Whenever we would go there,it was always a great happy dining experience and being in Dixon,it felt like a different world than the places in the Bay Area. As I grew up and moved to Sacramento area,the restaurant took on a much bigger meaning,it was my father's favorite spot to eat and it has always been the halfway point for my relatives who live in the bay and myself in Sacramento whenever we wanted to meet up for dinner. So yes I will always love Cattlemen's in Dixon for the memories alone. Let's talk about this particular recent visit. I made a reservation for a party of 9 at 6p. The parking at this location is plentiful as they have their own lot and even during its busiest times,there are always spaces available. When we arrived it was crazy busy and they told us it was going to be a bit for our table as they were running behind,so we headed to the bar to hang out and wait for our table. The wait ended up being over an hour after our reservation before we finally got our table. I was not thrilled at this but I was trying to make the best of a not perfect start to our dinner. The management and wait staff was very apologetic for the unexpected wait,which I appreciated. By the time we sat down we were ready to order immediately after having so much time to look at the menu while in the bar. In our family the most popular thing to order is the Original Steak Dinner for Two. We usually pair up with someone at the table and coordinate our order in that way. What that order gives you is a choice of 1 appetizer -Tumbleweed Onions -Artichoke Cheese Dip -Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail. On a night like tonight where we have multiple people ordering this,all the appetizers eventually get ordered and we kind of just share them all. Personally my favorite is the Artichoke Cheese Dip. Then for the Entree each of you get to choose one of the following -9 ounce Prime Rib -6 ounce Filet Mignon -Half Rack or Pork Ribs -14 ounce NY Strip Steak -Grilled Salmon -Steak and Shrimp Scampi My personal favorite here is always the 14 ounce NY Strip. And finally we get to pick one of 3 desserts. -Deep Fried Apple Pie -Cowpie Brownie Sundae -Pete's Pan Cookie My personal favorite is the Brownie Sundae but I'm usually so stuffed,I generally have to take my dessert home,so I almost always select the Deep Fried Apple Pie as it reheats the best at home. This order for two runs $84.99. I find it to be a pretty good value for all that you get. I failed to mention with this order we also get their yummy bread service,unlimited salad and also baked beans. Once the food arrived,it was all very enjoyable,I've always been a fan of their steaks and this visit was no different-very juicy and tasty and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The manager stepped up and comped all the appetizers on our bill to make up for the one-hour delay-their team is always so good at taking care of their customers. We placed a simple order: a large pepperoni pizza, two draft IPAs (with no list of options provided), and a salad. We paid upfront, including tip, and found a table. There was a bit of a wait before she poured our beers, and the IPA choices turned out to be limited to just a Blood Orange Double IPA or a Hazy. The salad came out quickly, followed by the pizza, which wasn't very hot. The pizza reminded me of Little Caesar's as a child, and real light on the cheese and pepperoni. While we were waiting, I noticed a man sitting in the corner with a laptop and earpiece, talking the entire time and even helping himself behind the bar. When the employee came over with our drinks, I quietly asked if he was the manager or owner, she said he wasn't, which was confusing. The place felt overwhelmed and understaffed. Throughout our meal, we were swatting away fruit flies, and there didn't seem to be any air circulation, it was stuffy and warm inside. Overall, not a great experience. Once again, I was disappointed. The customer service continues to be poor, with ongoing communication challenges and an unfriendly attitude from staff. I spent over $50 on my order and expected better quality. I specifically requested extra gravy with my mashed potatoes, but there was barely any included. The fries were hard and cold, and the fried pickles were cold as well. To make matters worse, I woke up around 2:00 a.m. with severe stomach cramps and pain that kept me awake until 4:30 a.m. The discomfort continued throughout the day and into the evening. This experience was the final straw for me. After multiple disappointing visits, I will not be returning to this location.

She saw us when we came inside and 6 minutes later, she was still on the phone. Then another customer came in, a white man and she hung up the phone and acknowledged him first and offered assistance to him. I find this rude, disrespectful and unfair since we have been waiting for a while. On his way out, she shouted and reminded him "don't forget your free soda". On our way out, she didn't offer us the free soda so we asked for it, "do we get a free soda, too"? She responded "uhm ya..sure"..
