I was looking for places that served breakfast and came across Ali Baba. I would rate this place 3.5 stars. It's located right at the edge of campus so it's a popular spot with the students. Parking is tricky since it's close to campus, Maoist of the street parking nearby is in the residential neighborhood, during the week, only those with permits are allowed to park in the neighborhood. When we arrived around 1 PM, there was a good amount of people there already. You order at the kiosks and wait for your name to be called. Food is already packaged to go. Plenty of seating is available. Pros: food came out fast and the staff are friendly. I saw a lot of good reviews about their breakfast burrito so I ordered that and a lamb gyro. Portions and prices are decent. The food is nothing to write home about. Cons: parking isn't easy to find
Back again. 2nd time in a month. Tried the chicken gyro this time. It was good. Love the sauce. It's really a good size gyro. Very filling. Chicken was tasty. Love the lettuce, grilled onions, tomatoes. Just gets a little messy. I'll be back to try their veggie platter
Not super consistent. When I go in-person, it's great but just takes a little bit of time when you get a custom order. When I ordered it through doordash (picture below), it was much smaller and had a large eggshell. Never ordered through doordash again. Been in person about 4x, I get the veggie breakfast burrito ($12) with less potatoes and no honey. Great! Takes like 10 minutes though, but the portion is pretty massive.
Came here to have their breakfast burritos. Cute little place. This was pretty much self-service so you walk in and go to an iPad and punch in your order. Then they call your name and you get your order. Really simple. Typically college town restaurant. The burrito was a pretty decent size. I had the bacon and cheese. It was pretty good. Plenty of bacon and cheese. Will prob come here again in the future as it's pretty decent for the price.
Hadn't had this burrito in 9 years and it still hits the same! The burrito is LOADED but it does have a lot of fries in it. I love the honey that they add, the sweetness makes it incredible. You order and get your food in under 5 minutes. The burrito is also pretty big for $11. There are plenty of tables and even students studying there.
Food: Ali Baba never disappoints -- we've been here a couple dozen times, and it always hits the spot. Their menu is huge, but we always stick with their breakfast burritos because they're truly the best. I got the veggie burrito and my husband ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon and gyro meat. What sets their burritos apart is the combo of honey, Tapatío, and jalapeño ranch... it sounds simple, but it makes every bite so good. Ordering Experience: We ordered online this time, and pickup was super quick and easy. Our food was ready right when we arrived, and everything was fresh and still hot. Parking: Parking can be a little tricky since the restaurant is on a street without its own parking. Depending on how busy it is, you may need to park on a nearby side street and take a short walk -- not a big deal, but something to know. Atmosphere & Location: Ali Baba is more of a takeout-style spot with a few indoor tables. It's located right in front of UC Davis in the quad area packed with different food spots, so there's always some foot traffic and a casual campus vibe. Perfect for grabbing food on the go.
Right across the UC Davis campus lies Ali Baba, Davis' designated, local "burrito spot". On any given school day, every table, both inside and out, are typically filled -- and for good reason. The dining area was clean and so were the ipads/kiosks, which you are expected to take orders on. Their staple, the breakfast burrito, is served with 2 scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, bacon, gyro meat, french fries, tapatio, and honey. I personally get my burrito with the jalapeño ranch, which gives it a mild, yet cool kick -- something I recommend to anyone regardless of spice level! The burrito is pretty good in terms of taste! My gripe with the breakfast burrito is just the sheer amount of shrinkflation that hit it.The burrito was fairly filling as a brunch option, although their sizes have noticably decreased the past few years, while prices have gone up. Despite this, the Ali Baba breakfast burrito is a decent, filling meal, and worth a try for any Davis newbie!
Holy cow this is like Davis' version of USC's Dulce breakfast burrito. My friend and I were literally full until 5pm and we got this at 10am. The tomato made the veggie burrito drippy so I'd recommend getting it without. It also runs very sweet compared to the regular (meat) burrito but both are SO worth a try. This is the kind of place that college students think about after they've graduated. Definitely stop by if you are in Davis!
Breakfast burrito was solid, but the honey made every bite just too sweet to the point it didn't even feel like a savory breakfast anymore. I think a hint of honey could have really highlighted the sausage, but it was just too overwhelming throughout. If I come again I'm definitely skipping the honey.
Pretty decent breakfast burrito for the price, it was very filling and loaded up. The fillings weren't mixed in well though so it felt like I was eating through different layers of things. The food came out fast so it's a great spot to order in a hurry. The restaurant is small but they have indoor/outdoor seating which is also nice.
disappointing like everyone said; service takes forever, just a small restaurant with no ambiance. as for the food i think it doesn't need the honey and is just not worth the price.
This place used to be great before Covid, but the quality has really gone downhill since then. The food isn't what it used to be, and for $11 a burrito you'd expect more filling than what you actually get. On top of that, they nickel-and-dime you for everything--charging $0.75 just to cut a burrito in half is ridiculous. What also left a bad impression was the staff. I speak Spanish, and while I don't mind people using their language at work, I overheard the workers making fun of a customer who asked if Tapatío was spicy. That kind of attitude isn't professional. Overall, there are now better spots around to grab a breakfast burrito or even just going to a café instead. Sad to say, but Ali Baba just isn't worth it anymore.
Decent breakfast burrito in a college town. Have quiosk to place order. Can take a while since they do take out too. Small spot with a handful of seating inside. Most of the time people get their breakfast burritos. Never really seen anyone eat their burgers so can't say how they are.
Food: 5/5 The breakfast burrito was amazing. My friend had said it was the spot she frequented back in college and was really hyping it up. We stopped by and it does not disappoint. The burrito was extremely hot when it first came out so you might need a sec before you start eating it. I'm not the biggest fan of breakfast options but this breakfast burrito blew my expectations out the water. The sweetness of the honey really cuts through the heaviness of the rest of the burrito. Extremely tasty no notes. Definitely a must try :)) Service: not much to say, was pretty much self service Ambiance: very casual, great for lunch, next to Davis college campus read more
Got one of their famous breakfast burritos to eat in the Arb since I'd been recommended this burrito for a while now. It's the kind of hangover food you'll only find in a college town. Stuffed with fries, gyro meat, hot honey, eggs, cheese, Tapatío, and bacon, it's complete gluttony in the best way. Honestly one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. The eggs are fluffy, the potatoes are both crisp and soft, and the fatty gyro meat and bacon add the perfect savory flavor to the burrito. The hot honey and Tapatío bring a sweet and spicy combo that makes it feel unique while still balanced. The inside was bustling even on a holiday weekend, but takeout was made easy with the kiosk setup. At only $11 and ready in under five minutes, it's hard to ask for much more. read more
A trip back to Davis isn't complete without hitting up the old college haunts, and this spot still holds up. This weekend was a nostalgic return to my go-to for breakfast burritos, and despite the inevitable price hike since my college days, the flavors were exactly as I remembered. The Legend: This isn't your average breakfast wrap; it's a heavy-hitter loaded with a unique mix of ingredients that shouldn't work as well as they do. The Build: Two scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, and savory gyro meat. The Crunch: They pack it with french fries for that perfect starchy texture. The Kick & Sweet: What makes this special is the combo of honey and Tapatío, it gives you that sweet-and-spicy profile that keeps you coming back for every bite. The Experience: I was so excited to dive in that I actually started eating before I could even snap a photo for the review. It's the ultimate comfort food and the perfect way to fuel up while visiting town. The Verdict: If you're a UC Davis alum or just passing through, this burrito is a mandatory stop. It's a bit pricier now, but for a nostalgic meal that satisfies every craving at once, it is worth every penny. It was everything I remembered and more! read more

I used to come here all the time and the burritos were great. This morning I ordered a burrito with mushrooms and the mushrooms were RAW and slimey. They were also chopped way too big. I was so disappointed I had to throw it away. And on top of that, the burritos I ordered were both COLD even though I picked them up as soon as they were done. Terrible. read more
We came here for some burritos and hamburger. It was delicious. There were a lot of students in and out as it is closed to UC Davis. We got the food to go. The breakfast burritos were delicious. Hamburger is yummy too! read more

I always order a veggie breakfast burrito from Ali Baba whenever I need a quick but delicious breakfast or brunch meal in Davis. Their breakfast burrito is hefty but delicious and so filling. It has everything I look for in a breakfast burrito plus more! And all the ingredients work so well together. Dipping or pouring their side jalapeño ranch sauce is a must as it adds a flavor explosion with a kick to each bite. Super affordable and delicious with great vegetarian options! Highly recommend! read more

The breakfast burrito is a MUST TRY if you are living or visiting Davis. Must get the jalapeño ranch- and I always opt for the extra honey and cheese, sometimes avocado too. I will say sometimes the quality is down when it's busy- but that's to be expected considering how small the establishment is. I usually order on DoorDash since going there may be a little wait. read more

As an alumni living in Davis, I can say that Ali Baba's efficient service has stayed the same overtime! Came in on a Sunday morning around 11am and they were definitely poppin'! It's a small restaurant so we just took our food home. I was surprised to see that they had ipads for ordering now and they were FAST! Not just the ipad but also the food came out less than five minutes after ordering! They have this delicious white sauce that just makes the burritos 10x better (a little spicy tho so beware). I used to always get the meat breakfast burrito but one day my friend suggested the vegetarian one because he said it's even better and so I did and I cannot go back! It's the avocado and mushrooms for me. Store has homey ambiance and great hang out for small groups! The baklava was also yummy and we only paid less than $25-I'd say that's a great deal! read more

One of my favorite breakfast burritos, anytime i'm driving and pass through Sacramento/Davis, I make it a point to stop by. It's definitely the most unique as well! Gyro meat, bacon, honey, Tapatio, fried eggs, fries, cheese all wrapped in a tortilla - it's very hearty but also has a nice balance of sweet and spicy. I personally tend to order with less fries because they can be dry sometimes. Ordering from the kiosks once you enter is smooth and I like how many customizations you can do with the burritos - you can also order online on their website or some delivery apps for pick up. 100% a must-try in Davis! read more
This place does not care about their customers/students. Why the smoke? Bc service takes a long time. Staff is not very friendly. Staff is usually behind the kitchen wall instead of being behind the counter. And bc when I ordered a chicken sandwich, it took 15 minutes and delayed my other order of breakfast burrito. And then when I asked why it's taking so long (which took an extra minute bc the staff was behind the wall), they told me there was a problem and as a result it will take 45 MoRE minutes! But they didn't come out to look for me and tell me the bad news. I had to go and ask them myself. What if I didn't asked and just waited. Would my breakfast burrito would have been delayed for another 45 minutes. It's ok to have problems. But it's not ok when the staff does not come out to update the customers. This place has great food and maybe even great cooks. But wait service is pretty terrible. Just go here for the burritos and nothing else. Or at least not a chicken burger. Be careful what you order. You get what you get. But it's not great service. read more

They had recently increased their prices from $10 a burrito to $11, which I can partially understand. However the burrito I received was abnormally small in comparison to the past burritos I had. The sizes for the burrito does vary sometimes, but it feels like they tried to skim my order which had an addition to it, and is unacceptable as after tax the price comes to just over $12 and I could go elsewhere for bigger portions. read more
I was skeptical about the veggie breakfast burrito because I find veggie options tend to lack flavor but this one was phenomenal. The tomato and mushrooms made it extra juicy and the eggs were scrambled so they were fluffy. There wasn't an overwhelming amount of cheese so I actually forgot it was one of the ingredients, especially with the avocado being so creamy. However, the most elite part of this burrito was the combination of honey and hot sauce. GAME CHANGER. I loved this burrito so much that I made it again that night to have for lunch the next the day. I also took out the fries so it was on the lighter side of breakfast burritos. You can make modifications but some may cost extra. You order at the kiosk or the front and it comes out pretty quickly if you have no modifications. It's located a little outside of downtown but there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. read more
This was one of my favorite spots when I lived in Davis, so I knew I had to come back when I visited! I was not disappointed this time around. I got the vegetarian breakfast burrito, which came out to around $10, and that's a price I can't complain about. The speed of service here cannot be topped. The burritos came out within genuinely 2 minutes of ordering. The addition of mushrooms and honey make this breakfast burrito different than the ones you can get in most places, but that is to its benefit. If anyone wants a diversity of texture, they won't find that in these burritos, because the potatoes lack crisp entirely, but you will never be lacking in flavor. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a relatively affordable, yet filling breakfast here in Davis. read more
