Parking is tricky since it's close to campus, Maoist of the street parking nearby is in the residential neighborhood, during the week, only those with permits are allowed to park in the neighborhood. When we arrived around 1 PM, there was a good amount of people there already. You order at the kiosks and wait for your name to be called. Food is already packaged to go. Plenty of seating is available. Pros: food came out fast and the staff are friendly. I saw a lot of good reviews about their breakfast burrito so I ordered that and a lamb gyro. I'm not the biggest fan of Ali Baba's, but it's not because the food is bad. For me, it's more about how it sits after eating it. I tend to get heartburn, so I usually have to take a lot of things out like the honey and sometimes even the meat to make it work for me. That being said, their spicy sauce is EVERYTHING. I love it so much, and it really carries the whole meal. When I customize my burrito exactly how I like it and add that sauce, it actually ends up being really good and satisfying. One thing I will say is that this is definitely food you want to eat fresh. It does not hold up well the next day. The fries get hard and cold, and in my opinion, it is just not very edible after sitting. Overall, if you eat it the day of and customize it to your liking, it can be really enjoyable. Right across the UC Davis campus lies Ali Baba, Davis' designated, local "burrito spot". On any given school day, every table, both inside and out, are typically filled -- and for good reason. The dining area was clean and so were the ipads/kiosks, which you are expected to take orders on. Their staple, the breakfast burrito, is served with 2 scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, bacon, gyro meat, french fries, tapatio, and honey. I personally get my burrito with the jalapeño ranch, which gives it a mild, yet cool kick -- something I recommend to anyone regardless of spice level! The burrito is pretty good in terms of taste! Holy cow this is like Davis' version of USC's Dulce breakfast burrito. My friend and I were literally full until 5pm and we got this at 10am. The tomato made the veggie burrito drippy so I'd recommend getting it without. It also runs very sweet compared to the regular (meat) burrito but both are SO worth a try. The jug of ranch on the countertop was questionable, but very on brand for college living. The veggie breakfast burrito and regular breakfast burrito are a pretty good size. That's what got me excited. It's always a good sign when your burrito barely fits in one hand. But that's about as far as my excitement travelled. It didn't even cross my mind to snap a pic (which is a bad sign in itself). The honey in the burrito was surprising. It was a good combination for a couple bites, but then it just got too sweet as your meal went on. I don't even want to know how much honey I consumed (the less you know the better, I guess). The vegetables were cooked well, but something was missing. The regular breakfast burrito was decent, but again, it felt like it was missing something. The food isn't what it used to be, and for $11 a burrito you'd expect more filling than what you actually get. On top of that, they nickel-and-dime you for everything--charging $0.75 just to cut a burrito in half is ridiculous. What also left a bad impression was the staff. And then when I asked why it's taking so long (which took an extra minute bc the staff was behind the wall), they told me there was a problem and as a result it will take 45 MoRE minutes! Would my breakfast burrito would have been delayed for another 45 minutes. It's ok to have problems. But it's not ok when the staff does not come out to update the customers. As an alumni living in Davis, I can say that Ali Baba's efficient service has stayed the same overtime! Came in on a Sunday morning around 11am and they were definitely poppin'! It's a small restaurant so we just took our food home. I was surprised to see that they had ipads for ordering now and they were FAST! Not just the ipad but also the food came out less than five minutes after ordering! They have this delicious white sauce that just makes the burritos 10x better (a little spicy tho so beware). I used to always get the meat breakfast burrito but one day my friend suggested the vegetarian one because he said it's even better and so I did and I cannot go back! I got the vegetarian breakfast burrito, which came out to around $10, and that's a price I can't complain about. The speed of service here cannot be topped. The burritos came out within genuinely 2 minutes of ordering. The addition of mushrooms and honey make this breakfast burrito different than the ones you can get in most places, but that is to its benefit. If anyone wants a diversity of texture, they won't find that in these burritos, because the potatoes lack crisp entirely, but you will never be lacking in flavor. As a UC Davis student, I've been to Ali Baba many times. It's unbeatable for fast service and warm breakfast burritos. My go-to food items are the large fries (steak fries), which are great for the value (I would say that the large fries alone are a meal for only 3 dollars), the classic breakfast burrito, and the Vietnamese coffee. The breakfast burrito is very sweet, with a mixture of tapatio and honey drenching the contents, so it might not be for people who prefer more savory burritos. The Vietnamese coffee has to be stirred before drinking. Don't forget to get a few cups of their sauce to eat with the fries! Overall I would say this is a great place to quickly get a filling meal for a reasonable price and very close to campus. This food is awful. It's not mediterranean in the slightest. Our chicken gyro has grilled onions barely worthy of being on a hamburger. The sauce is a bizarre concoction of what I assume is supposed to be hummus and tahini, but it's like a bastard child of grilled onions and low tier ranch. The only redeeming part is the chicken itself. The 'persian' salad is iceberg lettuce, block olives, feta, tomatoes, and what is supposed to be apple cider vinegar. I came in blind and was recommended by my friend to get the breakfast burrito. I just did the default option (not knowing what would be in it honestly). All orders were placed with the three available tablets. The default burrito with no modifications came out in minutes and my friend who had modifications took about 13 minutes to come out. My first bite took me a bit by surprise because it was sweet. The default burritos have honey on and in it. First few bites were mostly potato/fries/wedges.
