I don't know that I can do this review the justice it really deserves. Mangiamo was truly spectacular! The restaurant is an old mansion with quite an interesting history. The Mansion was originally a private residence built in 1872 and owned by a lumberman and his wife. Then it was turned into a Friary. It's been a couple different restaurants since the 1980s. There are banquet halls on the second and, I believe, third floors. They also had a giant tent on the grounds for out door events. I highly recommend reservations as they were very busy even for a week night. The Mansion is located in the middle of a neighborhood. I was worried about parking but have no fear. There is free on site parking. The grounds were beautiful and the mansion itself is exquisite! We had reservations for the Study which was small but beautiful with only a few tables. It has a romantic feel to it with huge gorgeous windows, soft lighting, and a giant fireplace. Our server was incredible. She took great care of us and helped us navigate our wine choices as well as the food menu. We decided on a bottle of Pinot Noir and started with, my favorite, muscles. I couldn't decide on white or red sauce so they split them for us. In the end the red sauce was our favorite. It was so flavorful. Delicious. We also chose the Lobster Thermidore and Beef Bolognese. I have never had Lobster Thermidore before and was absolutely delighted. My mouth is watering thinking about it. The portion sizes were enormous and we ended up with a big container of leftovers to enjoy the next day! After dinner we headed on down to the Mansions "dirty little secret"; A speakeasy called Mo's cocktail lounge. We also truly enjoyed ourselves there! A very unique dining experience, I wanted to love but it fell a little short. Firstly, they do have their own parking lot which is nice and convenient. I liked the overall vibe of the restored mansion, and thought the different rooms/dining areas were cool. We had made a reservation for earlier in the evening and were seated at a table in the front room after you pass the bar area. I'm not sure if other dining rooms had better service but I think our waiter was also the bartender?? He barely waited on us and time between appetizers to main course was a good 30 minutes. In all that time, we never even saw him to order more drinks or anything. Maybe they were just short staffed that night? Hard to say. Anyway, I thought the food was good overall but not outstanding. I really enjoyed the complimentary bread, especially the one with olives! As an appetizer, I ordered a half dozen oysters, but would pass on these next time. I also had a NA cocktail but unfortunately it was very sugary. Later in the meal I ordered an espresso martini and that was better. Very impressive place architecturally! Food? Not so much. Over salted (everything) a rookie mistake. Our steaks were stone cold in the middle (ordered med rare). Really crazy that we dropped $300 for 3 of us and I went home and made a sandwich. Lol. Stupid. Lately eating out is closer to attending a comedy show than enjoying well prepared quality cuisine. We informed our waitress and who I believe to be a manager about these issues with the food - we were offered a very thin slice of cheesecake that measured 1" x 3" - more comedy. This was a Christmas celebration for a family member that will be gone during Christmas. We were seated in the front library type room with beautiful fireplace and seating areas. I started with a glass of their Trefethen Merlot which was excellent. Next I ordered their Truffle Soup - highly recommend, delicious! My daughter ordered their oysters which were just okay. Next we ordered to share the Beet Salad and Eggplant Burrata which were very good. Espresso Martini for after. All good but unfortunately terrible service. They were definitely understaffed. Mangiamos is not just a restaurant it's an experience! We made a reservation and went last night (a Thursday) and it was very busy! That's a great indication of quality and service. Our server Taylor was amazing. She was very knowledgeable about the menu both food and beverage. After some discussion and questions we chose the two most popular items on the menu and were thrilled with them. We started with a glass of wine and a craft beer delivered by charming Liam! The pork dish is a shank served over yummy polenta with beautiful fresh root vegetables. It was a generous portion and so delicious that my husband devoured it. It was fall off the bone tender!! The scallops were huge and flavorful served with a fun sauce and fresh broccolini and carrots. This is truly a fine dining experience. The menu includes starters, salads, pastas and entrees. There is also a steak menu with separate side dishes. A fun speakeasy called Mo's is in the basement and has an outdoor fire pit. It was a magical evening for both of us! Took my wife here for her birthday dinner and we were both VERY impressed! First of all, the decor in this restaurant is top notch. It is very high end and luxurious. It is so cool eating at a place that is so much nicer than your standard restaurants. The service was very attentive. Definitely make a reservation. There were a couple open tables, but the place is also very large with multiple dining rooms, so I wouldn't count on just walking in. All of the food and drinks came out with perfect timing, so we didn't feel rushed, but also weren't bored waiting for our order. All of the food was soooo good. You can tell they use great quality ingredients. The prices are reasonable for high-end, quality food. Unless you're getting a fancy steak or lobster, nose dishes were about $25 or so. I will definitely be coming back! It's such a cool restaurant you have to experience it for yourself. p.s. don't forget to find the small, speakeasy type bar in the basement for a cocktail! read more

Food was good, ambiance 10/10. I went to Mangiamo for my birthday with all my family so like 10 of us. Everything took forever, yes I took into consideration it's a bigger group, however our waitress would just disappear and didn't communicate well. We waited at least 10-15 mins for WATER. Drinks took longer and the food even longer. It wasn't packed for a Saturday night either. It was not the best experience for my first time going and I left frustrated and disappointed. On top of that it's automatic 20% gratuity that I don't think our waitress should've gotten. Knowing myself and my family, had the service been great, it would've been more. Not sure if I'll be trying again but I do think it's a place to try at-least once. read more

We sat in the study. Love the atmosphere, but the service was terrible. We waited a long time to get drinks. We didn't even have water. I know the waiter was busy, but he could have at least acknowledged us and said he'd be right with us. It was difficult to get his attention and if you did and you hesitated, he was off again. It would've been nice if they could've at least had somebody else in the restaurant that could have walked around and filled the water glasses while the waiters were busy attending to their tables. The KNIFE & FORK CAESAR salad, featuring torched artisan romaine, roasted garlic, tomatoes, parmesan cheese, croutons, and house Caesar dressing, is exceptional; the homemade dressing is among the best I've ever tasted. The cocktails we tried were delicious, their complimentary bread was SO good, our waitress was very kind, and we loved nearly everything we ate! For appetizer you MUST get the fried artichoke hearts, it was our favorite item by far! For the mains we tried the lasagna (massive portion and tasted great), and the shrimp alla vodka (it was just ok, chuck full of shrimp, and we loved the addition of the asparagus). I finally tried this place after reserving two weeks in advance and WOW definitely worth it. The mansion was beautiful with lit fires on the outside and a beautiful dimmed ambiance inside. Our waiter Jerry was amazing and so helpful when it came to choosing what to eat. My friend got the lobster tail risotto and I got the chicken piccata. I loved both of our choices but I will definitely be getting my own plate of lobster tail risotto next time. Absolutely immaculate. Everything about this experience was 10/10. I would recommend going on a weekday and arriving early to your reservation because we went on a Friday evening and the parking was packed. I would also note that there were only 2 non-alcoholic beverages so I wouldn't bring anyone that couldn't have alcohol. The historic Paddock Mansion now houses Mangiamo (again)! This location has seen some changes, from Gibson's in the 80s to Mangiamo! (2005-2017) to Paddock Place (2017-2023) and now a reincarnated version of Mangiamo! known as Mangiamo Italiano Elevato. Phew! I hope they've found their calling in this new version of Mangiamo. The building is historic and beautiful, with several different seating areas including a bar, lounge (the "library" room), two different wings of dining rooms, and the enclosed terrace area, which is where Nate and I were seated. The vibe is dark and a bit moody, upscale and classy but comfortable. I loved the lighting and candles everywhere. I really appreciated the perfect amount of lighting on the table which made it great for taking photos/video (since I work for Yelp this is huge)! Our server was relaxed and let us linger over the menu choices and helped with recommendations. We started with the fried artichoke hearts, which were crispy and delicious. I loved the dill aioli. For our entrees, I was torn between the scallops and the eggplant burrata, but settled on the scallops since I don't ever make them at home. Nate got the Pebble Creek mushroom ravioli. We were offered a palate cleanser of a lightly pickled grape tomato, which was a fun touch. Entrees were well timed and plated nicely. The scallops were a bit smaller than I was expecting, but they came five to the plate. They were cooked nicely but I would've preferred a harder sear. The veggies were fairly unremarkable but also cooked well. In a personal oversight, I didn't realize the beurre blanc sauce had a bunch of rosemary in it - one of my least favorite herbs. It was still pretty tasty, but something to note if you are a fellow rosemary hater. I had a few bites of the ravioli which were SO good. I loved the texture of the pasta and the truffle oil was delicious. I don't care what anyone says about truffle oil, I love it. There's a speakeasy in the basement (the former wine cellar) but it's only open Thursday through Saturday, so we didn't get to check that out. Reservations for the dining room are recommended although it wasn't too busy on a Monday evening. Note that while they do serve sandwiches/handhelds, you can only order those in the "lounge" area and not any of the main dining rooms. Definitely a nice spot for a date night, taking parents out to dinner, or a girls' night. read more

I have a mixed review. We went there tonight for our 40th anniversary. I made sure to mention that in our reservation, but it was not acknowledged at all by our server, Ian, until we told him. He was a nice guy, but seemed to have a questionable memory. I ordered a martini exactly how I like it (extremely dry with a lemon twist) and he came back a bit later to ask again how I wanted it. Then he helped other tables, came back to ours and asked what we wanted to drink. I told him AGAIN and eventually we got our drinks - but mine had olives instead of a twist. I didn't say anything about it, just drank it. We had asked for our bread when we ordered our drinks, and asked for it twice more as time went on, and then again when the manager, Laine, came by to see how we were doing. We finally got it when we were almost done with our entrees. The food was delicious - I got the Eggplant Burrata and my husband the Scottish Salmon. We ordered the Lemoncello cake for dessert and it was great - not too big like so many other restaurants. Then Laine showed up with more drinks. I said that I didn't want another, but she said they were on the house. After we were done, Laine took us on a tour of the restaurant, which was really interesting. She was very nice and I could tell she loved the house and the business. We really enjoyed the tour. They did a phenomenal job with the renovation. It is a beautiful building. When we left, I remarked to my husband to watch his step because the concrete steps are painted black and the light was rather dim. He was fine, but I fell down the last step and skinned and bruised my knee, twisted my ankle and hurt my wrist. I think that some reflective tape on the steps might be in order! read more

We found this restaurant by accident. We initially set out for Moes, the cocktail bar in the basement. Moes was full so the host suggested we try the bar upstairs at Mangiamo. The service and the atmosphere were so great that we returned the next night for dinner. Again we had impeccable service. The salmon, the truffle soup, and the seasonal salad were excellent. What a fantastic experience I don't often start reviews with the service but Ian was amazing and guided us through drinks and food. We came in early with visitors from out of town before an event so we were just doing drinks and appetizers. The restaurant is beautiful and decorated perfectly and the lighting is just right added to the ambiance was the fireplace roaring. I was so excited to see Mangiamo's came back and elevated themselves with new decor and a new menu. My boyfriend and I walked-in the restaurant and didn't make a reservation ahead of time, but found that we could sit in the bar area for dinner. The vibes were great and super cozy. The bar and restaurant actually have two different menus, but you can order off of either menu. Luckily, we asked our server so we could look into the two menus before making a decision. I enjoyed the meals we chose and look forward to going back and trying more!
