This place was recommended to us by a local, and it did not disappoint! We came here during the weekend of the Cherry Blossom 10 mile and 5k runs. I was doing both and loved an excuse to carb load. Buona: 5/5. Could've been spicier but otherwise lovely flavors, just the right about of oil and honey, delicous meat and cheese, cornichone. I rarely eat the cornichone unless it was worth it -- this one was. Enzo the Baker: 5/5 from my partner who ordered it, 4.5/5 for me as the pickled vegetables on a pizza are less my thing. But it still tasted great, lots of fun flavors and textures here. AP Caesar Salad: 6/5 tasted extra good for some reason. Maybe it was the slightly citrusy or sour dressing, combined with the slight crunch and soft dairy of the various toppings that were well incorporated into the leaves. Love All-Purpose. It's about the most consistently good restaurant in the area. Staff is friendly and engaging, They never take the favorites off the menu. The pizza is exactly what you expect and want from an artisanal pizza shop - gently crisp crust and fun topping combos, but also can simply do your own toppings if you're just in the mood for simple. Appetizers have been great, as well - arancini or Caesar salad. The AP salad is good, as well. Travels well - 75% of my orders are takeout. All Purpose is another consistent go to of mine. The service is speedy and their staff is kind, they have a variety of menu items on both their dinner and brunch menus, and they have a fairly priced bottomless brunch deal for $19 currently. You can't go wrong with any of their pizzas. My favorites are The Sedgewick and a the Duke #7. The quality of the food is definitely worth the price that you pay. The Shaw location is the perfect size space, small enough that it feels quaint and large enough that you don't feel like you are on top of others while dining. In brief: The big plus here was the food. This was what an artisan pizza should be, from crust to toppings to the execution, it really was delicious. However, this place is small, loud and crowded. Also, I didn't love that there was a 20% fee on our bills (perhaps because we needed a spilt check? Wouldn't really recommend to anyone looking for food while staying in this area. Decided to order a pizza online for my partner, friend, and I, and was met with a 12' in pizza for $24. Since the pick up app and online sources refused to point out how big their pizzas are, we assumed they might have been larger based on the pictures of several people around these pizzas found on yelp. However, we did not see the physical menus until later which state they are all 12in pies which should be noted in the description across all sites, including their own toast take-out site. Complete oversight on pretty important information considering the price. Ended up really liking this place and would come back! First of all the service was really friendly. Keep in mind that they automatically add a 20% service charge for dining in and to go orders. The inside of the restaurant was dimly lit making the ambiance feel nice and cozy. It's also about a 5 minute walk from the Mt. Vernon metro stop so super accessible! We ordered the arancini (which I think they change the flavors seasonally, so this one had corn), the calamari, and the buona pizza with the chile dipper sauce. I'm not a huge cheese person, so the arancini was a little overwhelming for me but my friend liked it and gave it a 7/10. The calamari I feel you can't really go wrong with, and I loved how this one came with sweet peppers. It was coated with a green sauce which was creamy and delicious! However, not a fan of the tomato based sauce that came on the side. I liked the flavor of the sauce but thought the pairing with the calamari was off since it tasted similar to a tomato based sauce for pizza. Lastly, the pizza!!! Now this was really the star of the show. LOVED pairing it with the chile sauce since it added a bit of spice to the sweetness of the pizza from the honey sauce. All of the food is on the heavy side, but it was all yummy, greasy comfort foods. Get anything, or everything. I was most of all just appreciative of the friendly and attentive service. All Purpose is from the same restaurant group as Red Hen, which is a favorite of mine, so it's not surprising that it's also fantastic! The pizza crust is so good, and they have a lot of different options for topping combinations. My favorite is the Sedgwick, which is a white pizza with black truffle honey. And while Caesar salad may not sound like a must-order, at All Purpose it is. Their Caesar is lemony and fresh and better than almost any other I've had. Finally got a chance to try out this spot. Albeit, we did so via delivery. Props for great food packaging. Everything arrived in perfect shape. No spills, all still hot, etc. We started with the Caesar salad and garlic knots. The Caesar was yum. Tasty dressing and the toasted breadcrumbs were much better than the standard croutons. The garlic knots were amaze. A wonderful tasty mix, especially with the lemony butter stuff it came with. For pizzas, we ordered both the Standard and the Enzo. Yum yum! I came to All-Purpose on a Saturday evening. We made reservations ahead of time and were seated immediately when we arrived. Our waiter Jaime brought us waters and gave us some time to look over the menu. He was very attentive and checked on us multiple times throughout our meal. I ordered the Pimm's Cup, Tomato Bruschetta and Vespa Pizza. The Pimm's Cup drink has Pimm's No. 1, sparkling lemonade, mint and cucumber. I really liked this drink, they don't skimp on the alcohol! The Tomato Bruschetta comes with heirloom tomatoes, white bean puree, herbs and olive oil toast. This appetizer wasn't amazing and it wasn't terrible, the white bean puree didn't pair well with the other flavors... it was very bland. The Vespa Pizza comes with porcini cream, mozz, spring leeks, wild mushrooms and black truffle sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by this pizza, it is a must try! I wanted to try something different from a typical pizza and Vespa hit the spot :) The food came out quickly and staff were friendly and attentive. Right as the pizza was delivered my mom called with some un-fun news to share. We were on the phone for about 20 mins. I ate a bit during the call but not a ton. After we hung up I went back to my pizza and was very impressed especially with the GF crust. A few minutes later the man who'd seated me (who may have been the manager?) came by and said "I love our GF crust but it's not the best when it sits out. I saw you were on a long phone call. Let me switch this out for you." He proceeded to swap out my pizza for a completely fresh piping hot one! No charge for the second pizza AND no up charge for GF to begin with. Coming from the northeast, my expectations for pizza is always low outside of where I'm from and this place did an okay job. It probably is good pizza for DC, but I have too high of standards. I love the seasonings. Double stuffed fried mozzarella, stuffed with spinach. Yum. Pizzas were Sedgewick, whipped ricotta, mozzarella, truffle honey. I'm not a huge fan of truffle but it was faint and not too strong. The 2nd was Sunny Side, mozzarella with two sunny side up eggs, we didn't get the corned beef which it usually comes topped with. Our server said this was the top seller and his favorite. Parking in DC is not fun. We found a gas station across the street which charged $20 for parking.
