they took it off the bill. Sadly, that was the last impression I got. Service was spectacular, Alison was great. I wanna say we would be back again, but I think we probably prefer Butcher's Union. read more

I really love the ambience. our server Michael was very enthusiastic about the food. it made us more happy that he was happy, especially knowing when we were happy being happy. The food was really good. A lot of steak options are American wagyu. Also the seafood is delicious. We got the halibut. I highly suggest the halibut a dessert was very good. My wife and I stopped in, what we thought was early, around 615pm on Saturday night. We knew they had no reservations available but we figured we could snag a couple at the bar relatively easy at that time of night...We were wrong...HOWEVER, the staff at Gin Gin's is beyond amazing, noticed we were waiting a while for a bar seat to open, and went out of their way to find us a couple open seats when they knew someone was leaving. I gawd beyond impressed by this. I know bar seating can be a crap shoot, but the staff knew we were waiting patiently and helped us snag a seat in the back bar which is more quiet and cozy. The drinks are excellent and the price is fair for a craft cocktail at around $14.50. We got two bowls of clam chowder, a crab pasta, and the salmon entree. The food was very flavorful and priced right for a more upscale restaurant. I would probably go back to try the double wagyu burger because it looked so delicious but I wasn't in the mood for a burger that night. The food and drinks were excellent but the highlight of the night was the friendly and very attentive staff and bartenders! read more

I finally got around to trying Gin Gin's after it's been open for about a year (I think). I love the interior--green, earthy, tasteful decor--you could dress up or dress casually and still feel comfortable here. We started at the bar while we waited for a table to be ready; I had an espresso martini which was nice because the glass was frosty cold. We shared a small gem salad, french fries with garlic aioli, and the halibut ceviche. I think the ceviche rotates on the menu, but it was amazing! A tiny bit of heat/spice, and the fish was very fresh tasting. The salad and fries paired really well together for a start to the meal. We sat outside, which was a little too sunny in some parts but overall it was pleasant and not very loud. We shared the 16 oz Delmonico steak, which was a little bit too fatty and undercooked for me (I ordered medium rare and it was slightly pushing rare), the crab lumache pasta, which was delicious and almost like a fancier crab mac & cheese, and the asparagus with whipped feta, which was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was accommodating and attentive; for example, they didn't have the wine I ordered but offered a nice alternative, and she recommended a side of focaccia bread to soak up the pasta sauce--highly recommend! The restaurant is so beautiful with one side having a dark wood warm feel and the other side being bright with lots of windows and an amazing outdoor seating area with lots of greenery. The staff is all so friendly and knowledgable. The food is spectacular. I have had many things but my hands down favorite is their homemade spaghetti with wagyu steak. We had one of the best meals we've ever had. I told my husband that if I'm ever offered a last meal, it has to be from here. I truly believe the secret lies in the incredible freshness of the food. Now, to the food -- we ordered the gem salad, halibut, and ribeye. Each dish was bursting with flavor and perfectly balanced. The ribeye, while delicious, was just slightly less tender than I typically expect from that cut. That said, considering the very reasonable prices, I would absolutely order it again without hesitation. We were visiting friends & family in Grand Rapids and decided to try out this local favorite for dinner. It was clearly the place to be--very busy, but we had a reservation and got seated right away. I had the seared sea scallops with risotto. It was a little salty, but still tasty and beautifully plated. My husband went for the ribeye steak with a side of mac & cheese--both were a hit! The ambience was dim-lit with a strong focus on the bar. It felt cozy and upscale, but it did get pretty loud inside, especially at our larger table of seven. During our dinner, they dimmed the lights even more--so much so that everyone at our table commented on how dark it suddenly got. Another great meal at Gin Gins! We stopping in for my birthday during the week and it was pretty busy for a weeknight. Super cozy atmosphere for a fall night. Gin Gin's has been super popular since they opened in May 2024, so I was excited to go back again last month. My friend got a reservation and the place was packed when I arrived - they do reserve 50% of their capacity for walk-ins, but wait times can still be quite long. We were seated in a dark cozy spot tucked away, which gave us time to catch up and chat. And chat we did! Our server was so great about checking in on us the perfect amount as we were just gabbing. When we finally ordered we got a bunch of sides: the asparagus, gem salad, and potatoes au gratin. I chose the 45 day dry-aged New York strip and my friend got the shrimp scampi. My friend has some dietary restrictions and they were super great about accommodating her needs. I love the gem salad - it's so fresh and unique with the grapefruit and very delicious. I got the small size which was a perfect starter salad size. The sides were both tasty - I love their asparagus, which is nicely grilled and comes with whipped feta. I took a bit of a risk with the NY strip - our server mentioned that it's a "firmer" bite than some people are used to, and I appreciated the heads up. I typically get a filet, so it was definitely a different experience. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely, it just wasn't my favorite cut. I was pretty full, but we decided to share some desserts - the cheesecake and the black cherry sundae. I'd had the cheesecake before, and it was just as good as I remembered. I loved the black cherry ice cream (a childhood favorite) as well. Glad I got to revisit Gin Gin's and look forward to the next time I can have a meal there! read more

I've been to Gin Gin's twice now and every time we've had a great experience! The first time I went with a friend on a Friday night. I definitely recommend snagging a reservation if you can, as we had a two hour wait (not a huge deal for us, but if you're in a time crunch then definitely make a reservation). Once our table was ready, our server was super sweet and kind and took the time to go over the menu with us. We both ordered drinks (I got the bees knees), which were super delicious! I ended up getting the wagyu burger with fries and the garlic aioli! It was super good and flavorful. The second time I went with my siblings for a birthday dinner and once again, I was blown away by how kind and sweet our server was! We had a great time ordering drinks and all of our entrees were delicious! They also gave us a free complimentary birthday dessert, which was super nice as well! Headed to Gin Gins on a Saturday night to try out luck at walk in since they were booked out on Resy. We got there at about 6 and we're able to put ourselves on the waitlist, with an estimated seating time at about 8:15pm. We headed around the corner to BU to try our luck at bar seating to grab a few drinks while we waited, and we lucked out! We hung out at BU until we got a text that our table was about ready. Actual seating time ended up being around 8:30/8:45, which wasn't bad. We started with crab cakes and wedge salad. The crab cakes were flat like patties, and were delicious! The outside was crispy, and the inside was all crab meat! It paired perfectly with the two aiolis that they gave us. The crab cakes weren't oily and they were moist, which we really appreciated! For the wedge salad, it came as two small wedges. My husband said he preferred a larger wedge, but I actually liked these smaller wedges as they were easier to cut and eat. For entrees, my husband got the Cavatelli and added the wagyu hanger steak. The steak was perfectly medium rare and very soft, and paired perfectly with the pasta. I myself got the potato gnocchi after my SIL brought it home one time and my other SIL ate it all; I was very excited to be able to have a whole plate to myself, HA! If you're a truffle flavor lover, then this dish is for you! The gnocchi wasn't super sticky or mushy, and the king trumpet mushrooms held the sauce flavor really well. For drinks, I got the plum highball, and my husband got a bottle of red wine to pair with his steak/pasta. I headed here with a reservation, I'd popped in a couple of times before but there was always a long wait! The vibe feels like a modern take on a classic steakhouse. Low lighting, lots of wood and beautiful tiles. There is a long cocktail list filled with the classic drinks that you'd expect at a steakhouse. They have several martinis on the menu and even a few NA options. To start, I ordered the burrata. It is served with toasted focaccia. This was a pretty mild flavor with strawberry, nuts and mint. I also got the shrimp cocktail and it was delicious! The cocktail sauce is an excellent balance of sweet and sharp. I ordered the swordfish for my main and the corn risotto that it say upon was the star. It was served with a cilantro pesto thag perfectly balanced the creamy risotto. The fish was good, and held up next to the green onions and pesto well. For dessert I got the black cherry Sundae. It includes a thick chocolate sauce over black berry ice cream with crispy peanuts and whipped cream. It was a great balance of sweet, crunchy and tart. The dessert menu had several other good looking options - a brownie and a cheesecake both caught my eye! Edward was our server and did an absolutely lovely job. Stopped in on a Thursday around 6:30 and the place was popping. No reservations but we were lucky enough to snag a couple seats at the bar. The vibe in Gin Gins is awesome. We loved the atmosphere. At the bar we had three bartenders who were friendly and quick to take our drink orders. I started with the Bees knees- so good! It was easy to drink but maybe stronger than I thought. My fiancé got a beer and we decided on oysters to start. We loved the rosé mignonette sauce. We agreed it was the best we have had. From there we did the wedge salad, fries, asparagus, and shared the ribeye. I have to say this was one of my favorite meals I've had out in a very long time. Steak was perfectly cooked medium rare/rare, fries were crispy and salty, and asparagus was roasted to perfection. If and when we visit again- I might just have to order the same things. read more

Went out for a birthday dinner. Ordered steak, pasta, and a side of fries. All were super good. Pasta is homemade and a big portion. We each had two cocktails that were great. Our server was very knowledgeable and personable. Restaurant itself was a very cute environment. Open kitchen concept so you can see chefs at work. They gave us a free sundae as a birthday gift which was very thoughtful. We really enjoyed our time there! read more
