Really classic neighborhood Greek diner with all of the traditional dishes and over-the-top décor I love to see. The souvlaki sandwich was solid, the chicken was crispy and flavorful, nice tzatziki and pita, just a few too many red onions for my taste. Amazing price too and quite filling. The staff were friendly as well. Good amount of seating and not too busy. Would recommend for popping through Astoria.

A hidden gem in the heart of Astoria. Food was very good and generous portions. We had the greek staples of Salad and fried calamari and it all fresh and delicious. Service was excellent and great ambiance. Prices were pretty decent.

Worst service I ever had in a restaurant. The Polish waitress was so unfriendly. I stopped here because I have driven past it a million times and they have a Ukrainian flag and a Greek flag. My ancestry is both. I was happy to see they served Polish beer. There had to be a back story for a Greek Taverna that is pro Ukraine. The waitress couldn't have been more unfriendly. I on the other hand am gregarious, kind, and friendly to all initially. I asked her basic questions and she just looked at me and ignored me. Then she sat down on the other side of the restaurant and never came back. I would have ordered a lot more to eat and drink, but her rudeness ruined my appetite. Greeks are known for their epic hospitality. One would think a Greek taverna, even if it has Mexican cooks and a Polish waitress would try to embody that. When I finished eating, I handed my cash with a minimum tip directly to the cooks and said, "Decent food, horrible service."

A hidden gem. In my opinion one of the best Greek restaurants in Astoria. Food is always fresh and delicious, with attentive service. The owner is also super sweet! The ambience is very quaint and clean - you are transported into an old school taverna. Highly recommend the zucchini fritters with tzatziki - you won't regret it!!

This restaurant serves authentic Greek food that reminded me of my home. (8/10) The ambiance is authentic Greek, and the staff is genuine and experienced, having been in the industry for over 30 years. From the atmosphere to the staff's kindness, and the great tasting dishes, eating here was a great experience.

Pic 1 as advertised Pic 2 reality Not juicy and yummy at all. Tasted liked dried grizzle if that's possible. 40 yrs in astoria never saw chicken looking like this. Place is old and dirty.

Legitimate Greek Food. The waitress recommended the lamb guvecci. The signaling with honey was fantastic!!

This place is delightful! Very fresh Greek food. I ordered takeout with my family and it was seamless. The food was prepared quickly. I haven't been to Greece so I can't speak to the authenticity but it feel authentic to me. For what it's worth.

My brother's girlfriend lives close by so we had an early dinner at Gregory's last week after exploring Astoria some. It's a small place with mostly outside seating and was full by 5:45, so I can envision waits during prime hours. The service was punctual and friendly enough and everything came out fairly quickly. We got a smattering of dishes to share and almost all were fantastic, including 1. Cold potato and garlic dip -- kind of bizarre in that it was basically cold mashed potatoes but it was really tasty; 2. Lemon potatoes -- basic but hearty and delicious; 3. Crab cakes -- a little too much filler but not bad and a good portion for the price; 4. Feta and red pepper dip -- a bit bland as the feta overwhelmed; 5. Cabbage salad -- basically a vinegar-based coleslaw but very tasty And 6. Greek salad with grilled chicken -- my brother's girlfriend asked for this special and apparently they make it for her often. She loved it Definitely will return if I'm craving potatoes in Astoria

I wish I could go back to this place every day. This food was incredible, best octopus I've had in years. The chicken souvlaki was amazing, I want to go back to try everything on the menu. Service was 100000/10. I felt like I was back in Greece, with Greek music playing in the background. Very relaxed atmosphere. Come here if you want authentic Greek food.

The best way to enjoy a certain type of cuisine is go OVER INDULGE. I took my own advise and sat feasting for over an hour ! The food at Gregory's 26 Corner Tavern is so authentic I actually felt like I was eating in a restaurant in Greece . The portions are hearty and tasty . The service is attentive . The food absolutely delicious and freshly made . It is a hidden gem in Astoria , one that must be found by anyone looking for a fulfilling meal . Great indoor and outdoor seating availability. Parking great for Astoria also!

Ive been to Gregory's before and had an amazing experience so I decided to place an order for Greek Easter with Gregory's instead of Stamatis where we usually have our Easter catered . Sadly it was a major disappointment, I ordered three orders of lamb ,which I was told each order of lamb comes with a serving lemon potatoes , when I received the order I received ONE small size of lemon potatoes that was smaller than a normal size order which is $8 and plentiful. Besides the fact the potatoes were very over cooked and stale, they weren't enough to cater for the amount of people I had on Easter being that I ordered THREE orders of lamb and they said each order of lamb comes with order of potatoes . The lamb itself was chewy and dry ,no flavor at all and mostly bone so not enough meat for $40 a serving, instead of giving me a tray per each order of lamb , they added a tray of artichokes and peas , did I ask for that ? It's great if that was added on the side of everything else but it wasn't... it seems it was added instead of the potatoes but I planned my catering based on lamb and lemon potatoes . I'm extremely disappointed as I only have had great experiences here before , but to screw up this badly on a major Greek holiday ,there is no excuse !!! Maybe they should be more clear on the catering menu

This place is all about vibes. Super laidback and I felt like I'm eating at someone's home. Ordered smelts, octopus and dips. tzatziki dip is on point, fresh ingredients with the cold cucumber strips. Octopus grilled without overcook and yet the tentacles are so crispy. Smelts are a good snack. Service is good and quite attentive.

Warning: If you order the special, ask how much it is. My swordfish was $48, I thought that was high for a low-key neighborhood tavern.

Wait time long. Nowhere to wait. Concussion about the ticket system. One host say go ahead the other say wait. Food good but pricey.

My friends and I ordered a bunch of stuff on the menu and it was absolutely wonderful. There is also very delicious complementary dessert. It is a small restaurant so it's very tight. The fried anchovies arrived absolutely drenched in oil, it honestly seemed like it hadn't been properly drained or allowed to sit to let the excess oil run off. The side of potatoes we got was the same story. Drenched in oil. The GRILLED (not fried) fish was even more disappointing. It came sitting in literally A PUDDLE of oil, which completely took away from what should have been a fresh, relatively light fish meal. There were quite a few bones also on the fish. On top of that, our waiter disappeared without notice, and when we were finally ready to pay, we had to wait a long time just to get the check and settle the bill. The fish itself was fresh, but unfortunately, the overall experience did not justify the price or the wait. After waiting over two hours, I expected much better.

The food has always been freshly prepared, in large portions, and cooked quite well. I'm thankful that has not changed much. On my most recent visit, we got a Mix Grilled and Vegetarian Plate to share between four people. There was so much food that we did not have dessert next door as originally planned. Prices are higher nowadays, but you are receiving great value for what you pay. Both chicken shawarma and the beef kufta from the Mix Grilled tasted great, especially with the provided zesty white sauce. I also added hot sauce to mine, which made it more satisfying. The chicken kebab was not bad, it had a nice char, but slightly dry. All of the accompanying humus (a bit salty), salad, rice, and garlic pita were excellent too. For the Vegetarian Plate, though good, I would like the falafels to be fluffier. The best things I enjoyed on the plate was the fried eggplants and baba ghanosh. It also comes with cous cous, which was good. Fresh middle eastern cuisine, made with quality ingredients and care, this restaurant may not be my first choice in Astoria because it's not as sexy as some of the other offerings, but I'm glad that they are still around when I just want a quality meal at a reasonable price.

It was pretty quiet inside, outside of the TV playing somewhat loud highlights from the World Cup on loop (why,) with the servers and staff being helpful and friendly. In comparison to the other pick-your-own seafood spots like AbuQir or Hamido, the spices are a tad lighter here, being almost closer to Astoria Seafood, minus the olive oil. I didn't mind, though, as the fish was all fresh and perfectly prepared. To drink, our table stuck with water, though there are a few mocktails and some sodas, including some Algerian ones. They put down some simple bread with a bit of garlic and herbs, which was refilled. For non-seafood dishes, we had a few. The first was the $8 Hmiss, or Hammis, a dip made with roasted pepper, tomato, and garlic sautéed in olive oil. The warm dish was earthy and garlicky, and went perfectly with the bread, with the flavor reminding me of a warmer version of some Turkish eggplant dips. There was also the Peasant Salad for $12, with cucumber, tomato, red onion, and Kalamata olives topped with feta, oregano, and dill. If you're familiar at all with Horiatiki/Village salad, it's basically the same thing, though with crumbled feta instead of a block, and it was refreshing and tasty. Finally, we eventually got an $8 side order of Basil Garlic Mashed Potatoes, which were decent. The first seafood to arrive at the table was the $16.99 Algerian Sardines, which consisted of sardines from Morocco with a spice mixture. The man in front recommended them fried, and the portion was nice, and the flavor was excellent. The fish was fried perfectly, with the bones fried enough that the entirety of it could be eaten. This was delicious, and one of the highlights of the meal. As we loved these sardines, we eventually got a small order of the other option, the "Marinated Sardines" from Spain. These were a bit more expensive by weight, being $10.56 for 0.48 pounds, but by comparison, these were much flatter and larger. The half pound consisted of three large pieces, which were broken down and divided among the group. While I slightly preferred the spices from the Algerian version, I liked the texture of these more, as they were more meaty. I don't think you can go wrong with either, as both were excellent. There was also one pound of Mussels for $17.99, which was available in one of two cooking preparations, Moules Marinière or a version with tomato sauce, herbs, and feta. I went with the latter, and they were excellent, with all of the mussels being open. The feta added a unique, slightly salty touch, with the broth being delicious. They had brought us out some extra bread, and we made good use of it. If I were here alone, I might have this along with some sardines and leave very happy. We also got two whole fish, which were both ordered grilled and butterflied. First was the Dorado, or Orata, for $29.24 for 1.54 pounds. As is typical for this fish, it was delicate and light, but had plenty of flavor. The other was the American Red Snapper, which was a bit more expensive at $37.90 for 1.58 pounds. By comparison, this fish was a lot thicker and therefore, a bit more flavorful. We enjoyed both, with a slight preference going towards the cheaper fish for most outside of me and one other. Another highlight was the Scallops for $37.23 for 0.98 pounds, which came out to 14 large pieces. As recommended, we got these sautéed, with the scallops coming in a delicious garlicky juice on the bottom with plenty of other herbs. The scallops were tender while staying plump, though I slightly preferred the more caramelized tops at AbuQir, with these having a more uniform texture. The rest of the people liked what I couldn't eat, the $24.99 Octopus for around half a pound. The octopus came out pre-cut, which made splitting it very easy. I can't comment much on the flavor or saltiness as some other reviewers brought up, or else I'd be in the hospital right now post-anaphylaxis, but people liked it a lot. If you don't want to bother with the lines or crowds at the other fish spots, I would highly recommend going here. The fish is fresh, perfectly prepared, and seasoned just enough to highlight the natural flavors. I would go back.
