Came to one of our favorite restaurants for our 27th wedding anniversary. Every meal at Leo's is perfect. The service is consistent, friendly and timely. Conversation with the staff comes so easily. And the food and drink are always delicious. Over the course of the night, we enjoyed the Seafood Cake Duet as our appetizer. Between the two cakes, the shrimp and lobster was definitely our favorite. The cocktails included the 60 Ottawa Old Fashioned, the Femme Fatale and the Cast Away. The old-fashioned was perfectly balanced. My wife loved the other two cocktails, especially the Cast Away. That one in particular was dangerously smooth. It wasn't my first time having the Halibut "oscar style", but I'm a creature of habit and it's hard to pass up. It always tastes fresh, is a milder fish and paired well on the plate with a nicely seasoned rice blend, asparagus and covered in a delightful bearnaise sauce. The wife had the Kvaroy Salmon which she very much enjoyed, but didn't come close to finishing. The brussel sprouts were cooked just right and the balsamic reduction wasn't overpowering, but instead just that right amount of savory. Leo's seems to change up their desserts fairly often, but frequently offer a crème brûlée. We opted for the vanilla bean this time and in hindsight, wish we would've each ordered our own instead of sharing. read more

From the time we walked in the doors until the time we walked out, every single person we encountered went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable evening. We were greeted with warm welcomes and a handwritten postcard wishing us a "Happy 7th Anniversary," which was such a thoughtful touch. We were seated at a high-top table, just as requested, on the more casual side of the restaurant. Even that side felt elegant and classy. Our server was outstanding--extremely knowledgeable about the spirit-free menu (neither of us drinks alcohol) and full of great recommendations. Every drink we ordered was fantastic. The bread service was perfect. The bread arrived warm, and the butter was so soft it practically melted as you spread it. Then came the entrées. My wife ordered the filet mignon and substituted green beans for the asparagus without any issue. The steak was cooked perfectly, the mashed potatoes were buttery, smooth, and delicious, and the green beans were crisp and flavorful. (I know because I happily helped finish everything!) I ordered the Seared Sea Scallop Risotto, and it was one of the best dishes I've ever had. The scallops were perfectly cooked--tender, buttery, and absolutely melt-in-your-mouth--with none of the fishiness some scallops can have. The sweet corn in the risotto added just the right touch of sweetness to balance the richness of the dish. As if that wasn't enough, we were surprised with a complimentary celebration dessert: a dark chocolate brownie sundae topped with ice cream and whipped cream. Simple, delicious, and the perfect ending to a wonderful anniversary dinner. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, I can't recommend Leo's highly enough. We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner on a Saturday night during a holiday weekend . The place was busy . We had a reservation and received a text on our way in that our table was ready , they added a nice touch with an anniversary placard at the table . Dinner wasn't rushed yet service was attentive , drinks were well crafted , wine list very well curated . We enjoyed Lobster pasta and Cajun seafood dish , very nice menu making it was hard to choose . Dessert was a chocolate cheesecake covered in cherries . This was a great seafood spot a group of us from work visited near the end of a long week. We started with cocktails and then moved on to a selection of wines by the glass. The menu for both was extensive. Several appetizers, soups, and salads were enjoyed. The seafood cake duo (one crab and one lobster), along with the soup trio (clam chowder, lobster bisque, and soup of the day, which was a sirloin tip and bean variety) were my favorites. All entrees were huge. I enjoyed the Chilean sea bass, which was amazing. The halibut, and a few different steaks also received rave reviews. One didn't care for their branzino. Not sure why, as I tasted it and thought it was fine. The waiter, without asking, took it off the bill. We didn't get dessert, as we were stuffed. However, we saw several that looked great. The service was excellent and the food was good but the temperature in the dining room must have reached 80 degrees the evening we were there for dinner. We asked our waitress if there was an issue with the air conditioning and she explained that unfortunately the dining room was often warm on busy summer evening. It is not fun to get dressed up and drip onto your plate! I will never go back there! Terrible experience. If you want to charge the prices you charge ... fine! First, we came here because they offer Whole Main Lobsters which a lot of places do not. Second, they also worked will with my Allium Allergy. Came for our Anniversary dinner. The Tuna Appetizer is longer could have because it is Pre- crusted. Obviously the Lobster was a no go. I ordered the Surf and Turf. The Lobster Tail was terrible, overcooked and dry. So was my Filet. At our reservation time, we were seated in the dining room and began studying the menu. The halibut was served "Oscar" style and as we both love halibut, that is what we both ordered instead of each us ordering something different and splitting it. I thought the halibut was pretty good but did not care for the sauce. The crabmeat didn't have the taste or texture I'm accustomed to so the "wow" factor was out the window. This was a wonderful dining experience in Grand Rapids! Reservations are highly recommended and easily made on their website. The restaurant was just a short walk from my hotel! I was seated in a lovely booth as soon as I arrived, and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. I love the little touches taking away used cutlery and replacing it with fresh cutlery and removing crumbs from the table before serving the next course. The interior is quite contemporary but a bit open particularly if you're seated at a table which does not afford much privacy. I enjoyed a lovely pear martini which was strong, tasty, ice cold, and beautifully presented. I had the seafood cakes duet (lobster and crab) as a starter at my server's recommendation. Great choice! Fresh, delicious, and tasty with a wonderful mix of flavors and textures. I followed this with a fairly standard but still tasty Caesar salad and some fairly simple bread from the complimentary basket. I was a bit adventurous and had the pretzel crusted walleye for an entree. I am not always a huge fish person, but this was quite mild. I loved the crunchy pretzel crust! Save room for dessert and check out the enticing dessert tray. I love when restaurants present desserts this way as I think it adds a touch of elegance. I tried the peanut butter pie which was decadently delicious with a wonderful mix of chocolate and peanut butter topped with a peanut butter cup. Overall, this was truly a lovely dining experience! Leo's happy hour is fire. I've had dinner here in the past, but tonight we came for serious snacking and drinking. We started with red wine and finished with the spritz, made with Aperol and Saint Germain (two of my favorites). Both were absolutely delicious and modestly priced at $8 each for happy hour. We tried the escargot dip and calamari, and honestly, they were unmatched. The calamari was perfectly flash-fried, the garlic lemon aioli omg! The escargot dip with puff pastry, veggies, and goat cheese was so rich and flavorful. The vibe was romantic and quiet, and the service was lovely as always. Even the bathroom was adorable and stocked with thoughtful extras like mouthwash and feminine products--we love a nice touch. Is this an every-week or even every-month spot for me? Probably not. We've been to some incredible steak/seafood houses and this restaurant is top of the list! The appetizers, the bread, the entrees, the desserts!!! The prices are incredible considering the experience and delicious food! You get incredible portions that were so filling and they only serve fresh food! It's never frozen! It arrives to their facility within 24 hours of being pulled from the ocean/lake! I had the Chilean Sea Bass for the first time ever and it was absolutely incredible! This is my second time dining at Leo's. It is my go to restaurant when in town. I've never had a bad meal or service when dining with them. The staff goes above and beyond, which is uncommon these days. I had the lobster bisque and the shrimp and crab risotto. Both were to die for! Came here for a work dinner in June 2024. Walking in the restaurant is open and inviting. We were taken to our table right away. The restaurant wasn't too busy but it took a few minutes for our server to greet us. We ordered an assortment of appetizers, plus our entrées and then split desert. We've been going to Leos for many years and it never disapointed, until our last time we ate there for Mothers Day. I called the day before and asked if there was a ything available a little later than our 11:15 reservation because we were working around a babys schedule. The girl on the phone said there wasn't and also there wasn't a reservation at all in my name. I told her the restaurant had called me about a week ago and had confirmed the reservation. She said nope nothing in my name not even the last name at all. I called back a little while later and asked to talk to the manager. After a long pause the manager came on and said I did have a reservation. There was no explanation or apology, in fact she was rather rude. We had an absolutely amazing experience from beginning to end. We went for a client dinner with a group of 10 people. Our table was ready a little bit early, and it was very nice to be able to have our coats checked. The service was completely on point, there were a couple of issues with a few things, that were resolved immediately! We sampled quite a few appetizers including the calamari, shrimp cocktail, and meatball. A good amount of us ordered the surf and turf, which was filet and lobster tail. The steaks were cooked perfectly, the individual warmed butter was an absolute bonus. Their house mashed potatoes are delicious, and the asparagus was also cooked perfectly. They greeted us with "Happy Birthday", checked our coats and seated us right away. We started with adult beverages. The drink menu was holiday/winter themed (fun!) we had the goat cheese salad & Lobster Bisque for appetizers. Chilean Sea Bass and Branzino were our entrees. We love this restaurant! Both times that we have went, we made reservations for 7pm. You could most likely get in without one, but we like to play it safe. Parking is attached to the building via a garage. The hosts, waitresses, and managers have always been very nice. They explain feature dishes thoroughly, and food always comes out in a timely manner. The portions are very generous. While the restaurant is on the pricier side, the appetizers and drinks are worth the cost. Our favorites are the Blonde Italian cocktail and the scallops. Dishes on the menu change frequently, but we have been able to find something we like each time. Also, desserts are always so delicious! The restaurant and bathrooms look amazing. SO DISAPPOINTED.........This has been my favorite restaurant of all time but things have obviously changed. We were seated right away and served water. When the waitress came she was very friendly and knowledgeable about menu items. My husband ordered encrusted walleye and I ordered Scallop Risotto. When the entree arrived, they put down a plate that was more like a large serving bowl. The scallops were definitely not pan seared, no beautiful crust on the outside as they were sitting on top of the Risotto and there was some liquid half way up the side of the dish and a fish smell so strong it smacked you in the face the minute it was put down. When the waiter who put the dish down, not our actual waitress asked me if I wanted grated cheese on top I asked him what that liquid was surrounding my plate, he said he had no idea, began to walk away and then came back and took my plate and said he would find out. Meanwhile my husband is enjoying his meal and I'm sitting there waiting for someone to come back and address my issue. More than 10 min later the manager comes to me and says "I understand you want to order something else". I told him no I wanted to know what was on my scallop dish which I'm sure you looked at and saw it floating in some liquid and was very smelly. He acknowledged that it should not have that liquid and that scallops have a stronger fishy smell. I had to quickly correct him that fresh scallops do not stink. He asked if I wanted something else and suggested the scallops and salmon and that it was delicious and I said absolutely not. I asked if I could get a 6oz filet rare at which time he said yes and cooking it that way would not take long and it would be right out. Almost 30 min later and my husband is done eating his meal my meal arrives, the manager sets it down and asks me to cut into it and make sure it's to my liking which it was rare and he walked away. I began to eat, Although the steak was cooked rare it had no flavor what so ever and the demi glaze they used was terrible, like they made it from a package mix and not fresh. It was like a thick brown gravy that had a strong strange flavor. The mashed potatoes were very thick like they added flour to them and they stuck to the roof of your mouth. The only thing enjoyable on the plate was the asparagus. Now if the manager would have come back to ask about the meal I would have told him but he did not come back to ask. Our regular waitress never came back either to ask until the end and just said the scallop dish should not have looked like that. The desserts we had were ok but NOT worth the price at all. When we got the check they took off the scallops but did not even offer anything towards me having to wait Almost 30 min for a rare 6oz filet or an apology. Now my once favorite place has slipped in quality and service I will have to find a NEW favorite place. This whole experience makes me so sad. If the female manager that used to be there was there this experience would never have happened. read more

I was out doing a visit to one of our vendors and they invited me to dinner. They know I am a big food guy so they set up dinner at Leo's. all of the servers were on top of there game and did a fantastic job with good drinks and all around just very nice and friendly. Now for the food. I love Calamari but it is always a crap shoot if it is going to be good or is it going to be a plate of rubber bands. I will say if you are looking for GREAT Calamari you need to stop in and order the appetizer. great flavor and malted in your mouth. Along with the Calamari we had the Seafood cake duet. Lump crab in one and scrimp and lobster in the other with a side sauce with just the right amount of heat. My main course was a chef special Scallop with an orange and ginger sauce.
