We had a reservation for 7:30 but was told to wait. We were seated at about 8. It is Artprize, so it was very busy! Good for the restaurant!! The wagyu burger was a bit crispier than expected but the fries were perfection! I did have to use my own purse salt as there wasn't any on them nor any at the table.
Dinner was so good we came back for brunch the next morning. We shared 3 of the "Smaller Plates": salmon ceviche (5/5): great balance and flavor; rabbit terrine (4/5): pork sausage, couldn't really taste the rabbit. Mild summer peppers (5/5) were hand-picked from the farmer's market, and I was warned that a hot one might have slipped by (I said: I sure hope so!) and one did. Was grateful for the bread from the rabbit terrine, which is their house-baked sourdough. Full bar but not many beers, mostly lagers. One IPA which was a hazy from Ann Arbor and was great though. For brunch the next day we split the Chicken Katsu Hash (5/5) and added 2 more eggs. If we weren't traveling I'd have bought a pint of the house-made serrano-based hot sauce. Great service both times we went, and we were offered free coffee to go in all-compostable containers.
Hubby found a great place for brunch today in Grand Rapids. Littlebird is a small restaurant with bar seating and tables inside, as well as an outdoor patio. The staff is so sweet especially our server Hope, as well Caleb who we had a great conversation with. Both were friendly and attentive. My husband ordered the duck confit hash, which was amazing. It was so flavorful and delicious. I had the Bousin & herb French omelette, which was melt-in-your mouth creamy deliciousness. This is not your typical breakfast place. The chef makes unique and creative dishes, definitely elevated. Two disappointments for me - 1) I wish they had sourdough without flax seeds. I had to get gluten-free bread instead since I can't do seeds. Meh. 2) I was looking forward to a cappuccino, but not offered here. Other than those two minor things, I loved it!!
If you're looking for a unique little café that isn't serving the same old everyday breakfast menu, this is your place! The menu is fun, quirky and different, and the food was delicious. You can definitely see why this is a local favorite. We came for breakfast and really enjoyed the atmosphere--cute enough for a casual breakfast but also a great little date spot. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, plus a full bar if you're feeling a little more adventurous with breakfast. Service was great, food was delicious, and we loved that the menu had some personality. Definitely worth a stop if you're in downtown Grand Rapids!
It appears I've visited this spot twice. I'm updating my last review because I just have to give credit where credit is due. First all, the staff is very welcoming and friendly, the restaurant is well kept clean and tidy. I ordered a burger with an egg on top and gluten free bun, and omg it was out of this world good!! From the perfection of flavors, perfect amount of seasonings, crunchy pickles, and a juicy burger, to a good quality GF bun, I couldn't stop eating it. It also had a hint of char flavor on the bun that made it extra good. This place definitely had the best burger in town! Thanks for Jacob for recommending the burger.
I absolutely love Little Bird's smashburger and I will die on this hill. It's probably one of the best burgers (if not the best) dine-in burger in GR and I will constantly come back for this over and over. My boyfriend and I stumbled in during happy hour and were happy to grab some cheap drinks, but the main event was the burger! We typically like sitting at the bar as well and chat with the bartender who was absolutely lovely! The dirty martini was okay but I will definitely order something else next time as the olives just didn't hit for me. It's a quaint and quiet spot - you can read that as intimate - since it's not loud or rowdy, so if you want a really sweet date spot, feel free to check this one out! Otherwise, you can just go and have a casual, delicious dinner. Parking is limited with the street parking and it being so close to Monroe Center but you shouldn't have a terrible time finding something, even if requires a parking ramp vs street parking. I'd just recommend a reservation if you are going on a weekend or don't want to wait/sit at the bar!
It's my birthday weekend and wanted to treat myself to a luxurious brunch. Of course I chose Littlebird for the best French omelettes in the area. I adore crab so ordering that was a no brainer. Their coffee is strong. It took a ton of cream to change the color... though it was delicious with free refills for $5. The omelette was heaven. All the flavors melded well and I appreciated the crisp acidic salad to cut the richness of the omelette. My only critique is wishing the crab salad topping was a bit more decadent. For $21 I was hoping for big lumps of crab rather than cool shredded mayo based salad. All in all, I love this place, I love the concept. It was quite busy and was thankful to snag a seat at the bar. The service was friendly and quick. Best hipster establishment I've patronized in a long time. Make a reservation if you have a group or pray there is a seat at the bar. Keep doing your thang Littlebird!!
Good service, was seated quickly. Happy hour is only for drinks. Decent $6 mixed drinks selection. Smash cheeseburger ($18) was a bit pricey but it was filling. $5.5 for the smoked pork belly was a bit much. It wasn't greasy but very salty on a smash burger patty that was already salted. I added the slaw ontop but it didn't cut through it. Would have liked some raw veggies like tomato and onions. The pickles were an afterthought instead of complimenting the burger. The fries were delicious and crispy and tasted like they were fried in beef fat. Good place if you want to splurge on a smash burger.
Food was subpar for the price point. We sat outside and the service was like the food. Nothing special. I love the location. Very cute and lots of foot traffic. But probably will not be back.
Littlebird is my FAVORITE smash burger in GR! The milk bread bun is so soft and fluffy, and the meat is the perfect amount of seasoned without being overly salty. I ordered with a side salad instead of fries because I wasn't that hungry, which seemed like an abomination, but I'm glad I did because the salad was great! Our server was great and attentive. We went during lunch time during the week and it was pretty calm, I know it gets quite a bit busier at peak times. Overall, another great experience!
What a great little joint here in Grand Rapids. Had breakfast here. Had the doughnut starter. What an amazing surprise. It was a like surprise in the mouth of flavor and consistency. Then ordered the two eggs (poached) & potatoes along with grilled sourdough bread served with homemade apple butter. Eggs poached perfect!!! Potatoes had a good flavor and crispiness perfect. Washed it all down with cranberry juice. Service was spot on as well. Again great amazing hidden joint to go grab some food.
When I travel, I love trying new places. I didn't rent a car, so I wanted a place where I could walk to, and Littlebird fit the bill. I made a reservation online because I heard they tend to get busy. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. For this particular visit I opted to sit inside. When I arrived, I was greeted by Jorge, who was quick to seat me. He gave me a few menus, let me know it was still happy hour (they had multiple cocktails on their happy hour menu, and wine specials). I opted to get a lemon drop. After looking at the menu, I decided to get the heirloom tomato salad. It sounded fresh and delicious and I was looking for something that wasn't fried. When I received this salad, it was a piece of artwork: heirloom tomatoes, beautiful roasted peaches, macadamia nuts, fresh corn, and shashito peppers. This dish was exquisite and hit all the notes I was hoping for: sweet, savory, fresh, and the crunch of the fresh corn and macademia nuts was genius! I then opted for their smashburger with a side of fries. I know what you're thinking "A burger is a burger, right?!?" No. No a burger is not just a burger. I'm not a huge fan of huge burger patties. I feel like it takes away from the dish. When my burger arrived, I was excited to dig in. The smash burger had two thin patties, velvety cheese, dijon mustard, and pickles. I cut my burger into quarters. My first bite was delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked, the bread was soft, and the pickles were crisp. This may have been the best smash burger I've had ever. The fries were perfectly cut and crispy enough. Jorge came by multiple times to check on me to see how I was enjoying my meal, filled up my water glass, and was attentive. When I'm back in Grand Rapids, I'll be stopping by Littlebird for that smashburger and the heirloom tomato salad!
I am plant based vegan and anytime I plan to go to a restaurant that is not solely 100% vegan, I look to see what vegan options are offered. This was my first time at at Little Bird and it definitely did not disappoint. However, I now see why it's called Little Bird because the inside is definitely small but that just adds to the ambiance. My husband and I came here for brunch on a Saturday because it's a place we both can eat at (he's not vegan). When we walked in the restaurant was bustling and packed, but we got seated right away by the door which was cool because we could people watch. Our server greeted us immediately and filled our glasses with water. She was nice and answered all of our questions. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with my brunch choices which were the soup of the day, a lentil curry, pumpkin seed combo with tons of good seasoning and cilantro on top...it was soooo good and vegan friendly! For my entree I got the tofu sandwich with the most amazing side salad that had this lemon dressing that set it off right! I could have just had a plate of the salad! Although the tofu sandwich was good, it was a bit on the salty side for my taste, but I still enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this place for vegan options and I'd come back. Just be aware they don't take reservations for brunch and it's pretty loud, but it's a really cute establishment and I was pleased with the food and service. Give it a try!!!

Amazing brunch spot! All be food our group ordered was delicious. The drinks and coffee were great too! Be prepared to wait on a weekend, especially if you woke up late. The staff was extremely sweet and helpful. read more
Was looking for a spot for lunch before heading out of the area and Littlebird looked like a good place. The space was quaint and cute. I loved the design of the bar and the additional outdoor space. It felt very coffee shop but a restaurant. The food choices were a bit limited. I got a vegetable tagine, which was pretty good, great flavors. The only thing I didn't love was that it seemed to be made with raw veggies (or mine was severely undercooked). I guess I assumed after a couple of bites that they just prepare it that way. All in all, worth a stop in. They seem to have some great dishes. read more

Stopped here on the way up to traverse city. Cute downtown area / Incredible food. Decent amount of outdoor seating. Friendly service (dog friendly outside). Best breakfast potatoes I've had in a long time - they were crispy and chewy and warm on the inside. Breakfast sandwich was delicious - the mayo was so satisfying. French toast was good even getting it "plain Jane" style! Pleasantly surprised with how good this place was! Definitely stop here if you're in GR! read more
Update 2025: Kristin was AMAZING! So caretaking. I'm handicapped on crutches and she took the time to open the back door leading to the bathroom for me so I didn't have to juggle. She was also an amazing waitress! Hit them up for Happy Hour -ends at 5:30. Unfortunately, they no longer have curry fries, our whole reason for stopping in. BUT, we discovered the pot de creme. Peruvian dark chocolate with a house-made maple miso vanilla ice cream. It was AMAZING! Dream worthy. Add it to the list of favorites I hope never goes away bc we'll be back! read more
Great experience at Littlebird! The service was kind and very accommodating. I got the arctic char, and it was cooked perfectly. The roasted beets were also delicious. My dining companions enjoyed their food as well. Everything looked beautiful and tasted amazing. Definitely recommend! read more

Tried Littlebird when I was staying downtown at the hotel next door and was blown away! The interior is intimate and lovely, and the servers were extremely kind. Would definitely come back here again! read more
Service from the bartender was great! He really made an effort to connect with the customers at the bar. I had the burger and it was really everything all the other reviews rave about. Have visited twice recently -- once for breakfast and once for dinner. Thoroughly enjoyed both! Food is excellent. In particular, I recommend their smashed burger and fries... it was the perfect meal to soak up a bottle of grower Champagne. Speaking of which, their wine list is small but thoughtful, with options that you won't find at your average bar. Service is quick and friendly. One thing to note is that it's quite small, so there may be a wait at busy times. But it's worth it! read more

Both the food and service at Little Bird deserve 5 stars. We were sitting with our grandchild in the open outside air and the staff made sure we were seated in the next plastic bubble. The bubble was nice, it stopped the air and actually kept body heat inside. The food was good. Everything was prepared with care. The flavor was nice! I would go back again. read more
We sat outside in small, individual bubble clear tents with our family. why? Dog friendly and it was cold outside. Hi Renee, thanks for coming in! Please let us know what we can do to…
My friend and I came here for brunch today and we were very impressed with our meals! We sat at the bar and the bartender served as our waitress, she was super kind and very consistently filling our waters. I ordered the smashburger and my friend got the sweet potato hash with no kale. The burger was cooked so well and the egg was perfectly runny. The fries were also super delicious (a little salty). The hash was super good! The garlic miso dressing on it was divine! I think I could drink it. The veg in it was all cooked very well! I would totally come back with friends or for a date night! No tvs, so the aesthetics were on point!! read more
We really enjoyed it here but didn't eat here originally. We noticed that they serve brunch so I figured this was a great opportunity to go back and eat. Their menu is on the smaller side but we had no problem choosing. We ordered chicken and waffles and wagyu steak and eggs. Both were incredible! The chicken was interestingly buffalo chicken. The waffle was called a bubble waffle and was very unique looking. The steak was cooked perfectly and the hash brown were delightful. I enjoyed my morning mimosas. We love the atmosphere and the service is always too notch. We are excited to come back for lunch. read more

They have a limited breakfast menu but the food was really good and service was great. I got a basic breakfast with eggs, toast and potatoes. For the toast you don't have any choice. It's an in house made multi grain 1/2 slice of toast. The potatoes were really amazing. The chef showed how he makes them on the grill when someone told him how good they were. My friend got the same breakfast but added a sausage patty for $5. Coffee was also $5. read more
Definitely a popular place so we were lucky enough to grab some bar seating as soon as we walked in - but the wait would have been worth it for our experience! Catherine was a great bartender/server, gave great suggestions and answered all of our questions. The food was phenomenal, I'm sad my appetite wasn't bigger to order multiple dishes. We split a Bloody Mary, which they were gracious enough to split (the Bloody Mary picture is 1/2 of a full bloody!) and had some great coffee. I ordered the smash burger, which may have had one of the softest and spongiest buns I've ever had - it was delicious. The patties were great and had a nice char to them, and the fries were excellent (you also have other options for sides if fries aren't your vibe first thing in the AM). The French omelette was delicate but rich, the omelette light and fluffy while the Boursin and herbs gave a rich creaminess to the dish. Can't wait to visit again - so many of the dishes looked amazing and staff and service were great! read more
