Love the food. I don't even like humus or falafel but both are great here. The salmon with the sauce is orgasmic! I have been coming here for almost 10 years now. My only complaint is the white lady who works there is rude and always has been! Went in today and a new customer asked a few innocent questions and she was unnecessarily mean to her. The food is good , quick and affordable. But I must mention these negative experiences I keep having. I go here often because I live in walking distance. A few times after paying I thought to myself, I think I was over charged. So the next time I went I payed more attention to the charge. I mentioned to her that she has overcharged me. She whips out a paper and pencil and came up with her amount again. So I still wasn't going for it and did the math for her and each time her reply was ."oh your right". Can you believe that today is now the third time I had to dispute the price. All three times she pulls out a paper and pen and comes up with a inflated number again. And all three times I had to dispute her math and show her how each time she had added at least a extra 10 dollars to my meal. Today I didn't see how much she charged me so I asked after paying . A yep once again a extra ten dollar or more was added. She refunded me then charged me correctly. So its either I look stupid and she can't help but take advantage of me, she is racist like many other reviews stated. Or she is a thief and doesn't discriminate on who she steals from. I would urge you to seek out Ali Baba. Or at least, the Ali Baba Mediterranean Delites place on Broad Street. This hole-in-the-wall establishment produces some of the best and cheapest Mediterranean food to be had anywhere in the city. I had a gyro wrap and a cup of lentil soup at this Broad Street eatery. They even made the gyro wrap spicy, and it was delicious, spicy enough to stimulate but not overpower. I already want to go back for more. The lentil soup was mild, flavorful, and savory, just as good lentil soup should be. I say forego the spoon, just pick up the bowl and enjoy. This hole-in-the-wall is almost literally that, with enough space to get in, place your order, grab your treats, and enjoy your food at the tables outside. These folks do a quick business (they get really busy during lunchtime), so it's hard to linger over the menu. It does make sense to visit the website beforehand and decide what you want. Next time I will try the hummous, and maybe a doner. Ali Baba is only open Monday through Friday for lunch. But again, I do recommend it. Holler if you want some company. read more

I got a chicken kabob Greek salad. I like my salad chopped but this was too chopped. Almost slawed, so it held alot of moisture diluting the dressing. It was barely any feta, they use regular sliced black olives.... not Kalamata olives. The chicken was NOT kabob (not nasty) but chopped marinated chicken. Grrrrrrr. The hummus was ok, its plain so its limited on flavor. And the dressing was almost non existent. Sidenote..... they put hot sauce on everything. Regular vinegar based hot sauce. Think along the lines of lousiana hot sauce. So when they ask if you want spicy sauce that is what they will be referring to. The menu is simple and features plenty of combos for under ten bucks, and they offer a 10% student discount if you show them a GSU ID. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton and when my bf got back to the hotel room, he was extremely disturbed for good reason. This salad normally comes with watermelon, cantaloupe, honey dew, and grapes. *Pasta Salad: I have no idea how they make this cold salad or what's in it but I need a life time supply of it! II. SERVICE When it's busy, they normally give you a small sample of this fried piece of nirvana. My first experience was bad since I did not know what to order and it was during there busiest hours so I was frantic and blurted out what I saw first since there was hangry people behind me in such a small space. Luckily it became my all time favorite. After knowing what to order and how the flow works, the service seem to be okay. III. You can't really argue with a less than $8 lunch combo and a line of 15 people out onto the street. As I write this, spring is in the air. Oh, no, wait. That's just a thousand trees getting their freak on in a sort of sick joke on asthmatics and allergy sufferers. But don't let this stop any of you from going to lunch at Ali Baba. In fact, don't even think about the millions of pollen particles you're snorting into your nose as you wait in a line 15 people deep to get a lamb or chicken gyro with some baba ganoush. No, try not to even fathom how yellow your car is at this moment, because, well, you have to concentrate on lunch at Ali Baba. That's right -- I stood in a line 15-20 people deep in this annual arboreal sex fest to get some food here the other day. The pace was quick and efficient, even if you DO have to go to a duplicate version of the hole in the wall that IS Ali Baba to get your lunch combo's drink. Nestled in the front entrance of some Fairlie-Polar district condominiums, Ali Baba's takes up two spaces the size of an afterthought newsstand on either side of the condo entrance. On the right side, you get in the line and order your food. Lamb and chicken gyro combos, all sorts of Mediterranean side dishes (e.g. baba ganoush, tabouleh, hummus, etc.), and interesting a la carte dessert pastries. The beauty of this setup is its efficiency. You have to get your drink at a duplicate not-a-newsstand on the left side of the condo entrance, thus reducing the "What do I want to drink today?" indecisiveness on the food side. On the food side, ordering is fast-paced -- geared towards regulars who know what they want. That doesn't mean you can't be a noob like me about picking your food. The guys behind the mini-buffet glass partitions will happily give you samples and prepare your gyro order to taste. I'm a fan of the lamb gyro combo for $7.50 or so with tax. You get a gyro, any one of the many side dishes and a Coke for that price. The gyro is a good portion with lettuce, tomato, lamb meat, yogurt, onion, etc. I avoid a lot of the yogurt -- be sure to ask them to go easy on it unless you didn't care about the vegetables that died in that salad dressing in the "Schoolhouse Rock" refrigerator expose from the 1970s. They'll also ask if you want it spicy -- if you do, you'll get some sort of spicy marinara in the bottom of your gyro. You want this. It's good, and it's not spicy unless you're a bit of a whinge. I can also recommend the baba ganoush and the falafel (not frozen) from this place. Both very good. Once you've got your food, pay the man at the counter, walk across the condo entrance to the other side, get your fountain drink, and BAM! 15-20 people and about five minutes later, you've gotten a decent meal at Ali Baba's. Dining in a fog of pollen can't get any better, cheaper or faster than this. I need a Benadryl. read more

It's just a counter inside a closet, but there are plastic chairs and tables on the sidewalk outside to sit on if you like. The reason I won't go back here is the rudeness of the large woman who works there: she rations napkins as though they were Willy Wonka's golden tickets and begrudges you silverware as well if you should have the audacity to ask for some. Believe me, the food isn't worth it. If you need some quick Turkish falafel/gyro/wrap food to go, you will probably be ok with this place. But I will not be going back there. I've been there a few times over the years, and I've never been impressed with it--it hasn't improved at all. The rudeness of the woman who runs the shop is intolerable to me. Ohhh merhaba, Turkish street food! How I missed thee!! Ever returning from study abroad in Turkey (and it's been some time), I've been searching for an authentic, good Turkish place. I hated having to splurge at upscale Mediterranean restaurants when all I wanted was some juicy doner + simple salad for a few bucks. AND AT LAST! Ali Baba is tucked away like a diversity recruit in the sea of American food chains on Broad Street. I probably would've never stepped into that little strip if my brother hadn't told me about this gem (thank you, Brother). The food, man. I don't even know what to say besides that they are just so darn delicious. I love their wraps, spicy or not. Their salads and tabuli are very juicy (probably overly so). They have grape leaves, baklava, evil eye wall hanging, and other things that a good lil Turkish place should have. It IS very hole-in-the-wall. It's like a food stand with a door. There are seatings on the street and in the random building, but they are pretty spartan... I mean they are functional, but not somewhere you want to take your date to, promising authentic Turkish cuisine. Well, unless your date was me. Then you might get really lucky. The 10% discount for GSU students is a nice touch, if you're a GSU student, are with one, or can pass off as one. I believe they have a new location in Little Five Points, so I will be definitely making trips out to one of the two locations. Yum yum! read more

I recommend the Mediterranean platter to - hummus, baba ghanoush, tabouli, grape leaves mediterranean salad, falafel and warm pita bread. Ali Baba is another example of a place (like Six Feet Under) that everybody seems to fawn over but I think is just okay. Go to Ali Baba for a $6.25 combo that includes a wrap, a side of hummus, baba ganoush, tabouli or the like, and a soda. I wanted to like my falafel wrap better than I actually did. It's an interesting sandwich, but none of the ingredients were particularly good - I've had better textured and flavored falafel patties, the hummus doesn't stand up to Trader Joe's, and all the other stuff they throw in there like oily iceberg, hot sauce and something white that might either be tahini or sour cream, only helps distract from the falafel itself. I might have enjoyed it more if they had served it hot. The spinach/cheese pie looked good though, so I'll have to come back and try that. And the "pistachio bird's nest baklava," while a bit pricey at $3 for one piece, is delicious. Another advantage to Ali Baba is that all those outdoor tables are reserved for Ali Baba customers, so you're slightly more likely to find a place to sit outside, if that's what you're looking for.
