There are convenient ordering iPads. They were super easy to us and we were able to use our "tap and pay". Since we just looking for a snack we order the large French fry and the large hummus. The French fries were plentiful and cooked to a nice golden crisp. The hummus was a generous portion and served with a pita. The hummus was nicely flavored and garlicky-yum. Our cousin who went to UC Davis told us about Ali Baba and their breakfast burritos which are served all day. He made it sound good so we walked on over to the spot. Although they have a register in the front, no one is around so you have to use the tablets to place an order. They only have two breakfast burritos; one with gyro and the other is vegetarian. I ordered the gyro meat burrito as-is, sliced in half (which is an additional 75 cents. LOL). Food came out fairly quickly. It seems like they already have everything pre-made and just put it together. Upon opening my burrito, I was extremely disappointed. In fact, I was pretty upset around the cousins who seemed to enjoy their burrito. My burrito consisted of 90% potatoes. I hardly had any gyro and the tiniest bits of scrambled eggs. I visited this location late Sunday morning with a rather large group. The kitchen seemed pretty busy but it was very convenient to be able to self order on the tablets at the door. I got the breakfast burrito and substituted the eggs for avocado at no charge -- definitely appreciated this! Our group did bombard the kitchen with almost 10 orders so understandably we had to wait a bit. This was a very heavy meal. Our group had a little debate about the honey(?) in the burrito. I personally liked it with the spice, but maybe get it on the side or omit if you're unsure. I can see this as a late night snack spot/establishment that is well loved by college students. Most known for their breakfast burrito, but the burrito is also good for lunch or dinner too. Always get the sauces on the counter, goes well with the burrito. I've tried both the meat and veggie burrito, in my opinion, I think the meat one is slightly dry without the sauces on the counter. As for the veggie burritos, I add bacon, the burrito is very moist, slightly sweet from the honey, but really delicious. From my friends, I heard that the stores give you an already burrito. Since I had added bacon to my veggie burrito, I wait about 10 minutes for my burrito. So so sad to say that I didn't enjoy the burritos here. I've been waiting to try this place out since I've moved to Davis and I finally had the opportunity today. I ordered the classic breakfast burrito (comes with eggs, potatoes, cheese, gyro meat, bacon [I opted for no bacon], honey, and tapatio). Let's just say that I could only taste two of the ingredients in there, pure potato and a hint of egg. There was a single thin sliver of gyro meat that extended throughout the entire burrito, and honestly I didn't taste it at all. It was densely packed with fries and eggs, which are both very bland on their own. As I got the the bottom quarter of the burrito it was purely tortilla and potato, so I didn't end up finishing. I've been holding onto this stamp card for almost 3 YEARS. I don't go to Ali Baba very often, as it is a treat for myself on occasion. Not to mention, COVID closed campus so naturally, as a student I haven't been on campus very much the past 2 years anyways. I walked into today very excited to be back in school for the first time in 2 months, only to be told they don't accept the stamp card anymore. I was told by the cashier that they had a sign up for a month stating the stamp card would be expiring, but campus has been closed for the past two months for winter break and COVID related closures. I asked her to add the points from my card to the new rewards program, and she said she couldn't do that either. I asked to speak to a manager or the restaurant owner, and she said no one else was there, and there was nothing she could do. It was super crowded when we came in for lunch around 11 AM on a Saturday. It remained crowded throughout the entire time. Luckily, we grabbed a table in the corner to eat. I have been to Ali Baba three times now and I would say, based on my visits, it's overrated. Service is great, but the food leaves much to be desired. Breakfast burrito - This is what they're known for and is what most people get. In fact, they pre make the burritos constantly so they can just pump them out. This also means that it's almost never made to order and if you want any modifications to your burrito or get something else, it'll take significantly longer to get your food. The burrito itself is pretty average. They put a lot of UNSEASONED potatoes so that's the main flavor you're gonna get. There's little in any other of the (pricier) ingredients. Really, the burrito just serves as a medium to put sauce onto. I just think $9 for it isn't worth it, but at least it's a good amount of carbs and it'll fill you up.
