We had a great meal at Elias Corner! The place is very nice and cozy, but also intimate if you're thinking about a cute date spot - like your neighborhood best family restaurant. We came here with our friends whom we haven't seen in a long while and were super happy with our dinner! Service was great - waitress was super patient in explaining how the ordering works (you order up front where you can see the seafood and veggie selections based on the daily menu), and what was on the menu (super impressive that she knew everything from memory). Food wise - seafood in general were all very fresh and grilled to perfection. The flavors were not super salty and are flavorful enough for you to appreciate the freshness and quality of the raw ingredients. I especially liked the grilled calamari - I am usually not a super big fan of fried calamari, so these grilled ones are awesome. The grilled octopus came next and was very flavorful and tender. For our main seafood, we ordered whole fish with bone - one black sea bass and one brazino - personally I liked the branzino more because it has more fat in the meat, so was softer in texture. I forgot to take a picture of the Tzatziki sauce but it was really good too! Goes really well with the bread on the house. I also really liked the Loukoumades (basically fried dough balls with syrup and cinnamon powder) that we had for dessert. Drinkwise - we ordered a pint (half a bottle) of chardonnay, and it went really well with the seafood. Strongly recommend if you don't have any dietary restrictions. Been coming here for 20 years now since I was little (sounds so scary to say that ew I'm old). Just as good as I remember!! The fish is so fresh, the sides are incredible and the wine is great!! Nothing to complain about. Extremely quick service in a non pretentious setting can't ask for more. We ordered the fried zucchini, fried potatoes, whiting, branzino, assortment of dips and Greek salad. Everything was great but the potatoes especially. Had to order an extra round at the end to accompany the fish. The whiting also was perfectly cooked-- crispy but still moist. They treated us to a nice birthday treat at the end as well. It's not a traditional restaurant experience, there no menu and it is a little overwhelming at first. In my experience, everyone was very nice and helpful. All the fish was super high quality and the portion sizes were very generous. With that in mind, it's not a cheap night out. However, I think the prices are in line with other restaurants in the area. We sat outside on the patio, on (high quality) plastic furniture that you'd find in someone's backyard. When we walked out there I was pretty apprehensive at first, but I found it to be very comfortable and a nice atmosphere. The only knock I'd give them was that (despite them not being very busy) they were a little slow with the water refills. But if that's my only complaint, I don't know if I can really call it a complaint. read more

The time it took for the food to come was pretty average. But what tempted me to make this 2 star review was the fact that the management was trying to rush me out when the saw that I had BARELY eaten my food. Having a laughable ratio of waitstaff to customers became more and more obvious as we ate here last evening. When you show the customer that you don't care how long it takes for basic items like greeting people sitting down, bringing the check, not having to repeat the order 3x each time items are missing and you come back to check again...just feels super sloppy and unpleasant experience overall. Lemon potatoes have been enjoyed at numerous real Greek restaurants including in Greece -- these were embarrassing to call Greek lemon potatoes, burnt and lacking in good taste. Lima beans had watered down tomato sauce and small portion. Saving grace was fish grilled very well. Still not clear why any lettuce is inside a Greek salad -- seems like a strange flex for a place operating like it's still 1983. The no menu idea is moronic and if you are seated comfortably in a restaurant as a customer, (pay attention as an owner here) making someone get up to go look at a bunch of boards you posted and take pictures to show the rest of your table is a solid F-. Your cheapness and sheer disregard for people spoils it for returning. read more

The grilled sardines were perfect but lemon potatoes dish was just ok , due to the luck of appropriate acidity. It was bland . Taramasala was good but eggplant appetizer wasn't flavorful or had a freshly made taste at all . Tzatziki was way to garlicky to my taste, not well balanced at all. The waiter was friendly and attentive but not trained properly to refill glasses as needed . I still left a good tip because it wasn't his fault I believe. The ambience of this establishment is very outdated. The 99c store plastic flowers as a part of decor , tables covered by some kind of pc of "pee wee" proof sheets and $30 plus for fish is not going to make me to come back. For the uninitiated, Elias Corner might just look like one of the many Greek restaurants all throughout Astoria. But dig a little deeper and one will find a seafood specialty spot that is unpretentious and perfect for family / group dining. Come for the seafood, but stay for the fun. (#1) Prior to the pandemic, part of their charm was being in a fairly intimate (read: cramped) spot with a number of other parties all sandwiched into a room. The interior was as old school as the people working there. Their patio setup is ideal for the current times and frankly the better seating option. Their mantra of "no menus, just fish" is a pretty refreshing, no frills approach. They serve their catches of the day and/or specials, which are usually displayed for all to see before sitting down. Some constants include their branzini, grilled octopus, and whiting / sardines. Enjoy them with a greek salad, lemon potatoes, tzatziki + taramosalata dip, and that's a near perfect meal. I appreciate the "keep it real" vibe from the wait staff and sometimes it's worth calling in ahead of time to ensure certain fishes are available. Occasionally they surprise folks with some rare catches but with the right expectations, it can always be a good experience. You have to understand Astoria, Greece, and the Greek scene in the neighborhood to understand Elias. This is a no-frills, no menu fish market. What they have that day is what you get. Yes, service isn't up to par, but you don't come for that. What you come for is some of the freshest seafood and a delicious dinner. My friend and I stumbled in after some day drinking at the beer garden across the street. We shared the tzatziki appetizer, grilled sea bass entree ($40 for a massive portion that could feed four people), the fried zucchini, and a carafe of white wine, of course. The food was outstanding, and there was lots of it. We devoured it all but it could've easily fed a lot more than two people. The prices are hefty but worth every penny. Between the two of us we paid $70 for dinner and it was well worth it. The food is SO fresh, so simple, and so clean, just the way Greek food should be. At 7pm on a Saturday we lucked out with no wait, but a half hour later there was quite a crowd. Great spot! read more

Octopus for $25 is competitively priced and probably the best item we had all night. Our snapper, lightly grilled and barely seasoned, came out to be $120!!!!For just one fish! It is a Greek fish restaurant with no menu, a casual, family place with dishes that are perfect for sharing. The fish is fresh and prepared simply, not over powered with heavy sauces. We always order the grilled octopus and chopped salad. On a recent visit we had soft shell crabs and they were the best I've ever had. Even the simple grilled zucchini was great. In warm weather there is outdoor dining in the back (and a small parking lot). Service can be slow but post-pandemic everyone is short staffed so just be understanding and relax and enjoy yourself. read more

Went here today for my aunts birthday. Unfortunately it was a disappointing experience for me. There are some good things about it like a small private parking lot behind the restaurant and outdoor seating, the food was pretty good too but it was a little unsanitary and our waitress wasn't the best. My glass of water came with a lipstick stain on it and the tables weren't cleaned in front of us (during these weird covid times that should be a thing) they just put cloths over a sticky table. The waitress argued with another coworker right in front of our table which was very awkward and unprofessional. She wasn't also very friendly, just seemed annoyed to be there. A few of the group got the Red Snapper which was really good. I got the Chilean Seabass Steak which was good but WAY too oily. They also aren't serving dessert during these times on a side note... My new favorite restaurant. I have seen this place for many years and never ventured in until about 2 months ago with my wife and then every Friday for a month. The grilled calamari is amazing. The Greek salad is a great deal; fresh and vibrant. In fact if you are looking for a light meal for 2 you cant go wrong with the grilled calamari, the Greek salad and a carafe of white wine. The seafood is fresh. When you walk in you'll see everything that is available - that's the menu. The servers are friendly. Its a great vibe. I've met the owner and her son, both very nice people. Elias Corner is one of our favorite restaurants in Astoria. Honestly, I regret not trying out Elias Corner earlier! This eatery is no frills and no menu. Everything they offer is fresh and simply done. Upon walking in, the waitstaff might ask if it is your first time. Then, she/he might proceed with an explanation that there is no menu, except the sides of the day would be on a chalk board above the display fridge. The fridge will house the variety of fishes that one can order, grilled or fried. You don't have to check out the fridge in order to order your meal (but it is also absolutely OK if you wish to), since the waitstaff will tell you what is available once you sit down and settle in. The service at Elias Corner is not doting, yet we always find them reasonably pleasant and practical. The food is really good here, not because of some haute culinary technique, but because of the freshness and simple seasoning. The fish are fresh, otherwise they wouldn't be available. The prices are quite fair, so despite me being skeptical on the lack price labeling, we always manage to have a good and quick conversation with the waitstaff in figuring out the weight and estimated cost of the fish we order. I highly recommend getting a salad and of course, the grilled octopus. Tender, juicy and perfectly charred. Good portion at an unbeatable price in neighborhood (Astoria Seafood might be cheaper but the ambiance and setting is less than Elias Corner). For fish this fresh, one would ideally opt for grilled over fried. As for sides, the grilled vegetables are delicious. The place is CASH ONLY. So come prepared and enjoy! read more

The oysters were only $9 for 6 which was so worth it and they're pretty big too! This restaurant is a family restaurant, doesn't have a menu, can only choose grilled or fried but their use of olive oil and Mediterranean spices to create dishes are just phenomenal!
