Nico Special!

Was passing through Davis and wanted pizza. Saw this place and let me tell you the food didn't disappoint. There was plenty of toppings on the pizza, the crust was amazing. The staff was very friendly, and the place was clean. Would definitely come back here again.

Veggie pizza - best in town
Ron R.

*** Vegetarian Review *** You wouldn't think anything of this place by the looks of the shopping center. Grocery Outlet, Goodwill, Dollar Tree, and a laundry mat ... the value-quadruplet of stores and then there's Symposium. Plenty of shared parking with inside and outside seating, this place has the best pizza in town. Yeah, they have a full menu of soups/salads, Greek classic appetizers and main dish specialities, but in the 10+ years I've been coming here, I've never found a need to order anything else beyond pizza. Would I Come Back Test? Heck yeah. When we have visitors and they think, "hey, this is a college town. Let's order pizza." Sorry Woodstock's, Symposium is our go-to place to show off the town. Comparisons: There are none. Nothing compares to their crust. It's almost like eating a pastry pie. 3 Tips for First-Timers: 1) Pizzas can take up to 45-60 minutes to order (non-Covid times) so think ahead. 2) They have two separate eating areas inside -- a good place to hold a large party for graduations or birthday parties. 3) Outside seating is available Large #18, Vegetarian Special ($20.99, Grade A+): All the regular veggies; mushrooms, green peppers, olives, onions, and fresh-sliced tomatoes placed on the pizza after it comes out of the oven. The difference is the crust that lays the foundation to elevate all these ordinary ingredients to an extra ordinary bite. It's like no other pizza I've tried. Just like Detroit Style pizza has a unique quality, this ... dare I say "Greek Style" pizza has no rivals. It's more like a really savory pastry crust ... possibly very lightly buttered to add flavor, but I can't attest to it. Has a pan-style feel, but only if the pan-style pizza was made by a baker and not a pizzeria. If you can, eat it there. There is a difference. Eating in allows the crust to remain crunchy. Taking it home, the steam from the closed pizza box doesn't do the crust any favors texturally, but the flavor remains intact. I enjoy the light layer of red sauce on the pizza and they always cook the pizza long enough so the cheese gets a nice darkened color. Not quite burned, but a few minutes more and it would turn to the burn-side. Just a delicious pizza and a large can easily feed 3 adults. Bottom Line: High quality and a unique pizza. Once you've had Symposium, you quickly realize there are different levels of pizza. The kind of stuff you get on the corner to just satisfy your pizza cravings and the kind you invite your family and friends to eat as a meal.

Half Spinach Three Cheese and half Spicy Greek medium pizza takeout
Michelle L.

I first was introduced to Symposium during my post-UCD days when they catered to my first job out of college. I had a mad craving and made the evening drive to pickup a phone-in order to go. Michelle's must-order: Peasant Salad, 1/2 and 1/2 Gourmet Greek Pizza (#20 Spanakotrio Pizza which has spinach and 3 cheeses; and #23 Spicy Greek which has pepperoncini, crushed red peppers, olives, onions, garlic, and feta cheese). Delish. The level of Spicy that the Spicy Greek turns out to be is always a surprise! Don't know why, but I don't love the meat pizzas here as much as the above veggie ones! They're deep dish and a different spin on pizza, please support local small businesses! Haven't tried any of the other dinner menu items, but I do recall dolmas and baklava as well were good. Hidden away in the complex with the Grocery Outlet, Dollar Tree, and Goodwill.

Love the pizza and salad. It's a bit distance from the downtown UC Davis but well worth it. Cheers

Since, I live in Los Angeles, it's best to leave it to the locals who know the good spots. I let her do the ordering, since I am not too picky and wiling to try new things. We ordered her favorite Davis Classic pizza (Pepperoni, Sausage, Olives, Mushrooms, Red Onion), Ranch Garden salad with Pesto dressing (Greens, Red Onion, Mozzarella, Bacon, Croutons) and Man Cave Chicken Wings (BBQ and Dry Rub flavors). The pizza was fully loaded with toppings, they do not skimp! One slice was hearty and good enough for me, along with the salad and wings. The restaurant has a dozen TVs for watching all the sports. There's an upper level loft with additional tables for groups, and celebrations. This was a great choice for the location, tasty food and good value for the price. Sincerely, Rosemary

There a small arcade section in the back of the restaurant, The restrooms were clean. We ordered an XL half All-Meat, half Club pizza, a large cinnabread, and fountain drinks. The pizza was really good! They put pizza sauce in the crust which was a tasty surprise. The cinnabread was delicious and not too sweet. Now the service was pretty disappointing. As we were enjoying our food, the restaurant became noticeable more busy. A waitress came up and asked us if we were planning on leaving within the next hour because there was a reservation coming in. My parents were completely shocked that they would even come up to ask us. It came off as really rude and as if they were trying to get us to leave. Regardless if you have a reservation coming, we were here first and you should've reserved a table earlier.

We finally ordered water and an appetizer while we waited for my son. He finally arrived and we sat there for another 20 minutes until the waitress decided to come back and take our order. She wasn't the most friendliest, seemed to be a bit irritated and you could hear her nect to the bar talking w the other waiters complaining about customers. Our food took forever to arrive and I could see other people waiting for service also and water which was taking forever. The food finally arrived. The appetizerbruschetta was good, and husband liked his calzone, everything else was mediocre. While we were sitting there still eating, the waitress had the audacity to come by our table and didn't just put down but almost a flung, slid boxes in the middle our table- we all looked at one another, like? That was a turn off, because it wasn't even close to closing time, we were still eating after waiting for the food. So we just left, my fiancé thought that was extremely rude of her, didn't even ask us if we wanted the boxes, just came over and tossed them onto the table. Rude.. I also had asked her for a fork earlier and she reponded with a disgusted face and a (what?) I used the restroom also which wasn't the cleanest. Manager contacted me, very professional and was obviously not content about the outcome and review. She took this seriously, and wanted to get down to the bottom of this and rectify the issue at hand. That made me feel more at ease.

Ordered up a chicken + pineapple BBQ sauce personal pizza. At the last minute, and ONLY because the kitchen wasn't slammed, I also asked for sautéed mushrooms instead of raw. OMG heaven on a bumpy tray (well-designed to keep the crust from getting soggy). I devoured that pie and finally remembered to take a photo of the last piece before finishing it off. Super friendly staff, fun vibe. Lots of front porch outside seating, large main room with booths and tables, and a back room with still more booths and tables and an entrance to/from the rear parking area. My friends and I have been going to every pizza place in Sacramento to see who has the best slice…read more This first paragraph is our rating from that review. When it comes to pizza places we rate, a 5/10 is as average as it gets. Anything below a 5 is below average, while anything above is above average. The price was a 6/10 for us. Not as expensive as some other places around here, but definitely not a cheap pizza either. When it comes to flavor however, we've decided to give it an 8.75/10. Our overall for Mountain Mikes leaves us at a 7.5/10. Now for this location. My best friend is a student at UC Davis and so I come up here to visit all the time. It was picnic day and if you know anything about Davis, then you know how many people show up and party that day. It was also her 21st birthday so I was in charge of taking care of her while she drank. By the end of the day, I took her back to her apartment and ordered her a pizza. She asked for "The Everest" made with white sauce. So obviously I went ahead and ordered it. It said that our pizza would be delivered in an hour. It took an hour and a half, but I'm assuming because it was picnic day and all 75,000 people were looking for food. No big deal, she was asleep during the time I ordered it so it wasn't like the delivery time was that important to us. When the pizza arrived, I brought it inside and opened it up. The thing that jumped out to us immediately was the pizza not having white sauce on it. When we bit into the pizza we found it was cold. There shouldn't have been any reason why the pizza arrived cold, as the apartment was less than a mile away. Normally I would go pick it up myself but with the Davis picnic day traffic, as well as me taking care of my drunk friend, pickup wasn't an opportune choice. With all that being said, we still ate the pizza and enjoyed every second of it. Even cold and missing the white sauce we ordered, it still tasted good. I would have been a lot more upset if I hadn't found a coupon online that dropped the price by $10. If you like good pizza, I'd go ahead and give Mountain Mikes a shot. They're expensive, but taste great. Just don't order them on picnic day like I did.
