So I stopped in because I pass it all the time but never gave it a second thought. I was feeling like Mediterranean food and I wanted something I haven't tried before so here we are. It's in a shopping center so there's free parking. It's right off Roswell Road so you really can't miss it even though it is kinda off in the corner but it's still easy to find . They have a little outdoor area so you can actually sit outside if you wanted to be in the element and it's actually covered as well because it's right under the awning of the building so that's an option too. You come in and it's a large shop but it's not a lot. Most of the space there is going to be seating. You can look around and they have a little market area but the market area is very small. They do have particular specific items so you can check that out while you wait for your food. You can see the menus on the board and everybody there is super friendly and they'll explain anything to you. We had a pretty good short conversation while I waited. Love the customer service . Hummus - I tried the hummus and it was okay. Nothing crazy about it and it was just regular and not like it was roasted red pepper or garlic or anything like that but it was decent . Chicken shawarma wrap - the wrap was pretty good. It wasn't great but it was pretty good. It had a lot of color to it, meaning they were seasoning it for sure, but the flavor was only okay. The flavor was not popping out of your mouth but it was a decent but subtle flavor. It was super tender! Chicken kabob - the kebab plate came with two skewers and rice with a salad and it came with some garlic sauce as well. I think that the kebab was better than the shawarma to me. It had the same char flavor but mixed with the rice and the garlic sauce, it took it up another notch as well. You got a lot of it though so it wasn't like you only got two pieces of meat per skewer and a small handful of rice. You got a bed of rice so it was really good. The salad was low quality but I really didn't care about that because I didn't come for salad lol. Overall you paid maybe like $12 or $14 for this. It wasn't bad for a full plate . All in all it was a pretty decent experience. They're very customer-oriented and customer-friendly so you go in there, you will be fine. They'll take care of you read more

You can find Samad Mediterranean at 8897 Roswell Rd Sandy Springs, GA 30350 - this is towards the left side of a long row of retail businesses in a rather tired shopping area just before you approach the river (bottom of the hill) headed north on Roswell Rd. There's tons of parking. I've eaten at the lunch counter at Samad several times, usually getting plates over wraps - the plates are essentially decomposed wraps where the pita comes as wedges instead of whole bread (typically you can ask for it uncut), with a couple of sides. The place is fairly divey - with a small grocery store off to one side for Mediterranean spices and dried herbs. You order at the counter and pick up by order number. I'm a fan of the gyro meat - nice juicy mix of lamb and beef. I also like their hummus, creamy/smooth - in general the prices are reasonable and the food good. Previously I always went to the now defunct Aladdin nearby (miss that place) but this is my go to for gyros, especially when coming back from a hike in the park. Service is good but you would expect it to be at the counter. Bathrooms could use a remodel but they seem to be relatively clean every time I visit. It can get a bit noisy here as it's a large space and the line can get long at lunch - I'm not sure what it's like during dinner. read more

It's quite a rare occurrence when you're able to find a restaurant that serves quick and delicious food on the fly, at a super low cost. Behold, Samad Mediterranean, my new stop for Mediterranean food in the Sandy Springs area. From what I understand, this restaurant is a family establishment that simply does things the right way. They offer tasty and authentic food while providing friendly service. They're popular in the area and bring life to an otherwise barren strip mall. The menu is designed to provide different handheld and plate options to get you in and out fairly quickly. Plates typically come with some meat, rice and a few sides. The Moe Meat Plate is a glamourous option for carnivores, as it contains kafta, chicken and gyro meat on top of a bed of rice with hummus. Samad really does a great job with their meats. They're all super tender and seasoned perfectly. You can see all of the meats spinning on the gyro broiler and it just makes your mouth water. When your dish comes in front of you, it smells and tastes fantastic. The hummus is also a fantastic consistency and fresh tasting. The bargain of the restaurant are the handhelds. You can get a full gyro with a side of fries or a salad for less than $10! The gyro is prepared well, the ratio of veggies to meat to sauce is great. All of the flavors combine well, and again, taste fresh! An underrated point, but their fries complement the meal well. They were hot, crispy and seasoned well. Nothing about this restaurant tastes or feels heavy or oily, which is a nice feeling once you've finished. There isn't much to the decor or the interior, but I feel like it really works with this restaurant, it doesn't ruin the aesthetic. Everything about this place gives you a "local family restaurant vibe" and I'm all for it. I will definitely be back to try the many other things I have yet to try. We got dolmas & falafel, a Kafta kabob, A Moe More plate, A Hala plate, a gyro, a chicken gyro, Greek salad & lentil soup and a couple more things. Everyone loved their food! I got the chicken gyro and a side of hummus. Delicious! The dolmas are very lemony and extremely good, and I'm not kidding when I say the falafel might be the best I've ever eaten. EVER. The positives I can pick out here is that they are probably some of the nicest employees I've ever encountered and was super generous, kind, and helpful on my very first visit. The food is also very delicious and I'm certainly going to return. The good far outweigh the bad but I would have some feedback. I got a traditional gyro and salad. Salad was far overdressed and was sogging wet. I was however surprised that it was actually really delicious. Had I closed my eyes I might never have known it was overdressed. It has a simple lemon salad dressing and was arugula based. For only a $2 add-on I would consider it again. The gyro itself wasn't quite filled as large as some others I've had. It also didn't have fresh produce on it like diced tomatoes or shredded lettuce, but I love the simplicity of the gyro and sauce which both were excellent and I also really like that they grilled the pita. The inside or outside of the restaurant certainly isn't too beautiful, but it's definitely clean and for what a great price their food is, I will definitely return. read more

I selected Samad when I saw the handwritten menu sign and read that it was a mom and pop kind of place. I overlooked a more highly rated, fancier looking Mediterranean restaurant in favor of Samad and I'm glad I did. If I was rating Samad solely on the food it was be a 5 star review. Food was delish. Lots of mmmming occurred during our meal. Portions we perfect. We are almost everything. Hummus was outstanding!! I was not expecting much from the ambience standpoint and there wasn't much. Bare and in some places concrete floors. Beverage and condiment area didn't feel the cleanest and could use a little tidying. The check out area is very cluttered. The market in the back is small but cute. Interesting to look at while we waited for our food. I would prefer real silverware, and if I lived nearby I'd probably just order up some carry out. All in all we loved our food, despite the bland interior. It was as expected. Tasty food, no frills dining. If you are good with that you will love Samad. read more

What a great family owned Lebanese restaurant. Located in a mostly deserted strip mall near the north end of Sandy Springs on Roswell Rd., this place is practically the anchor store for the strip mall as they routinely attract a large number of lunch and dinner guests. It is both a restaurant and a small Lebanese market with all the spices and the special products you may need to create your own Lebanese food at home. The owner and his wife are a constant presence and the food is good, fast, the atmosphere is welcoming and everyone working there takes great pride in their food and their service. I love the garlic sauce that comes with all the chicken dishes. I'm a big fan of the chicken shawarma with the tender perfectly spiced chicken pieces, tomatoes, pickles and garlic sauce on a grilled pita. They clearly have a great bakery source as their pita couldn't be better. My wife and I have tried nearly everything from the veggie platter to the hummus, to the gyros, the half chicken of course the shawarma -all good. The City of Sandy Springs is contemplating a major redevelopment of this strip mall so Samad's may be gone in two years. Let's hope, should that happen, that they can find a new home in Sandy Springs. We don't want to lose this restaurant and this family. read more

Samad is hiding in a mostly empty shopping center just south of the Chattahoochee River. It is not he prettiest interior but everything else out weighs that. The order is at the counter with a large menu board above. Although the payment is a little confusing as you don't pay until you receive your food if you are taking it to go or after your meal at the side counter. They did seem have it pretty organized. Staff was very friendly in the process. With seating inside or outside available. There is also a market with some Mediterranean food items available for sale. I went with Tracy plate and it came with a lot of good stuff. This version of the dish came with Halal meat but there is also a chicken version too. The meat had a great fresh smokey flavor to it. Under it was a greek salad with a side of tzatziki sauce. As well as fresh pita and hummus. It was a great value and a lot of food. Really nice Mediterranean hole in the wall spot. They have gyros and salads and different plates, perfect for lunch! Most items come with pita and hummus which was yummy! I got a Greek salad with grilled chicken, it was fresh, light, and delicious! It came with a bunch of different sauces. The garlic sauce is so strong and definitely packs a punch so beware. I didn't give it 5 stars because the logistics are a bit confusing. You order up at the counter/grill area but then you don't pay after you order at the counter? You eat and then walk up to pay as you leave which isn't super clear. And it's assumed you help yourself to a drink as well. Maybe I missed the signage, not sure. read more

This is a great mom/pop restaurant. Three hungry hikers (we hiked Vickery creek, see separate review) were pleased with the selection and process. I had the gyro sandwich for $5.50, which is a great deal. Drinks are self serve from the soda fountain. My two friends had plates with chicken, fries, and salad. You order at the counter and they make the order and bring it to you. Afterwards pay at the counter for your meal. This is my updated review during the corona virus pandemic. After ordering we sat outside, they have half dozen tables outside. In short time they brought our order. It is good to support local restaurants during the crisis. Also Samad is using part of their space as a food bank, and several folks arrived to pick up food. Stopped here to get something for my hike at Vickery Falls Creek on Sunday at 11:50. They didn't open until noon, but the nice gentleman served to make it before parking got crazy! I got one thing to say about this place, besides great friendly service, is that it has SIX dollars HUGE gyros. These were solid and go for $10 where I'm from. It is my new go-to for Mediterranean food when I come back to the ATL! Enjoyed it right in the water and it hit the spot for a 5-mile hike up the road and washed it down with a free Balconi Trancetto that was a sponge cake snack given after tipping them for their quick service outside of business hours. One of the best-kept secrets in the Sandy Springs/Roswell area! It's easy to overlook Samad, because it's tucked away in a strip mall and not easy to spot from the road. However, it's well worth the visit. Run by very friendly people, Samad boasts some of the best Mediterranean food in the area. I particularly love their gyro meat - it's great in a wrap on on a platter served with hummus and tabouli salad. Don't miss the fried cauliflower side - absolutely out of this world. Humble spot sitting next to a gym deserves more credit than it's given. The website boasts "best Mediterranean food in ATL" and they aren't wrong! Starting with clearly babganoush and warm pita, an absolute must. Served on a paper plate, but extremely fresh tasting -- I couldn't get enough. They don't skimp on portion size so my partner and I split the half chicken with fries and homemade beet salad. The chicken doesn't look like much, but was served hot, cooked to perfection and filled with herbs/spices and didn't even need salt (which if you're a sodium queen like me, you understand).
