I live in Plano, TX, and would like to have an early breakfast but I couldn't find one that opens early. Allen Cafe is the only nearest one that opens at 6 am. I went there with my wife and both loved this place. The service was excellent and the foods were delicious!! The waitress makes sure our coffee is never run empty. I am visiting Allen from out of town so this is my first visit to Allen Cafe. The place is a small and personable, mom and pop, breakfast spot. The owner is always walking around helping out and socializing with the guests. They were pretty busy but we were greeted and sat fairly quickly and with a smile. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Our server is Alicia (She gets brownie points for her name cuz that's my sisters name and she just so happens to live here in Allen, TX). She was incredibly friendly and attentive. Now..... on to the food. I ordered a hash brown skillet. It was very good. I always order my hash browns extra crispy and these came out just like I like it. See the pic. Then for desert I ordered the Cinnamon French toast. It seems to be a favorite because the reviews agree. Since I am a black coffee drinker, the flavor of the coffee is important. It was very good. Not to weak and not to strong (though I really like strong coffee) and it didn't have an earthy taste. The decor is stuck in the '70's--and so are the prices! Excellent, attentive service, wonderful food, and as hometown an atmosphere as you could ever hope for. The entire menu is available all day--breakfast for supper & vice-versa. The portions are HUGE and satisfying. I can't even review the desserts because I'm so stuffed! The waitress was very attentive and everyone in the cafe seemed to be having a good time. Minor modifications to menu items are received with an "of course"'. This is a cute little brunch/breakfast place in Allen, that I would never have stumbled upon if it wasn't for Yelp. It's not located off of any major roads. It's one of those cute mom and pop shops that has been here for ages. They were pretty busy for lunch time, but they were quick and efficient with service and food. The portions are huge and you can't beat the prices here. I ordered the farmer's skillet and my husband had the gyro with fries. My plate was huge and I could hardly finish half. I chose the scrambled eggs on top. There's a mix of hash brown on the bottom, bacon, ham, sausage, cheese, onions, mushrooms, etc. It also comes with a biscuit which was nice and moist. The gyro was nice and light and not too heavy, but flavorful. But what I loved the most were the fries. They were awesome!! I was able to munch on those even after I was full. Loved this place. If we lived in the area we would be regulars. We were seated immediately and the hostesses got our drinks within minutes of sitting down. The waitress was there quickly to take our orders. We got our food faster than most fast food places. I ordered French toast, scrambled eggs and sausage. It was all really good. The French toast may have been slightly undercooked but the flavor was great. My husband had the breakfast burritos and said they were amazing. The prices were good especially for the amount of food we got. The place was packed but there was plenty of parking. Walked in to Allen Cafe today and while waiting for a table noticed some red flags. Social distancing between tables was being observed. Wait staff had masks but the lady seating people and shuttles food to waiting tables had hers on so loose and under her nose that it didn't really have any affect. Second we observed that the guy that appeared to be the owner came out from kitchen and was observed not wearing a mask at all. After further observation we noticed that the entire kitchen staff was not wearing any coverage at all as well. We decided that was enough for us and left the premises without any food. It's really too bad because the last time we ate here it was really decent food but if they don't care enough to cover even the standard guidelines then I'm out. Makes me wonder what they have been bypassing without the Covid-19 mandates. Trying to come out and safely participate in the world again but with this kind of behavior makes me even more cautious. read more
