It's my birthday weekend and wanted to treat myself to a luxurious brunch. Of course I chose Littlebird for the best French omelettes in the area. I adore crab so ordering that was a no brainer. Their coffee is strong. It took a ton of cream to change the color... though it was delicious with free refills for $5. The omelette was heaven. All the flavors melded well and I appreciated the crisp acidic salad to cut the richness of the omelette. My only critique is wishing the crab salad topping was a bit more decadent. For $21 I was hoping for big lumps of crab rather than cool shredded mayo based salad. All in all, I love this place, I love the concept. It was quite busy and was thankful to snag a seat at the bar. The service was friendly and quick. Best hipster establishment I've patronized in a long time. Make a reservation if you have a group or pray there is a seat at the bar. I absolutely love Little Bird's smashburger and I will die on this hill. It's probably one of the best burgers (if not the best) dine-in burger in GR and I will constantly come back for this over and over. My boyfriend and I stumbled in during happy hour and were happy to grab some cheap drinks, but the main event was the burger! We typically like sitting at the bar as well and chat with the bartender who was absolutely lovely! The dirty martini was okay but I will definitely order something else next time as the olives just didn't hit for me. It's a quaint and quiet spot - you can read that as intimate - since it's not loud or rowdy, so if you want a really sweet date spot, feel free to check this one out! Otherwise, you can just go and have a casual, delicious dinner. Parking is limited with the street parking and it being so close to Monroe Center but you shouldn't have a terrible time finding something, even if requires a parking ramp vs street parking. I am plant based vegan and anytime I plan to go to a restaurant that is not solely 100% vegan, I look to see what vegan options are offered. This was my first time at at Little Bird and it definitely did not disappoint. However, I now see why it's called Little Bird because the inside is definitely small but that just adds to the ambiance. My husband and I came here for brunch on a Saturday because it's a place we both can eat at (he's not vegan). When we walked in the restaurant was bustling and packed, but we got seated right away by the door which was cool because we could people watch. Our server greeted us immediately and filled our glasses with water. She was nice and answered all of our questions. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with my brunch choices which were the soup of the day, a lentil curry, pumpkin seed combo with tons of good seasoning and cilantro on top...it was soooo good and vegan friendly! For my entree I got the tofu sandwich with the most amazing side salad that had this lemon dressing that set it off right! I could have just had a plate of the salad! Although the tofu sandwich was good, it was a bit on the salty side for my taste, but I still enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this place for vegan options and I'd come back. Just be aware they don't take reservations for brunch and it's pretty loud, but it's a really cute establishment and I was pleased with the food and service. Give it a try!!! read more

Littlebird is my FAVORITE smash burger in GR! The milk bread bun is so soft and fluffy, and the meat is the perfect amount of seasoned without being overly salty. I ordered with a side salad instead of fries because I wasn't that hungry, which seemed like an abomination, but I'm glad I did because the salad was great! Our server was great and attentive. What a great little joint here in Grand Rapids. Had breakfast here. Had the doughnut starter. What an amazing surprise. It was a like surprise in the mouth of flavor and consistency. Then ordered the two eggs (poached) & potatoes along with grilled sourdough bread served with homemade apple butter. Eggs poached perfect!!! Potatoes had a good flavor and crispiness perfect. When I travel, I love trying new places. I didn't rent a car, so I wanted a place where I could walk to, and Littlebird fit the bill. I made a reservation online because I heard they tend to get busy. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. For this particular visit I opted to sit inside. When I arrived, I was greeted by Jorge, who was quick to seat me. He gave me a few menus, let me know it was still happy hour (they had multiple cocktails on their happy hour menu, and wine specials). I opted to get a lemon drop. After looking at the menu, I decided to get the heirloom tomato salad. It sounded fresh and delicious and I was looking for something that wasn't fried. When I received this salad, it was a piece of artwork: heirloom tomatoes, beautiful roasted peaches, macadamia nuts, fresh corn, and shashito peppers. This dish was exquisite and hit all the notes I was hoping for: sweet, savory, fresh, and the crunch of the fresh corn and macademia nuts was genius! I then opted for their smashburger with a side of fries. I know what you're thinking "A burger is a burger, right?!?" No. No a burger is not just a burger. I'm not a huge fan of huge burger patties. I feel like it takes away from the dish. When my burger arrived, I was excited to dig in. The smash burger had two thin patties, velvety cheese, dijon mustard, and pickles. I cut my burger into quarters. My first bite was delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked, the bread was soft, and the pickles were crisp. This may have been the best smash burger I've had ever. The fries were perfectly cut and crispy enough. Jorge came by multiple times to check on me to see how I was enjoying my meal, filled up my water glass, and was attentive. When I'm back in Grand Rapids, I'll be stopping by Littlebird for that smashburger and the heirloom tomato salad! read more

Update 2025: Kristin was AMAZING! So caretaking. I'm handicapped on crutches and she took the time to open the back door leading to the bathroom for me so I didn't have to juggle. She was also an amazing waitress! Hit them up for Happy Hour -ends at 5:30. Unfortunately, they no longer have curry fries, our whole reason for stopping in. BUT, we discovered the pot de creme. Peruvian dark chocolate with a house-made maple miso vanilla ice cream. It was AMAZING! Dream worthy. Add it to the list of favorites I hope never goes away bc we'll be back! read more

Have visited twice recently -- once for breakfast and once for dinner. Thoroughly enjoyed both! Food is excellent. In particular, I recommend their smashed burger and fries... it was the perfect meal to soak up a bottle of grower Champagne. Speaking of which, their wine list is small but thoughtful, with options that you won't find at your average bar. Service is quick and friendly. Definitely a popular place so we were lucky enough to grab some bar seating as soon as we walked in - but the wait would have been worth it for our experience! Catherine was a great bartender/server, gave great suggestions and answered all of our questions. The food was phenomenal, I'm sad my appetite wasn't bigger to order multiple dishes. We split a Bloody Mary, which they were gracious enough to split (the Bloody Mary picture is 1/2 of a full bloody!) and had some great coffee. I ordered the smash burger, which may have had one of the softest and spongiest buns I've ever had - it was delicious. The patties were great and had a nice char to them, and the fries were excellent (you also have other options for sides if fries aren't your vibe first thing in the AM). The French omelette was delicate but rich, the omelette light and fluffy while the Boursin and herbs gave a rich creaminess to the dish. Best dinner in Grand Rapids I've eaten. Classy and simple restaurant that feels like a combination turn-of-the-last-century bar and old pharmacy. Large wine, beer, cocktails, and N/A selections. The bun is toasted yet fluffy, the meat full of flavor, and the cheese melted to perfection. The fries were also perfectly crispy. Littlebird is an absolutely adorable spot in downtown Grand Rapids with huge potential. We stopped in on a Friday for lunch, never having been there as we were new to the area on a work trip. We were able to snag an outdoor table at 1 pm without any wait, which was a score. The staff were friendly and helpful with navigating a simple menu. We got a smash burger with side salad, and the fried chicken sandwich with fries - the fries were highly recommended. we had a fresh pitcher of water on the table, and the food took no time to be delivered to the table. The smash burger was fantastic, bursting with flavor. Chicken sandwich was 'okay' at best. I love that it was made with thighs instead of breast, i loved the pickled slaw, the pickles were a delight - but the fried thighs had a thick sauce which was just too much. The soft butter bun is a delight, but really bulky with so many items inside of it. I removed the top and went at it with a fork and knife, leaving most of it behind. The fries were a major letdown. Were they crispy? yes - to a fault, where they were fried completely through so that there was nothing inside of the fries. Just a perfectly salty, crunch shell of a fry - very oily. I'd head back to Littlebird for what I'm told is the true highlight of the menu (they were sold out that day) - the egg drop ramen. We'll make it happen on my next trip to Michigan, maybe. read more

I'm still sad that Littlebird got rid of the BEST kale Caesar salad in town, but they are forgiven because everything else is so delicious. I'd heard great things about their burger, so we stopped in before a show recently to try it. I'd mostly been to Littlebird for brunch on previous visits. Everyone was right, the burger is incredible. The patties were perfectly seasoned and cooked well, and I liked that the pickles were really thin and not overpowering. The milk bread bun was soft but buttery and toasted, and held up well to the patties. The fries that came with it were amazingly crispy on the outside and really soft and pillowy inside. I think they could've used a tiny bit more salt, but overall this burger and fries combo is by far my current favorite in all of Grand Rapids. We also got a small plate to share, the roasted peppers. This was not a visually stunning dish but it was packed with flavor and we loved it. The baba ganoush was super savory and delicious, and the smoked tomato-soy maple gave it just the right amount of sweetness. I didn't expect to love this dish as much as I did. There are only a few issues with Littlebird, one being that their menu changes seasonally which means if you find a dish you love (ahem, like a kale Caesar salad) it may not be there forever. The other issue is that the space itself is very cozy, or small. They do take reservations, so if you are able to plan ahead, I'd highly recommend that route. I've been able to walk in and sit at the bar most times I've visited, but I often come at off peak times. The food at Littlebird is unique and delicious without being overly pretentious. read more

I was in town for a conference, and a colleague recommended Little Bird for dinner--I'm so glad she did! Even without a reservation, we were offered bar seating or a cozy outdoor pod (we opted for the pod). The menu features locally sourced ingredients, and the service was excellent. We shared the Little Gem salad, which had a great mix of flavors and textures, thanks to the mint and pistachios. We also each had the smash burger--absolutely delicious--and the fries were the perfect side. (Tip: add the garlic mayo!) Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing - I got the simple breakfast plate. My eggs weren't cooked enough and weren't very fresh. The potatoes were alright I guess. The star of the plate was the homemade jam for the toast which was delicious. I also got the side of fresh fruit, and for $7, it was a REALLY small portion, and most of it was over-ripe. Visiting from Carolinas and wanted to try some vegan food in GR Downtown, this had some good vegan yelp reviews so thought of giving it a try. They have really nice outside seating and it's farm to table so this is great. My review is primarily based on food, this is the first time I liked a burger that much, so very good. Being a vegan we had very very limited options, would be nice to see some more. Staff was very accommodating and were upfront on what vegan options can they accommodate that was very much appreciative. The Romanesco (the only one of the vegan option on menu) was considered a large plate but it was definitely not enough for one person, I left hungry from the place which wasn't the best feeling.
