Report from today. We went to this restaurant today and asked for a place for two people. The server said 10 minutes. We said ok. But the table he said would be ready in 10 minutes had a couple of people still drinking wine. Ehen i pointed that out, he offered us a place at the bar. My friend got beer and I ordered food to save time. Another couple came and were seated at the rnd of the bar. We got anotyer table. I thought i saw them serve food to someone who came later than us. I did not say anything. 45 minutes gone, Two more tables (people who came after us) were served. At that point in time i waved at the young man at the bar that our food was not here. I told him "we would leave if our food is not here soon". He said "I am owner's son. I am going to be honest with you. You can leave if you want". At that point in time we left. I am not going pay to be both treated unfairly and not served on time. read more

Had dinner last night for my anniversary. The food service and management of the restaurant and staff was superb. I noticed how well management (Christian) worked with the staff. The grilled calamari was excellent and the salmon was terrific. Also ordered mousikka which was good too. Nutmeg in white sause. Warmed Baklava for dessert was amazing, the best baklava i've had. Dinner was leisurely. Christian was very easy going & kind to my husband and me. Drinks (mezcal) margaritas was terrible too. I will return. read more

Everytime I come, I'm already planning my next visit. Beautiful restaurant, especially during the warmer weather. Service is quick, attentive, and everything gives a nice authentic Greek vibe. The food is fantastic and I recommend getting the fish mezze if you have a party of 3+. It comes with sooo many delicious dishes to try and is incredibly filling. Aliada was great from start to finish! We ordered a bunch of dishes and did family style. -Calamari (fried): fried to perfection and not too chewy. Came with a marinara sauce -Greek salad: Good, but I wish there was more feta cheese served with the salad -Octopus: This was one of my favorites! Grilled and cooked so nicely. It wasn't over cooked or too chewy -Entire branzino deboned: the skin was nice and crispy and the fish was flaky and light. This was also one of my favorite dishes! -Loukaniko: homemade Greek sausage but it was probably my least favorite of everything -Zucchini croquettes: fried Patties that were average -The Greek spreads: the salmon spread and the hummus were my favorites The service was good and we enjoyed all the dishes. Ok food but relatively high prices. Food: I ordered the halloumi, spinach pie, and chicken kebab! I liked the halloumi but it was a bit salty. The spinach pie was good, but not special and pretty expensive given the size. Chicken kebab was juicy but not flavorful. I don't think I would order these items again from here Price: I thought the prices were steep given the portion sizes. There are so many places in Astoria that have more and better food. Covid safety: they have indoor seating but it was packed! Idyllic outpost on a quiet side street off of Broadway in Astoria serving up quality Cypriot fare. I took in a far too large meal on a Friday evening accompanied by a glass of ozou, the Greek equivalent of Turkish "raki" (one of my favorite drinks). There are plentiful vegetarian options. We tried 7 dishes in total, with the favorite being the wonderfully glazed spinach pie, adorned with just the right amount of feta. Other top options were the fried saganaki, zucchini pancakes (again reminding me of Turkey, this time mucver), and fried eggplant. I wouldn't mind skipping the lemon potatoes next time - not garlicky or browned enough for my taste. I'd also probably like the grilled halloumi better than the fries. read more

This place is delicious. I loved it. There was no wait when I arrived in the middle of the day around 12:30 pm, but there was some construction going on. I had the chicken skewers and the roasted beets and also the halloumi. All of these items were spectacularly done. The chicken was tender, moist, and super flavorful. The grilled octopus was perfectly done. I loved it so much. The roasted beets were presented so beautifully. See photo, that the image lives up to the hype in terms of taste. The Halloumi fries were alright, but next time, I'm going to get some baked or grilled fish. Oh wow, I was sincerely impressed by the quality of the meals here. I was a little disappointed about not having a cocktail menu to work off of but once I asked our waiter to make Hennessey Sidecars for the table, we were back on track. I'm glad that I came with my dinner series crew because we had a chance to sample most of the popular dishes. In the end, everything I had was solid but the octopus and halloumi fries were by far my favorite. I understand why the octopus is featured as one of their best dishes and this is my push to give more shine to the halloumi fries. Both were cooked very well, delivered on the flavor, and made me want to order another round. Lastly, I'd like to highlight the lemon roasted potatoes as another underrated star. Went here for a group business dinner and it was amazing! We shared a ton of appetizers and entrees, and everyone couldn't stop raving about how wonderful everything was. Came here for a business dinner and had chicken souvlaki. A bit more in the way of ingredients than I thought so I had to eat around some things but overall it was very good. It was pretty close to the subway, service was definitely on point, ambiance was wonderful and the bathroom was pretty good by NYC standards. Yesterday was our third meal here. My daughter lives in Astoria so we ate there for her birthday. Food is just wonderful. Delicious hot pita bread with homemade hummus is complimentary. My daughter and her husband are vegan so they love this place for the multitude of vegetable side dishes offered. Lemon potatoes, falafel, "giant" beans, a carrot and pea "stew," roasted cauliflower. All large enough to share. I've had the shrimp Santorini in the past, prepared with feta cheese in a slightly spicy tomato sauce. Yesterday I had the moussaka - absolutely delicious and a huge portion. I brought half home. My husband's pork chops were sizzling and juicy, and I tasted my other daughter's grilled salmon. Also just perfect. 5 adults and one child ate for $210 before tip. And that was with 6 or 7 glasses of wine. read more

We ordered the grilled halloumi, green spread, octopus and a salad. The salad is huge and well worth it. Grilled octopus was cooked nicely and it was very tender and seasoned well. I wish it had a little more though. Felt like the onions masqueraded how few pieces of octopus there were. The grilled halloumi came in 4 slices with a bunch of tomatoes and such. Cant really botch that tbh. Cant go wrong with the greek spread either. Their tzatziki was really good and refreshing. I wasn't a huge fan of the roasted pepper dip. Their third dip was very fish roe-y. I really enjoyed that one but I can see how it may be an acquired taste for some people. read more

Went for the first time the other day and while the outside area is really nice to sit outside, the service was horrible and the food was lackluster. The service is what really was horrible. The waiters weren't friendly, didn't ask if we had questions, and worst treated two older ladies with such disrespect. They were across from us and the way the waiters spoke to those older women was horrible. Instead of helping them solve their issue they spoke rudely to them and then acted like kids and then proceeded to gather together clearly gossiping about those women. The bus boy were friendlier than the servers. Food: We ordered the dips, which were fine but only come with 2 pieces of pita when we were a group of 3 so we had to ask for more. We shared the mixed platter, chicken; octopus (small portion for the price), and everything felt very under seasoned. I have been a customer at Aliada for over 20 years. The owner Louis is absolutely amazing and will always go above and beyond for customer satisfaction. The food is always fresh and the chefs are amazing. This is quality Greek & Cypriot cuisine. I don't think anywhere else can match the same quality, hospitality, and overall ambiance. When you get into the restaurant it is like you have stepped through a portal and stepped into Greece or Cyprus. I love their seafood selections, their calamari and octopus is to die for. Definitely a super cute spot on Astoria! If you're in the area you should stop in for a bite. Everyone is super kind and very welcoming, always ready to assist or explain if you have questions. We had a hard time trying to figure out what we wanted to eat and our waitress made a few recommendations. Of course we got all of them! We had the octopus, mussels and shrimp! Each was cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. We also had both desserts, which were also delicious. Every item smelled delicious, the aromas were amazing. If you want pricey Greek food with mediocre service in Astoria this is the place to go. As far as the food was concerned I opted for the Greek salad as a starter and Branzino as a main course with a side of their lemon potatoes and a Baklava and coffee for dessert. The Greek salad was kind of dry, i think it needed more olive oil. The Branzino and lemon potatoes were good. The baklava was good. With regards to the service, or lack of service. Neither the tired runner, or the confused busboy or the busy waiter bothered to bring us any bread, olive oil, vinegar, olives or anything Greek to snack on while we waited for our food. As we were wrapping up our meal the busboy took away my friends plate while he still hadn't finished his food. We also waited for ever to get our check. Overall i would give them 4 stars on food and 2 stars on service rounding out to 3 stars overall. read more

The restaurant has a great food. While a bit pricey for the popular meat dishes $37, the food was very good. However the appetizers are very small. At other Greek restaurants in a Astoria the portion of octopus for appetizer is more generous. Perhaps it's the result of shrinkflation - yes it's a word. Due to the rising costs places of business instead of rising prices, they are reducing the portions. We also had the pork chops and the lamb chops that were delicious, the chicken kabab was good the meat combo platter was a bit of every meat, not quite what I thought it was going to be, but good. I'd go back but will order the plates we found delicious and two orders of octopus to combat the small portion. read more

I ordered worth 80 dollars food which was delivered via uber eats! I did not receive the salad dressing or the Tzatziki. I called spoke to Christian . He said he can send those to me. I called pretty annoyed by now as the food was cold, after over an hr waiting , still dot have my food. I explained to him ! He was unprofessional, I could hear him laugh! He blamed uber eats. How is that their fault? The restaurant didn't put my order in, and the restaurant left the container open. I asked him I want my money back, as the halumi that I had ordered now is plastic like, and the food was cold. I was not gonna wait another 40 min for my order - almost 3 hours later!
