We stopped in for lunch today. The dining room is lovely. Bright, open, very nice. We ordered samosas and narenj pulaw. My husband asked the waiter which samosas he preferred since we couldn't decide. The beef samosas were good and quite filling. Two come with an order and they are large. The rice was wonderful. Lots of orange rind and almonds! The lamb was a little tough but delicious. The portions are very generous. Went here for Mother's Day and had an overall pleasant experience. The food was great (pictured below is the afghan goat). We also ordered the spicy mix kebabs , the milky dessert with tea, and mangu. The food was delicious, no complaints there at all. We loved the kebabs, the afghan rice, the bread, and the goat. We ended up ordering more rice because for us the portion was small since we were sharing. The service was slow and they were out of a few popular menu items. It wasn't packed but there were a couple of big tables already seated when we walked in. We never got the mangu and I had to find ways to distract myself since the food took a while to come. However, the servers were kind and apologized many times for the slowness. They even comped the extra rice for us. The ambiance was family friendly but I could see the place being a spot for adults to hang in the evening because there was open space. I think it would be a perfect venue for a small event. Unfortunately they were out of a couple of things I wanted to try, but the things I was able to get made up for it! The service was quick and we were able to find a seat easily. Our server seemed experienced and knew the menu well. I ordered the bolani and the lentil soup. (Note that if you're vegan, you should order the lentil soup without the cream top. The restaurant should have that labeled because it is not. Also order the bolani without the mint & yogurt sauce it comes with on the side.) The bolani was cooked very well. Kabul Kabob has a beautiful interior, its spacious with gorgeous lanterns and traditional decorations. The people working there are quite welcoming, especially, the owner goes that extra mile to come check on his customers and bring them complimentary dessert or tea. Now about the food, everything is delicious! My favorite was the Peri Peri Grilled Chicken. It had just the right amount of spiciness and tanginess. The meat was tender and usually better than how grilled chicken breast tastes like. We also ordered the wings and mantu for appetizer, those were pretty good too! For entree, we ended up ordering lamb shank- which I expected to be more tender, but it felt a bit dry. Next, we got chicken karahi and that was a 10/10, amazing flavors and good quantity but again, it feels a bit pricey- not sure if its because of the location. They brought out a couple of sauces and complimentary salad with cucumber and tomato which paired well with all the dishes we ordered. My expectations from the koobideh kabobs were a bit high but they were nothing extraordinary. You should give this place a try, it'll be great for large parties and family gatherings since there's so much space. You won't have to worry about parking because the parking lot is huge. We ended the lunch with jalebi- which could be crispier but ended up being a bit soggy and oversweet. We came here for a group lunch and everyone really enjoyed their food. I ordered the spicy chicken kebabs and they were terrific. They had just enough spice. The entree also comes with a tasty salad. The waiter was really nice to our group. The space has a nice new ambiance. My only issue is they don't have a weekday lunch menu, so it can be on the pricey side for lunch. I came here for lunch after playing pickleball next door at Ace Pickleball and was pleasantly surprised! I thought the food was excellent and the service was good too. There were only a few other tables dining when we were there so I can't speak to how it might be when it's very busy. They serve lots of different Afghan cuisine. I had the Sultani Kabob combo, which comes with a salad, two meats and rice as well as two different sauces (the white sauce is great!). The portion was fairly large so I was able to bring some of it home for lunch the following day. I'd say if you are really hungry you might be able to finish it on your own. GLUTEN FREE TIPS* We asked if all of their meats are gluten free and they informed us they were, however if you are concerned about something specific like a spice or anything else I would suggest calling ahead of time to double check. Fantastic food! Prices are high for quantity of food received, however Kabul Kabob is lovely. This place is casual, nicely appointed, offering table service not counter ordering. Kubeediah Kabob $20.99 is expensive but good, not seasoned much, so the chutney and yogurt sauce will help amp up the flavor. The Saffron Chicken Kabob $17.99 is much too expensive for a mere 4 small pieces of chicken - most places give 7 or 8 chucks of chicken. The meals are accompanied with lovely rice and a delicious salad. I also ordered the Mantu (appetizer) $14.99, that was delicious. The bread is separate. I did order a basket, it is not traditional Afghani bread instead it is a fresh naan bread which is cut in squares. Another new Mediterranean/Afghani food in town. This place is located between Dunwoody and Alpharetta. It is on Exit 7 on US 19 N. Let us start with food. We ordered their popular dish, Chicken Karahi, Bolani, and spicy mix kabob grill with Kabul rice. The chicken Karahi came with their bread which was delicious. Karahi was also really good, it could have been spicer, but it needs to be requested, which we did not, so I would still give it 10/10. For the spicy mix grill with Kabul rice, I was slightly disappointed. The rice was too bland for my taste, and the kabobs were not spicy. Bolnai tasted good, but I wish they had made that less spicer; we could not finish the dish. They also serve you with a salad at the beginning which is fresh and nice. As for ambiance, the place is well-lit and looks slightly high-end. So the food prices are comparatively high. They have huge spaces and the tables were well spread out. The service was good, they servers kept a check on us and discussed what is nice and what they can make it for us. There are plenty of parking spaces. Came here for a great celebration with friends and family. We were served the mantu, which is huge in portion size and amazing in taste. The meats were juicy and tender, which is perfect with the raisined rice. My favorite way of eating the dishes id to put some meat and veggies on the naan, dipped in their yogurt sauce. Was out shopping and wanted a place with table service and good food. The blinds were pulled and from a distance I thought this place was closed but I noticed the Open sign and decided to give it a try. I am so so glad that I did. I had an excellent meal here. I had delicious lamb, perfectly seasoned and prepared rice and a wonderful salad. The service was great. My food came out quickly and at the correct temperature. The dining area is so pretty. Lots of lovely touches! The plates and cutlery are really pretty--one of my friends ordered the tea and it was exquisite! The pot and cups are beautiful, and the tea was fragrant and delicious. Our food was all really yummy, too. I especially love led the spicy chicken and I look forward to trying some more adventurous entrées the next time I go.
