It might be better on other nights or if you're traveling with a group but I came for karaoke on a Saturday night and it was impossible to sing or even look at a songbook. The place was packed and LOUD so forget about having a conversation with anyone. It's very tiny though I liked their having pool and skeeball machines here. If it hadn't been so packed and maybe if I weren't by myself, it would have been better but there's no way I could have sung here and been heard clearly so not the place for my purposes. Friendly, neighborhood, free pizza bar! This place has quickly become a staple for my roommate and I. We both enjoy beer, pool, music we either recognize or want to identify, and, of course: FREE PIZZA! Pretty standard slate of top notch beers (good pour of Guinness, heffeveizen, blue point, etc.), all for $5. Great deal when you factor in the pizza. The crowd is also standard williamsburg fare, and the place can get rather busy during meal times. There is always seating in the back, but unfortunately ---and sometimes fortunately---that area seems very separate from the front. The decorations try a little too hard to be "funny," but they sometimes succeed (little boy statue with hand eaten by an alligator? great! Christmas decorations half way through January and pre-made posters with funny quips about the place you are in? shut up!) Seemingly underused free karaoke on Thursdays, which is a good thing, as if you like singing, you'll probably get a shot. The have plenty of comfortable seating, a pool table, a couple video games, 50 cent skeeball, a photo booth, and a number of weekly events from Bar Trivia night to Wii Bowling night. The prices are reasonable with Yuengling on tap for $4 (all the other beers on tap are $6). If you haven't read any other reviews for Alligator Lounge yet then you still don't know the best part of this place. Free Pizza! This is New York, you don't get a couple slices or a frozen pizza. You're getting a fresh made to order personal pizza (about 12" size) cooked in their brick oven. This isn't a special or a rare event, this is something they're doing anytime they're open. Cheese is free and additional toppings are $2/ea to cover their costs. You can even come in and get a pizza to go for $5 which makes it one of the cheapest lunches around. But as long as you're here drinking the pizza is free (and they don't stop you at one pizza if you want more). I took away 1/2 star because the bartender wasn't the most attentive and the bar was uncomfortably warm when I was there and they didn't think it was warm enough to put on the air conditioner. In their defense it was the time of year that makes using the air conditioner iffy and it was just a bad judgment call on this particular day. The don't take credit cards but they do have an ATM on premises. Update: Toppings dropped to $1 each but pizza after 8pm is now $1 each. I've noticed they really skimp on the sauce on the pizza but I'm still a fan. read more

I love this place. Yep, love. LOVE. I can be picky about food (although I don't think generally I am very picky) but this pizza met and exceeded my expectations. Also, the fact that I get a free pizza (and it is NOT small, it is cut into 8 small slices so I would say it's about 2 normal thin crust slices) when I buy a drink is STELLAR.*** The fact that it doesn't matter what drink I purchased, whether it cost $4 or $8 is also PHENOMENAL. I went here with one of my bffs after work and before we were seeing a play in Williamsburg. I am not super familiar with the area but we somehow arrived at this place. My friend likes Crocodile Lounge and so the rest is history. But anyway, we ate at least 4 pizzas each. It maybe was more. We were super full and happy after it. I would venture back here even without an excuse to go to Williamsburg. This is how enamored I am. I thought it would be crowded and that I would be left juggling my pizza and beer but that was not at all the case. When I walked in at 6:30pm it was practically empty. Free personal pizza with the purchase of every drink? Going to Alligator Lounge was a no brainer after a friend told me that. We actually decided to start a tradition last week, Pizza Party Thursday, and came here after eating pizza at Roberta's (look for my review of that place! as well). You do get a ticket that is redeemable for a free personal pizza with every drink you purchase. They have various toppings, but they cost $1 each. To be honest, the pizza is pretty good. Even after eating an entire pizza alone at Roberta's I enjoyed it. You aren't going to get the best pizza in town, but it's edible and would still be considered good even if it wasn't free. To my surprise, they were running an NES (yes, Nintendo Entertainment System) tournament in the back room! They host one every Thursday. If you win a challenge or complete a given task in a game, you get a free drink ticket. For example, one of the tasks was to land the plane in Top Gun. Didn't matter if you died, you just had to land the plane at the end of the level. If you did that, you got a free drink ticket. Another competition they had was to get the lowest score in the first level of Super Mario Bros. This is a bit harder than it sounds, as you can't break any blocks, kill any enemies, die, or finish the level with ANY time left. You have to cross the very bottom of the flag pole with 0000 left. For that, you competed against other people for the lowest score. They also have a bunch more games but those were the only two I was able to stay for. Anyway, Alligator Lounge is definitely doing things right with the free pizza and the NES tourney on Thursdays is awesome IMO. I'll definitely be going back! read more

Cheap drinks, photo booth, skee-ball, free pizza?! This place is pretty awesome and I like the way its seating is set up, with high and low tops too and a great back area near skee-ball to chill out. Service was meh, but that's to be expected, especially considering I came on New Years. Pizza is what you would expect for free pizza, personal size, sometimes you get cheese, sometimes you don't, but you can pay for extra toppings as well. Came here on Friday night, packed as expected but the crowd was more of all 30+.. We were like the only people in the 20's age .. In the front is the bar with a kitchen in the corner for pizza, and in the back room lies more seating and tables, skeeball, shooting arcade and a photo booth. The pool table is always occupied and pretty much ran by regulars, while the karaoke system will be lined up with a lot of intoxicated, loud and bad screechers who would bleed your ears . The main catch to this place is the free pizza with every drink purchase. You get a ticket that you can exchange at the corner for a pizza. With some drinks, these free pizza is a win. I was at the met the local gay/lesbian bar next door and I decided to venture into Alligator Lounge with friends after having a few beers. I knew they had the pizza deal but didn't really know how it worked and asked the bartender there about it and it was actually very simple, they give you a coupon(which after looking around a bit) headed to the pizza guy and he gave us our own individual pizzas. The booths were fun to sit in but we had to wait our turn and there were a lot of couples there taking up whole booths. This is one of my favorite dive bars around! It's everything a dive bar should be: a little dirty, a little loud, a little hipster, a little attitude, and a LOT of free food. Any place that wants to give me a free pizza with any drink I purchase is fine by me! And the pizza actually tastes good! They have pool and karaoke and show baseball and football games. Cleaner and nicer inside than Croc lounge, however, I'm definitely a bigger fan of its baby brother. The bar is easily accessible from the Lorimer L-Train stop. Beer selection is OK and actually slightly cheaper than Croc Lounge. Free pizzas are cooked in wood burning oven and ultimately provide for a better crust than you'd find at Croc Lounge. Bar has a pool table which, though centrally located within the bar, is kind of annoying to navigate around (especially while carrying a beer and hot pizza pans). Near the ovens is the pool table. For a more intimate/sketchy feeling, head to the back seating area. The bathrooms are small and divy-equse. Dear Alligator Lounge, you had me at "free pizza." If I only had $4 to my name and needed to eat, I would come here for a yuengling & pizza (beat that pizza hut). As most have said, it's not the best pizza, but it's not that bad either. For $1/ topping, you can add toppings to your free cheese pizza. They have a nice beer selection and they are all fairly priced. They have a small outdoor seating area with chairs and two tables. I was here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and the ambience was chill. Props to the bartender who offered good conversation and was responsible for having the basketball game on, along with the 1980s American Gigolo movie. One last note, they have a pool table here too. I will be returning here again, but this time with some friends, great casual spot to meet up. read more

Oh man, Brooklynites -- you don't know how much of a good thing you have in Alligator Lounge. Ever since I've been back in LA, I can't stop telling my friends about this "crazy bar in Brooklyn that gives you a pizza when you buy a beer." Everyone -- and I mean everyone -- is floored upon hearing this. We're lucky if the bar has stale peanuts or Chex Mix! Recently came to NY on business and somehow ended up here at the end of a long, busy and drunken night to continue drinking + eating. Yuengling on tap is an ultimate bonus; that's another thing LA is lacking as well, so I made sure to drink as much of it as humanly possible during my visit. Went there and the bartender seemed a little too preoccupied with his miserable life. He does not know how to pour a Guinness nor does he know how to efficiently work the bar. After being fed up with the wait for a second I asked for my credit card back and said I would pay cash. He ran the credit card. If he put half the effort into bar tending that he put into his "hipster" look he wouldn't be half bad. I'm not sure if he realizes being a bartender is about getting drinks to the customer as quickly as you can, otherwise no one makes money. I will try this place again but surely not on a Monday. Drinks are cheap ($4-$6) and you can refuel so your tummy's happy at the end of the night. The pizza is pretty delicious for what it is -- free and fast-produced -- so it is definitely worth it to come here. Though it can take some time to get served at the bar, and a little more time to get your pizza. I don't know much about the bar beyond that; my friends and I rarely venture beyond the pool table and pizza oven in the front of the bar (and when we do, it's mostly to use the rest rooms) but the crowd is hipstery (seriously what did you expect?) and I hear that sometimes there are DJs.
