Toasting our wedding anniversary with yummy Bellinis.

My husband and I traveled two hours to Grand Rapids to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary at Leo's and then on to the GR Art Museum just around the corner. We were knocked out by the exceptionally delicious food and drink. We started with Bellinis, then Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Grilled Branzino. Perfection! Also, the service was outstanding. We received a sweet Happy Anniversary card from the hostesses and our waiter was a gem. We had never been to Grand Rapids, but Leo's has inspired us to come back soon!

A review- with pictures this time! Recommend to all. Stunning, delicious food. I get calamari every time I go, and the lavender margarita if they have it. Something for everyone. Service is always the best. Quiet, private, upscale vibes. Best pastry chef in the city. Absolutely love!

We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner on a Saturday night during a holiday weekend . The place was busy . We had a reservation and received a text on our way in that our table was ready , they added a nice touch with an anniversary placard at the table . Dinner wasn't rushed yet service was attentive , drinks were well crafted , wine list very well curated . We enjoyed Lobster pasta and Cajun seafood dish , very nice menu making it was hard to choose . Dessert was a chocolate cheesecake covered in cherries . The only complaint is the dining room is a bit bright and just doesn't have a high end feel . The food and service make up for that , truly a great dinner

Seafood cake duet

This was a great seafood spot a group of us from work visited near the end of a long week. We started with cocktails and then moved on to a selection of wines by the glass. The menu for both was extensive. Several appetizers, soups, and salads were enjoyed. The seafood cake duo (one crab and one lobster), along with the soup trio (clam chowder, lobster bisque, and soup of the day, which was a sirloin tip and bean variety) were my favorites. All entrees were huge. I enjoyed the Chilean sea bass, which was amazing. The halibut, and a few different steaks also received rave reviews. One didn't care for their branzino. Not sure why, as I tasted it and thought it was fine. The waiter, without asking, took it off the bill. We didn't get dessert, as we were stuffed. However, we saw several that looked great. Service was friendly, informative, and around when we needed it. I'd definitely go back.

Drinks

Leo's is fantastic. From the moment we walked in, the experience was exceptional. We were greeted with warm welcomes and a handwritten postcard wishing us a "Happy 7th Anniversary," which was such a thoughtful touch. We were seated at a high-top table, just as requested, on the more casual side of the restaurant. Even that side felt elegant and classy. Our server was outstanding--extremely knowledgeable about the spirit-free menu (neither of us drinks alcohol) and full of great recommendations. Every drink we ordered was fantastic. The bread service was perfect. The bread arrived warm, and the butter was so soft it practically melted as you spread it. Then came the entrées. My wife ordered the filet mignon and substituted green beans for the asparagus without any issue. The steak was cooked perfectly, the mashed potatoes were buttery, smooth, and delicious, and the green beans were crisp and flavorful. (I know because I happily helped finish everything!) I ordered the Seared Sea Scallop Risotto, and it was one of the best dishes I've ever had. The scallops were perfectly cooked--tender, buttery, and absolutely melt-in-your-mouth--with none of the fishiness some scallops can have. The sweet corn in the risotto added just the right touch of sweetness to balance the richness of the dish. As if that wasn't enough, we were surprised with a complimentary celebration dessert: a dark chocolate brownie sundae topped with ice cream and whipped cream. Simple, delicious, and the perfect ending to a wonderful anniversary dinner. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, I can't recommend Leo's highly enough. It's the best dining experience we've had in Grand Rapids. If I could give it 10 out of 5 stars, I would.

Leo's will always be one of my favorites. From the atmosphere to the food. Best lobster I've ever had on a surf & turf. Can't wait to come back!

Supposed to be Medium Rare. Worst Steak. Not worth the $70

I'm so sad to be writing this. What once was our go to restaurant for my birthday and our Anniversary is no more. First, we came here because they offer Whole Main Lobsters which a lot of places do not. Second, they also worked will with my Allium Allergy. Came for our Anniversary dinner. The Tuna Appetizer is longer could have because it is Pre- crusted. Obviously the Lobster was a no go. I ordered the Surf and Turf. The Lobster Tail was terrible, overcooked and dry. So was my Filet. The server who was great ask night asked how everything was. I told her to which she says "sorry" then walked away. My husband ordered the Tortellini. It was half the size of last year. I wanted to honestly cry I was so disappointed. We will not be back.

Halibut "Oscar" style
Mike B.

We haven't been to Leo's in a while and with an anniversary milestone approaching, we thought this would be the perfect place to go. Since we arrived a bit early for our reservation, we decided to have a few drinks and appetizers in the bar as it was "Happy Hour". We enjoyed a couple of glass of wine and some calamari. At our reservation time, we were seated in the dining room and began studying the menu. The halibut was served "Oscar" style and as we both love halibut, that is what we both ordered instead of each us ordering something different and splitting it. I thought the halibut was pretty good but did not care for the sauce. The crabmeat didn't have the taste or texture I'm accustomed to so the "wow" factor was out the window. Service was what you would expect-excellent. Everything was "decent" but at these price points, I probably wouldn't come back.

A house favorite by our awesome waiter....Swordfish, along with a perfect "Old Fashion" at our board conference in Grand Rapids, MI

Everything was perfect! Very comfortable atmosphere! Great service. It was a dinner board meeting. So cozy!

This was a wonderful dining experience in Grand Rapids! Reservations are highly recommended and easily made on their website. The restaurant was just a short walk from my hotel! I was seated in a lovely booth as soon as I arrived, and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. I love the little touches taking away used cutlery and replacing it with fresh cutlery and removing crumbs from the table before serving the next course. The interior is quite contemporary but a bit open particularly if you're seated at a table which does not afford much privacy. I enjoyed a lovely pear martini which was strong, tasty, ice cold, and beautifully presented. I had the seafood cakes duet (lobster and crab) as a starter at my server's recommendation. Great choice! Fresh, delicious, and tasty with a wonderful mix of flavors and textures. I followed this with a fairly standard but still tasty Caesar salad and some fairly simple bread from the complimentary basket. I was a bit adventurous and had the pretzel crusted walleye for an entree. I am not always a huge fish person, but this was quite mild. I loved the crunchy pretzel crust! Save room for dessert and check out the enticing dessert tray. I love when restaurants present desserts this way as I think it adds a touch of elegance. I tried the peanut butter pie which was decadently delicious with a wonderful mix of chocolate and peanut butter topped with a peanut butter cup. Overall, this was truly a lovely dining experience! I would definitely return should my travels take me back to Grand Rapids.

Leo's happy hour is fire. I've had dinner here in the past, but tonight we came for serious snacking and drinking. We started with red wine and finished with the spritz, made with Aperol and Saint Germain (two of my favorites). Both were absolutely delicious and modestly priced at $8 each for happy hour. We tried the escargot dip and calamari, and honestly, they were unmatched. The calamari was perfectly flash-fried, the garlic lemon aioli omg! The escargot dip with puff pastry, veggies, and goat cheese was so rich and flavorful. The vibe was romantic and quiet, and the service was lovely as always. Even the bathroom was adorable and stocked with thoughtful extras like mouthwash and feminine products--we love a nice touch. Is this an every-week or even every-month spot for me? Probably not. But I've never had a bad time here, and it's always worth the visit.

An experience from the entrance. Large welcoming and luxurious feel as you walk in the doors. White table linen and clever design help to create tired eating spaces. We were greeted by our friends already seated and had a fantastic meal together. Food was lovely and it was a fabulous meal.

Are reservations recommended for a Monday evening?

I always eat in the bar dining area without reservations but if there is an event downtown (concert, trade show, etc) I would call to make sure

Do they have parking?

I am not sure if they have their own private lot. e parked outside on street parking, There was a parking garage, I thought it was kinda price, so I looked until we found one.

The service was exceptional from start to finish. Everyone was kind and welcoming. We ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a wagyu sirloin that had a red wine reduction, crispy onions, potato gratin and garlic green beans. We also ordered two kids trays which were priced very fair at $9 for the options and amount of food received. Our kids had the fried chicken tenders, grilled steak and picked sides of fries, mashed potatoes and fruit. The kids trays also came with drinks. Since this was a birthday celebration or server did make it special by brining a sweet treat and candle and even discounted my meal! Some things to think about when planning a visit: The restaurant is very loud. Make a reservation! It is popular. Plan parking! The area is full of great restaurants so parking is tough. I thought an old fashioned was an old fashioned, but this one was delicious and available for happy hour, can't beat that! Then at the bartenders recommendation, I had the meatballs for appetizer and the hangar steak for entree. First, the meatballs, very good, I'd give it a 4/5 minimum. Portion was very respectable, meant for a shareable appetizer but it was just me lol. The ricotta is a delicious touch. Then the hangar steak. It's the best steak I can remember having in a long time, and on a relatively inexpensive cut such as a hangar. I just can't express enough how impressed I was with it. And I'm not a sauce with steak type but the aioli just completes it so well. 5/5, and I'm pretty picky. If I come back to Grand Rapids I will visit here at least once.

I was surprised at how long it took for the 2 hosts to greet us - as we were standing directly in front of them. They were talking to one another, and it was probably work related, but to just stand there staring at them for a couple minutes while they ignored us was awkward. When they finally talked to us they weren't very friendly. Anyway, we made our way to the bar and it was full except for 3 seats. I think the bartender waiting on us was new. He seemed like he was pretty overwhelmed/in the weeds. He greeted us quickly and brought us waters when he did, which I appreciated. I ordered a Blackeberry Bourbon Sour and my Mr had Paloma Nuestra. We both enjoyed our drinks they were refreshing and well crafted. For dinner I had a really hard time deciding! I wanted to try so many things! Our bartender said his favorite thing in the menu is the chicken and rice bowl. That was something I was considering and decided to go with that. Excellent recommendation! The chicken was flavorful and so tender. The hot peppers were a nice touch. There was a lot of food too! I couldn't finish it all. Mr had the hanger steak that was served with mushroom and asparagus risotto. He said the risotto was the best he's ever had, and I agree. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and so was the steak. The space is really nice, felt intimate without being overcrowded. We are looking forward to coming back!

I'm sad I was only in town for one night because I was forced to pick just one item. I decided on the Short Rib Ragu Gnocchi. It was a good choice, but everybody's meals looked great. We had 8 at a table and our server did an excellent job engaging with everyone, getting our drinks out in a timely manner and serving us all at the same time. I tried someone else's Salmon and it was delicious also. 2 people got the hanger steak and gave it 5 stars. The prices were reasonable given the quality, freshness and presentation of our dinners. We got there just before happy hour ended and our server was nice enough to clue us in and we got a few appetizers and drinks before the prices went up. Definitely go if you get a chance. TerraGR: Some Great Dishes, But Overall a Major Disappointment…read more We drove about two hours to see a show and had pretty high expectations after seeing all the glowing reviews. Unfortunately, TerraGR didn't come close to living up to them. The Focaccia ($8) was probably the best thing we had all night. It came highly recommended in previous reviews, and I can see why. The pesto, 'nduja butter, and truffle pecorino worked really well together. At $8, it's a great value and an easy recommendation. Definitely a must-have. The Arancini ($15) were probably our second favorite. Very tasty, with a great gooey cheese center. The Calabrian chili oil, fried basil, hot honey, lemon zest, and ricotta salata all worked well together. Definitely recommend. The Pesto Casarecce ($25) was a completely different story. We honestly questioned the concept of this dish. The combination of pesto cream, fennel sausage, peas, garlic breadcrumbs, and Parmesan was just baffling to us. We ate maybe half of the dish and simply didn't want any more. The Scallops ($34) were disappointing as well. I skipped the jalapeño, and while the scallops themselves were cooked very well, the roasted corn, poblano, and chorizo mixture was cold. That was just a strange combination and really took away from the dish. I think it would be significantly better if that component were served warm. I did bite into several pieces of rock-hard chunks of something in the dish. My guess is chorizo which was extremely off-putting. The scallops were also a little too salty. At $34, the price felt excessive for what was served. The Short Rib Gnocchi ($28) was actually very good. The short rib ragu, potato gnocchi, and truffle pecorino worked really well together. Would recommend. The Brix soda was another head-scratcher. Just why? We didn't enjoy it at all. I understand it's local but just no. And then there was the Spiced Cranberry Martini. Unless you like unusual, heavy spice flavors that remind you of Jägermeister, do not order this. It was by far the worst martini I've ever had. I even mentioned to our waitress that I thought it was awful, and there was zero response. Service itself was fine. We were seated immediately, and the food came out promptly and at good temperatures. Our waitress wasn't particularly memorable, though, and I would have expected at least some acknowledgment when I mentioned how bad the cocktail was. The parking situation was also an absolute nightmare, which didn't exactly get the evening off to a great start. Overall, the appetizers were head and shoulders above the mains. The focaccia and arancini were genuinely excellent, and the short rib gnocchi was good. But we would not order the scallops or Pesto Casarecce again. Sadly, we were very disappointed with the overall experience. We came in with high expectations because of the near-perfect reviews, drove two hours for the evening, and ultimately felt that TerraGR was very overrated. There were definitely some good dishes, but the overall experience simply didn't live up to the hype. We did get to sit outside which was great.

The saving grace of breakfast were the breakfast potatoes which were delicious and the only thing we cleaned our plates of. There was no music playing when we first got there so the vibes were weird but eventually they put some on, we were sat nearish the bathroom which had a certain smell and was pretty unkempt (trash can overflowing, paper towel bits all on the floor) for so early in the morning.
