I wanted to try a sabich sandwich and learned about Grill Point after doing an on-line search. It was merely a short walk away from my office on the UES. I got there and the staff went out of their way to humiliate me, playing dumb when I asked about sabich (which was on the menu), mocking me when I asked if I could try the Yemenite soup, after asking what was in it and they again played dumb. They acted as if they were trying out for a lead in a MEAN GIRLS revival and I felt like I was being chosen last for basketball in gym. I ended up gettng a sabich. It was mediocre, bland, and tasteless, but inoffensive. Unlike the staff. The food is overpriced for the offerings, but in the median range for a kosher cafe. One of my friends swears by this place so I was very excited to try it out. After looking at the menu, you order by the side desk and then they will call your number to build your shawarma, sandwich, etc. When we went on a weekday night, there was quite a bit of people which I was very surprised about. I ordered a lamb + turkey laffa with every topping. I was surprised at how big the laffa was as it could've lasted me 2 meals. I appreciate the pickles as they were able to cut through the meaty and saucy-ness of the dish. I felt like the rest of the meats and toppings were pretty basic. I will say that because it is Kosher, the price is quite high - $22 per laffa - and if you don't eat Kosher normally not sure if it is super worth it. Hot off the grill shawarma with 5 toppings all rolled into a large bread or pita. The food is fresh, well seasoned, and portions are huge! Considering the neighborhood it's surprising that the flavors are pretty solid. Definitely better taste than other options for shawarma for the area. However be forewarned that it is kosher which unfortunately means 4-5 times the price of non kosher competitors so that part is really annoying, but at least the quality of the food delivers. It's so expensive that I will often go to queens or travel much farther to get more value. Nevertheless their amba is legit, the schug is made fresh and has the right balance of heat and seasoning, all the salads are solid, the pita is nice and fluffy and the shawarma itself is respectable and closer to the real stuff unlike other places that are giving you the based on the idea version of shawarma that is essentially a chicken wrap with turmeric. Don't sleep on Grill Point- they're my new FAVORITE middle eastern restaurant in Manhattan! You choose your protein (lots of options for vegetarians and meat lovers!) then choose if you want a sandwich (pita or laffa) or as a bowl. Bowls can have a base of salad, rice, cous cous etc., The green falafels smelled amazing so I chose the falafel bowl. My friend had the young chicken shawarma , she said she doesnt even like shawarma but loved theirs after trying it off of her husband's plate. While your protein cooks, you choose your salads, The vegetables are also SO fresh and very well seasoned. There is no limit on how many you choose and no extra charge- so try them all! My favorites: fried eggplant, cabbage, beets and the Israeli salad! Bowls come with a fresh warm bread- choose between homemade laffa bread or pita. The falafels are very good, with a perfect garlicy flavor. It was a huge portion and I will definitely be back for more. They have a cooler with drinks to choose from, water, soda, juice and tea. I appreciated that they had peach snapple both diet and regular. While there are only two counter tops for bar seating inside, they also have an outdoor cabin and additional tables out front for outdoor dining. I will be back to try the chicken and laffa! I will say I had enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow and the flavors taste just as delicious cold as they so warm and fresh! Every bite was better than the next, my actual question is where are they sourcing their produce? Seriously the freshest sweetest tomatoes and onions I've had in a loong time. Had a bowl with schnitzel and some really delicious sides - like hummus, grilled vegetables, israeli salad. I was pretty impressed. only thing i didn't live was the laffa, which seemed kind of bland. Grill Point on Lexington is very new. I went in to check it out one day when I saw someone sitting in the window. It turns out she was the receptionist and she immediately got up to greet me. I told her I wanted to photograph and check out the menu and she was receptive. This place has everything modern and sanitary. There's a unisex restroom and modern check out registers. You can sit at the windows on a stool or dine in the outdoor enclosed shed on the street. I found the menu moderately priced. There's plenty of variety and they are family conscious offering a kids menu. I thought the kids menu was pricey. The food is fresh and the cooks hard at work. They're not busy in the morning during the week. While I'm not familiar with many of the food items I intend to return to experiment. Until then I'll stick with the Avocado Smash and side salad. read more

So funny story... I was on my way to college and a random man on the street gave me a menu for this place. A new Middle Eastern and Kosher restaurant close to my college? Was intrigued and had to check it out. So glad that I did. Overall, I was impressed! The restaurant is set up like this. You order your food at the counter and hand them your ticket afterwards. (Though, I was not aware of this until after I waited a while for my order. Service could be improved). Then you can request as many toppings as you'd like in your meal. There's some seating inside, but there's nicely decorated outdoor seating as well. They also have a kids menu. Something for everyone! Feeling hungry for lunch, I ordered myself a Chicken Shawarma with laffa bread and requested hummus, tahini, diced tomatoes, and cucumbers to be added inside. The shawarma was so delicious!! Hands down, one of the best I've ever had in NYC. The meat was flavorful, cooked perfectly, and all of the ingredients went so well together. Everything was served warm and tasted freshly made. Now I'm craving some more laffa bread! The price was a bit high, though the huge portion made up for it. I also ordered an Israeli salad on the side, which complemented the food well. Been coming here for months now and now they are being difficult about fries. You place is already expensive and you now want to tell me because I got something to-go I can't have fries, that I have to stay and eat there. Worst part is even after I said I can eat there you tried to charge me. I've prob spend $500 here this year and this the first time I have had problems. Poor customer service. It's not cheap, but each item could probably feed 2 people if you're getting a laffa wrap. Service is stupid. The cashier gives you a ticket when you pay, then have you give the ticket to the guy preparing your food so he can figure out how you want it prepared. He's 1 foot away from cashier who gave you the ticket, and if you're a short person, you'll have to figure out how to attract their attention by reaching over the glass counter. If you got a pita, they might pile all the non meat toppings UNDER the meat so you get a soggy mess of condiments under the meat with no even distribution. Solve this by spending even more on the Laffa wrap or bowl. read more

Before Covid I used to pay $5 for falafel downtown and $12 for shawarma in midtown. $18 is f***ing insane. After you order it's total chaos. You have to loiter around waiting for them to call your number, then you have to tell them what you want on the sandwich. Can't you just standardize the toppings then ask if we want tahini or hummus or hot peppers like every other place in New York? This is not the first time Grill Point didn't deliver. Their app says 3 minutes away, 2 minutes away, 1 minute away, back to 3 minutes away, etc. When it says they finally delivered; they didn't. I live in a big building on Park Avenue with a doorman. The doorman says they did not deliver. I call Grill Point and I am told ' I am sorry. There is nothing I can do. We'll give you a refund. I don't want the refund I want my dinner. I am starving. Sorry all we can do is give you a refund. As much as I like their food I cannot order from them any longer since they don't deliver & didn't even attempt to make up for it and rush a replacement order. Very bad business practice. read more
