This is my favorite restaurant in all of Davis, even in the whole Yolo county. The most delicious kabobs on earth and it's a really busy place because it's super popular! Tonight was even busier due to the new year event of celebrating Spring season. I was so excited for the food and as you're standing in line, you get a show of the authentic grill to make the chicken and lamb kabobs. So amazing! You can smell the delicious scents and everything. It's mouthwatering. The line is long of course but that's to be expected given all the reasons listed above (great food, awesome cultural event, vibrant atmosphere). After waiting in line for 30 minutes, you finally reach the counter to place an order for you wonderful food you've been gazing at. All you dreams come crashing down as you learn that none of the main entrees are been taken because there were so many orders. I was confused and I tried to understand what items were left to order. You find out the apps and drinks are still remaining but what you came for, waiting for, the amazing kabobs you watched sizzling are no longer being offered. I did inquire to the cashier if maybe I could wait to place an order for the kabobs by coming back later when they weren't so busy or had some time to catch up on the orders. The answer was still no and my heart broke as I was really crazing kabob. Nonetheless, I was still super hungry and I remember their super tasty shirazi salad. I ended up ordering 2 of their salads and hoped that could fill the spot reserved for those delicious kabobs. I did get the 2 salads in a record time, so fast. However, I was a bit confused because the containers and size were so different from my past experiences (also different from the menu picture above the cashier). The salads were presented in a sauce container cup. I felt really torn after receiving my order due to the small size since they were normally served in these white soup to-go containers that were at least 2x the size. I did order 2 salads but they are so petite. This does happen a lot where Standup Kabob sells out of food fast, which I understand. It's a really common occurrence. I wish they would anticipate the needs of their customers given how fast the food runs out. I felt like I really built up my excitement over getting the kabobs only for the experience to be a total let down. I wish the long line was informed that the restaurant stopped taking orders for the main food.

Had a great visit to Stand Up Kabob. Definitely a funny concept-having a kebab shop in the middle of a car sales lot, but was really great food ! Didn't love the chai to be honest as it was served black and not how I thought Chai was usually served at middle eastern/indian/pakistani etc restaurants!

Authentic Persian Kabobs! My favorite is the lamb/beef kabob plate over rice. You can tell the staff here really care about the food, and service. The cashiers and cooks are friendly and always greet me when I come to pick food up. The lamb kabob has amazing flavor and is just *CHEF KISS* when eaten with a spoonful of the perfectly cooked jasmine rice. Sometimes they include a piece of charred rice and it is absolutely delicious. Oh, get the Persian rice pudding dessert, it's to die for!! I won't spoil what it tastes like because you have to taste it for yourself to really appreciate how good it is :)

The food was great and I'm so happy there is a good kabob place in Davis. I'm only taking a star off bc the food took kinda long to prepare and they forgot one item (which we only realized once we got home and had to go back for). Otherwise the flavors were awesome and the staff and service was super friendly. The meat thermometer was hands free and all Covid precautions were taken. The chicken kebabs were our favorite.

Don't be fooled that it's located in a used cars lot and make sure to look out for the A-frame sign because the turn can be easily missed. Also if you are meeting a group more than 4, you should call ahead to reserve a table as most of their tables are for groups of 2. We ordered the banoo kabob combo over rice to try the chicken and koobideh since it was our first time. Love the creamy sauce they include on the side!

Visited this spot on a Friday afternoon. I was last here two years ago and it was way more low key. It was nice to see the progression this shop has made and there were quite a few people eating there. Upon stepping in, the aromas of the charcoal fired meat were instantly apparent. We got two orders, a banoo kabob with lamb and chicken and a double chicken over rice. We also got some salad and a rice pudding. The chicken was very tender and juicy and had a great flavor. The lamb was the star with the charcoal flavor infused into it. The rice went well, but could use more of a flavor to it. The salad was refreshing and was a good palate cleanser. The rice pudding had a nice texture with a sweet saffron flavor. We also enjoyed a Taj Mahal and kingfisher with the food.

Totally worth the drive! The hardest part is trying to go on the days it is open and figuring out what to order.

The chicken, lamb, and beef were insanely tender, like melt in your mouth, don't even need to chew type of good. The saffron rice was absolutely perfect. Fragrant, rich, and so flavorful it honestly deserves its own fan club. And then the desserts As someone who takes sweets very seriously, it is basically a personality trait at this point, the baklava and ice cream were EVERYTHING. Sweet, creamy, slightly savory, and just so unique in the best way. We loved it so much we had to take a half pint home with us and I would do it again without hesitation. The whole experience felt special, cozy, and honestly kind of magical for a date day with my husband. We were already planning our next visit before we even left. Safe to say we will absolutely be back next week and enjoying every single bite again

I ordered their mule which was not only delicious but a great price too at $10.00! For my main I ordered the Taste of Maydoon which included a taste of everything! There was not a single thing on the entire plate that was not delicious. The meat was perfectly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The salad dressing was vinegary and refreshing! This plate is a little on the higher side at $28.00 but for the portion I think it's well worth it! A suggestion to the restaurant would be to add a changing table in the bathroom. I had to change my son on the sink countertop which was less than ideal but we got it done. Would be a nice addition to the restaurant. Will definitely be coming back in!

This weekend was a nostalgic return to my go-to for breakfast burritos, and despite the inevitable price hike since my college days, the flavors were exactly as I remembered. The Legend: This isn't your average breakfast wrap; it's a heavy-hitter loaded with a unique mix of ingredients that shouldn't work as well as they do. The Build: Two scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, and savory gyro meat. The Crunch: They pack it with french fries for that perfect starchy texture. The Kick & Sweet: What makes this special is the combo of honey and Tapatío, it gives you that sweet-and-spicy profile that keeps you coming back for every bite. The Experience: I was so excited to dive in that I actually started eating before I could even snap a photo for the review. It's the ultimate comfort food and the perfect way to fuel up while visiting town. The Verdict: If you're a UC Davis alum or just passing through, this burrito is a mandatory stop. It's a bit pricier now, but for a nostalgic meal that satisfies every craving at once, it is worth every penny. It was everything I remembered and more!

Plenty of seating is available. Pros: food came out fast and the staff are friendly. I saw a lot of good reviews about their breakfast burrito so I ordered that and a lamb gyro. We came in on a weekday for the lunch special and I was excited to see it was still on the menu. I ordered the vegan beef koobideh and added a vegan chicken koobideh for $5. The lunch special comes with half rice, half salad, plus a drink. I chose the iced tea and it was really refreshing. For an appetizer, I had my must-have mast-o-musir (shallot yogurt). They also bring out butter and half a raw onion, which I always thought was random until I asked my Persian coworker how you're actually supposed to eat it. Turns out the butter is meant to be mixed into the warm rice so it melts, and the onion is used as a palate cleanser. You peel off a small piece and take a bite between eating your rice and protein. Once you know, it totally makes sense. Between the two koobidehs, the vegan beef was the clear winner. It was flavorful and honestly didn't taste like fake meat at all. The vegan chicken was good, but you can slightly taste that Impossible-style meat flavor. Next time, I'll definitely just get two beef koobidehs. Overall, I'm really glad I came back. After trying a bunch of other Persian spots, this is still my favorite, especially now that I can enjoy it while eating vegetarian. Highly recommend.

Our dinner did take a little while to come out, but it was definitely worth the wait. We ordered the lamb chops with rice and salad, the jujeh kebob, and the salmon kebob. The rice came with a piece of tahdig on top, which was a nice touch. I especially liked the salmon - it was moist and cooked really well. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the lamb chops were soft, succulent, and didn't taste gamey at all. You can really taste the charcoal flame on the meats, which added so much depth without overpowering the dishes. The flavors were subtle and balanced, with hints of saffron throughout, especially in the rice. They also have a good selection of vegan options, which is nice to see. Next time I'm in the area, I'd love to come back and try their stews. Overall, a really good spot with great food. We all enjoyed our dinner here.

Server did offer to let us choose 2 different meats for our two #41 Koobideh plates (2 beef skewers for $25), but I think we would have been better off just ordering one #61 All Koobideh plate (3 different meat skewers for $34). One plate has plenty of basmati rice for two people to share. She suggested the two #41 orders, instead of answering how much an extra order of rice would cost. Maybe you can't order a side of rice? Rice comes with each entree. By ordering the 2nd plate, she offered or included the $8 Bread Basket for no extra charge. It was my friend's birthday. I wanted to pay, and she wanted to order extra to go, so I wanted two separate bills, but it seemed too complicated to explain or disallowed. After the food was delivered to the table, server didn't check on us anymore. I guess the restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays. My friend thought all the koobideh tasted the same. I liked them in this order: 1) Lamb, 2) Chicken, and 3) Beef, but they're the same texture, so they aren't all that different. I should have ordered a different 2nd entree, instead of two Koobideh plates. The #18 Bademjan Borani eggplant appetizer was yummy. It did come with some bread, so you don't have to order the bread basket. The bread is served warm. The basmati rice was light and fluffy, but not flavorful or buttery. You can pay a $4 upgrade to switch the rice to salad or a fancier stir fried rice. Read the Vegetarian Dishes menu section to learn about the various fried rice or polo preparations. Our server suggested the Fava Bean Rice or Baghali Polo because it is a Persian New Year dish. Yelp reviewers recommended the Zereshk Polo, which includes barberries, a fruit similar to currants. $10 to add a skewer of veggies. $4 to add a salad is mentioned under the Vegetarian Dishes menu and Seafood & Combination Plates menu. I didn't like how the sugar cubes for the Persian Tea were served. It looked communal and exposed to the elements. You could see sugar dust on the serving bowl. Other Persian restaurants serve the sugar in a smaller covered bowl. Formal dining room. Lunch specials are Monday to Friday, 11 am to 3 pm, excluding holidays. Lunch prices range from $16-$20. 3 different $8 soup offerings: chicken barley, ashe reshteh, or green lentil.
