First impressions: the space is cozy and tastefully decorated, with decor that feels authentic at first glance. The host was attentive, and we were seated right away--always a good start. I was a little surprised when the server handed us the menus and we opened the front flap to discover... tablets. That said, I actually appreciated the photos of each menu item--it made ordering easier and faster. Now, the food. Hands down, this was the best Mediterranean food I've had in the U.S. We ordered the chicken shawarma tacos and a side of falafel. The falafel was soft on the inside (not dry at all) and crispy on the outside, sitting in a bed of the smoothest tahini cream I've ever tasted--and I don't even like tahini. The chicken was incredibly flavorful, and every bite actually had chicken. No skimping on the protein here. The pita pocket was small but soft and fresh, not dry. Best part: the chicken taco came with small sides of hummus, baba ganoush, creamed tahini, and finely chopped tomatoes and cucumbers. Boom. Every single element was delicious. One downside: there's only one restroom, it's small, and while it's tastefully decorated, it could have used a bit more attention. Would I go back? 100% yes. I honestly wish I could teleport this place back home with me so I could become a regular. read more

My boyfriend and I came and we got the Mezze Trio and a Shawarma Wrap. The waitress was really nice and took great care of us. The hot apple cider was amazing. We tired it both with and without wine. I also love the little leaves in the vases. read more

Valentine's dinner that really didn't hit as well as it should've. All my food looked tasty but it wasn't quite the flavor that I'd expect. Sometimes hummus has that bitter aftertaste. Not all restaurants have that but this is sadly one of them. Like Mamoun's Falafel. I got the hummus kitchen plate with four different hummus (chicken, beef, garbanzo beans, and plain) but it all tasted fine. Could use more oil I think. The beef was my favorite. The senya shakshuka was creamy and good but again could've used more flavor. The French bread was just ok. We got the cauliflower appetizer and that also had a bitter taste. A little burnt taste it felt like. The service was exceptional. They were super friendly. They threw in fries for us (which were my favorite dish of the meal). Super salty, flavor, and hot. Went to Hummus Kitchen on the Upper East Side with my cousin and mom; had a really nice time. I ordered the chicken shawarma on pita and a Mosquito cocktail during happy hour. The food was fresh and filling, and the half priced cocktails were a great deal. Service was quick, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere felt relaxed and comfortable. I was in the area and was looking for some middle eastern food and decided to try Hummus Kitchen. I had the Falafel Lunchbox special and it was delicious. It came with Your choice of protein and was serviced with majadra rice, hummus , cuke/onion/tomato salad and pita. The salad was well marinated and so flavorful. Often I feel like these salads don't have enough infusion of flavor but this one was fantastic! The hummus was creamy smooth and delicious. The pita was soft and amazing. The falafel sat on top of a bed of a veggie and tahini that added a nice contrast. The majadra rice was also very good! It is a lot of food. Small kosher Israeli spot with a few tables outdoors if you choose. Salmon lunch special was perfect . Salmon was cooked as requested (rare) with creamy humus , rice and delicious assortment of grilled veggies. I had the mazze trio (pick 3) - babaganoush, Israeli salad and grape leaves which were a bit different than I'm used to. These had meat and were sprinkled with pomegranate seeds. Very good and tasty. I went for dinner and ordered the charred eggplant, falafel taco, and seni'ya taco. Overall, the food was okay, but not worth the Google ratings hype. I also didn't think that the price matched what was served for the charred eggplant ($17) -- it was mostly a ton of tahini poured over a small charred eggplant and about 6 pita chips spread throughout the dish. I thought the tahini was overpowering and the 6 countable pita chips too few to eat the eggplant; especially if the pita chips are supposed to be the vessel to carry the eggplant. You get two "tacos" per order. They are like two small pita pockets. The falafel looked dry, whereas the seni-ya (ground beef and lamb) was flavorful. I got the Chicken Kabob Platter for dinner which was kinda standard. The chicken I felt like didn't have that classic Mediterranean Kabob flavor and texture to it, but it was fine. I liked the red sauce that came with it. The rice on the other hand was amazing and very fragrant. I absolutely loooooved the Hummus here. It was so light and smooth and generally balanced with a little tang to it, and the chickpeas were very soft. Strange to write an update less than a week after my initial review. Our first visit was for dinner. Today's was lunch with a friend. A number of restaurants generate business with lunch specials. Hummus Kitchen is no different. Check out my photo; you choose a main which comes with hummus, salad, rice and pita, served together on a segmented plate. My friend and I each ordered salmon. I was a little concerned cause I prefer mine medium rare and she does not. "It'll come out overcooked," I thought to myself. But NO! Both orders of salmon were prepared as requested, and simply delicious. Hummus is creamier and infinitely better than the packaged kind most of us are familiar with. The salad was great, grilled vegetables and beets a good touch. The rice .... well, not everything's a winner. I like this little restaurant, and will most assuredly return. read more

Pretty good brunch deal for $22, includes entree and small appetizer. We shared the shakshuka which had a great flavor, slightly spicy, and the French toast with halva, fruit, date honey was delicious. HK has been a mainstay of the UES for over a decade. The food is consistently excellent. It's a cozy space that we've preferred to visit when it's not completely packed. Over the many years the staff has of course changed but everyone we've met has always been friendly, helpful and prompt. Standout dishes include the Moroccan laffa wrap and the shakshuka. read more

Got new things coming back here, still my favorite hummus place - Mediterranean chicken: this came with the freya bread and so tender. The sauce said that it was spicy, but didn't think that was the case. It was much more tomato based than I expected, similar to shakshuka - The shakshuka senya was still good, and came with a bread I didn't recognize. Not my favorite but certainly the portion size was Plentiful for everything. read more

My office catered this for a work lunch. Everything tasted great that I'd come here for a dinner sometime. The chicken breast looked thin so I'd be nervous it would be overcooked, but it actually was delicious and juicy - I'm impressed how good it was for catering. The order was mishandled, the app status was misleading, my driver's time was wasted, and I was left without dinner late at night. Really disappointing service.

The Halibut was so-so, according to my wife. It was a bit bland. The vegetables that came with it was delicious. Overall, it was not a bad experience. But the quality didn't justify the price, IMHO. It's Kosher, so that may mean something to others. Some people may like it there. We were like... ehhh.

However, it tasted like it had been reheated rather than cooked fresh. The bone was not hot and the fat was not fully rendered or caramelized, which took away from the overall experience. It was not bad, but it missed the mark for the price point. Service was good, which helped the experience. But, with so many solid steakhouse options in NYC, this is not a place I would go out of my way to return to.

For dinner, we were given a choice of three appetizers: roasted caufliower, lamb riblets, or brussel sprouts with lamb bacon; a choice of four entrees: duck confit risotto, ora king salmon with coconut curry, tournedos au poivre, or cote do boeuf. The three dessert options were apple streudel, affogato "al caffe", and key lime pie. I ordered brussel sprouts, duck, and key lime pie, and Eric R. got lamb riblets, ora king salmon, and apple streudel. I think he regretted offering me a lamb riblet because it was ridiculously tender and melted in my mouth. What is truly amazing is this is a meat restaurant, so the ice cream, risotto, gnocchi, and other dishes that we think of as dairy-based were non-dairy, and still completely amazing! It was definitely the fanciest kosher restaurant I have even been to in my life. The restaurant was so packed that we could not hear most of the speeches, which were given into a microphone attached to a small speaker near the bride's and groom's family's table. I do not fault the restaurant for its popularity though! The menu is really fun so I think it would be cool to return here for a special occasion. It is also located in midtown Manhattan which is very convenient for transportation. B'teavon!

I'm not sure if they let you serve yourself to more, but I'd definitely want more of the hot sauce. 2nd - I didn't taste any spice in the spicy rice. I'm not sure if, again, due to the fast production that it all just taste like regular rice? but didn't see what the hype was there. 3rd - I genuinely think the white sauce is what brings it all together. The chicken was OK to me. I didn't think it was anything special, and would give it a 3 out of 5. texture was OK, flavor was OK... the lamb definitely stole the show. The lamb was absolutely flavorful and full of delicious spices. This reminded me of what I've had in Dubai. Very rich in flavor and just the perfect amount of spices. Overall, I think if you wait for your food to cool down like 20 minutes, you'll get to taste the flavors more. Everything hot together, for me, just didn't allow me to really absorb all the food. But the rice was your average rice. Pita was deliciously soft and pillowy which complemented the white sauce. Chicken was ok. had an OK texture; nothing life changing. lamb was fantastic, and fries were just fries (nothing memorable). For a NYC experience, a 1-time, 50 minute wait is acceptable. And, for $13, that's pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. I would eat it again if the line was 5 minutes. Otherwise, I'm positive you will find similar food/better food elsewhere.

The pepperoni was about an 8/10. Very good slice of pizza. Nothing noteworthy to me though and no better than other slices I had. A very good piece of pizza. The fig jam bacon was more like a 7-7.5/10. The amount of toppings was lacking. The bites that did have toppings were quite good. Better than the pepperoni. Unfortunately, there were few bites like that. This is very good pizza. It's not the best in the city. Far from it.

Of the 6 slice spots I had, this was by far the best tasting dough/crust. I had an audible reaction when tasting the crust. Extremely good. Unfortunately, the pizza had too much sauce. It was overwhelming. Simply too much sauce. I could only have about half before giving up. Both sauces tasted good, but the vodka sauce was so loaded that it was hard to taste anything else. A shame because this had potential to be a great score.

Our wait was at least an hour and a half and were texted when our table was ready. They have indoor and outdoor seating with one bathroom for all to use. We got the viral pancakes and they were everything you'd dream they be and then some for sure very filling and buttery. I got a "pick me up" and it was perfect gave me a beautiful caffeine kick to start the day I recommend for sure. Weather you come for the viral moment this feels like a solid staple in the community with bright music playing everyone kind of everywhere and just a relaxed feel that you can't wait to enjoy after you get seated. Bathroom rating 5/5 very clean for how busy the place is :)

We ordered the famous honey butter pancakes, the korean wings, and the breakfast sandwich with hash brown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. The honey butter pancakes were pretty good but kinda drenched in the butter that made it hard to finish. The korean wings were also alright but the batter to me was kinda thick and heavy and lacked crispiness. The best item we ordered was the breakfast sandwich with hashbrown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. I think the eggs are cooked with cheese, and as someone who typically does not eat cheese, I didn't mind it. I don't know if I'll be back again - I think the concept of an asian twist on the classic diner does sound intriguing but difficult to execute. I also wasn't a big fan of the wait time. If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!

It's one of the larger stalls in the market and has some seating, but not enough, and the market seating is very limited as well. I ordered the hibiscus lemonade and the very spicy Dan Dan Mian. I loved watching the staff prepare the noodles while waiting. My bowl was huge and absolutely delicious. It was very spicy as promised, but not too spicy that it was rendered not enjoyable. I looked at other orders and everything looked delicious, leading to only semi-regret of my choice. My lemonade was very good. I'm very much looking forward to returning.

The broth was too salty for me but I just didn't drink it and it made all the other ingredients taste good. Pretty good portion for the price too. My bf got the lamb version and they didn't give him much lamb so I'd go with the beef. If you're looking for a quick tasty bite this place is it!
